This store is located in the Westgate Mall shopping center. I can't believe I actually found a decent coat from here!! Now, it's just called Burlington, but it used to be called the Burlington Coat Factory, and was known for all kinds of coats. I've been here a few times, and while it's hit or miss if I find something (mostly miss), my last visit here was decent. Now, it was a hassle to be able to try on the coat, because security measures have all the coats secured, and you have to track someone down to unlock it for you, but I understand, the times we live in. This location is incredibly spacious however it is the opposite in the realms of having a variety of clothing. Burlington Coat Factory is supposed to be famous, notorious for selling an incredible select selection of clothing that should be arranged from all shapes and sizes to both genders and from elderly to youth. The unfortunate reality is that the selection here was as most people have noted on yelp slim to none I literally had only five articles of clothing to choose from for my size regarding shirts or long sleeve shirts. I even spent some extra time to try and see if this is one of those instances where the sizes got mixed up or were tagged on the coat hanger wrong. Unfortunately, there was nothing. I literally found nothing that fit what I was looking for and to make matters worse when you look at everything else that they have, it literally feels like they're going for a demographic that does not need to dress professionally. I also took notice that a lot of their items available were for bigger sized people which took up a lot of space due to the stock but at the same time all the other shelves remained bear. I can't say there's a value here because when literally almost nothing of what you are looking for is not available and at a ridiculous price, the best price for your wallet is to simply leave empty handed. Overall, I don't think I'll ever come back here. Parking was atrocious, the security guard that gave me entry wasn't rude or aggressive, but she also wasn't friendly and physical demeanor was ready to throw hands with anyone who was ready to create a disturbance. If you happen to find anything here that is useful or exactly what you're looking for, I salute you because due to the lack of variety and the not friendly nature from staff, I overall felt like my time there was burden a to my day. Went in to purchase a jacket. Found one I liked that was locked to the rack it was hanging on. I get it, stores have to do this nowadays. I went over to a clerk and asked if someone on the floor could unlock a jacket I want. The guy said yes he would call someone over. I wait for about 10 min, no one came, then finally a lady walking by looked like she worked there, so I asked her if she could help with the jacket. She seemed really nice, told me she needed to get the key to unlock it. So I saw she acknowledged the jacket I wanted, and figured I would go stand in line while she did what she needed to do. Get key unlock jacket, bring to counter for purchase. The line was long, I literally waited 35-40 min before getting up to the register. The whole time I'm in line, I'm looking for the lady who was getting my jacket, wondering why I don't see her. Finally I get up to the register and explained to the guy what the jacket looked like, it was a black and white Guess jacket, with Guess in black letters on each arm. He is looking around and does t see it. The lady happened to walk by so he flagged her over and asked where the jacket was. She said it's over on the rack. There was a Guess jacket, but not the one I wanted. So she's says my bad, I'll go back and get the right jacket. I said I would go with her to make sure she picks the one I wanted. We walk back to the jacket dept and guess what. Jacket is gone. I'm searching every rack I know the jacket I wanted and it's now gone. The manager keeps telling me that she's the only one with a key. I was livid and couldn't believe this manager was pulling this on me. Between me standing in line and her going to get a key for a locked up jacket that is no where to be seen. I waited in line for 40 min and left with nothing zero stars. To customer service responding. How about you check your cameras in the San Leandro store since that's where it was. Look at about 6:30-7:30 pm day of this review, you may find the manager on the floor with the key is guilty, as she put it, "The only one with a key". read more

I only like this place because they have a large selection of baby and toddler clothing. A much larger selection than few doors down at Ross. The only minus is that there aren't enough cashiers and the last 2 times I went there was a very long line. They need to staff up. read more

