I walked in politely last week to ask about my YSL Military jacket (with the receipt for over $1000) and AS soon as I open my mouth ask about consignment she shuts me down in this really strange angry fashion. I almost forgot it was consignment because she looked at me and responded in a way like i was trying to sell old navy clothes to Chanel. She didn't look at my jacket and said she didn't want any of my "stuff". After I witness her being kind and polite to the other patron in the store I felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. I tried looking around because the store is full of beautiful things. but i felt too uncomfortable after the interaction so i left. and she shouted bye in this condescending way. My friend was putting coins in the meter when this happened and she saw me crying and said what happend? why did you leave? i told her and she said something to her from outside the store. she came running out with her camera harassing us further. said something trans-phobic to my friend and i told her she made me anxious and what the point of all this is. she said it sounds like your problem. This review is way overdue, after a bad experience with the owner,Lynn, about 2 years ago I decided to give this place another try since there are not many places in Berkeley to shop and I definitely regret it now . Apparently their prices after don't sell for over one year go up , who knew ?!? I tried on a pair of jeans that apparently went from $19 to $20 after over one year . I told the SA that they are probably $10 but she refused to budge telling me that they are $20 ... however I found out that they are actually $10 and I got overcharged. I totally miss Farzana, Camille and past sales associate ladies with great customer service ... Just thinking about my credit card statement for the month of December has me shuddering in my new coffee brown leather boots (not to be confused with the chocolate brown ones). Still, I couldn't stop myself from visiting Labels and giving one final swipe to my weary plastic. Believe me, you'll be swiping too. My roommate, a recent transplant from London, discovered Labels shortly after she moved to the Bay Area and has been making weekly visits ever since. She'll come home in a suspiciously good mood, and later I find out she scored a silk Hermes scarf, or a good-as-new Coach belt, or some gorgeous vintage clutch at Labels. So, when I whined about how I needed to find a pillbox hat for a costume party, and didn't want to drive all over town, she assured me that Labels had me covered. And did they ever! I called first to ask about their selection and the owner happily talked me through some options over the phone, set them aside for me, and had them waiting at the counter when I came in for my "fitting". After seeing their impressive chapeau collection (along with the glorious floor-to-ceiling inventory of belts, purses, shoes, jewelry, etc), I settled on a dainty black "Breakfast at Tiffany's" style hat (see the pic!) for $22. A very good deal for such snazzy vintage flair. This place is a girly girl's dream. If your wardrobe needs an overhaul, or just a few baubles to brighten it up, schedule a couple hours to scan the shelves at Labels. The staff are super friendly and helpful, the selection is insane, and the prices are very fair. Who needs groceries when you can have accessories instead?! read more

Wow. When I first walked in, it felt like I was in designer heaven. The items are all grouped together neatly and the more expensive ones like Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, etc. were behind the glass covered walls. Upstairs are all the high-end shoes and boots that were to-die-for, like these soooo cute Gucci rain boots with soft hair/fur inside. PETA would not be a fan. The prices are steep for some of the shoes that have been almost totally worn though. They do have a layaway program 50% down and you have 30 days to pay. The bags and wallets I would say are half of the retail price, but some even have pen marks and are still selling them for like $20. No clothes like the Walnut Creek store though, but they have tons of jewelry, scarfs and even Tiffany's. Farzana was great. Pleasant and friendly. I will definitely come back. I just bought a Gucci bag at another store so I'm on shopping suspension, but I can still look. =0) read more

As a customer I've had nothing but wonderful experiences at this store. Great customer service and wonderful products. I decided to try doing consignment with them. The experience started off great. However, when I called back a few months later to check on my products the woman on the phone was incredibly dismissive to me and rude. Halfway through the conversation she hung up on me. I emailed to follow up about the call, the check I was owed and one of my purses that had gone missing and received no response. A few days later I did get my check but still no contact about my missing purse. I've worked in retail and I understand how frustrating customers can be, and maybe this time I was that customer. However hanging up on me and not keeping track of the belongings I trusted you with doesn't make me feel safe and secure doing business with you. Hopefully this can all get resolves, but I will take my items elsewhere next time. *If anyone from Labels reads this, I am still waiting on information regarding my lost purse. After several emails and phone calls I still have not gotten a response or any information on where it might be.* read more

