Impressive. There is a plethora of items for $5 and below. They even had graphic tees. Nice ones! However, there weren't many shirts left. On this day, the store was in disarray. So it wasn't a good 1st impression. But IMO, many of the $5 items can be found cheaper at other stores. All in all it's worth checking out. Especially to buy gifts for school aged kids, e.g. Valentines, Christmas, prizes. read more

Five Below opened a year ago where Party City was. Retrofitted to a design all FIVE stores have. Products carried mimics what dollar stores & Dollar Tree carries. Plus better quality products or discontinued items that can be sold at an higher markup. Five makes 10% profit from sales. FiVE wants to increase its 1800 stores to 3500 stores in the next few years. This is possible due to some items sold at an higher.50 to $1 above their competition. (Grocery Outlet). Their main patrons are "teens, 'tweens & beyond" ( Ai Overview). I visited the Five-Below store at Alameda's Southshore shopping Center! It's not a typical dollar store. Most of the goods are $5 or less, with some items priced at $7- $10. Lots of seasonal goods for Halloween, party balloons, greeting cards, and trendy gadgets and toys. They have a big section for imprinted t-shirts. There's also a gadget section way in the back of the store with electronic accessories. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the store. I asked if this was a cash only business. The lady told me they accept cash and cards. It was near 7pm, and the store was a little messy. There seemed to be plenty of staff in the store. I didn't see anything I wanted, so I left. You know, I thought I knew what kind of store this was before I walked inside. I thought it's just a new type of "dollar store" that sells things priced under $5. I did some research, Five-Below sells a variety of goods at low prices, aimed at teens and pre-teens. Five-Below offers trendy fun stuff, including books and makeup. This is a decent store. There've been a few times when I want some fitness items for home and coming here is the best option to get some things at an affordable price. Truthfully, I really only care about the fitness section - an array of yoga mats, plenty of low weight dumbbells and kettlebells and I don't think they went over 8 lbs, yoga blocks, pilates rings, fitness bands, etc. I'll check their website in advance to see if they have certain items in store and it will say they don't but I arrive and they do, but it's a small quantity. So, I'd say just go in store. I've also purchased their Sol de Janeiro body butter dupes, and they're good for the price. The store is well staffed for the weekend. The checkout stations look like self checkout registers but there is always an attendant there to help. Idk... the best way I could describe this store would be like an American Daiso. read more

I love 5 Below, I only go in there for viral candy, I do love that they will usually have tons of it. My issue is that you walk in at any time of the day, and the place looks trashed. Things are everywhere, you are tripping over things on the ground. I dread going in because of this. There is also always a lot of empty space and they never seem to have a lot of other products. The staff are friendly and helpful and get through lines quickly, but I've only seen one worker there at a time. I'm not sure if they are short staffed or not. read more

Five Below is a good go-to for last-minute gifts, everyday stuff, and party supplies. I threw a super last-minute party for my toddler and teen nephew and realized the day before that we had zero balloons ‍ We ran into Five Below thinking we'd just grab some to blow up ourselves, but found out they inflate foil helium balloons too! It was close to closing and the staff still helped us inflate all six balloons without any issue. Seriously saved the day. Great service and always clutch for last-minute needs! read more

Word reached me through TikTok that Five Below had some Disney blind boxes. So of course, since I am loving this trend, had to go check it out myself. I came here with a hopeful mindset. I was wishing that this location would be better than the one I visited in Concord. AND thankfully it was better. I came here on a federal holiday. Parking was packed so it took time for me to find a spot. Walking in, around 11am, I come up to a bright store. Looks like I came in just in time too. The workers were putting stuff into the shelves. There were a couple of boxes but they weren't in my way or anyone else's. It was well stocked and clean inside. Everything was categorized and easy to find. It didn't take me long to find the Collection section. It was there that has a bunch of different types of blind bags and blind boxes. There was just so much I wanted but not enough money to justify getting them. I settled on one box of the Disney Villains blind boxes, and two bags of the One Piece Hanger Chains. As I made my way around to the shirts to my delight I noticed a shirt that said something about Chicken Tendies! There were even shirts on shows I watched as a kid like Lizzie McGuire and That's So Raven. I didn't purchase them today but I am hoping when I get back they will be there. Going into the line (it wasn't busy) there's this section of $1 only things. There was a bunch of candy to entice you too. One thing caught my eye and I immediately found this milk tea with boba keychain! Someone greeted me and scanned my three items. He was super helpful and super nice. The total cost of my items came to around $26.00 My experience was pretty great! 5/5 P.S. I got the keychain I wanted from the One Piece blind bag! read more

