I had the ice chai latte which was refreshing and you could taste the chai which is a big deal to me. For desserts we had the mango pudding, chestnut cream cake, and green tea tiramisu. The best dessert amongst me and my friends was the mango pudding. It was very refreshing especially for a nice day. There was a little mango pieces in it which made it tastier. The chestnut cream cake was decent. There was nothing spectacular about it to make it stand out. The green tea tiramisu was pretty decent after a few bites it was really good. I will say it's an acquired taste. Service was quick and the ambience was perfect. They had their own little stand so you could sit and finish your desserts or drinks.

The desserts at Cafe Japon are good. The service is meh - as some other reviewers have mentioned. I went here last week and bought a slice of cake "to go." There was a tip jar sitting on the counter - it was completely empty & abandoned - I assumed it was for dining in or large orders. I bought a slice of strawberry shortcake. As I was leaving, the cashier asked me if I needed a bag. I said sure, that'd be helpful. She takes the cake and flips it upside down - completely ruining the beautiful presentation. While I cannot read minds (unfortunately) I gave her a sly glance; she seemed to derive some sort of satisfaction from demolishing the cake. lol. I shrugged. No tip I guess.... The cake was still fresh & tasted fine. Four stars - minus one for the cake saboteur behind the counter!

Got the Yuzu Calpico Shaved Ice and it's not really like how it's usually served. The serving was also a little lackluster and those are not rainbow fruit jellies like they said were on it lol. It does taste quite good still but ya know, could definitely be better overall

The matcha is stored in a clear plastic container so it's oxidized and low quality. Not the worst ever, but not good. See photo color for reference

I would recommend going to another vendor in the market. There's just one worker as the cashier and barista, so the wait is pretty long. I got a hot matcha latte. While it was pretty affordable and I liked that it wasn't sweetened, I was quite disappointed. The matcha powder they used was more green than brown, and extremely bitter even after adding several sugar packets. I didn't get to try the cakes but they looked pretty good.

I love this little cafe in Japan Village within industry city. It's my go to spot for a quick matcha or iced tea if I'm in the area. In the summer I love the yuzu black iced tea; it's lightly sweetened, sour, and refreshing! Their treats are also really good, special shout-out to the hojicha macaron and the chestnut cake. The cake is not super chestnutty but it's light and sweet and great for a midday treat!

During COVID-19 as of April 2021: I've been frequenting this little bakery/cafe inside Industry City's Japan Village when in Sunset Park. It's convenient for a quick to-go lunch and when I am craving my pastime favorite: Japanese pork katsu sando. What I like about their sando is the portion is hefty so the price is reasonable for $6. The pork katsu is the winner as it is always moist which causes the condensation inside the plastic container. Unfortunately because of that (and they are not made on spot), the white bread and katsu breading become soggy. The flavors, however, are still apparent and the taste is consistent. Besides the sando (they also have chicken), I like their yuzu matcha lemonade (do not have expectations of the presentation compared to the sample photo of how it should look like). Mine always had 95% matcha and 5% yuzu layer. The taste, however, is refreshing. Their matcha shortbreads are heavenly and they also sell Panya baked goods here (from St. Mark's Pl). Accepts cash and card. Indoor dining inside Japan Village/Industry City. Itadakimasu!

I came here on a Sunday afternoon for a snack. It's right in front when you enter from the main entrance to Japan Village. The place has Japanese buns and desserts from Panya. It seemed promising since I've always enjoyed the Japanese buns and desserts from Panya, a Japanese bakery in East Village. I ordered the pork katsu cutlet sandwich. It seemed like a good deal for $6. The bread was a bit soggy. The pork cutlet was not crispy. The only good thing was that the crusts were cut off and pork cutlet was not dry. The cabbage had a good amount of dressing. Service was fast and friendly. I may or may not come back, maybe I'll try a melon pan bun next time.

