I ran into DDs to grab a mini suitcase as I will be returning to work and cannot carry too much weight. I found this cute unicorn design suitcase. It cost a little more than I expected but worth it. Today, the store wasn't busy so I was in and out within 10 minutes. The cashier was helpful. The suitcase was security locked and I requested it be opened to see if it was suitable for me. Great customer service. However, theft has been on the rise at this location. Now you have to enter and stand in front of a TV with loss prevention until they give you the go ahead to pass the entrance. read more

My husband and I constantly come here to browse after eating at Hawaiian Poke Bowl or before grocery shopping at the Pak N' Save next door - I felt weirdly passionate after our recent experience there that I had to write a review LOL. I feel like places like this get trashed on because the quality of things might be "low," but like honestly what do you think DD's is for...it's DD's discounts... best things to get here: kitchen/bath things, SHOES, handbags/backpacks, and SCRUB TOPS!! I work at a hospital and scrub brands like FIGS are soooo expensive, and I constantly get my scrub tops dirty at work when I work with patients. The scrub tops here are $6-12, SO WORTH IT and they're super comfy too. Constant rotation of scrub tops during holiday season, I think it gets updated like every month because every time we go it's a little different. Other pros: - Easy parking - Pretty much anything goes here...I've seen dogs, open coffee, etc. - Fitting rooms are open now - Good and constantly changing men's/women's shoe selection - Our ultimate favorite loss prevention security guard RIZZY - he has red dreads and is literally so friendly, every time we go in he has his classic "WELCOME TO DD'S!" This may be a total coincident but the one time he wasn't on shift and we shopped there, I had card fraud happen after (and I kind of remember exactly the moment I think it happened, these dudes were standing really close over our shoulder as I was typing in the keypad) - but that stuff doesn't happen when RIZZY is there. Mask is required and they do provide hand sanitizer and they keep count on how many customers are inside. Not very well stocked but I know that's due to Covid. Where else can you find t-shirts for $4 and other tops for $9? Some are real bargains since I've seen some brands sold in Macy's and other stores. However, beware that most of the merchandise are just plain crap. Imagine ROSS but 5x crappier. Today, the big bald Caucasian security guy came after us, right when we got inside, to inform us that we need to leave behind our shoulder bags with him. "You need to leave your bags with me. You can take your wallets tho." This was the first time we've had this kind of treatment by any staff members (of any store), being accosted like that. Plus, we didn't see anyone else who had to surrender their possession. The security guy thought we were going to hand over our bags as we walked right past him and left the premises. It felt really good to make a point. Sorry, you lost customers when you're become over-zealous like that. We don't need to shop there anymore. read more

DD's is Ross' little sister. Cheaper clothing than a Ross, Marshalls, TJ Maxx. Some things are cute, others are a tad cheap-looking. They have an assortment of men's, women's, and kid's clothing here as well as shoes, housewares, and knick knacks. I was impressed by the artwork here as well as some of the housewares such as towels, laundry hampers, hangers, and other miscellaneous items. The workers here at this location are generally friendly - the security guard in the front with glasses always has a kind word to share. They let us keep our frap's with us while we shopped, unlike Ross who makes you either finish your drink or leave it up front (ugh!). My mom loves DD's Discounts so if i'm with her, I know we are headed here. read more

