I just started shopping at Talbots about 2 years ago. I never gave it a thought as I always thought it was for older women and knew my grandma used to shop there. Well I guess I am NOW that older woman. Any how I was suprised to that they have great quality career and classic casual clothes. Yes they have some stuff that is not my style but what brand or store doesn't . I love this outlet because it is a REAL outlet that has real bargains. Yes you have to hunt but isn't that what an outlet is about?? If I want organization then head to the mall. Some of my finds are a wool blend blazer for $40, a tweed "Jackie O" jacket for $9, a skinny leather belt for $6. I didn't realize this is the ONLY Talbots outlet in all of California. Consider yourself lucky if you live close by... if the location is not close to you (which is not for me-just happen to be in the area for my son's sporting event) don't forget to check the Talbots outlet section online. I just ordered a pair of platform espradrilles for $13. Regular priced $140, their shoes are top quaility. read more

Whaaattt..Talbots has an outlet?? I usually don't shop at Talbots because it is expensive, but it happens to be my mommy's FAVORITE STORE EVER. So, I frequent this place around the holidays and all other mommy-related special occassions. You can find some pretty decent deals here! I can usually find some good stuff here, but you have to go in with the assumption that it is an outlet and thus has outlet quality clothing. AKA, it is le suck quality. This Talbots used to be full of high-end goodness, but seems like recently it has declined a bit. The quality of the clothing during my last trip here has gone significantly down hill. I used to mosey on in..look at the outfits they have on display and walk out with the perfect gift for mom. NOW..the story is different. The clothes on the racks were WRINKLEY and made from cheap jersey...and it has all spring colors...which is no bueno considering it is WINTERRRR. Loads of cantalope/lime green summer dresses/tank tops to be found and all dated styles. Love the fact that they have petite sizes, but if you want to find the good stuff you have to DIG! Poke around all the shelves and pinch/crumple your way to the top quality, up-to-date, chic looks you want. Pretty much the only way to shop here.. At least there is a Nordstrom Rack right across the way if you can't find anything! read more

I buy lots from Talbots, the stores and the website. I shop at Talbots Fresno, Stanford, and SF for clothing and I shop the website for shoes because I can get wide sizes. Great thing about Talbots, no matter where you buy an item, you can return it to any store. So, why only 3 stars? Because I have seldom found anything that I absolutely love at the outlet. Sure, the prices are great, if you can find something you like and in your size. But, if I liked it, so did every other short, plump woman who goes into Talbots. I always know something is hot when the 16 petitie is gone from the store. The other day I was able to grab a skirt that had literally just come off the truck and onto the rack in the Stanford store. every other skirt I checked, 16 petitie was GONE. So, I doubt very much if I would find it at the outlet. It is a fun excursion, though, especially if you go on out to the marina for lunch. Did you know San Leandro has a very nice marina? I've been coming here for over a decade! When I was younger, mother dressed me from the children's department. Some of my favorite pants and dresses were from here. The details and the quality lived up to a child who was always outdoors. Unfortunately the children's department is now long gone. This Talbots Outlet always have sizes in stock (XS petites -XXXL). They're not the hideous polyester stuff either. But I have to say that you should not walk in here expecting a retail Talbots. You have to actually look for stuff that is trendy and modern. I'm not saying all their stuff is bad, but sometimes when I look at a piece/section, I wonder who in the right mind thought of this design with this material!?! If you can, pick up their t-shirts. They good staples.100% Pima Cotton (this is what Banana uses). AH! Love them! There is always, always a sale. Sometimes I even find some cute adult pieces for myself. Tailors/People who can sew more than just a button/Advance sewers - Once I bought beautiful, size 16 100% silk skirt to make myself something for $3! I have yet to tackle this project. But I'm just saying that there are A LOT of really inexpensive items in crazy large sizes that can be taken apart to something an average person can wear if you have the time and skills to do so. The shoes are a hit or miss and they're NOT made in China. Their majority of their belts are made from real leather and sometimes are ($1-8). Store covers the basics. The quality and selection (and sometime even prices) are better at their regular retail store, but once in a while there are good deals at outlet. One sales lady there, an older Asian woman, is incredibly aggressive and idiotic. Interacting with her is so painful; I just want to run out of the store the minute I see that she's there when I arrive. I wish the manage would tell her to shut up and stay out of the customer's way. read more

