Excellent little place on route one in Vero! I had the brisket, slaw, beans, and Mac and cheese (go big or go home, right). I ordered and I think it came out about 6 minutes later. Super quick! The slaw was great. Not too sweet, not too savory... right where I like it. No super loose either. The beans were tasty. Mac and cheese was alright... tasted yummy but I wouldn't say it's competing with the best. The brisket was moist, cooked perfectly, but came out not very warm for some reason. But... it was still delicious. The BBQ sauce options were right up my alley. I'll stop by again for sure before I head back up north! read more

We arrived at around 11:30 on a Sunday, the wait was only 13 minutes the hostess told us it would be about 15 which is always a plus! The brisket omelette was delicious and super filling, everyone else at my table enjoyed their meals as well. We got French toast, the biscuits and gravy and some sweet teas. My family has been eating at this location for the last 45 years beginning when it was Fat Boy's Bar-B-Q. It was always one of the main places to grab lunch or dinner on our Sunday drive to visit relatives after church. I was very sad when Fat Boy's closed, but the current proprietors of Café 66 have really done an amazing job of keeping the Fat Boy's charm while ramping the food up to a new level. I keep an eye on their Facebook page because a lot of my favorites are not on the main menu, but posted on their social media, such as Facebook. Their Fried Ribs are out of this world delicious. They smoke them, then deep fried (no breading of course), then tossed in an amazing Thai Chili sauce that is tangy and sweet, but not hot. Heavenly! They come in as an appetizer or basket with fries. In short, great food and excellent service. I ordered ribs with mac and cheese, baked beans and collard greens. The ribs were tender and well seasoned. The bbq sauce was a perfect blend with a little sweetness. All sides were delicious, especially the collard greens. They reminded me of my grandmother's and that says a lot. Their Friday catfish special is awesome. It is served with crispy fries, hush puppies, slaw and plenty of fish. The catfish didn't have that musty flavor that some places serve...like Cracker Barrel. The breading was nice and crispy crunchy. The coleslaw was just a touch sweet and had scallions in it adding a nice flavor contrast. The Cuban sandwich is Excellent here. It is truly the best Cuban in Vero Beach, & I would venture to say just about anywhere. They use shredded pork...which I prefer. It's tender & moist which seems to be a rarity at other places. Their service is always friendly & their other food is very good too, but I keep going back for that Cuban. Stopped in here with my Dad; read the Yelp review, and had it on my TDL. My dad got some scrambled eggs, I got their fanciest sandwich, and a pair of coffees. $18.17 (of which my sandwich was $11). The sandwich (a grilled meat, slaw and cheese monster) was good (kind of like food-porn) but dripping grease. So much so that it soaked through the paper wrap and bag and on to my freshly washed pants as I started to eat it. The homebrew cable-spool tables and chairs used for seating are innovative (no doubt leftovers from hurricane repairs) but uncomfortably high. It is hard to find; the signage along the road (none on building visible) Should just say 'CAFE 66'... simple and easy. This review is a 3.5 star review based on my recent experience. Found this place in the middle of no where. I mean its almost like taking a 2 lane road somewhere in Nebraska where you see nothing but cornfields and farms. This is place is literally attached to a building thats a tractor machine & supply/tool shop. A location where your cell phone signal might not work. Not sure if you want to get caught out here after dark. You can walk 30 yards and you're literally next to the cows, where a wire fence is separating the restaurant property and the farm. I thought I saw a cow hold up a sign that said "Eat More Chikin"....I guess they dont have to go far to get the beef. I'm joking...(but i'm not joking). All jokes aside, the place is ok. I like going to the hole-in the walls. Seems pretty peaceful when you can sit, look out of the landscape and catch a nice breeze. The sit down area to eat is cool, rounded tables and benches, under a big umbrella. But i'm not sure if most ppl would be interested in eating outside due to the flies. As i've mentioned the landscape is mainly farm land, and anytime you have this kind of landscape and animals nearby there will be a gang of flies. Its just the nature of the environment. Checked out the menu, saw they had burgers and was like i gotta try their burgers. I've been traveling all throughout Florida looking to find the top 5 burger spots. We were interested in trying the Cubano Burger which had ham, pulled port, swiss cheese, pickles , mayo and mustard and the Ring of Fire Burger which has onion rings, jalapenos, spicy mayo, cheese sauce, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. The combination of each burger are great ideas. Both had a nice soft bun, which is a critical piece when putting together a burger. Great toppings on both. The Ring of Fire Burger is pretty messy because of the cheese sauce (almost like cheese whiz - what they use for Philly Cheese Steaks) that was used on the burger as you can see in the picture. In my opinion what was common in both burgers that would add more taste value would be seasoning the meat. To me this huge...I love flavor, and i didnt get this from the burgers we ordered. The ham on the Cubano Burger gave it a little bit of flavor because pork is naturally salty. But if the cook were to get some good burger seasoning together, i believe this would take their burgers to the next level. The burger was a homemade patty, 1/2 lb, nice, and thick. Just the way i like it. If im ever in the area and came here again, i would request for my burger patty to be seasoned. read more
