cute spot on the corner for sure - so you'll be tempted. but honestly - the first awkward thing was when i asked for a macchiato (which is on the menu) the girl working asked me something along the lines of "is that the one with chocolate, we don't have chocolate right now" after a couple seconds of looking confused, and when i was about to explain what it is - the other girl working says to her, "no, thats the mocha" -- "ooh right" so, i ended up with something like a confused cappuccino. who knows. i didn't like being that frustrated customer.... but, i mean... why be a barista if you don't take the time to know what your cafe is serving? all the pastries look amazing ... i tried an empanada, frittata, and a chocolate croissant .. but... all three needed some more love. the croissant was filled with small bits of chocolate that hadn't melted inside of it. and the two former items had such little flavor i just picked at them. i think the place has good intentions - but theres a lot left to be desired. read more

They're developing, some stuff is missing for sure. The four stars is based on my two experiences getting pastries to go. The mini linzer cookies I got were awesome. Buttery shortbread with a nice snap and perfectly portioned with jam. The next time I got a cinnamon roll and damn, just damn. It's not some sloppy Cinnabon thing- it seems to be made with croissant dough and manages to be flaky, crunchy, sticky and gooey all in the same bite. They're not playing around with that roll, it's a contender. So yeah, if you want to pick up a special treat for someone, the selection of pastries is great and they seem to know what they are doing with them. read more

So happy to live so close to this place. Walking down the block in the morning to get a delicious, still-warm baguette for less than $2? Yessss. The more substantial breads have been really good too. I tell everyone to go for their cinnamon roll, which seems to be made of croissant dough. It's perfect. Haven't been disappointed by Bushwick Bakery yet. I also appreciate their Grumpy Hour special, where you can get a large coffee for $1 before 8am (?), so nice for when I'm running late for an early workday! read more

3 stars because the coffee is the best the food is delicious and the atmosphere is absolutely charming! However... I've been coming to this bakery for their amazing coffee and friendly service since they opened. They have been a favorite of mine for a long time which is why I feel compelled to write this review - because whatever is going on there currently is extremely off-putting. For months now, a pal of either the owner or the main barista's, has taken up residence inside the already tiny cafe - so good luck ever getting a seat at the one small table they offer inside. Sometimes that pal brings his pals in as well, and the talk is often loud, crass and violent stories. Sometimes it's even a tad misogynistic. Today I walked in to see the main pal with his foot out of his shoe and his leg outstretched on the bench in front of him - like he was home. It was the first thing you saw walking in the door, some guys dirty sock propped up on the furniture. None of this behavior seems to bother the owner which is surprising as he seems to take real pride in what is otherwise a beautiful little French bakery. It also didn't seem to bother him the day the (male) barista's decided it would be funny to put out a tip jar that referenced "shit" porn. Not too funny to a gal walking into a bakery apparently run by a bunch of boys that think it's hysterical- even when I mentioned it made me uncomfortable and refused to put money in it. They decided to keep the jar up for a few more days. In short it's getting harder and harder to justify going to a place that doesn't seem to care about the customers and appear to be more interested in using it as a hang out for a boys club instead. C'mon Bushwick Bakery... You can do better than this! read more

Great place if you live in the area or anywhere you should definitely try this amazing bakery

I stopped in for the first time today, despite living just a few blocks away for a year. I forgot to get bread at the market so thought I could snag a loaf here. They have baguettes, regular white loaves, and wheat ones. I got a wheat and it's crusty, soft on the inside, and delicious. Only stopped from giving 5 stars because there was one person working up front who had to do everything, including making sandwiches and coffee drinks, and I had to wait ten minutes just to grab one loaf of bread. I'll be back though. I'd like to see how the coffee is. read more

Love this place!! They have amazing bread, delicious sweets and pastries, and good enough coffee. The sandwiches are also very tasty. The only complaint I have about this place, which is honestly kind of troubling given that they are a French bakery, if that their croissants leave MUCH to be desired. I bought a plain one and ended up throwing it away because it tasted bready, and moist like a Starbucks croissant. My father tried an almond one and had the same critique on top of the fact that it was burnt. Until they step up their game, try heading up the street to Central Cafe for their croissants, they are MUCH better. That being said it certainly doesn't stop me from enjoying the other items they have to offer. I will definitely be a returning customer. read more

The least friendly staff and the most unreliable bakery ever (6/10 times I'm going there there is no bread) !

I used to love this place and had considered it to be a gem of Bushwick, but ever since Pepe left, the quality of the food and the service has gone down drastically. To begin, the cookies and pastries are often stale now. During one of my last visits, I had to ask whether the pastries were fresh or not before placing an order. As for service: the new young baristas are often texting or have headphones on and in generally have an excruciatingly slow pace. On several occasions, I have simply left after standing at the counter for over 4 minutes while the barista was whistling on headphones and not acknowledging me. It saddens me, especially as I work close by, but I will no longer be giving business to Bushwick Bakery. read more

Been by twice. Didn't experience any terrible service. I mean, c'mon ppl, you've been to Starbucks and some store's have horrendous service but you're not on Yelp yapping about it. Oh no I stopped by a few days ago after returning from Los Ángeles and was told that AMA, the girl who worked with that really bad cut in her finger last December quit. she was too good and my coworkers at the junior high school admired that she was always smiling under pressure and multi tasking. Now I go in and I don't get a smile. the employees are always more into their phones than the actual customers. can you get her back I miss her hospitality and her Capps. The way she spoke about the pastries was amazing and I always left with something new. can you get her back. Judging from other customer reviews, looks like your bakery needs her. read more

I have lived about 100 feet away from this place for half a year and never gone in, finally today i stopped inside on my way to work even though i was running late. My iced red eye was on point, but then i saw tiny 3 ounce cups of granola that looked good. What followed, left me confused and bewildered: the guy refused to sell me granola unless I let him add milk or yogurt, despite pleading with him that I would pay the higher price that included the yogurt but that I really did not want the yogurt added because i could not eat it right then and there. Nobody likes soggy granola, and its not like a sandwich where its supposed to be enjoyed "as is" or that not adding yogurt was going to create a headache for the kitchen. The only way this could make sense to me is if they served their granola with homemade yogurt, but their 5 gallon bucket of generic yogurt made me think that this is not the case. So instead of gaining a local resident as a happy customer because I was willing to pay top dollar for said tiny cup of dry granola, i am here on yelp to say that this place is stupid. Ill give a 5/5 for their coffee and desire to stick to their principles...and a zero out of 5 for having the most bizarre and customer-unfriendly principles ever. This place, like soggy granola, is undesirable to me now and I welcome an explanation of wtf is so sacred about your granola that it cant be purchased without being tainted by your generic looking yogurt or milk.
