Burmatown is an exceptional restaurant, which is easy to believe once you eat here and see the line to get in. With the covid-19 situation they are doing take out and it looks like they will be starting outdoor seating as well. I got the fried chicken for 2 meal, but it would easily serve 3 as the chicken was so large. The fried chicken tasted similar to their delectable chicken wings, which I'm a huge fan. Included were rice, macaroni salad, corn salad and the chef's hot sauce. The corn salad was my favorite side, but I wish it were a larger portion. Hot sauce was so delicious too. Came here for the first time after seeing other photos and reviews on Yelp. We walked up and were immediately greeted and able to sit down outside. Staff was timely and super nice! We went to order and they even made us the potstickers which weren't currently on the menu for that day. That was a bonus! Food came quick, and presentation was amazing. OMG!!!!!!! To hell with with any other nearby place. Hands down Burmatown is freaking out of this world!!! It is very small but worth the wait. The food is delicious, fresh and will tantalize your taste-buds. If you like spice, be sure to ask them to turn up the heat. It's such a cute, family owned (mama still cooks) restaurant. So I read that Burmatown has opened its new location at 18 Tamalpais Drive in Corte Madera, just down the street from the original location. I decided to treat myself to an early dinner at 4:30 PM, when it wasn't busy. The new place is light, open and airy, with wood block tables, dark banquettes, and a bar running the length of the house. I ordered a Paloma spritzer on this warm summer day, which was a delightful choice. A combination of sparkling wine and grapefruit soda, it was quite refreshing. The specials of the day included roast duck, which was served with coconut rice, mixed squash, boiled potatoes and a sauce that was slightly spicy and perfect with the tender slices of duck breast. I was able to compliment the chef, Jenny, on her wonderful meal, when she came out to inquire how I liked it. The service was relaxed and friendly- everyone seemed to take personal joy in being there. My choice of lychee tapioca pudding was a lovely end to this amazing meal! read more

Service was great. Food was pretty disappointing. We've picked up food from here before and it was pretty good.. So I though it would be a good to take some friends from out of town. I did enjoy the Shrimp Basil stir-fry. Well balanced and a good portion. Lots of green beans. Bbq Pork Garlic noodles which I have gotten before were too saucy and way too salty and greasy. Also got the Shrimp Jalapeño Chow Fun. It was ok but too saucy. UBE tapioca pudding dessert was watery and didn't taste much Uber sound good but needs improvement . I'm writing this after I just rinsed off all the sauce on the noodles to make them edible for my lunch leftovers. Might give it one more chance hopefully it was just a bad night or a new cook. Consistently delicious food and good service. The tea leaf salad, shrimp bao tacos, steak bao tacos, crispy wings and garlic noodles are standout dishes - but everything on the menu is fantastic. We are lucky to have this authentic gem of a restaurant in Marin County. They do a consistently good job with takeout orders, the food is always hot and tastes freshly made. Hostess ignored me at first when I walked up to her she looked right at me then turned away without even greeting me. Servers were great, though. Bao bun was overly seasoned and tasted mushy like how meat gets when you marinate it too long. Garlic noodles were okay, best out of all the things I tried. The curry noodles I didn't like because it was cold and thrown together. Coconut cake was very good but the ice cream it was served with tasted stale like refrigerator. Beer choices were excellent. This cozy Burmese restaurant in Corte Madera definitely deserves FIVE STARS! The restaurant has a cute store front and as you are seated, you are welcomed by a small mason jar filled with fresh flowers as your table decor. Our waiter was consistently attentive throughout our dining time there and made sure to check in and to see if everything was up to par. Accommodations to items were made upon request for our son. The crispy angel wings that are usually dipped in chili garlic gochujang sauce were brought out with the sauce on the side. The sauce was very flavorful and delicious and having it on the side was a treat for us adults so we could use it as a dipping sauce for other items we ordered. The usual nori-drizzled fries were brought out with the nori and sriracha aioli on the side. The fries were fried perfectly and stayed crunchy until the last one was eaten. For the drinks: our green tea was brought out in a tea pot with super cute kitty mugs to drink our tea from. The thai iced tea was brought out in a mason jar. The mango salad was light and refreshing, served with a mint and lemon fish sauce with just the right hint of spice to it. The hoisin glazed baby back ribs was served with garlic udon noodles. The ribs were tender and came right off the bone. The chicken curry noodles was tossed in front of us by the server, which created a nice affect. The basil shrimp stir fry was stir-fried with just enough flavor and not too oily. This is our favorite Burmese restaurant to date! Must try! read more