So the manager in here is a MAJOR bitch. I can forgive her not greeting me or asking if I needed any help (even as I peered into closed cases) given that I don't wear my LV around the hood of Berkeley. Naturally, she would flock to the older ladies despite the fact that I, can, in fact not only afford to buy there but also to own a home in the neighborhood (a la pretty woman -- "Big mistake, huge..."). But what really rubbed me the wrong way was her correcting the grammar of her assistant right in front of the customers and then having her repeat it back. Really? I had a lot of fun shopping here! Totally eclectic. Even though a lot of things weren't my style, it was so fun to come in and try on things I usually never would have chosen. Even though that's something I could do in a department store, I like that Labels has a more casual feel. Kinda like being at a high-end, curated clothing swap. Trying new things does a lot to help me develop my style, so this is a good go-to spot for doing that in comfort. I came out of there with only one blouse, but it's a perfect cotton blouse with embroidery all over. What's MORE! I accidentally left my favorite cardigan and ball cap in there when I left. I was tired... And I had to get on a plane early the next morning!! So I called and they were totally willing to work it out with me to send my things to where I live. Unbelievably rude and condescending. I am working in the luxury goods industry with collectors in NY and the Bay Area and I wanted to ask the owner if I can consign my own collection of Chanel bags, Chanel jewelry and other haute couture items so I walked by the shop on Ashby and was happy to see someone inside. The owner opened the door and gave me an icy arrogant look, treating me like a piece of dirt, yelling ' we are closed' and asking 'if I had another question' (basically kicking me out) and I should 'instead support the shop in Walnut Creek' and she slammed the door on me. After years in this industry in London and New York I have not seen that level of unprofessional behavior. I guess the fact that I happened to wear shorts and a no name sweater made her judge me as a person not worth spending her time with. What a small minded shop owner. read more

Not sure why the sales people even bother coming to work! Great place for well-made clothes and shoes: I've found everything from cocktail dresses to sandals to work clothes, in great condition for perfectly reasonable prices! I recommend consigning here too: sometimes they forget in which store your item is, and you have to wait for the money until after it sells, but I've gotten more i expected for quite a few items! read more

Brought in a stylish pair of in season Jimmy Choo's purchased for $895 to cosign. I wore them once. I checked back a few times since they don't have an online portal or call/email you etc.... (like many other consignments stores in the Bay Area). The last time I checked the rep told me they were at another store and hadn't sold. He said, "you need to call Walnut Creek and they can be transferred here for pick up". Okay, great! Wrong. I called and they said, "our records show you picked up a CHECK for $21". I did not. I told her to check their records again--had the check been cashed for example? She could not tell based on the account. I requested the manager/owner please call me. If they sold for $42.00 since Labels is 50/50 I would like proof of that purchase. read more

The gals here were very nice when I came in. I'm young, I have money to spend, I don't wear it too often but there was no "Pretty Woman" scene here. They were just opening and very friendly. Large assortment of all designer handbags, vintage handbags, designers shoes etc Lots of scarves. They made it very clear that their inventory caters to an older crowd---they don't have heels as high as their Walnut Creek location which caters to, well, the YOUNG rich gals who live out there! Dropped off some clothes and picked up some Frye boots! My focus is to let go of the old and welcome to new, well-- new to me. Awesome if I can help fund my consumer endeavors with consigning, but not necessary. With this mindset, you can have a lot of fun at Labels. Camille is really sweet and a fashion plate. She makes consigning and checking in on your items very easy. The selection is all across the board. Mostly contemporary apparel with a shoe department upstairs, handbags and wallets on the walls and a great assortment of jewelry (incld. fine) and even fragrances. The prices go down over time if they don't sell and these are clearly marked on the tabs. They say I should check out their Walnut Creek location. I think I will. I highly recommend for suits, handbags and coats. If you get lucky, you may find a few antique/ vintage pieces of fine jewelry. read more

I only recently discovered Labels, what a treat! I've consigned with many shops around the east bay, they are by far my fave. The store itself is beautiful, upscale vibe; Miguel is the manager and just a doll! They have great taste, price well, have good sales on pretty dresses etc if you're looking for a bargain... they always have Chanel etc... it's a great shop! PS they DO have clothing, and a nice shoe selection as well! read more

