I love this shop. It's my neighborhood place to go for everything I could possibly want when it comes to shopping for new clothing, shoes and accessories. I love popping in at least once or twice a month. When I visit, I like to survey the store and I always seem to find something new or what I want. The merchandise is of quality brands , with trendy and unique items that make it the boutque it is. The staff and owners are friendly and helpful, and are a long time buiness. Went on a bit of a journey with them, but dealt with the owner and a few of their staff, and everyone was very helpful and went out of their way to help me. Bottom line. If you're looking for Sanita Clogs this shop will be able to help you one way or another. I am a chef and was looking for clogs either Sanita or Dansko clogs. Elements was listed as an official local seller of Sanita, so called up and was told they had old stock that could fit me with and we can order a pair. Noting that the old stock can deteriorate and wouldn't hold up. Went in and worked with their owner Jason who is incredibly knowledgeable on clogs and had been selling them some time. He use to sell Dansko but switched to Sanita who were the original makers of Dansko, when Dansko began to be made in China. He found me all available options, including ones from other sellers and ones I was not able to find in stock online anywhere. He straight up sent me a link to Zappos saying if this the color you want you can find it here, and these are the ones I am able to order for you. Purchased a pair, they came quickly, he gave them a once over and his them his stamp of approval and gave them to me at a very fair price. Would recommend for men's Sanita clogs (even though they currently don't specialize in men's items) and would go again! read more

One of the best retail experiences offered in the Bay Area. Chelsea, one of the staff members, is a gold mine of great style suggestions. Whether I need some underwear or a great party dress, Chelsea combs through the inventory to curate me a selection of trendy outfits that I feel beautiful and comfortable in. She goes above and beyond to create a stellar shopping experience, something I feel other chain stores lack. In addition, Elements has an eclectic selection of high quality clothing (formal and informal), jewelry, and shoes at a reasonable price point. An update of my review of a year ago -- and Elements gains a star for its excellent customer service. Since my original purchase of Sanitas, I returned to purchase another pair in another color. These are fantastic shoes to wear if you're on your feet all day. These shoes are so popular in fact, that the owner Jason, had to put me on a wait list for a particular color and style. I actually had a credit in the store, and I trusted that when the shoes arrived in 6 months (yes, I waited that long for a pair of Sanitas), that my account would be honored. And indeed it was. Furthermore, when I returned to purchase my new pair, I had my original pair polished with the exact stain found only at Elements. Quoting the owner, Jason, they're a full service store : ) They have a sales woman who is an expert on their lingerie, sales girls who are experts in jewelry and clothing items, and the owner is the expect on shoe maintenance. As for my Golden Gate Bridge "Landmark" necklace produced by Hrvst 3D based in Emeryville and created on their 3D printer? It's a big hit, especially with the guys! Definitely check this store out! I go into Elements every time I am on College Ave. mostly to window shop, but I've made some purchases here over the years. the staff are always friendly, but not pushy. I love their jewelry- something at every price point & I ALWAYS see at least 3 pieces I LOVE. their clothes & shoes also run the gamut from bargain to (in my book) ridiculous, but not always my style. they have a pretty good lingerie selection, for such a small store. always check out the sale rack- you can get some amazing deals there! read more

