Time for an update. Quality/Quantity - One of our favorite Targets. One of the best run Targets. Clean, organized, and has most (if not all) of the departments, etc. Atmosphere - Again, one of the cleanest and most organized Target locations. Plenty of all parking. Open 7 days a week from 7am to 10pm. Open 1 hour earlier than my original review. I guess business continues to increase. Service - Self service, but good when I need service and actually ask. The customer service needs to be improved. I pressed the need help button multiple times and waited for 20 minutes just for no one to come. I went and found a worker and she told me she would tell someone named Ivan to go over. I watched and listen to her tell him over the walkie that guests were needing assistance by the legos. I went back, expecting to be helped just to find no one. I didn't expect for this Ivan to get there right away, so I just waited for a few minutes, and then I clicked the need help button multiple more times. Overall I'm more than certain I waited over 40 minutes and still left unsatisfied. If things are going to be locked up, at least make sure your workers are staying alert. Only selecting one star for this experience because it won't let me leave it at zero. read more

This is specifically for the Starbucks at this location, it seems like this location leaves much to be desired, so my review won't be a surprise. It was basically that 3 baristas at the location, all doing things that didn't involve taking orders. We were in line and had to ask anyone was working the counter, because whatever they were doing obviously was more important. The fact that we had to get vocal and ask if anyone was working the counter was ridiculous. There were only two of us in line and they were too busy to take our order!!! Really? Do better! read more

Very poor customer service. Multiple customers rang for assistance and waited with no response. An employee was standing nearby on her phone while on duty and did not proactively help anyone. We eventually approached her directly and asked for help. She immediately said the item was "out of stock" without checking inventory or attempting to assist. The Lego set we were asking about was clearly visible, locked inside the shelf. This was frustrating and felt dismissive. If items are locked and customers need assistance, employees should be willing to help and at least verify availability instead of brushing people off. I found that I've been coming here for last minute grocery runs since having a baby and man, I'd rather go anywhere else. Having to wait 5-10 minutes to get a can of formula from their locked shelf is incredibly annoying. I wish it were a once or twice kind of annoyance but I found myself having to wait every single time. Online ordering is so much better. This store amazes me every time I come here. I have twins and today one wandered off while with dad. We couldn't find her for a few minutes. I told a worker and they were on it. Alameda Target so very clean and excellent employees. I walked in I'm greeted by security. I look around so very clean and smelled fresh. Everything on my list was there. While walking down an aisle at Target, I was warmly greeted by Kyle with a huge smile. He asked how we were doing, whether we had found everything we needed, and if there was anything he could help us with. He even wished us happy holidays. As I continued shopping, I noticed Kyle greeting every customer he crossed paths with in the same friendly and genuine way. I was so impressed by his exceptional customer service, professionalism, welcoming smile, and positive attitude that I actually went back to find out his name just so I could write this review. Kyle truly stands out--he made me feel valued as a customer, and it's rare to encounter someone who consistently goes above and beyond like he does. This Target carries groceries, fast food (pizza, pretzels) Starbucks coffee, clothing, electronics, home goods & a CVS pharmacy. Since Target is the only major retailer on the island of Alameda, their grocery prices are highly inflated. A side by side comparison of Target groceries prices & monthly delivery fees (eggs, dairy, produce & canned foods are over-priced by at least $2.00 more or higher in a side by side price comparision with Walmart. Walmart's lower food prices & waived FREE delivery fees, reflect major savings with Walmart's free delivery & lower food prices. Walmart also beats the Alameda Lucky grocery store which has super inflated meat & produce prices. Another negative lately is: Target's parking lot trash cans are overflowing with unemptied trash for weeks now that is spilling into the surrounding streets, sidewalks & parking lots. This experience honestly broke us at a time when we're already stressed and preparing for our baby's arrival. We came to Target simply trying to return a damaged dresser that was purchased from our baby registry. One of the main panels arrived broken, and we just wanted to exchange it or at least get store credit so we could replace it. That's it. Instead, we were pushed through an exhausting, embarrassing, and honestly humiliating process that left us feeling completely defeated. We dealt with six different associates over two days, and not ONE person seemed to know how to help us. No one even tried to understand the situation..we were treated like an inconvenience every step of the way. On 11/20, we went in during the evening. Multiple employees shrugged us off, looked confused, or just pointed us elsewhere. The third associate was the only one who somewhat helped, and he told us we needed the receipt from the person who bought the dresser from our registry. As expecting parents, it's already humbling and emotional preparing for a baby but having to reach out to someone who gave us a gift and ask them for their personal purchase receipt was incredibly embarrassing. But we did it because we didn't have a choice. We returned the next day with the receipt, hopeful. Instead, we got passed around again. Employee after employee acted like they'd never seen a registry return before. They told us the item number on the receipt "wasn't correct," even though it was literally the one Target provided through our registry. My wife kept calmly explaining this, but they wouldn't listen. Eventually they told us WE needed to call corporate to get the "right" item number. Mind you--we told them repeatedly the dresser was no longer available on Target's website. They still dismissed us and clearly just wanted us to leave. We finally pushed back and asked why THEY couldn't call corporate. After avoiding it, they finally made the call... and corporate confirmed the item number we had from the beginning was correct. The employees suddenly had nothing to say. They blamed the system, saying it wouldn't pull up because it's no longer sold. Exactly what we told them from the moment we walked in. After HOURS of this over two days, all we wanted was store credit so we could replace a dresser that arrived damaged. Instead, they told us it was "past the return window" and there was nothing they could do. They ended the whole nightmare by telling us to "contact the manufacturer." We walked out feeling upset, stressed, and honestly completely let down. As expecting parents dealing with damaged baby furniture and trying to do things the right way, this was the last thing we needed. If you're thinking about creating a Target baby registry, please be aware: You might end up dealing with employees who don't understand the system, don't want to help, and leave you feeling helpless when something arrives damaged. This was supposed to be an exciting time for us--and Target made it incredibly stressful and disappointing. read more