I would like to know why they closed the Hayward location. That location was much bigger, it had two floors, and there was more inventory. Here in San Leandro, the parking is awful. There is a greeter at the front to count how many customers for Covid precautions. The floor has green and red tape up and down the aisles to notate what direction to walk in...kinda distracting and junky with the tape but whatever works I suppose. This store seems to always look blaaah. I was so excited to hear that they were turning this place into a Burlington. However they didn't meet my expectations. Feels like the 2 other tines i've came here, each time the floors weren't stocked, clothes everywhere, stuff thrown on floor. I've wandered in after a recent trip to another store in the plaza. I guess I wasn't ready to go home and wanted to peruse the store. The first thing I saw were purses... Yeah, I'm in need of a good work tote. I gathered 4 to try on in full length mirror. Meh, they were all pretty mediocre so I decided not to waste $30+ and settle. Based on brief perusal, everything looked pretty bland. Wasn't really in the mood to check out clothes. There was a red egg ginger party in a month (aka banquet to celebrate baby's one month birthday), so I devoted some time in the baby department. There were a lot of great prospective presents. I had it narrowed down to a sitting pillow and an Eddie Bauer mommy/daddy backpack ($40). I went with the backpack because it's quality and also it's gender neutral enough that my dude cousin will help carry when the family is out on adventures. Score! Also snagged a large gift bag, so I'm set. Another productive shopping trip. BTW, they don't accept NFC payment other than Samsung Pay. Also a huge inconvenience to the customer... They made me return the basket after checkout... All the way past the entrance. Imagine shoppers with their hands full juggling items having to do their job for them. No bueno... this Burlington looks like an actual store, not an outlet prepping for a closure. signs are clean, shiny, clearly pointing to what is sold in a certain section. this one floor Burlington is packed with the usual men's, women's, young adult section, with sections for shoes, handbags, toys, luggage. inventory is anemic with few selections per display item. aisles are very narrow, room for only one person at a time. good luck with trying to check out clothes while a mom is pushing a cart at u from one direction while a linebacker is trying to get past u from the opposite side. no associates were seen at all. maybe they were dressed casually so they could get some work done in plain sight. of course, the parking lot is a complete mess. having walmart nearby makes finding parking a lot more difficult. read more

EMPLOYEE STEALING... I decided to stop into Burlington to use a $25 gift card my aunt and cousin gifted me for Christmas.This was my first time here so I browsed around before I settled upon a Black Blazer and three Guess bracelets. As I got to the cashier Sarah, she spoke about New Years and how nice the bracelets were, she seemed friendly.I decided to go out to the Dollar Tree next door.Once I was done purchasing a few items at the Dollar tree.I wanted to look at my bracelets. As I searched around my Burlington bag they were missing.I read my receipt and noticed I paid for them so I decided to go back into Burlington to ask Sarah what does she think happened to them.I patiently waited for her to finish checking out her customer.Than I asked her "where are the bracelets I bought?"With a smirk she said "oh they are right here".She looked down near her feet and picked them up and handed them to me.I was taken aback be because I remembered her specifically saying how nice they were. I had realized she almost got away with stealing from me but was unsuccessful.I asked her why she would do that, and she was silent. The guy on the register next to her asked what was going on. It is possible to find some very good deals here on a wide variety of items ranging from home goods to children's dress attire, but you will have to be patient and thoroughly search through their displays to not miss a good deal. I just left Burlington in San Leandro, off of Davis street and experienced unsatisfactory customer service. I purchased about $40 worth of items more than 30 days ago and attempted to return the items. I knew cording to the return policy on the receipt I would receive a gift card as opposed to a refund to my original message for payment. I was OK with the policy and I purposely held onto my receipt so that I could easily get a refund and shop for something else. The cashier attempted to give me a refund for the full price but the items kept registering at more than 50% what I paid for them. I spent 20 minutes with the cashier trying to ring up the items for what I paid for them, tried a new register, soliciting help from a coworker, and calling the manager, Arnold who was completely clueless about what to do. First, he suggested using a new register, then calling IT, Customer Service and finally another store. All of this to find out the store policy is to refund whatever markdown price they come up with, if the items are returned after 30 days, even if you have a receipt. Not ONE employee knew this policy, the policy is not posted in the store or on the back of the receipt. I asked Arnold to show me the policy and he could not. For the first time in 20 minutes of wasted time, Arnold apologized... but not for my time, the fact that I'm out more than 50% of what I paid, he is the manager and doesn't know the store policy. He was sorry that he could do nothing and I could take the discount refund or call customer service. I'm very disappointed that the policy is not disclosed to the customers, the staff has no clue about it and the manager wasn't competent to handle the situation to the benefit of the customer. I should have been given the full refund or at least a percentage off of my next purchase for the time wasted and the hidden policy. I could've easily made more of an effort to return the items sooner if I had known. What a scam and a waste of my time dealing with untrained employees. I will not return to this store. read more

