It's holiday time and I was gifted shoes that are not my style. Called to see if I could exchange past the window. With Omicrom I have not wanted to go out and shop unnecessarily to help stop community exposure. Told I could not. I said I would exchange for something more expensive and spend more money in your store. I was told exchanging it in their system was not worth his time. Then told they are a small business and long exchange periods are hard. I'm a small business owner too and bringing in more money is majority of the time a good thing. I've shopped in here previously, I will say it's one of those places I try to be in and out, they mostly engage with the guys. The younger guy maybe 30 is ok, he's very cocky and into himself. Been here a few times & staff are still rude and not at all welcoming. I asked the worker at the front desk how much the item at the top shelf is & he just mumbled a random price. He then told me "You can check it. It's on there". Mind you I'm a petite woman & there was no way I could even reach the item because it was placed up so high! Sneakers are ok- nothing mind blowing but merchandised in a way which makes some customers think they're unique. The guy behind the counter was so condescending and moronic. He couldn't be bothered to get up from his seat and was full of cringeworthy comments. Maybe that kind of behavior impresses the teenagers that shop there. Ultimately, the experience is lame and the selection is just ok. Yup, they've got shoes. I'm not that much of a sneaker freak, but I know enough that I see shoes here that you can find elsewhere, but finding it there in your size is what matters. My friend found almost the ENTIRE Marc by Marc Jacobs Vans shoe line in here. She almost died. Though they don't have a TON of shoes to offer, you're bound to find something to make your friends jealous. It's spacious and if you're busy waiting for your friends to make their selections, they've got special magazines for you to buy (not read, cause they're wrapped). read more

An art gallery for sneaker heads. If you're looking for street sneaks that'll turn heads, Bows & Arrows has the right stuff. Good curated selection of the latest Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Asics, Converse and Vans, for both men & women. Surprisingly, prices aren't crazy, pretty comparable to what you'd find online. Plus, they have some decent sales so can sometimes score last season's styles for 40-50% off. Service is a little blase, with the shop kids pretty much glued to their phones. But, if you prefer hands-off customer service that'll let you browse without bother, this will work. 3 stars for service, 4 stars for selection. read more

As a sneakerhead who used to collect Jordans and Nike SB Dunks back in high school, I was delighted to find this sneaker boutique very close to campus my freshman year. From my experience, to find a place that sells quickstrike Jordans/Nikes, Vans CA, and other exclusive is very rare. In fact, I have driven from San Diego to Los Angeles to buy shoes. However, this place is only 10 or so minutes away walking from my place. My first purchases here was a pair of Vans California Authentic, which is the only type of Vans I buy by the way, in green with bird prints. To this date, these shoes were one of my favorites of all times. Since then, I always stop by here when I am walking on Telegraph for one reason or another. The people there are always welcoming and helpful. Several times through the years, I came in, looked at some shoes, and contemplated about purchasing one. However, I've retired from the sneaker game and now mostly wear white leather or canvas Converse Purcell's, which they do carry but not my size. Once Vans decides to release some nice Vans CA Authentic shoes again, I will definitely be here to buy a pair. read more

The collection of shoes is pretty small, but it works. I love the raffles they hold every so often to get limited releases. What impresses me is that they are on top of things on social media. I am always informed of their new releases - being an independent store isn't easy and I commend them for their effort. If you don't care about the social media aspect, remove one star from this review. Great friendly service and some sleepers (shoes) can be found in this hipster boutique. For my four years at Cal, I've been shopping at Bows and Arrows for the go to spot for trendy, modern footgear. Not to mention, I'm a shoe head and I manage to find dope kicks at this venue. Furthermore, I just found out that this store now has a Jordan account meaning they sell Js. I bought the Olympic 6s, Uptempo air and barkleys here. This compelled me to write an even more positive review! Good stuff fellas! Keep up the good work. It's definitely not the Alife that's for sure, but apparently that's not what they're going for. They are all about the classics. They have some interesting kicks, if you are looking for a lot of the crazier shoes with more out there color ways you won't find that many here because they want to be more about the classics that will endure the changing fads. I understand that keeping the space itself very minimal with just white walls and shoes (as most high end stores do) was intentional, but since they focus on carrying a select number of styles at a time I wonder how often they update their inventory and how the experience may differ base with each inventory update. Then again, that's part of the appeal, it could potentially be a different store each time. With that said, they have some cool shoes and if you are looking for the OG classics you should stop by, but if you want to see how inventive people can get with a sneaker as a canvas you may not find many of those kinds of kicks here. read more