Now, Target is not as inexpensive as it used to be, but you can find some good quality things here. This place is very clean and organized. I've been here multiple times for various things, the parking lot is plenty big enough also! I had gone here this morning to do a Cat & Jack return but was denied, the team member had stated the clothes had to be defected in order to do the return. I had just did a return a few days prior with no trouble. The Cat & Jack return policy has not changed either as I did do research. I will be coming back and will ask to speak supervisor. My 2-year old is constantly outgrowing her clothes and this program helps me to provide clothes for her when I see fit. read more

Today March 17 2026 at 4:30pm I witnessed a target employee walk into the women's bathroom behind me. Use the bathroom and walk right out the door without washing her hands. She was a Hispanic woman seemed to be in her 50s. Grey ponytail with a walktakie on her side. I said to her as she walked out the door "Your not going to wash your hands?" She ignored me and kept walking and went to the women's section. Yuck! Imagine she is touching all of the fixtures, hangers, carts, etc... This store has an inventory issue. Consistently you will find d that the meat and fresh produce and salads all have expired expiration dates. This is not a one off it is a continual problem at this store. The fresh foods are expired every time I have been in store. I don't know why management cannot stay on top of inventory and have fresh food that is not expired on the shelves. Also a problem in dairy. I won't shop here anymore. This has been going g on for at least a year. This store is a disgrace. I tried to call the store manager but no one ever answered the phone. Living in the Bay Area, I think I prefer this Target over any anywhere else. For the most part, it's organized, and I'm able to find more employees if I need help. I like the selection, and they categorize all their items. I also feel like that I can find what I want. An employee in the toy section was really rude when I asked her if they had a toy I was looking for since on the app it said in stock so I asked another employee and she proceeded to yell at the other employee I was asking and let him know to hurry up because they had to go and she had already let me know there wasn't anymore. I went to customer service and the kind lady let me know they had 7 but to just come back and keep checking until some one decided to bring out that specific toy onto the floor. I stopped by after dinner to buy dish soap but ended up getting sidetracked by their home accessories. My review is specifically for one of the young men working there, Matthew, who was incredibly helpful, cheerful, and polite. He assisted me in finding an extra pillow when the one on display was damaged. Matthew went back a couple of times because the first replacement pillow he found wasn't as plush and soft as the one I had. He seemed happy to keep looking until he found the right one. This is my favorite target! Although I live in Oakland I always come to alameda to this particular target! Always well stocked and I love the store layout. It's has really good flow where some targets the flow is just off! I love that the clothes are right at the entrance and you work your way around until you get to food with all the goodness of target right in the middle! I love how the food/grocery area is completely on the opposite side of the store making it feel like you get a true grocery experience. It's truly a one stop shop at this target! I come here at least once a week and I've never had any issues. Great staff! Always making sure the lines don't get too long and they keep the crowd moving. I placed an order for pick up for 3 items. Picked up the order the next day after 5 pm. There was only cashier an old lady. A few workers passed by and did not even care to help her. 10 mins later one worker came and she was taking her sweet time to help. This girl had an attitude you can just see it from her face. The old lady left so back to one. Now the line is really long and I see more worker passed by and did not care about the line. I was frustrated because it was taking so long so I ask if she can call for back up. She responded "wait there's not that many workers" mind you I saw like 5 workers passed by just looking at the line as they passed through. This is why I don't like coming here especially to pick up orders. The guy finally came to help scanned my QR and my order was NOT ready. Poor service. Why send me a notification saying my order is ready. Waited in line almost 30 mins. The least you can do is apologize for the wait or acknowledge your customers. Call for back up when there's 3 or more customers waiting. It's ridiculous that we have to wait that long and our order isn't ready. Do better target! read more

Target always seems to have a lot of shoppers during the holidays. Even during a pandemic, there's no exception. Still a madhouse. I had ordered a few things online Friday evening and selected this location to pick up in the store over the weekend. There were no lines to enter into Target. People were entering and exiting freely (like pre-pandemic), which kind of worried me since it looked like the store was overcapacity. Saw two customers already waiting in line for the Order Pickup counter, so I stood behind them (6 feet away). Two employees were not attending to any customers at the time but kept looking at the line and didn't acknowledge the first person waiting. After about 15 minutes, we (the two customers and I) asked each other how long they've waited and why it was taking so long, it was then the two employees overheard us and said there was only one line (pointing at the Returns line). Frustrating that they never once said anything when they saw the line forming. The line was super long. Thankfully another employee was checking who was there to pick up their order. I had probably waited another 10 minutes to get my order and was out. Beware of the holiday rush if you must come! read more

This is my go to Target since it's not far from where I live. After experiencing the Emeryville Target, I was extremely excited when this Target opened in Alameda. It also helps that there's plenty of parking and other shops to go to as well. Before the coronavirus, I would say the store was always very well stocked. I haven't been back since we were asked to shelter in place, but I know they're probably trying their best to still have things that people need. Be aware that a notice went out that Target stores are stopping their in-store returns and exchanges for 3 weeks. I can't wait for the coronavirus to be over so I can go back. It's definitely my store for many things that I'd rather buy in person than online! read more

This Target has NOTHING! Poorly stocked. I know we're in the middle of COVID-19 and all but if you know folks are continually gracing you're store, order enough merchandise. As for the checkout system, the line had a daunting appearance that it was over-the-top long, but it actually moved fairly quickly. If you need basics, e.g., soap, shampoo, etc, this Target is okay, but if you need extras like, pj's, clothes, etc., the selection appears very poor right now.