Thanks goodness for Talbots Outlet. There are lots of reasons to love this place, but I'll only offer my top three. One: UBER-GOOD PRICES for good quality items. Obviously there are other places that offer clothes on the cheap. But the fabric, construction, and styles warrant those low prices. When you like things that still look good years later, Talbots will never disappoint. Two: CLASSIC STYLES. OK, the clothes have been through the stores, marked down there, and then transported to the outlet. So they have already been preseason and in-season. But a 3/4 length sleeve nice quality cotton scoop neck t-shirt in white (blue, green, red, etc) is really never "out of style." So whether you get it in January or July you'll be still be wearing it 3 years from now. Three: CONVENIENT. It is located right off the freeway on the side of this plaza that is NOT jam packed. There is almost always parking right in front. They will even carry things out to the car for you! The staff is great in every way you can think of and new things come in every day. They have liberal credit terms and, since I have a card and shop there frequently, they give me early notice on "markdown" days, refund 5-10% of my purchases in the form of gift certificates, and send me EXTRA 20-30% discount cards for me and my friends. In short, they make it easy to want to go back. And I will. read more

Why the downgrade from 5 stars to 1? What was once a true clearance center for Talbot's stores has now become a Talbot's OUTLET. Which means lower quality inventory which you will never find at a Talbot's store. The clothing was unique and classic ( featured in the 1980 Preppy Handbook). They sold out to General Mills 1973 and after being acquired several times, went public in 1993 since then their clothing is no longer distinctive in fact it tends to be somewhat dowdy (classic does not have to be frumpy). It's important when looking at this store to realize, as others have said, that it's a true outlet. That means it carries merchandise from both the regular stores and from the chain of outlets. That means the quality can vary because the outlets carry merchandise made just for them. I've shopped this outlet for more than 20 years ands still make an hour's drive tp buy things here. I wear women's sizes and do not wear pants and I've found GREAT stuff. Yes the women's department isn't huge, but it's good. I find pieces that have been in the catalog often, not poorer quality stuff. Their prices are great, their staff is helpful, and their sales are amazing. I find the very best stuff here. Good enough that I make special trips to shop here. Don't believe the bad reviews here. If you like Talbots style, it's worth a special trip. read more

Talbots is the clothing store where young, sexy women, roll up in a cocoon, hibernate for 6 months and wake up middle aged women who wear flat-ass mom jeans and wistfully romanticize that they'll meet a handsome man to sweep them off their feet just like in their favorite harlequin romance novels. I cannot recommend the clothes here. Maybe it's because mother shops here, but even the name, Talbots. Tal-bots. Tall butts. Who wants to shop at tall butts? I looove tall butts! I am stuck here on the front bench while mother looks for the "latest fashions." I think she is secretly punishing me for being her insolent child. Boy, oh boy have I learned my lesson. Good god man, save yourselves, YOU'LL NEVER MAKE IT OUT ALIVEEE!!! So why 3 stars? Because the prices are low and Tall Butt radio is playing a cover of "Smooth Operator." This store is outstanding! Great prices, quality, presentation for an outlet. You can find fantastic deals and did you know that Talbots has a *lifetime* guarantee on merchandise? I've been shopping here for years. I go to the outlet and the *real* store in San Francisco (both Stonestown and Post Street). Maria at the outlet has put together some great outfits for me! Oh, and they are dog friendly too! I don't know what has happened but this is bottom of the barrel crap! Awful... Poor quality. No longer dog friendly also. Talbots is one of my favorite store at the Marina Shopping center. I love the classic work basics: button up petite tops, pants, skirts and knits. The have a cute collection of jewelry at the front register area. This is truly the only brand that I can confidently make purchases without even trying out clothes in the fitting rooms. I seriously walk in and make $$ purchases without trying on the clothes every time because I know Talbots clothes fits perfectly. I love the bold colors, patterns and basics that is truly universal for young women like myself. Classic fashion. The staff members are really nice and kind to guests. Great store! This brand is great for women who aren't interested in trying out "fast fashion" but rather quality classic designs that will remain in style for years to come. Some may say this is a brand for older women, but I don't think so because I've been shopping here since my 20's. In fact, I have recently celebrated my birthday and I am in my early 30's. Good stuff, but make sure you check condition. I've taken a few things home to notice a button needed to be sewn on or there was a small seam tear. Sales are final, so there's no taking it back for a refund. I have found $140 dresses for $20. I love that they carry petite, I'm 5'4" so I'm just between the two, and having the opportunity to buy petite allows me to get dresses and blazers, which run too long in the torso for me in average sizes. Petite sizes have saved me lots in tailoring bills. The clothes, if you pick well, have classic tailoring, and some have a vintage flair, which is great as I'm on a "Mad Men" kick these days. I always find work, play and party clothes here. I hate the parking, with Nordstrom Rack across the way, but enjoy shopping here much more than the Rack, which is always crowded and disorganized. Something about the quality of the clothes at this outlet store is simply not right! I have been a Talbots shopper for a long time - some 10 years at-least. The outfits that I bought back then at the Talbots stores in the Maryland/D.C area , still look timeless, and the quality speaks for itself. Fast-forward to shopping at this outlet store on occasion, and EVERY single piece that I purchased here fell apart in a few months, or a couple washes. The quality looked suspect to begin with, but given my prior experience with Talbots, I was having a hard time not trusting the quality. I therefore went ahead and purchased clothes on occasion. And every single piece had to be thrown away! For reference: The clothes that I purchased at H&M lasted longer than any that I purchased here. No kidding! Their "final purchase/no exchange policy" is not helpful either, and so I have decided to never shop at this store. I give it 2 stars only because of the classic, timeless styles they carry many times, else it is pretty much worth only 1 star at best. read more