It's Ross, but cheaper! I bought some household items here and love the deals! $7 table cloth and found another one on clearance for $4. I also got me a chair pillow for my work chair, for only 4 dalla! Good deals. No need to spend a ton on house stuff. We're gonna ruff it up anyway. Ok seriously this place is the lowest of the low. The trashiest of the trash. If you could combine that smell of driving in Oakland on 880 near the waste processing plant with the sludgey disgustingness of the beginning of the Dumbarton Bridge, that wouldn't compare to the garbage that this place unearths when it comes to the customer service. Never mind that this place has the cleanliness similar to if a dollar tree store strewn its boxes throughout its aisles with no indication that anyone cared about it. Never mind that the selection of clothes and home goods is minimal. (The place does earn one star for having affordable prices for the refuse that they carry.) I stopped in with my partner to return some clothes. The person at the counter told us "oh you can't return this, you have to keep it, because THE HANGER BROKE." We informed them politely that "it was the person who checked out the clothing that broke the hanger as they put it in there." Then the manager came and said "you can't return this because the tag that says "DD's" isn't there." We said, wut the hell, the price tag is there. We all know the original price tag is the one that matters, right? It has the SKU and brand name on it and everything! But it's not good enough - Not for this particular manager at the point in time that we went. We said - "what about if we exchanged it for a large, removed the tag from the exchange, and then returned the exchange?" Originally they said it would be okay, but then they changed their mind and said no. Talk about going against what they just said. There are some strange machinations at work here. Well, this might be the epic adventure that we're looking for! To go home into our trash can out in front sometime before garbage day and dig through it just to find the tag that says "DD's" on it, even though we had the receipt and the receipt and the tag had the price on it. I came to the realization that we could go to the Oakland or Hayward store and probably return it there. Or maybe if I ever had to go to dd's again I'd go to those stores. But maybe I'd go somewhere else where they train their staff to give two rats' bottoms about customer service. Worst staff ever! read more

I first found this discount clothing chain in Sacramento, this one is the the only one I found in the Bay Area. Heard there is one in Hayward, but haven't found it. DD's is owned by Ross Dress for Less, when you walk in, you feel it with how the racks are set up with their sizes and styles but the prices are much less. Women's tops are $4-15. Styles are more casual. From the marketing RDfL is marketing to the customer with incomes of $30K+. The place is even messier then Ross but the prices are great. If you don't mind looking through mis sized racks, some racks empty and clothes on the floor, then this is a great store for you. Great parking with its own lot, busy on the weekends. read more

I found a curling iron here for $6.00. They have tons of seat covers ... we should have come here instead of scouring the flea market (unsuccessfully). Also you can probably find a lot of "made for TV" stuff here for cheap. Bargains make me happy. So dd's always hooks me up. I found Barbie dolls, Barbie clothes, an outfit for my daughter's doggie, and a few more Christmas gifts for dirt-cheap prices. As with its sister store, Ross, they carry name brands for less so well worth checking out their organization section, their fitness section, and the toy department. One of my favorite places to shop! The prices are really low, it's similar to a Ross with half the cost. I've introduced it to many of my friends and family and now we have this saying, "I got it at Dd's!" We also just shout Dd's anytime someone says they need something . They have a wide selection of housewares, clothes, lingerie, and suitcases! The store is constantly getting new merchandise. I live across the street and I frequently just go to browse. The staff every time I go welcomes me in. The check out line can go pretty slow but never been terrible. They have a separate check-out line for people making returns but often times they only have 2 people ringing. Great store with potential, however for a first time visitor I was disappointed! Women clothing in a complete disarray, kids and adults clothing all mixed, in women tops I had found more girls top and adult women. No separations kids adults all mixed. No sales person on the floor to help you with a question or anything else you might need. Lots of disorganized shelves, can't find (some of things) correct price for items. Finally when I purchased couple of items after visiting at the store for about 1:50min the line was long and kids running and playing with a ball and shouting, like as if they are in the park!!!! Assured, no one asked them to calm down. 2 cashiers at register taking their sweet time no in a hurry. Its an interesting place to shop. Its like a Ross but its a lot cheaper. Tons of clothes some in fashion some not . There are deals to be be had. If your patient and have time to look thru the racks of clothes. Best to shop during the week as on the weekends the bargain hunters are out. This place is aaaaallright, its like a broken down Marshall's. I went here with my best friend to help her look for kitchen accessories, she found a few good deals and some too good to be true and ill explain why. We found a couple of good things, but when you look closely at it the item is either damaged or the box has been opened already with a few things missing. For example, found a nice knife set for her yet where the heck were the knives? Found another set but out of the 15 knives advertised on the box, only 3 were in there and one of them was just out of place. Where does a girl who yelps and loves to eat and does'nt workout go to get shirts to cover up her big ass and stomach? T: DD's of course! You gotta take your time and go through all them stupid ANGEL shirts or all them other shirts that have quotes that say what my teenager wears, but you find a few to get you by until the next time you get tired of looking like a lint magnet from washing that cute shirt too many dammmm times. However, the store is messy so don't expect any real department store employees or service. You can drop off BayBay's kids there in the morning and pick them up later on cause they will just blend in with all the other chicks with 6 kids and 8 different baby daddy's who are running around there through the racks. I always stop by at DD's whenever I go to the gym next door. This place has tons of stuff and all at pretty cheap prices. The prices are cheap b/c some of the clothing styles are definitely out of date and are very low end brands that no one has ever heard of. However this place does carry some familiar brands like Self esteem (for juniors) and F.u.bu. (for guys). I also like shopping here for things for my place. Things like a hair curling iron, towels, picture frames, and kitchen ware are very cheap. My only complaint about DD's are the ridiculous lines. Unfortunately in order to buy cheap deals you must wait in line a very long time. Usually going on the weekday mornings are not too bad but weekands? forget it. read more

