We love Cafe Beograd. It's a must when friends and family are in town, plus I love bringing anyone here who is food-adventurous and interested in trying something new. We often order the beef burek - and it is my favorite dish on the menu! It is the size of a dinner plate and cut into 4 pieces. The dough is delicious and chewy and the very outside is so crispy. Inside it's stuffed with flavored ground beef. It's SO good. We also often get the chevapci and/or the bacon-wrapped chevapci. I personally like to eat these with ajvar, a thick roasted red pepper side sauce. Actually, I like to eat everything here with ajvar. Definitely recommend you try it! On my most recent visit we also had the Shopska salad, which was soooooo good and I highly recommend. I love how they grate the feta cheese over everything. I've also had the serbian salad. And of course, SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT! Between the palacinke (crepes) or the number of amazing cakes they make in-house, you won't be disappointed. :)

Ever had Serbian pie? Cafe Beogard's house specialty is Burek - Filo dough pie stuffed with melty cheese & spinach. It's huge and totally worth the 25 min wait. Save room for their vegetable crepes & meat mixed sampler plate! Also, house made bread is AMAZING! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute cafe area with the dim lighting and lots of spread out seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good for a family dinner or solo time on a laptop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Simply amazing!! We had a very large group (about 15 of us) and they were very accommodating. I really enjoyed the roasted red pepper and the Ćevapi were well seasoned and delicious!! Beautiful playing as well!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant felt cozy with the lighting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The mixed sampler plate consisting of chevapchichi, spicy pork sausages, a pork chop, and pljeskavica was delicious. The bread was also delicious. However, service was so-so.

I admittedly have never had much Serbian food, but we are recommended to come to Café Beograd. Food is very meat centric but they're also very delicious pies and crêpes to satisfy which works for those nights that you're really looking for that comfort food that you're craving. We ordered too much and ended up bringing a lot of food back! Loved the food here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has a very chill and laidback atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] #serbian #chicago #comfortfood

Cafe Beograd is in the Irving Park area of Chicago. It's northwest Chicago. Also, Horne Park and California Park are just east. I like the neighborhood. The building itself is beautiful. It's a nice historic red brick building that sits on a street corner. I also loved the mural of Nikola Tesla, on the side of the building. The interior of the restaurant has a nice feel to it. It's clean and has a nice bar along with plenty of seating. It's also like stepping into a portal, going over to the former Yugoslavia. After entering the restaurant it didn't take me long to be seated at a table. I was seated at a corner high top table near the bar. It gave me a nice view of the whole restaurant. I started off with a Jelen beer from Serbia. Jelen pivo is a pale lager produced by the Apatin Brewery from Serbia. It has a nice smooth taste. For my entree I ordered the Mixed Sampler Plate. It comes with three cevapcici, two spicy pork sausages, one pork chop and pljeskavica. If you've never had Serbian grilled meat, this would be a great entree to order. I also ordered a Serbian salad as well. Entree was beautiful. Serbians grill meats very well. The salad was delicious as well. It's a lot of food and will absolutely fill you up. Definitely bring a healthy appetite! I passed on dessert or coffee. My only feedback for this place would be to pay attention to patrons when they've finished their entree and it's time for dessert or the bill. My waitress passed by me several times when I was finished, never bothering to ask me if I wanted dessert or the bill. Overall, a good experience here. I would return here again when I decide to visit the Windy City again. I strongly recommend this place if you've never had food from the former Yugoslavia. You're in for a treat!

Enter Cobblestone sight unseen. We did not have to re-park the car and were a stones throw away. It was a perfect night to sit outside but there was a wait, so inside we go! The menu is skinny! They had already sold out of the mussels by the time we arrived, so it was even skinnier! Everyone seemed pleased with their drink and food choices. They had a $10 sausage plate special that I thought would be ideal for an appetizer and it was. The shaved brussels salad was gorgeous, generous, delicious and filling. The sausage platter did not disappoint. My wife really enjoyed the duck raghu and the rest of the gang liked their burgers and fish and chips. Stand out drink of the evening was "spill the tea!" We will be back!

It was not an "Amuse bouche" which is a single bite item, it was much more but I'm not complaining about that! The appetizer was grilled octopus over sweet potato mash. I learned that day that sweet and grilled octopus is not a good mix. It was nearly gross. I picked the octopus up and tried to brush off as much of the sweet potatoes and possible. The octopus tasted good but was over cooked. My main was the branzino. It was charred to a crisp and full of bones. It did not taste good and was extremely difficult to eat. I did not taste the German chocolate cake for dessert but was told it was dry and people barely touched it. My husband and others are our table got short rib goulash, which was served like a steak with gravy. It wasn't tender like short rib should be. He said the flavor was good at least. Someone got the fish and chips and said it was flavorless. Someone else got the burger and said it was also charred and over cooked. Over all, pretty disappointed. Cute place with decent service. Hopefully this was just an off night.

It was no problem for me as I was able to connect up to an Xfinity wifi spot and take 1 of empty tables! I ordered the sirnica which is a crispy cheesy cheese pie, and wow! It was HUGE. I took half of it back to share with friends, but it was piping hot and the cheese was pretty perfect. It was crispy on the outside with a perfect structure for a crisp but not too hard or difficult to heat. It also reheated beautifully the next day! Prices have gone up to $12 (I saw earlier reviews for $10 burek/sirnica), but still really good value. I'm not in this neighborhood often, but when I am - I'll be back to try the rest of the menu.

Throughout the evening, multiple team members checked on us (not just our server) which gave the experience a very polished, almost Michelin level feel. The ambiance is classic French bistro meets old money elegance: dim lighting, romantic, and perfect for date night. Food & Drinks: * Sidecar cocktail: Excellent. * French onion soup: The highlight of my meal. Rich, cheesy, perfectly oniony, and honestly one of the best French onion soups I've had. * Steak: My boyfriend enjoyed it, but I found it slightly chewy and under seasoned. The creamy sauce served with it, however, was delicious. * Mussels: Large portion with great garlic butter sauce and bread for dipping. The challenge was that most of the sauce sat at the bottom of the deep pot, making the mussels taste a bit bland at first. Interestingly, the leftovers the next day were amazing once everything had soaked in the sauce...flavorful and delicious. Overall: A charming French restaurant ideal for date night with standout service and a cozy atmosphere. I'd absolutely return and would love to explore more of the menu next time.
