I've finally figured out why the lines are always so long. The employees allow customers to cut the line. While waiting in line a group of customers were allowed to cut ahead of everyone because one member of their party was already at the register. They joined them skipping the line entirely. They did 5 separate transaction. This felt unfair to those patiently waiting. This store should enforce the line system consistently to ensure all customers are treated equally. letting multiple people skip is unfair and disrupts the flow of the line. Store employees say there's nothing they can really do. shows a lack of respect for customers who wait patiently. read more

Giving five stars because my personal experience was five stars. I would like to point out to management at this store that one of the front end cashiers is pretty rude to her coworkers. My cashier was Dwayne and he was humorous, and we joked a lot about all the great Christmas outfits they have and how expensive things can be online. When Zella (spelling) a cashier all in black was pretty offensive to another cashier next to us named Lachelle. She was very professional to this other person and then swung to Dwayne with pleading eyes. He comforted her, and I said that I understood. There's just no reason to browbeat your coworkers. Anyhow, what I can't say is this store is well stocked great selection of Dutch ovens, Christmas outfits for both women and men. This year they have a super selection of slippers There was no one at the jewelry counter, but it didn't take long for the folks in the fitting rooms to find someone and she was a darling girl with a scarf on her head, but she was so nice. I was shopping for nieces and she must've opened eight different cabinets for me. I was able to purchase three pieces of jewelry And grateful that she had no issue with how many pieces I wanted to see. I'm not sure why the store gets a three star review because it's clean and well stocked aside from the one employee being rude and mean to her coworkers I'll be back. I'm just across the bridge. If I were to make a suggestion, it would be for more sheets and bedding. They don't have a very big department in that but everything else is very well stocked. read more

Okay, still NOT a TJ Maxx shopper, but my wife is becoming one of their best customers... So this rating is more for her. She gave them a 4 star rating, and I rated this location 3 stars. Quality/Quantity - Brand names... Well less and less of the brands that I shop. I guess not enough men shop at this location; they just cut the men's department in half, so they have even less selections now. I already do not shop here, now won't even waste my time looking while my wife shops. Atmosphere - Unique and one of a kind items. Discount department stores. My wife spends hours here as often as she can. Clean bathrooms, recently remodeled. Open 7 days a week from 9:30am or 10am to 8pm or 9:30pm. See picture or Yelp for specific hours each day. Horrible experience, I never thought something like this was going to happen. So basically My mom went into the fitting room and the lady that was there was organizing another area meanwhile managing the fitting room ( no problem I don' t mind waiting ) then the worker gave my mom a pair of instructions like putting the clothes on a rack so she could count them. Just when my mom was about to do what they TOLD her to do the lady pushed her back just to put a hat or something in a bench near us. Like couldn't she have waited for my mom to pass or at least tell her to wait. Worst part she treated my mom like if she was stupid, my mom isn't fluent in english and there isn't anything wrong with that. My mom did understand the instructions. And what is even worse is that the lady treated everyone else the same but my mom. That is just embarrassing and disappointing. And before everyone starts jumping in conclusions in 10 minutes only like 2 people the fitting room. When we went to do an incident report the lady was there and she didn't even let us finish taking every time we would try to speak she would try to convince the manager that she didn't do it, she would say things like "You know I wouldn't do this" or " I been working for many years here and I never done anything wrong" or even "I am super nice I would never do anything like that" (Like having a nice reputation doesn't justify what you did, just acknowledge your mistake learn from it and take responsibility for your actions. Even worst the manager sided with her because she "would never do that" and "it was a misunderstanding" . Horrible experience I understand that maybe this has never happened but what made me mad is how they treated people different just cause of their race. I purchased a gift box with the TJ Max tag/sticker on the bottom of the box showing $3.99. That is what I expected to pay. When I got home and looked at my receipt, I saw I was charged $4.00. Okay - I know, it is only one cent but... So, upon further inspection, when I opened the Papyrus tag attached to the bow on top of the box there were other TJ Max stickers. One shows $4.99 (compare at) and a red clearance tag with a $4.00 price! Wow, I am being charged one cent more than the cost on clearance!?!?! It's July 3rd, the checkout line is snaking through the store and there are only the open counters. And the manager seems unconcerned.