I have to say the home decor is my favorite... the prices are REALLY great for home decor, kitchen items and bedroom essentials... it's really a place where you have to dig to find the good stuff... This store has a manager named irma's. Who does nothing. So customer service is so unreal at this store I watched 1 black young man work on the lone , as the line grew the manager and another cashier, watch the line grow from 4 to 15 ppl, not 1 tried to help the black young man get the line down they were doing stupid stuff that could have waited until the line was down , I said something to the 2 ladies, and then irma's the mgr then said next customer, where is the customer service so I starting filming and the mgr walked off. OMG, why did I come back? Not only was the cashier slow as molasses, but then the ancient receipt printer decided to break down! I had to wait nearly 20 minutes while they fussed with the machine! Then I ended up having to have my receipt printed in their back office and brought back to me. That coupled with long lines and waiting equaled attitudes! You would think since Ross operates this place that the equipment would be up to date. Highlight: Cheap!! I have been to this DD's Discount a number of times over the past few years. You can always find cheap things there. Sometimes, if you're lucky, you can find brand name clothing such as And1 and Ecko for very cheap. A pair of jeans can only cost $10 and a nice jacket for only $9. They sell all kinds of household items as well. Great place for some cheap items and if you're an avid shopper. For some reason, the shoppers were very nice today and actually influenced me to use the two words "excuse me." Two things that are not good is the messiness of the place and how slow the line was (from what I experienced). I was 4th in line and waited a good 20 minutes, and everyone had ~3 items max. Always crowded & messy -- it like distant a Ross cousin. DD'S is great, good prices, name brands and lots of selection. I've been shopping here since it opened and the chain came to the Bay. The store is always in disarray -- you need a lot of time if you are going to go shopping at any DD's. There is no in and out when it comes to going here. It has everything for men, women and children, in addition, there even a home area. Today, I witnessed an unnecessary verbal altercation between a female employee and a customer trying to shop. The employee was insistent on pushing her merchandise chart down the isle he was shopping on. She was loud and belligerent as she was trying to bogart her way through even though he was in the isle first. She was very offensive, to the point of calling him a "queer". As this is normally the store I shop at, when I feel like going to DD's, I will not likely shop there after seeing this type of lack of professionalism from someone who is supposed to be polite to customers in oppose to being totally rude. This place is really affordable and has a lot of variety the reason for my two stars is because one of the employees there was extremely rude!! Her name was Rochelle and the day of my visit she was stocking isles, she was almost running us over with her go back car and literally going on top of us placing things on the shelves while we were looking for what we needed! Once she was done she literally said "MOVE EITHER BACKWARDS OR FORWARDS BUT MOVE I NEED TO GO!" Which I found extremely rude! Customer service was BAD. I used to come here San Leandro DDs because everything is cheaper than other stores. But we had something happened that I do not wanted to happen. One employer who standing front of fitting room was not nice at all during 1pm on July, 9th. We asked her that we can use the restroom with my mother. She did not looking at us and saying that "NO, RESTROOM IS ONLY for little child, old people and pregnant women. You have to go to the next door PAK N SAVE(which is another store)" I felt so bad when she said that. What about disabled peoples?