I don't even know where to start with this review. I have been coming to the Berkeley labels ever since it opened and have been happy consigning with them. Until recently. CONSIGNORS beware. I have brought a lot of items to Labels. Back in May, I brought a bunch of items, including 2 vintage Juliana rhinestone necklaces. I have picked up checks since then, so I had assumed that they didn't sell. About a month ago I decided to pick up all of my inventory and try my hand at selling on ebay. This pick up would have included my necklaces. When I called to double check which items I had left, the sales lady had NO clue where my necklaces were. They could not locate them in their computer or in their inventory. They claimed to have called Walnut Creek with no luck. I was flabbergasted. I mean, your only job is to keep track and sell MY stuff. The saleslady said she would look into it and get back to me. Days went by. No call. So I called back again, and still the same issue. They had NO clue where my necklaces were. Perhaps they were put on the "house" account by accident...perhaps they were never entered into the computer. They really had no idea. And the owner was away and apparently not accepting calls. She wouldn't be back for 3 weeks. Oookkk....well, I want my stuff back. Period. Days went by...still no call back. I mean, I must have called 5 times or so without receiving a call back from these people. Finally, one of the sales ladies claimed that she spoke with the owner. The owner had them in her possession, pricing them?, and she was personally going to purchase them herself and there would be a check waiting for me for the consigned amount...meaning 50% of the selling price. Hold up now....the owner was pricing them in October when I brought them in May? She had them with her on her vacation? She was purchasing them herself and then only giving me the 50% consignors fee?? NO way. I told the girl that would just not work for me and I wanted the full 100% of the cost when the owner got back. The owner got back in town and finally called me back. She had no clue what I was talking about when I relayed to her the message that her salesperson had told me. Not sure if she was calling me a liar or not, but it was not the most pleasant conversation. she said that someone had purchased the necklaces back in May in the Walnut Creek store. Ok wtf. There are sooo many things wrong with this story. Why had the salesperson told me she had the necklaces? If they WERE sold in Walnut Creek why hadn't I gotten paid? Maybe they had lost the necklaces and were trying to cover their asses? Who knows really. Finally, the owner agreed to reimburse me 100% for both necklaces, which I was happy with. So, I went in to pick up my check and lo and behold the necklaces had surfaced!! Seriously confused and annoyed. There was a card from the owner apologizing for what had gone down and now claiming that the necklaces had been a layaway that was past due so they cancelled it. One star for the fact that the owner wrote me a card thinking that would be a sufficient apology for this fiasco. In the end, I have my necklaces and ALL of my stuff back from this store. I was told about 4 different stories about where the necklaces ended up and frankly, their inventory system seems pretty flawed to me. At one point, one of the salesladies told me that this sort of thing happened frequently. Basically, I don't like being lied to and I don't like leaving my stuff somewhere that can't be trusted. Check out the reviews for the Walnut Creek location before you consign with these people. They really need to tighten up their operation and learn about what good customer service means. read more

Where to begin with this crappy store and crappy service?! I consigned my gently used and new hand bags with tags at this store a few months ago. I called to see what sold and what did not sell. They said my Gucci bag was not "authentic" so they kept it in the back room and said it will be here for pick up along with other items that did not sell. Well...when it came to picking my items, my Gucci bag was NOT listed under my account which was suspicious AND it was not in the back room like they said. It took over 30 minutes and calling other employees to calling the store in Walnut Creek to locate my Gucci bag. The girl who was helping me locate my purse was telling an employee on the phone that she is looking for a Gucci bag that was not authentic. Who says that?! Anyhow, apparently the owner of the store took my bag to sell in Gucci because it was AUTHENTIC to sell in Walnut Creek. When I called Walnut Creek I was told that I have an account with them there but I never authorized to have an account In Walnut Creek. Having an authorize account means signing a consignmemt form which I only signed for the Berkley store. I also found out that a couple other of my hand bags were sold in Walnut Creek that was not disclosed to me nor did the consignment form I signed specified that. The other major issue I have with this store is that I was never provided with a print out of what items sold and for how much. However the items that sold In Walnut Creek specified how much my bags sold for and how much I would receive . The check that I got was very disappointing. I felt like I got ripped off! Selling 8 name brand bags and I barely got $250! I was better off keeping my hand bags than to sell them there and with that kind of service. Worse consignment shop ever! Some of the bags they sold were old and ugly but super expensive. If they bags are priced so high why are the consigners getting pennies back?! These people checking for authenticity of purses need better training! How can you not tell what is an authentic bag versus a real Gucci bag when it's part of your job?! One of the employees asked if I had a receipt of my Gucci bag. Why would I? It was a gift! I wish I could give this place negative stars!!!! read more

