Ruti has a terrible return policy, would never shop here again. 14 day return window for a refund is ridiculous for $250 pants.

The sales associates at Berkeley were helpful and attentive at first, but the experience shifted negatively when I needed to return part of my purchase, and they became noticeably cold and seemed to take it personally. Also worth noting, they only offer store credit for returns, so something to keep in mind before purchasing. I'll stick to shopping online. read more

Went to Ruti today to buy a new pair of jeans I had seen online. I was the only person in the store but the sales clerk ignored me. She was clearly sick, coughing and not covering her mouth or wearing a mask. I finally left without her ever saying a word and I didn't bother to buy the pants I came for. I'm not sure if this business is so popular they can afford to be rude to customers, but there have already been a lot of businesses in that 4th space and most of them don't last long. If you're thinking of going to Ruti, don't bother. They don't want your business or mine. read more

Absolutely obnoxious and pushy sales people. The two Russian speaking ladies kept telling me that "that's the style, it's designed to fit that way!". Ladies, I know what the current trends are, no need to explain them to me and pretend that something looks good on me. Will not be back. read more

Ruti customer service is a literal joke. It started with them sending me the wrong item. I had to take pictures to prove their mistake and by the time this was done the item I wanted was no longer in stock. I then spent over two months attempting to get a refund. There is no customer service person available on the phone and the customer has to withstand numerous AI email responses before a real human gets involved. After working for over two months to get a refund, which they told me I could have, they offered a gift certificate and refused to refund my money. The effort it took to get anything accomplished was ridiculous and maddening. Their policies are suited to their business not the customer and their customer service is almost nonexistent. I wandered in looking for an outfit for an event and found a couple pieces I was interested in. The sales woman noticed my interest and began to engage with me enthusiastically, all smiles and friendly attention. But in the process she proceeded to force several other options on me that I said multiple times weren't my style, some of which I rejected out right, yet she still handed me more while I was in the fitting room. When I came out saying most of it didn't work and I wanted to think about it before dropping $500+ on a pair of jeans and a casual top, she literally turned away from me, wouldn't make eye contact and didn't say a word when I thanked her and exited. If your staff is going to be that blatantly rude, you can forget my patronage. The old adage, how you treat those who can't do anything for you says everything about you applies here. read more

This note is about the Service. I love the clothes and have been a customer of yours from the get go! Wednesday May 29th at 3;30pm I went to your Berkeley location to buy my first pair of jeans. I left without a purchase, having been basically ignored, snubbed and insulted by the salesperson there. I had to ask repeatedly for sizes and then styles, which based on eye rolls and grunts, seemed like a major hassle for her. Apparently she could not hear me either, but then again, she was sporting an earbud and moving to music, while I was asking for help. Her disinterest and disdain to be present for me was simply remarkable. When I said thank you and good bye, this person literally turned her back on me without a word. I felt like garbage. and said "you are very rude," which netted me a scoff and a sneer!? I am writing this review because I love your clothes and I do not believe it is in your interest to have such people representing you. I have shopped here for many years and have always had great service from the staff. Most recently yesterday I met a lovely lady by the name of Natasha who was extremely helpful and gave me some great ideas on how to wear certain pieces. She went out of her way to make sure that I also had an opportunity to look at the sale items- I love their clothing line and I'm always surprised when I try on items that I wouldn't have necessarily picked out for myself! When boutique shopping, Ruti has got to be one my favorite stores. My friends and I frequent this shop, and often find sweet Liz working and helping us. On occasion, you may see the owner (she travels to Israel often). Do take a peek at their collection: Lots of solids, asymmetrical, contemporary and modern designs. Although they are on the pricey side, you may get lucky and find a few on sale, clearance (just be sure to keep your eye on them). Aside from clothing, they have unique jewelry made by local artists (my friend, Z always has her eye on new, incoming pieces), clutches, bags and one of a kind shoes (very similar to some I've seen in Europe, not in the US). Every time I bring a friend into this shop, they end up buying something from Ruti. Very well made design, and you'll be sure to receive lots of compliments! read more

I stopped into this store instead of just walking by as usual. The clothing is a bit hard to imagine when not worn, but Allison helped me select a few pieces and they were great! They are pricey, for sure. But they are well made, interesting shapes and so unlike the boring and disposable mall-shop clothing. The next time I returned, Allison greeted me by name and had a few other items in mind for me. She and all of the other associates I've seen there are good at suggesting items but they are or pushy or insulted if you don't like something. I've had issues with 2 items but I returned them with no problem for store credit. I recommend this store! Give it a try! read more

It's a pricey boutique, and not everyone's style. It's not mainstream (read: boring) and not too aging Berkeley. The woman working today, Meagan (sp?) is a champ. She was pulling items out to try and steering customers towards flattering fits. She diplomatically sorted sizes. While I was trying dresses three regulars came in. She knew their names and commented on prior purchases. Yet, I felt as part of things despite it being my first visit. read more

I started coming getting clothes at Ruti about a year ago and can't be more happy with the store and its staff. Ruti's clothing is interesting, well-made, and unique, with materials that are flattering to all kinds of body shapes. What stands out, too, is the sales team. Allison and Liz are both stellar salesfolks. They know a ton about all of pieces in the store, keep track of what I've liked and not liked in the past so that they can make wise recommendations, and have even called me to tell me when things arrive in the store that they think I might like. I did a review of Ruti's a few years ago and decided to update my review due to their consistency of excellence. I continue to make this store my primary shopping destination due to its cutting edge designs which flatter every body type. The other reason I continue to shop there are the stylists Ruti hires. They are all outstanding not only for their fashion sense but also for their friendliness and helpfulness. I have never felt pressured to purchase anything and have even been dissuaded from purchasing items that were not flattering on my body type. I recommend that any new customer take the time to actually try on a few pieces. You will be amazed at how good you will look. I am always getting compliments on my wardrobe. It's such a relief to reach into my closet and know that any selection purchased at Ruti's will be appropriate and make me look great. The store has beautifully designed clothes that will fit a normal-sized woman. It's stylish AND comfortable/wearable. The assistance is also excellent: pleasant, unpretentious, makes suggestions without forcing things.