Located in Japan Village. On the left once you enter from the front. Bathroom is located outside of food court, in the middle between the buildings. They sell fresh bread and cookies. As well as cakes and desserts. There is seating around the booth. There price includes Strawberry Shaved Ice was average. Strawberry puree located at the very bottom, then shaved ice, topped with more strawberry purée and condense milk in a cup. The shaved ice in the middle of the cup has no flavor or purée making it super plain. Matcha Latte comes unsweetened. When you pick up your drink, there is a sugar station with sugar packet or simple syrup you can add. Whole milk is also available there. Orange juice is literally pulp for $3.75.

We got 2 curry pans, hojicha mousse cake, and chestnut cake to go. All were excellent.

Mostly just warm water for an "iced" drink

Ordered an iced tea. Very watered down and was lukewarm at best even after adding ice. They use a bit of the Korean grocery store yuzu mixed with water, so you get a ton of pulp

Cheesecake & Matcha Tiramisu. Do not recommend!
    Laura F.

Tried their matcha tiramisu & cheesecake. I was super excited and once I took a bite of both I was in pure disappointment. The matcha tiramisu cake part had small icey particles in it, obviously they froze this or it was leftover! Just unbelivable, terrible food quality. Doesn't even deserve a 1 star.

First time coming in person (I have been spoiled and a fantastic coworker would bring in different…read moretreats from here on occasion). The space is relatively small, with a line inside and outside and a few tables outside. The length of the line and wait time varies based on the time of day and if you go on a weekday vs weekend. Go early if you don't want them to sell out of anything or purposely go a little later if you want one of their lunch sandwiches on focaccia. I have had the tomato and garlic focaccia twice now and each time it has been exceptional. Minor critique, the slices of garlic could be a bit smaller. I also had the shakshuka focaccia which is divine and I would absolutely recommend both. I need to come back to try their sandwiches as well. I am not a sweets person, but everyone I know loves their pastries. Getting someone a gif tcard here makes for a great gift.

Dropped by Radio Bakery on the Tuesday morning after Memorial Day and the lines weren't too crazy…read more I got there in time to grab some breakfast items and baked goods, and then waited at a table outside for the lunch items to get set out around 11AM. I'm usually more of a savory girlie but all the sweet items we tried were great, especially the rhubarb croissant and the earl grey morning bun. I really enjoyed the focaccia sandwiches (smoked salmon and pea/mint/feta were elite) and the artichoke green garlic slice. The flavor of the sesame stirato was excellent but the bread itself was a tad too chewy for the filling we got with it (tuna salad), so that style probably works better with the jambon beurre. Will definitely be on the rotation whenever I'm in the city -- would love to try some of their seasonal/limited edition items one day, though not sure if I have it in me to brave the lines that can form on the weekends, lol! We'll see :)

Radio Bakery... is perfection. I completely understand the line…read more I first ordered the heirloom tomato & feta sandwich, which was unbelievable. It is so clear that they use incredibly high-quality ingredients and carefully curate each component, which is exactly why everything comes together in such an elevated way. The tomatoes reminded me of the ones I grew in my garden during California summers as a teenager. Perfectly salted, layered over soft, not-too-tart feta. The focaccia was made with beautiful olive oil and, while a bit chewier than I usually prefer, gave the sandwich a satisfying bite. I had to close my eyes while eating it just to savor it. The chocolate cherry almond croissant... wow. Such a creative combination, and it did not disappoint. Soft, buttery, and filled with a sour cherry compote that reminded me of a cherry cordial from a box of chocolates. 5/5. Hainsley, who helped me, was exceptionally lovely. Everyone even in line was very nice, the vibes were awesome. I'll definitely be back to try the spicy tofu sandwich and the heirloom tomato tart!

I went to Radio Bakery twice in a week recently and I am not mad about it…read more Loves: + The croissants are so good. Had the blueberry & corn ($9) and seasonal heirloom tomato ($8) and enjoyed them both. + My personal faves are the cheesy pretzel bearclaw ($6.50) and the shakshuka focaccia slice ($9) + Staff is quick and efficient and the long line outside is well organized The reality with Radio at both locations is there will be a wait. Line moves relatively fast but the slowdown is people deciding what to get, so I recommend looking at the menu in advance. Note about food drops: most items drop at 7:30am when they open, but late morning focaccia (eg. tomato & garlic) drop at 10am and lunch sandwiches drop at 11am!
