2.5 at best I'd say. More like a 2. I think it was okay. Friends were telling me that the sale point is normal pricing for the area but I don't think that's necessarily true.
We had gotten bottomless mimosas as well, which was kind of silly since they told us halfway through that their practice is to make it glass by glass as you finish, but if you sit in a certain area you may not get checked on as much as you'd like. I don't get the business sense when you have 3 people drinking from a carafe and reduce it to getting each glass one by one when your service doesn't reflect the proportion. Accommodate adequately if you're going to do things a certain way, otherwise if you're going to do it wrong don't tell us and then fail at it.
Anyway, rant end. I had tried the vegetarian noodle salad, the fresh autumn avocado rolls, and the master stock crispy chicken.
The vegetarian noodle salad wasn't worth the price. The mushrooms were different temperatures which just meant that the portobello was cooked sometime before, then sliced and thrown into the bowl. Spells cheap. It also didn't really taste like anything itself so it wasn't spiced at all really prior to it being cooked whenever they did cook it. The amount was quite little as well. I wish that the portobello had been cooked and treated the same way as the shiitake and the oyster since those were pretty yummy albeit very little. The mushroom reduction didn't taste of mushroom at all. Honestly, just soy sauce and mirin; a typical asian brown sauce. The noodles themselves were basic glass noodles. For 14, not worth. That's 2 oz of okay whiskey somewhere.
The master stock crispy chicken was one leg quarter thrown over yu choy. The surface didn't stay crispy for very long for one, two the flavor is only really on the outside. I could guess at a few ways since the meat didn't have the flavor. Slow cooked, possibly lightly smoked, maybe low oven temp and then cooked with the sauce to crisp the skin and infuse. In any case, 12? Nah, I'll pass for one leg quarter. The yu choy was pretty good though but there wasn't much of that either.
The fresh autumn avocado rolls were pretty good. Still kinda high for spring rolls basically. The use of bean sprouts was pretty interesting since they provided crunch, but not that much avocado inside. Peanut sauce was decent. My biggest gripe is that at a table of four, these weren't cut at all to split. Lazy. Just lazy. Perhaps they're not wrapped well enough to cut into a bunch of small pieces but not even into halves without a knife anywhere in sight seems dumb to me.
All in all, I wouldn't end up here again. Price to satisfaction was low. Plus, I was still hungry. Maybe it'll get better later since it seems that this place just switched. I wouldn't hold my breath tho. read more
