I was surprised to find out that True has a location in Oakland. I'm so glad that I don't have to go all the way to the mission to come here. The store is a lot bigger than the sf location. I liked their selection of shoes. I wish they had a little more selection for the ladies. I ended up buying a brown nike hoodie. There were some other shirts I wanted to buy for my husband but they were out of medium and large. There was one particular staff there who was really helpful and kept checking on me.

I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live by the light that I have. I must stand with anybody that stands right, and stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong. Abraham Lincoln Tired of gifting thoughtful earnest scarves hand-knit by Estonian nuns to the 20 something in your life? Uber over to True where store clerks will not judge while competently guiding you through a plethora of brilliant graphic tees and streetwear that cunningly rifts off contemporary artists and classic logos. The look of astonishment in the eyes of the 20 something when they open your gift makes it worth the trip.

I stopped in here before meeting a friend for lunch and was really impressed with the selection of shirts, sweaters, hats, jackets, shoes (and even some infant onesies!) in here. The two gentlemen working in the store were friendly and easy to chat with but I also felt like I could take my time to browse without being bothered. Lots of creative art and designs to be found in here... much more interesting and compelling than the stuff you find in the -ish shop. I picked up this warriors hat but will need to come back when I have more time to shop. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

A lot of the items are pricey but seem to be of a good quality. My favorite part is they are really unique.

Plus your feet will stay warm and dry. Bonus: you'll look sharp, too. I'm still wearing flannels, hoodies, jackets, and jeans that I bought from this shop since it opened in 2012. They don't look as good as when I bought them... THEY LOOK BETTER. Worried it's pretentious? I've found it to be the friendliest, realest, most helpful, most easygoing brick-and-mortar shopping experience I've had in the Bay Area. I usually come in on my way home from the gym, wearing ratty athleisure, from brands they don't carry, and I've never caught an ounce of vibe. Most of the staff have been here for years; that says something too. Old-world ethos, old-school service. We're lucky that businesses like this one -- and the craftspeople whose goods they stock -- still exist. Wishing this fine enterprise many more years.

I've gotten a pair of nice denim here from Warehouse as well as fatigue pants from Orslow. Both times, the staff was on point with helping me nail the sizing. I texted her (due to COVID, still only by appointment) and she replied immediately and I visited that day! I described the event to her, the theme, who I would be meeting, what location it would be, and she totally ran with it and pulled some unique, brand-new couture dresses from Berlin to Tokyo. We were both excited it seemed, and in the end it was so hard to choose! This stuff is quality and comfy! Don't be afraid to tell her what you enjoy and don't enjoy about the dresses, Rana has plenty to choose from and knows what to do with that information. I eventually ended going with a comfy, flattering and elegant black dress that will last me forever. But a close second was a smoky pink feminine asymmetrical dress that made me look like a million dollars. I may be back to splurge on that dress too, as I'm sure I'd wear it plenty and by the 5th or 6th wear I will have already gotten my money's worth! (Rana also gave many tips on how to dress it up or down, style it a bunch of ways... the versatility makes this clothing so much more valuable.) Go ahead and treat yourself, everybody deserves a big girl dress in their closet. It's a huge difference from fast fashion and will probably last you 200x as long. The quality is incomparable. Thanks Rana, I'll see you next time!