It's a hit or miss kind of store... some days i have a basket full of random great finds and others i leave with nothing... clothing is ALWAYS a miss for me... such a huge store and not much to pick from in terms of clothes... there could be the same sad looking pieces there for weeks at a time... in shoes i have a little more luck, always a cute sandal or pump that catches my attention ... What i ALWAYS have luck in is the home decor and essentials department... great place to get great looking wall decor, rugs, pillows, accent pieces, pots, pans, random kitchen gadgets, bedroom decor and bathroom pieces .... it's pretty much my go to for home items... some locations have more of a selection in clothing for me but this one seems to be my jackpot for home goods read more

Basically this is a well organized Goodwill or Thrift Store. Terrible customer service. Right off the bat it reminds me of Walmart type customer service, but worse. For this to be a new store, you would think they would have smiling faces and Greeters at the door. This is Burlington, not Nordstrom, you cant compare to an upscale store. This is a great place to shop. It's clean and things are organized. It's busy but not over crowded. The staff, I think she was probably a supervisor or managers she saw that my 1 year old daughter fell asleep and is totally knocked out. She offered to hold my items and I pull my car up. Customer services can be a tough department to work in. But, when you ARE customer service you have to be customer service. The staff here are fast and efficient at check out which is GREAT! But what doesn't help is there ATTITUDE mostly everyone at check out has this face of "get me out of here" look, like i said i understand customer service is tough (cause I work in customer service myself) and some customers can get rude and push your buttons when you are JUST here doing your job. But that doesn't mean you keep that stank attitude for the next customer. Staff here need to have a better attitude get rid of that "stank face" and "im better than you, know it all attitude" cause all of that is not helping. I've visited at this new Burlington in San Leandro store 3 times, it just opened about a couple months ago. It's huge very well organized, looks well stocked and neat. Lots of nice women's fashion jewelry but beyond that it's not that great. I checked for long wool coats, all the way in the back corner they only had 3 or 4 long coats-all in large sizes, none in my size and not good quality. They had about 2 racks of short jackets & coats. The 2nd time I was looking for a simple long sleeved black dress to wear to work but the ones they had were poor quality looking fabric, or gaudy party dresses. Looked at the shoes not a good selection, most looked like poor quality. And I noticed hardly any shoppers in there and it was 2 days after Thanks giving! So I went to Ross found 2 dresses within a few minutes. On the 3rd visit to Burlington I tried looking for a long wool coat again. There we were about 5 long coats all same style/brand, nothing I cared for. BTW the way, when you ask a sales person where something is, it seems they don't want to bothered especially when they're in a conversation with another employee. Years ago I used to shop at another Burlington when it was called Burlington coat factory and could get good quality long coats or good rain trench coats by London Fog. It now reminds me of DD's discount stores. Not good! read more

Being a resident of Oakland, I am full in favor of businesses establishing closer locations to me. I used to have to go to Hayward or Dublin to shop at Burlington Coat Factory. Unfortunately, this location will probably close soon because whoever works in HR and Management did a horrible job hiring and an even worse job in quality control. It is a complete MESS! Every employee (including the manager) was playing and conversations with a arch other instead of working. One of the managers asked an employee to check an item (with the customer present and waiting) and the employee said "for real" and the manager laughed and said "I guess I will ask someone else" and also laughed! WTH they will NOT get a second chance to make a first impression! They had nothing on the shelves. What was on the shelves was all over the place! They had at l set 9 people working and only one girl was folding rugs! And their customer service sucks! I really hope they get it together. read more
