Tried out the wok-tossed chili chicken, mango chicken, kebat chicken, and the fiery chicken with a side of jasmine & coconut rice. The wok-tossed chili chicken was not spicy for my taste, but I enjoyed the rich spice flavoring it had to it. The mango chicken, kebat chicken, and fiery chicken were ordered by the party I was with. I was excited to try this place because I'd never had Burmese food before and the menu pictures made it all look so flavorful. The cocktails we ordered were solid. The samusa appetizer was great as well - flavorful and perfectly crispy. The shrimp & eggplant was also pretty solid, but seemed like a stir fry dish one could make at home. The Mohinga, or catfish chowder soup is what disappointed me. It was advertised on the menu as " the national dish of Burma" and "not for timid taste buds" so I was expecting unique, colorful flavors. The food here is great! I don't eat a lot of salads everyday, but the tea leaf salad is sooo good. Their noodles are delicious, and the food is super clean and light, but also filling and homey. I love the fish sauce and various spices. Sometimes the smell can be pungent for people who are not used to it, so you can get the tea leaf salad without the fish sauce (but why would you lol). The Shan noodles are perfectly spiced and flavorful without being too sweet or oversaturated in sauce. And the dipping sauce with the roti - my indulgent fave and carb load of the meal. I could eat that roti for days. The place is fairly busy weekend nights and happy hour but can be pretty slow some weekday evenings if not much is happening with conferences at Moscone. I actually like when it's busier, as the place insulates the background noise pretty well and it feels less empty. And I'm still able to hear my friend and have a nice dinner conversation. They did try to stick us at a table next to the stairs with blocked views, so we asked to be reseated a table over in a more open area, and the staff was totally nice and accommodating. The interior was very modern and chic, we enjoyed the little area we were sitting in which gave us a little more privacy to talk. I actually need an extra star option because Burma Love was that incredible!! Where has Burmese food been all my life? I had never even heard of Burmese food when my coworkers had suggested it. I love Burmese food but have only had it in San Francisco. I know there are a few Burmese restaurants in Dallas/Lewisville, I must visit them ASAP. Meanwhile I wish we had something on the westside of the metro. I would be there ordering tea leaf salad every other day! I originally wasn't sure how much I'd like a tea leaf salad because I don't enjoy green tea, but I LOVE it. Burma Love serves a classic version: fermented tea leaves tossed with a crispy mixture of nuts, seeds, beans, and fried garlic with lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, cilantro, scallions, peppers, and fresh lemon. It's super crunchy, bright, nutty, and umami-y. A little sweet, too. It covers all the bases! Add as much red pepper as you want for heat. My friend and I ordered the gluten free and vegan tea leaf salad to share and totally devoured it. I also enjoyed the coconut chicken noodle soup (also gluten free), described on the menu as "slowly cooked together with chicken thighs, coconut milk, onion, garlic, and turmeric... garnished with cilantro, fresh onion, eggs, chili, and lemon." We had lunch around the same time the following day. I made sure we got the traditional Burmese green tea salad for good measure. Tea salad is my favorite Burmese dish, but what got me was that the menu stated how theirs was an award-wining recipe. The salad was excellent and by far the best Burmese green tea salad I've ever had. I loved that the restaurant offered lunch specials, so I got the Burmese curry with chicken. It came with a side of rice (your choice of coconut rice or plain jasmine) and mango salad. I loved everything about the dish. Beautiful, fluffy rice. The mango salad was refreshing and had such a different taste compared to the green tea salad. The chicken curry was obviously the star of the dish. Yum yum, every time I have burmese in the city I'm never left disappointed or without a big belly sticking out. Everything we had here was absolutely delicious! We had the chili pork lunch special which included the tea leaf salad. Obviously the tea leaf salad was amazing. The pork was so good but I must admit, pretty spicy. We got the garlic noodles with shrimp and the wok tossed chili chicken. The food came out really quick after we ordered which was nice, and service overall was friendly and attentive even with the restaurant being busy. My only real complaint here is the price point, it's definitely a bit of a fancy restaurant with higher dinner prices. We opted for no drinks since the cocktails were 18-20 dollars which seems steep. Lovely space! First time to this location! Food was solid as always! Our server was very friendly, but not very attentive unfortunately. Never really checked in on us. Took out app order and we finished those. Came back and asked if we want the check. Advised him we wanted to order entrees and we did. Food all came out quick so not a big deal. We all just wanted a second cocktail during the entree but no one came by to check. We thought about going to the bar to order, but frankly much too lazy. Lol.