Absolutely terrible experience. Simply wanted to buy a purse and the staff made it a very uncomfortable experience. One person kept following my family and I around the whole time and the cashier overly inspected the items we bought, opening them, inspecting every pocket. And maybe that's normal for them but I've never experienced anything like that before. Will not be returning and I recommend that you just save your money or shop somewhere else. read more

I personally really like this TJ Maxx! I do however wish it had a home goods store attached to it like most of them do but it has a lot of good variety for home decor! What I really like about this particular store is the section where they have foods and kitchen utensils. I love all the unique finds! Last time I came here I found this amazing white caramel chocolate coffee and boy is it delicious! I also like the different seasonings they have in this section! They also have kitchen utensils in all colors and variety! In the soap clearance section they have so many good soaps around $6.99 and normally they would be so expensive. I got my glass soap dispenser for my bathroom for only $4.99! I love it and it's refillable for new soaps! The staff is friendly and the store is organized. What's going on at this TJ Maxx? I've been shopping here since they opened years ago and never had any issues. As of my last two visits which were returns I was treated like a criminal. I always pay with my debit card using my PIN number. The first time I asked for the cash back and the girl behind the counter gave me a look as if I was about to rob the place. " How did you pay?" She asked me. With my debit card I tell her. She then asked to look at the receipt again then with an attitude gave me MY money back. Second visit was this morning to make another return. I'm a woman and I impulse shop and I'd rather try stuff on at home and return later if I don't like it. So I make a turn this morning once again asking for MY cash back. The cashier, who was a different lady, says that she doesn't know how I paid. It paid with my debit card. Can I look at your receipt? OMG! I let her look at the receipt and once again with an attitude gave me MY money back. TJ Maxx, this is really not necessary. I understand people do really bad things and try to get over on companies but that's not my problem when I provide all proof you need to give me back what is rightly mine. I'll keep shopping here but I don't appreciate how you are handling the returns, especially right after the holidays. read more

Our TJ Maxx here in the island is usually well stocked with new inventory in all sections and I always come across great finds, especially compared to some other Bay Area locations. I'd say I come here at least 2x/month. There are some areas can be quite disorganized, especially wherever they have clearance shelves. And it's always pretty busy here. Check out lines can go by rather slowly, but the staff are always friendly and I've never had any issues with their customer service. read more

My sister took my wife to this TJ Maxx in Alameda. My wife had never been to a TJ Maxx store in years!! Now because of this visit, she is a fan. They went here in the morning. My wife brought me back with her to the store in the afternoon. That's right folks....she wasn't finished shopping. Actually, the reason she returned with me in the afternoon is because she had to return a blouse that was too large. We were standing in line for about 15 minutes at the Return Line. Guess, what? It was not the return line after all. We were about to step up to the register when we were told that we were not waiting where we were supposed to be. I was so pissed off!! The staff associate who was standing at a table behind us could have told us we were wasting our time standing there. So Minus One Star because of that!! Besides that hiccup, everything else about this TJ Maxx was a nice experience. We were browsing and shopping after the return. Wifey bought a couple more items at great prices! They carry so much stuff! Everything is clean and well organized as well. So different than the competition. I'm talking about you Ross Dress For Less. This specific location carries a wider selection of brand names than our home based TJ Maxx stores. This TJ Maxx had a great selection of women clothes, purses, beauty, care, and home decor. I was able to find everything that I needed in this location. The line to check out in the front of the store was very crowded but discovered they had another checkout line near the back the entrance. They have some nice items. We did a little Christmas shopping. I bought a few gadgets that ultimately weren't worth keeping so I returned them. This area is usually safe. I was greeted by someone at the door and a floor sales rep asked me if I needed any assistance - two hallmarks of quality customer service. The check out line wasn't too bad and neither was parking. I love how all TJ Maxx stores are different. I've had the best luck at this location with finding cute designer purses and shoes as well as decent workout clothes. It's a lot bigger than most stores from what I've noticed, and the staff always seem pleasant for the most part. Sometimes they be kind of standoffish but that's typical of any store. My favorite thing about this store is that they have a plethora of cute purses -- I think it's the best attribute this store has. Their makeup selection (when not opened and swatched by random people) features brands like too faced, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Stila and more. Sometimes they can be a little gross, so it's advisable to check that the makeup is still sealed. Parking is decent, but the lot gets so full around 4! Other than that, great location and lots of options of drinks and food nearby. read more