I had to write this review after going into Labels today. It was so shocking that when I walked in clearly looking and picking up items that I was not greeted or did the workers even look up! They were just having personal conversations the whole time I was there. That made me not want to buy anything. To the last reviewer, it wouldn't have matter if you were carrying your Louis Vuitton...which I was, they still would've ignored you! These workers need a training on customer service! read more

DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE! As a consignor, they do not protect your items left on consignment. TWICE I called ahead to pick up my unsold items. TWICE the 1 employee there forgot to do it. My check has never been ready even when I called well in advance. THEN they donate your items even after they promised the items are there and would be ready for pick up. I would not recommend consigning with this business. Completely disorganized and poor customer service. Maybe they are nice if you purchase something but not if you are selling. FIND ANOTHER CONSIGNOR. That is my recommendation! read more

I visited this shop in Berkeley and found a casual acquaintance behind the register. There wasn't anyone else in the shop so we chatted a bit. I had a couple vintage items from the early 1960s that I needed a little or information about before placing for sale and asked my acquaintance if I could show them to her...did she have time? She did, and we were about to figure out when and this happened: We were loudly interrupted. Not once but three times. I had been warned by people with whom I have done business as one of the local designers and collectors of vintage that a brash, rather rude "young miss" (as my grandmother would have said) worked there in some type of management position. They were right. Not only was this young woman rude from the very moment I walked in the door (interrupting, talking over me, and loudly shouting across the shop) she was also condescending and rude to the employee in question. Having been in this business for a long time, I know (and everyone else in this business knows) that this behavior is simply acceptable on every level possible, particularly concerning colleagues in the vintage & design business. This young woman ended the encounter by summarily insisting that she would not "partner" with me ("Partner"? What does *that* mean?) and making sure I left the shop as if I were a criminal! As I said, I had been warned, but, I do like to make my own decisions about people before passing judgement. Unfortunately, my colleagues in this business hit the nail on the head and a miserable 15 minutes this morning was had by all. I do not recommend this place, for any reason, to anyone. If she was this rude to me, a colleague seeking information, imagine what she would say to a customer. (Which I might have been, if things had gone a little bit more politely.) In addition: One certainly does not show the level of disrespect to an employee that I was witness to this morning! That alone will keep me far, far away. read more

I have consigned here with generally positive results -- i.e. mostly quick sales on lower-priced items, and some other high-priced items have languished without selling. I have also purchased vintage designer handbags here and am THRILLED with my purchases. It's not for everyone, and I think you just have to wait until your item, or your buyer, comes in. I especially commend them for their vintage Louis Vuitton collection. Turnover is brisk on these items. read more

I've only consigned with Labels, and the experience was frustrating to say the least - they were difficult to communicate with, the owner seemed extremely disorganized (my consignment drop-off slip was .. a post-it note??) and a bit all-over-the-place. They sold a Mansur bag for like $150 even though they had said they would pull it off the floor to be returned to me. I also consigned a Tom Ford dress and it was returned covered in stains - I called to ask if they could cover dry cleaning (bc they had rejected other items for fewer stains than that, so it def happened in their possession) and they never got back to me. It seemed not worth it to chase $20 for dry cleaning so I gave up trying to get them to call me back about it, but overall I wouldn't recommend consigning here, there are so many way better/easier/more lucrative options out there especially in the Bay Area. read more

This is a wonderful consignment store; they have well selected items at affordable prices. The sales staff is professional and very helpful. So often times when a customer shops at a retail establishment, the sales staff lacks common decency, not here. I found a great consignment fur coat here for the California festival season. The Staff was very nice and even watched over me as I tried several coats on and gave me their advice.