Yeah... "A [sneaker] appears, at first sight, a very trivial thing, and easily understood." But B&A is a store for the fetishists. The floor is nice. The plate glass windows are nice. The displays are nice. The people who work there are nice. And recently they were giving out the same magazine you could find at Jack Hanley. So it's all about cultivation and taste. It's not Alife because it's the East Bay, but it's moving in that direction. Only they've got some art on the walls and less attiitude. Nice Vans -- although maybe not that limited edition Marc Jacobs pair you have been wanting. Some nice Adidas. My personal problem: All those Nikes. I couldn't care less if they are limited edition or old fashioned or whatever. I'm sick to death of Nikes. Replace them with Le Coq Sportif or Kappa or Spring Court or something. My teen is a die-hard sneakerhead. One might think a store like this has "attitude" because they do carry very cool and hip dunks. However every time we have been here the staff has been very helpful. This is a boutique sneaker store for this who know what they want in the sneaker world. I remember the first time I visited Bows and Arrows, it was back in 2007 during my freshman orientation. Went in, walked out. Nothing really caught my eye. "Too hype beast," I thought. Fast forward to two days ago. I was walking down Telegraph and I happened to glance into Bows and Arrows and I saw these Red Wing Chukka boots that I'd been contemplating purchasing for ages. So I went in, and my mind has completely changed about the place. Yeah you have your nikes, your reeboks, any shoe that would satisfy any sneakerhead's addiction, but you also have your Red Wings, your Abington's, etc. They've got the footwear to fit your style, whatever it may be. They guys that work here are also super helpful. Really nice dudes and they're really knowledgeable about how each particular brand runs its sizing. Best shoe store in Berkeley..by far. read more

The selection of sneakers are pretty broad, but the only item that caught my attention were the Chukkas they had last year. Who wants to buy GR Dunks when I can buy it for cheaper elsewhere? A friend recommended I check this place out when I was looking for some new kicks. The staff is friendly and provide excellent customer service. The Men's selection tends to be better than the Women's in general, but I have found a few great pairs of shoes here. On several occasions they haven't had my size in a shoe but didn't seem to be receiving restock in them anytime soon. Bows & Arrows is the spot for specialty sneakers in the East Bay!!! They stay on top of drops from all the major brands and always offer sought after shoes for a variety of styles. The staff here are friendly and down to earth (which can't be said for all stores similar). I mostly fugg with Air Max 1's & 90's and they always have a handful to choose from often prior to the competitors. They also carry a nice selection of Herschel backpacks which I rate as well. 4 stars instead of 5 due to the fact that if you don't act quick they will likely be limited in sizes or sold out. Nothing worse than seeing a dope selection of shoes and none of them in your size... other than that 5 stars all day!!! read more

Amazing sneakers and good customer service. Very hip store, and the sneakers they have are unique - I have never seen them anywhere else, including online (I looked on Nike and they weren't there). I bought the Nike Lunarcharge running shoes and I loved them, but they started coming apart 2 months in, so I brought them back and they exchanged them for me no problem. This place has good shoes and friendly people at the counter, BUT a couple of things result in poor overall reviews for us. They often have great shoes on the floor, but very few sizes of each shoe. We tried to buy about 5 pairs of shoes but they didn't have our size in much of anything. In addition, their return policy sucks. Only 2 weeks and only store credit. No cash/charge back. This would have been fine if they had anything in our size, but the combination of the two, no cash back and nothing in our size, caused immense frustration. We ended up leaving with store credit and no shoes. :( read more