Tonight was our first night dining in at Burmatown. We were one of the last tables seated and we got seated immediately. We arrived at 8 pm on a Tuesday night. Seems like a great time to come, very easy to find parking too! Every staff member at this place is so kind and welcoming. It really has that classic family-run restaurant vibe. We ordered the wings(to die for), the mango salad, the house garlic noodles, and my partner got the spare ribs. To finish, we had the cheesecake, and omg it is perfection. Everything we ate was so delicious and unique. I really recommend dining in on a random weekday night as it was nice to have no wait. The feeling of having angel wings tonight with my wife was definitely deja vu since I first tried it over four years ago. Highly recommend the Ola King Salmon, hands down the best salmon ever and it goes so well with the mango salsa. Tea leaf salad is a very unique dish. We were really, really excited to sit down and enjoy our meal. But our tastebuds really weren't ready. Our first course were the angel wings. The perfect combination of crunch skin to juicy meat bite was overwhelming. These were quite possibly the best wings I've ever had. That glaze was so magical. Please order this dish if you come. There's a reason why it has been posted so many times in the food pics. Second course was the falafel salad. That tamarind and fish sauce dressing is so refreshing. It keeps you going one bite after another. We couldn't stop! And then came the ribs and garlic noodles. We were just so wowed by the fantastic flavors that we really couldn't find anything that we didn't like about our dining experience. The cilantro hot sauce is SO GOOD. The staff were all very sweet and chef Jenny came to greet the diners. We had a very lovely experience here and will definitely be coming back again. We took a chance on trying Burmese food in Corte Madera. The restaurant was packed but fortunately we did not have to wait for a table. The ambiance was comfortable and the vibe was fairly chill. We ordered the tea leaf salad, garlic noodles, a Thai shrimp and green beans stir fry (yes, not a Burmese dish), the dry ribs, and a combo of jasmine and coconut rice. The portions were larger than what you would get in San Francisco, so that was a plus. The noodles were moist and tasty as was the Thai dish. The dry rib dish was a bit overcooked but also tasty. The tea leaf salad was spot on. Overall, the food was good and the portions were larger than we expected. The service was also fine (good but not great). We shared a pudding dessert which hit the spot for a bit of sweet to finish our meal. As we were finishing up our meal, a very loud noise emanated through the restaurant. Oddly, the restaurant staff decided to allow some maintenance work on a booth begin while patrons were still enjoying their meals. The staff apologized for the noise but the noise continued. Our dining experience at Butmatown was a good one but their decision to begin maintenance work while the restaurant was open was a bit of a head scratcher. Hopefully that was a one off event. I would recommend Burmatown if one is in the mood for Burmese food while in Marin. read more

I've never had Burmese food before but wow, after coming to Burmatown, I absolutely love it! This is officially one of my favorite spots in Marin. Since I last ate here, I've been thinking about angel wings regularly and about when I'll eat here next. It's that good. My husband and I ordered the angel wings to start, followed by our entrees which were the bbq pork garlic noodles and the chicken noodle curry. First off, all three items were divine. Each entree was packed with flavor and had its own taste. My hands down favorite dish during my meal were the angel wings and yes, they are seriously angelic. I'm not a big wing fan but wow, they are seasoned and crisped to perfection. When we finished this appetizer we were debating ordering another. Between the two main entrees, I preferred the chicken noodle curry as it was packed with herbs and flavor. When the server brought this dish to the table, he explained all of the ingredients and mixed them together. Usually curry tastes pretty heavy and creamy, however, here it almost tasted like a light Italian pasta dish since it had noodles and the sauce was much lighter. The bbq pork noodles were very tasty too. Honestly, I'd order all three entrees again in a heartbeat. As far as the atmosphere, this place is small but it is nice and cozy inside. We came here right as it opened on the weekend and got seated right away (granted it was rainy). During our visit the service was great and the staff was very friendly. If you come here and have to wait, the food and service is definitely worth it. I honestly can't wait to come back and try more dishes on the menu. Definitely a Marin local gem! read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon. Great service, attentive staff. We ordered the spicy pork bao bun (3/5 stars), chicken and squash coconut curry (3/5), braised short rib curry (5/5) and mushroom garlic noodles (4/5). I would definitely order the garlic noodles and braised short rib curry again. The braised short rib curry is basically a beef rendang but it's more coconut milk so it's not as salty or spice-heavy as most other rendang dishes I've had. The chicken coconut curry was decent. More diluted than what you'd expect from a curry, but the chicken was cooked perfectly. Garlic noodles were a hit! Could use more garlic if you're a garlic lover but overall we would order it again. The spicy pork bao was mediocre for our liking. We were thinking it would be a piece of pork belly but it was a few pork slices. Overall we would return if we're in the area. read more

As a rule, Marin's passion for ethnic cuisine expands all the way from French to Italian cuisine and falls somewhat short where much of Southeast Asia is concerned. Burmatown is an exception though; an exceptional exception. I last had Burmese food in San Francisco where I recall somewhat mild, pleasant flavors of which the Tea Leaf Salad is one example. Michelin makes mention of Burmatown - quite a coup for such a tiny suburb-sited restaurant - and recommends sticking with the Burmese food over the Asian fusion fare here, but recommend the place they do. I read that then ordered what I wanted. Oh my. The Tea Leaf Salad is still a pleasant experience but it was the other flavors here that blew my socks off. Were they Burmese or Asian fusion? Who knows. All I know is that they were purely delicious. Chicken Wings were presented in a glaze that pooled on the serving plate and of which we were so fond that the server stuck a hand-written note below the seemingly empty plate: "Do not remove" it read. A Chicken Curry was rich and satisfying, especially when paired with the addicting Coconut Rice. Meaty Short Ribs fell off the bone. Very good stuff. The menu asks that you let your server know if you want things spiced up and because we did, our server brought out a side of homemade hot sauce. Lime-y and delectably hot, this sauce brought life to my mouth. At meal's end mine was one of the only tables left in the previously packed and busy dining area. Chef Jenny emerged to ask how we'd liked the meal and prepared to sit down to her own meal which, had I been asked and as full as I was, I'd have joined in on. It looked simply fabulous.
