But while wandering around myself, I noticed several items with a prominent tag "Proudly made in Oakland California". I love that. It's a boutique that specializes in bright colors and patterns, like the late sixties dropped in for a visit and decided to stay. It was very tidy and well organized. And they have husband chairs near the dressing rooms. The staff was very attentive, making nice suggestions. And it was reasonably priced. read more

Beautiful prints and vibrant colors greet one upon entering the store. The clothes have a British mod vibe. Sadly, the fit of some of the clothes is quite off and the customer service wasn't great (the clerks on the Sunday I visited were too busy scrolling on their cell phones to offer customers much help). I ended buying a few of their silk/cotton twill scarves--they are marvelous, holding up well to a handwashing and receiving lots of positive compliments. read more

I finally got to see Lesley Evers in person! Woohoo! I bought something online about five years ago now and have worn it happily ever since. I kept saying that I'd pop by the store next time I'm in the Bay Area but I never managed to make it until yesterday. I'm not as young as I used to be and clothes don't always look the way I expect them to anymore, but these styles look really cute and I love the bold patterns and colors. What a delight to finally shop in person at a store that is homegrown with clothing that's made locally. Mary was super patient with me and showed me a number of cute things and she offered to ship a couple items back so that I wouldn't overload my carry-on suitcase. A great place to stop by while strolling through Rockridge. Very close to the BART station. Almost all of the product in store is made IN OAKLAND! Locally owned and operated. You can tell the quality is durable and there is a lot of intention in the designs. The staff here are friendly and packaged my clothing for me after purchase. Very cute! read more

I saw Lesley Evers clothing in my Facebook feed and was drawn to the colors and prints. It took me over a year to get here. I love the fact the clothes are designed in USA. There are so many cute items with fabulous colors. They are well made and good quality fabrics. The prices are very reasonable particularly considering they are made in the USA and not cheaply made in China. The sales clerk was very friendly and helpful. I hate to bash a local business but I had an extremely disappointing experience at Lesley Evers. I bought a dress that needed to be shortened. I figured I'd get it done in house because who would have a better sense of the lines of the item? I asked for it to be just above the knee. It was ready while I was on a trip, so I asked my husband to pick it up. It was halfway up my thigh. I was shocked but figured this would be an easy conversation. Unfortunately, I was mistaken. Lesley herself was in the store when I came in. I tried the dress on and she remarked, "I think it looks cute." Well, that doesn't really come into play here. You have a customer who asked for just above the knee and the dress is substantially above that. She went on to say "My people are professionals, and they pinned it on you, so it must be right." Doubling down. I guess no one at Lesley Evers has EVERS made a mistake. I'm so disappointed and won't be back. read more

I bought my first dress online at the designer's website in April. Since then, I have become completely obsessed, buying 3 more dresses, 3 jackets, and 10 tops, from the designer's website plus second hand on ThredUp, Poshmark, and ebay. For a 50+ woman, her designs are totally "me" - a cross between Marimekko, Art Deco, and Lilly Pulitzer. I feel like I've rebranded myself with her design aesthetic. I was looking for masks when they were still a bit challenging to find, but luckily I found this locally proud designer offering a specialized material in an effort to protect consumers. Initially, the masks were so popular the shop could barely meet demand, but after a week or two I was able to purchase a set of two by mail. Both masks are comfortable and stylish even though the options were preset. After that purchase I received an email with a special on some blouses. Incentivized by 50% off I purchased a beautiful pink blouse for my Mom. Somehow I ordered/received the wrong size. I emailed the shop, they got back to me immediately, and they sent me the correct size and a free return postage link. I was surprised that they sent the replacement without pressing me to initiate the return first. I was beyond impressed. It's not often that art and function intersect--but they do here. The store is named after the designer and owner, and you see her stamp on everything. The owner is passionate about her work and it shows in everything in the store. She designs all of the clothes and they are locally made and reasonably priced, especially for such high quality, detailed oriented clothing. And did I say they were fun? Well, they make you happy when you wear them! Another thing that I love is that she uses real people for her models on her website: different ages and body types. Likewise, her clothes are for real bodies: they make you look great and are super comfortable. Finally, they are flexible as they can take you from work to a dinner party. Just yesterday I was wearing the Audrey embroidered pants and I got a ton of compliments! I also have a great red top that is such a great, flattering fit. Lesley Evers is a high-end clothing boutique a block from Rockridge BART. They sell dresses, skirts, blouses and a few accessories. It's a small store, so the selection is rather limited. They tend to feature bold prints and colors, and styles that are conservative: not revealing, work-appropriate, and (some might say) a little boring. The prices are high, $375 for a tank dress!!. They do have sales, but only on whatever hasn't been purchased - so usually XL and XS. The store feels a bit like an exclusive club frequented by fancy ladies, which is perhaps why my friends and I never feel like we fit in here. They seem to be doing well, though, so must have a solid following. Check out Crush and Tootsies down the street for more affordable options!! read more

If I could wear it every day, I would. Lesley herself has a lot of integrity and interacts frequently with her customers on Facebook. I initially ordered a six pack of masks in April from Lesley Evers. I like that the masks are made locally, and I received them within a week by USPS. The masks are really well made, lots of stitching, adjustable straps, a metal nose bridge to secure it and pretty fabric designs. I ordered two more masks in June. Unfortunately, both of the masks from my last order had labels that stuck out on the side of the mask. It didn't look good. When I removed the labels, I nearly cut into the fabric of the mask. For this reason, I reduced the number of stars to 4. I would order more masks if the label was sewn inside the mask or no label at all. read more