I grew up in a state and time where 5 and dime stores still existed. Everyone loves a little cheap something something! And Five and Below delivers! Now we know what we are buying; cheap sh*t that may disappoint. But the upside? It don't break the bank! And if you want your money back, 5 and Below has a pretty generous exchange policy. This store is a mess. Especially when you come in the evening, or after school hours. You might think this is a playground instead of a store. Kids and teens throwing stuff. Blocking aisles, shouting to their friends. The employees just let them do that. No one even care anymore. Don't think they want to be there either. Collections probably good, but I personally don't want to shop there because lack of service and unpleasant atmosphere. read more

I went in here to buy school supplies and walked out. Most prices are so inflated it's offensive. Backpacks are cheap but it probably won't last the whole school year. I looked around at some other things and couldn't figure out what people buy here that they feel like they're getting a deal. read more

My first impression when I walked in was this place was kind of a mess. Most of the shelves were either not organized or empty. A lot of random items were scattered throughout the store. There were no staff to be found except a girl that was working the self checkout area. I can't imagine that there was only one person working the whole store. There were also no cashiers or checkstands. The only way to pay for your stuff was through self checkout. The store seemed like a good place for kids and teenagers as there were a bunch of snacks, toys and essentials geared towards them. They had a few things that I thought were good buys. They had a ton of board games for $5 and a bunch of coloring & activity books for $1. If you were planning on coming to this store with children, you could buy a piece of candy for 15 cents or 10 pieces for $1.25 to keep them occupied for cheap. I thought the mini skateboard for $5 was really cool and perfect for little kids that want to get into skateboarding early. I don't think this store opened that long ago. I still remember when it was a Party City. I'm not sure why they can't have a couple extra people working to organize and restock the shelves. So I was super excited about the opening of this "five and below store" in Alameda, because it's only a few minutes from my house. The space is a lot brighter and smaller than when it was Party City. I think they need to hire more employees or better management bc the store is a HUGE MESS! (Gerald review was right.) It's like there are no employees straighten out the store. There are merchandise everywhere, even on the floor. (See my pics.) Went in for 10 minutes and left, super disappointed bc this was supposed to be a new store that opened at the beginning of May 2024 (less than a month). I'll come back in a few weeks to see if there are any improvements. Ps. I was gonna give them one star, I gave them an extra star because you can buy stuff for the beach like bubbles, towels, clothes, beach toys, snacks and drinks etc. read more

I came here after the gym and the store was clean and had lots of knick knacks. The had lots of candy, random toys and some clothes for sale. The checkout is a little strange as it looks like self check out but the cashier is scanning your items on the same side as you. Cool concept, but I don't think any business has thrived for a long period of time at this location in south shore. I hope they do well! read more

Today I walked into five below hoping to get a new eyelash curler but It started with overhearing the employees gossiping about how these kids need to go home and their mommas don't even know where they are, so I just ignored them. But the real fun began when I asked where the eyelash curlers were. Instead of being a good employee and helping me, this disrespectful thing started chatting with her friend in front of us with, talking about how "I" needed an eyelash curler. When I called her out, she had the nerve to ask what exactly I needed to curl, acting like my lashes aren't longer and thicker.Mind you this a senior citizen arguing with a minor. After that she said that she was just joking with me, and Im trying to act smart with her even tho she started it. After that she said if we keep on apparently "disrespecting" her then we would have to leave. So I said "bye bye I'll take my business somewhere else". To get my precious eyelash curler, I had to send in my dad, and she had a whole conversation saying a completely different story. She said that I insulted her age, even though she was mostly talking about my age and telling me that I need to go get a man. Five Below, get your employees in check, and maybe invest in some customer service training while you're at it, cuz I don't know who these little employees think they are disrespecting paying customers. read more

Grand opening was fabulous but the store has gone severely downhill since then. It seems as though they do not have adequate staffing to get product on the shelves. Aside from grand opening, I've given this location three more opportunities to 'WOW' me, yet every time I walk into this store with predominantly empty shelves and boxes of product sitting around on U-boats, but not enough staff to work it. I have been coming here since it's opened and had originally loved going and buying $100+ worths of unnecessary things, yesterday I went and decided to not spend my usual amount, as I was leaving I asked if the person at the front wanted to see my receipt only to be met with accusations of stealing from the store. I was told they had seen me take items and proceeded to ask me where they were, after they checked me and the one person I was with bag they found nothing and proceeded to give an incredibly weak apology for the time waste and embarrassment. Don't go somewhere that supports people doing their job incredibly wrong. read more

Yep, they do greet you the moment you walk in. Sadly, that was the highlight of visiting this place. Most everything was made in China, not of good quality. The cosmetics were mostly a mess, not stocked. The messiness was throughout the store. It's hard to place value on low quality. Most everything seemed destined for the trash in short time.