They have such a nicely curated collection--my wife loves that she can go there and find so many pieces that look good together! We're so grateful that they are offering private shopping hours due to COVID. I was impressed with their safety measures (the dressing rooms are open, and they steam every piece of clothing that someone tries on). The private shopping experience was the best Christmas present for my wife--she went home and changed into some fancy new clothes right away! I owe a lot to Jason for his thorough knowledge of the shoe market, and his knack of suggesting just the right shoe for me. I'm always so dissappointed everytime I walk out of elements. I keep on wanting to give them another chance though because you cannot have that much space and not have more than 1 piece of cute clothing item. I think there is something wrong with the buyer's style. They usually have a pretty decent line up on the mannequins but overall their style is not quite impressive or chic. I always go in thinking that things will change and that I will find that cute outfit to go out in the night with but that's quite rare. I bought 1 thing from the 25 times that I go there and that's saying a lot because I like to burn a hole in my wallet until it's on fire!!! If Element was a girl, she will look like the girl you really want to get to know because she is cute and friendly but then when you talk to her, she is actually a robot. haha. Random, but oh well, it's midnight! Also, it always smells like feet there, I dont know if that has changed recently but I notice that the ventilation sux. BUYER BEWARE-Their return policy: 10 day exchange only or store credit and no returns on sale items. I only mention their above policy because I had a horrible experience with this store trying to do a return I don't want to get into the details of the experience, but I just want to warn people that if you choose to go to this store the sales associates are not helpful and the sales associate that i had approached was rude and uninterested in my return (who actually is a manager). Element could be one of those great stores on College Ave. that you just make that special stop because they always have great stuff for a decent price. I love this stylish, curated boutique. The interior is spacious and relaxing, with lots of natural light. I believe the owners work in the store most of the time, so the service is thoughtful, attentive and prompt, but never pushy. They have a great selection of casual, urban, contemporary, adult styles for work and for the weekend (and when I say adult, I don't mean boring, I just mean - for example - here you will not find sexy pieces for a night out, or body conscious athleisure. But if you are a college student who wants to look a little more put together, or a professional wants something current but not trendy, you'll find something here). I am not super trendy, but I don't like to wear stuff that looks dated from five years ago, either. I come here whenever I want something to update my wardrobe, is good quality, and won't cost a fortune. Prices at this boutique are not cheap, I'd say a top is probably going to be in the $50-$90 range, but that's what you pay for clothing that is both unique and well made. And shoes and jewelry! Come here if you need stylish shoes from knowledgeable staff, and for jewelry that is one-of-a-kind. I could easily spend thousands of $$ at this awesome store...if I had thousands of dollars to spend. In the meantime, I enjoy purchasing the occasional pair of shoes for myself or the honey and great gifts for family- particularly snuggly sweaters during Winter. My favorite employee there is Natasha, she's so sweet, really knows shoes, and she even has a call list to let you know when you wish list items arrive in the store. A bit about their style - lovely jewelry ranging from funky handmade pieces to carefully set precious stones, decent selection of designer jeans (Joe's, etc), awesome funky, sleek, & supportive shoes (Hunter, Ugg, Dansko, & more), sweet little summer dresses, sexy undergarments of all kinds, and -what decent boutique wouldn't be complete without- Hanky Panky panties on the counter! :) Even though I don't want you to buy all the goods before me, I still recommend you check this place out. After working more than three decades in retail, I KNOW customer service excellence. One word: Elements. ...Within minutes of arriving in Berkeley from out of town, the shoes I was wearing started giving me a blister--and we had a long day of walking ahead. So, I peeled off College Avenue and into Elements to purchase emergency backup. Only a couple of miles out the door and three-inch long angry abrasions rose on the tops of my feet. But, by that time, I was too far away to hobble back to the store and deal with it. That's the bad (and painful) news. Here's the good news...when I originally came into the shop with my shoe crisis, Chelsea couldn't have been nicer. She greeted me promptly, treated me with respect, and helped me the entire way through the transaction. More good news...when I got home, the abrasions had turned to thick gouges (that's NOT the "good" part.) I took a chance and called the store, hoping to exchange the even-worse replacement pair. Chelsea answered, remembered me and set aside another pair of shoes I had happened to try on while in the store. She promised to have Jason, the owner, call me to follow up. Jason and I connected and the great service continued with his unhesitating can-do attitude. Did I mention I live roughly 500 miles from his shop? He agreed to exchange the shoes, and I snapped a few quick photos for him of the offending footwear. I sent them along with some choice evidence shots of my wounded feet for good measure. He even issued me a store credit for the difference. I would have accepted an even exchange for his troubles since I was returning a worn pair of shoes, but he insisted. My feet are healed and I'm happy in my new better-fitting shoes. If you think customer service is dead, or applies only to Nordstrom, think again. I was sad because it seemed like I was in-between sizes. Jason to the rescue! He stretched the boots so that they fit perfectly. His knowledge of shoes and how they should fit is amazing. Two things that are very important to me in any store. - selection - customer service My sister and I walked and received no acknowledgment from the staff who were all hanging out near the registers and no other customers. When it looked like we were looking at the shoe selection one of the ladies finally came up and asked if we needed a pair. I was in the middle of my sentence ' No, but if ... ' then she just turned around and walked away. Wow, nice! This store use to have a separate shoe section next to it but they down-sized and tried to make the whole store accommodate whatever stock they have. Its honestly a confusing mess of a wanna-be-boutique that its more of a smaller version of a department store. I live in Rockridge and College Ave. is my home, don't ruin it with attitude because we locals are your number one customers. I had a really strange experience in this store. I was in Therapy (down the street) looking for black flats with pointy toes, which they had, but in snakeskin. I wanted something a bit more formal and simple, so I decided to look around at other shops. I stopped in Elements and asked the salesclerk if they happened to have black flats with pointy toes. She said something along the lines of "No, we don't," and added, "you're going to have a hard time finding that because it's not in fashion right now." This place strikes me as a hit or miss place. Very reasonably priced. Designers include: Dereon, Tulle, Blue Cult, Felina, etc. They really do seem to have a hodgepodge of different items, with different styles, i.e., it would be interesting to see if they have one buyer or more. Each time I've gone there I end up thinking about a coat / jacket I see there. This time around, I am jonesing for that certain white mandarin Tulle jacket that they didn't have in my size. Shoe and purse selection next door is OK, too. But their styles seem to be a "step" behind even SF stores. Once you spend ANY money here, you'll never get it back if something doesn't fit or work out - pathetic, unethical business practice. Very simple situation - Husband bought me a nice coat for Xmas and I just needed a different size. Brought the coat in to exchange 3 days past the 10 day cut off period (mind you, holidays, plus observed holidays, vacation and the gift receipt taped inside the wrapped box the coat came in) and they didn't have my size. Fine, since I had my receipt, please just refund me and I'll move on. Well, the store 'post Xmas' had one coat left and they put on the sale rack for 40% off - so the store would only return me the SALES PRICE AS A REFUND. Mind you, they had my receipt in hand for a full priced product purchased 12/21 as a xmas gift. I will never step foot in that store again. Don't ever buy gifts from them - the return option will expire before the person receives it. Aside from the above, the managers have the girls so hand tied, they have to call and ask the manager to do anything. Makes the customer feel like they've done something wrong simply to exchange a coat size. read more

Not happy with the return policy. Although the store does tell you that there are exchanges only, I assumed I would be happy with my purchase so went ahead with it. When I got home and tried on the item again I realized what I bought was made with synthetic materials, not natural fiber, as it first appeared. Although this was my mistake in not looking carefully enough, I was still displeased that I could only exchange the item.
