I'm glad I said yes because the focaccia is very fresh and was a great addition to the meal. For my main, I ordered the vodka pasta, which was very flavorful and very saucy. I love a good, thick vodka sauce and that's what you'll get here. The one part of the pasta I didn't really enjoy was the chicken inside the pasta. I think I would've preferred a grilled chicken option instead of the chicken that comes in the pasta. That being said, this place is a gem. The prices are great and the portions are hearty. The allergy thing they actually handled pretty well, but you would also think my order would have been memorable right? So then she takes the other three orders and then comes back to me to ask for my order again as though we hadn't just had a 5 minute conversation about basil. Unsettling. When it was time to order cocktails we ordered directly off the cocktail menu but she literally could not understand what cocktail I was ordering, a sazerac, and acted like she had never heard of one before. Bro it is literally on your cocktail menu. Then when it came to pay we asked to split the meal 50/50 across two credit cards. She couldn't figure it out and came to my friend and said his card was rejected. Which like...if you know my friend you'd know that was an impossibility. He literally got up and walked over to her station to figure out what the deal was. Apparently she kept trying to run the same card twice and so the system kept returning "duplicate charge" and from that she somehow got that his card didn't work so he had to explain to her that she needed to run the second card. Ambiance was adequate I guess? Pizzas came out fast (possibly causally connected to them being soup?). I dunno. I just don't know why I would ever come here again.

Chef Carlos clearly runs the kitchen well. Timing was great. Plating and preparation are impeccable. We enjoyed a lot of different dishes and honestly there was nothing close to a miss. The gnocchi paired with the by the glass was a rich velvety ride. If you would like something meatier, try the Pappardelle al Ragù paired with a light red. The 2023 St. Magdalener Classico was the perfect complement of some fruit and a touch of herbs or spice to play with the sauce. However, James, the sommelier is an excellent shepherd. My favorite marriage of food and wine though was the endive salad and a glass of the verdicchio on the by the glass menu. The bitterness of the greens with the acid of the verdicchio really bring out the best in each other. The branzino was expertly prepared and had just enough salt and heat to make each bite a pleasure. As we always report, the two of us are big eaters, but all in, with about three glasses of wine each and five courses, plus tax and 30% tip (for all of the guidance and great service) it was $600. However, most people can likely dine for less. We look forward to our next visit. I rarely give 5 stars on a first visit, but despite my best efforts : -P I cant come up with a meaningful criticism.

However, then I found Rosselli on a list of places that were difficult to snag a reservation. That whetted my appetite enough and I am glad it did. Rosselli is among the best dining experiences I have ever had in Washington DC. The decor is stunning! Elegance abounds. The tile in the entry/bar area is gorgeous! Worth every penny they spent on it. The rest of the dining room drips with sophistication and luxury. From the upholstery to the chandeliers to the murals to the ceiling (the likes of which I have never seen before). Stunning! The food was flawless! We started out with Parker House Foccacia. Don't miss it! Then the Burrata Pugliese. Okay, so we have all had burrata before and we love it. However, Rosselli takes it to another level with a side salad of arugula, pears and house-pickled cherry tomatoes that shocked me with their punch of sweetness and acidity. Genius! We shared the Tagliatelle al Pomodoro. Simple perfection - light San Marzano tomato sauce with a little ricotta and basil. Our main courses were the ribeye and the osso buco. The ribeye was intense beef, as it should be. Delicious! And the osso buco was lamb shank (not the traditional veal). I never used my knife. But I have to admit that the star of this dish might have been the risotto. The risotto had a rich, luxurious sense of cream and cheese BUT IT HAD NEITHER!!! The waiter explained that the risotto was plain and the creaminess came from the technique used to cook it. Mind blown! I consider myself pretty good at risotto and I cannot imagine making it without cream and/or cheese. Even though I was stuffed, I ate every kernel of rice. We ate like kings and gluttons and I am NOT embarrassed to say it. Okay now to the service! These people are professional, perfectionists and passionate about their jobs. Make no mistake about it - the service is just as much a part of the evening as the food. Henry, our waiter from South Carolina, was among the best waiters ever! So attentive and helpful. So confident at his job that he was not hesitant to tell us that he "did not know" the answer to some of our questions but he went and found out. I love that! I do not know where he will end up in 10 or 15 years, but based on his performance, he can write his own future and do or be anything he wants. Warm and inviting on a cold February night. The service? Professional, friendly and efficient. The food? Excellent and unique, even a dish that could be mundane like chicken breast. Honestly, how - after 66 years on this earth and countless chicken breasts consumed - can I rave about a chicken breast??? But the chicken breast at Al Tiramisu is different. The presentation was beautiful - sliced and then arranged back together like the chef was Michelangelo himself. The small amount of juice around the chicken was excellent - butter and salt and rosemary and a veritable symphony of umami flavors! Divine! The lobster bisque is like no other I have ever had in my entire life and I go back and forth to Maine several times every year! But I have never eaten lobster bisque as smooth, as liquid-gold as this with so much banging flavor!!! Every spoonful exploded in my mouth. When I was done, I used the bread to soak up every leftover dribble! I know, I know, this review is a little bit over the top, isn't it? But Al Tiramisu deserves it! Luigi, Nadja and the entire staff run a restaurant which cannot be surpassed. Treat yourself! Go to Al Tiramisu!!!!