After I lost everything in Alameda fire on 12/17/2011, I went to this outlet to see what I can find. I need everything, but it is certainly important for me to get few professional outfits at reasonable prices. The ladies who work there, including the manager, were EXTREMELY helpful. They searched for the sizes I needed until they found it. They offered whatever additional discounts they could and they were very encouraging. This is my first time going to any Talbots. I don't know why I had always thought of Talbots as being good quality brand that catered to waspy white ladies because let me tell you! I walked into this place and everything was under $35.99. I'm talking some gorgeous $180 shoes that were marked down to under $20, if only my feet were a size 6 or a size 11....uhh scratch that. I also saw some fabulous winter pieces but only for big girls/short big girls. Now don't get me wrong, my brand perception of Talbots didn't change because of their prices; most of their items were of poor quality and good luck finding something that fits you if you're under a size 13. read more

I really like Talbots' clothes and was super excited about coming here to get some new things to wear to work. I usually wear petite clothes and Talbots has a very nice line of them. Maybe I visited at a bad time, but I couldn't find a single thing. I was primarily looking for tops and pants, but there wasn't anything in my size or that looked good. I tried on dozens of tops and so on - nada. There just wasn't a great selection. The prices were fantastic though, so I will certainly come back and hopefully will find some great deals so I can update this to 5 stars! read more

I love this store! The associates who work here are friendly and helpful. They greet you when you come in, get additional sizes when you try stuff on, help with outfit planning, and tell you when a color just doesn't look right with your skin tone :) They handle holiday crowds well, alternating between cashing out, stocking, and fitting rooms with ease. The store is clean, organized, and well stocked. There are often good items on clearance and great sales around holidays. I don't do much shopping in person, but come here a few times a year. Note that the Talbots Outlet selection is more casual than the main Talbots line. They also carry clearance from the main Talbots line, though the selection is more sporadic. I'm a professional in my late 20s and can usually find items I like. read more

I wish I had the name of the woman who helped my mom and me because she was fantastic. Very helpful and friendly without being overbearing. The sales are amazing--we had two huge bags full of stuff for about $100. My mom found a skirt and sweater that were both 90% off (making them both under $4). Tons and tons of stuff was 75% off with a really good selection of clothing in all sizes. read more

Don't bother...shop the sales at the main store. Bought a cute dress there today that my sister tells me she got at 50% the cost of what I paid at a main store. I visited this store on Saturday, November 7th. It was not particularly busy. The place is very full of product. Oscar and Marilyn and one other gal (can't remember her name) were super nice. (Marilyn, you are a rock star in that dressing room.) The scarves were lovely; they were 50% of the $35 price, plus an additional 10%. Keep in mind that manufacturers create different product for outlets. That is, it is not the same stuff that you see in the retail store. At this location, they DID have a few racks of merchandise FROM THE RETAIL STORE! And Oscar said they lots of boxes sent over from retail but no room to the product out. They will put it on the floor as they find the room to do so. The jeans I purchased are fabulous! read more

I purchased a pair of pants at this location the other day not realizing that I could not exchange them if they didn't work out. BEWARE, they will not let you exchange anything it's their policy. Now I'm stuck with something that doesn't fit right, I will never go back to this store. The manager was not accomodating at all. read more

I normally don't shop at this store. In fact, I might have purchased clothes 2x in my life at Talbots, interview clothes. I"m not sure if this place has always had regular sizes. Somehow I think they used to supply only bigger women sizes. Anyhow, I've gone up a few sizes the past few years, and stepped into this store curious to see if there is anything I like. They happened to have a big mark down so I bought a few summer dresses off season. Great prices. Not sure if the mark downs would be a hit or miss. I shopped at Talbots Outlet yesterday on the way to another function. Many of my favorite clothes have come from Talbots. I have never shopped at the outlet before because it's about a 50 mile round trip mostly on 880 from my home. Today I was going through the bag of things I bought smiling about the savings on the items purchased. I got two tees for .90 each. And another very cute one for 8.80. Such a deal. Then I looked closer. Embossed snake leather 35073097 for 31.25, October Paisley Sa 34284851 for 4.24, Mesh Bracelet Inte 35615996 for 13.29. That's $48.78 plus tax. San Leandro sales tax is 9%. That's 49.22. I was charged for $49.22 for items I did not buy! I called the store. I was told I have to drive there and show them my bag. Think about it. If I was trying to cheat them, wouldn't I just leave those things at home? So I called my credit card company. They said to wait until the charge shows up on my statement and then dispute it. Don't know which I'm going to do yet. Am really mad! read more