This TJ Maxx is one of my spots! Whether it's Christmas time, in the winter, spring, summer, or fall, I always find what I have in mind. From decorating, to smelling nice, grabbing a luggage for travel or a quick browse for gp, this TJMaxx is everything! The staff is friendly and helpful, it's always clean, and they have an array of all sorts of things. My only food for thought is more genuine leather higher-end purses. Other than that, it's great! The clothing is often unique and they often have sizes that I need. Not only is this a great place to shop, it's location is stellar. It's right next door to a Starbucks, Khol's, Old Navy, Ross, and a host of other stores that add to the shopping experience of a retail therapy funday. TJ Maxx is a hit or miss. You have to get lucky to find something really good that you need. You have to check randomly to see what they have. For me it's long sleeve workout shirts for this cold weather. Best time to come in is when the doors first open. If you come in during busy hours the lines are long and slow. They also got rid of the shopping carts. They excuse one of the employees gave me was that people take the carts or leave them scattered around the lot which is why they don't have them anymore. I think that they put the carts in the back so they don't have to disinfect them after every use throughout the day. read more

I received a T J Maxx $25 gift card from a former colleague of mine after I had retired from the work force. I have never shopped at any T J Maxx before, but I know they have bargain prices on their merchandise. They have clothes (mostly for women), shoes, household items, linens, candles, some edible items (sauces, candies, snacks), purses, etc. Wow, I come into this store and there aisles are clean. I did not see any clothing merchandise on the floor and/or shoes strew across the floor for people to trip over. When I do see merchandise on the floor, and even though I don't work at the store, I still pick the items up off the floor and place them in their appropriate places - dresses back on the hangers and shoes back on the shoe rack. I was in there, looking for washcloths because the ones I have are somewhat worn from years of usage. I liked the fru-fru colors (pastels), but husband told me over the cell phone - nope. Okay, I understood and selected a set of 8 washcloths in gray, blue, cream and white. Cost: $4.99 Another bargain: Fifth Avenue Crystal, Portico - Set of 4 coasters, Regular Price at $20.00, marked down to $4.99. I almost lost my purple canvas bag (from Longs Drugs in Maui) at the store. Thank goodness, nobody picked it up from the floor when I was in the household section. I thought I would go here, 1. For Home Goods, and 2. For Toddler Shoes. MY GOODNESS! The shelves and racks seemed a bit bare! I'm not sure if it's usually like that on a Monday at 1:30pm. But, I did see a few associates stocking in the kids clothing, Women's Shoes, and Bath/Bedding sections. May be the shipment arrived late??? Regardless... The toy section was in such a disarray. It was like a Black Friday Sale just had ended and the poor beaten leftovers were left in the wake. Pieces were missing. Boxes were broken. It was very sad to try to look through. There was not really a kids shoe section. This was mainly the purpose of the whole trip... well that and velvet hangers and some organizing baskets... Anyways, I found a few infant/toddler shoes in the racks where the socks and underwear were. But nothing for everyday use. They were more of special occasion shoes and flip flops :( I bypassed looking at clothes and went for the home goods BECAUSE I was drawn to a massive display on TWO tables of RAE DUNN! What???? If you collect her ceramics, you know what I'm talking about! I've never seen so many in one spot before. I almost bought one of everything. But then decided to build my collection in moderation... spending nearly 40 minutes trying to pick only a few pieces to get my collection started. The 3 stars are solely because of my excitement of the glorious amounts of Rae Dunn! I purchased this lovely semi distressed Italian leather purse at the TJ Maxx in Alameda. Once I got it home and put all of my things in it I discovered it's way too heavy for my bad back. I came to return it at the store and was told it could not be returned in the condition that it's in. The purse has never been used and has been in the bag from the time I purchased it to the time I'm trying to return it. I have the receipt and I've called the corporate office but the store is digging their heels in and refuses to return it. Corporate is sending a message to the district office to call me and/or the store but what a horrible waste of my time and how insulting to be accused of using the purse and trying to return it! While writing this post, I just got a call from the district manager who said she's going to call the store and tell them to return the purse for me. We'll see how that goes. I'm really sorry that they've treated me like this and that I'm going to have to rethink shopping at one of my favorite stores. read more
