Dude, what a find! I was sitting at a cafe around the corner trying to figure out where I could buy some Birkenstocks in person. I did a yelp search and found this pace and thought there was no chance it was actually open on a Sunday afternoon. I walked over and there were a bunch of customers buying in shoes. It was bumping. I tried on multiple styles and they had them all in my size. I got some great brown suede Boston's. I'm going back next month to get them in black. Time to shop at the Shoe Spot! Just 3 blocks from Broadway, I found a great orthopedic shoe guy, Gus! He has Rockport, Vionic, Birkenstocks and sturdy boots for construction, restaurant industry, and caregiver shoes (Lots of shoes and insoles for jobs and vacations when you are on your feet all the time). We found that he offered excellent service with each patron/customer. Measured my feet before trying anything - did you know most of our footsies have a half-inch difference? He does. Mine are 8.5 wide on right, and 9 wide on left! So, Gus, was super patient and cool, recommended a few pairs, with no hard sell, and the insoles he selected feel like I'm walking on clouds, yes! This is one month after purchase. Total value, I will return for work shoes and vacay sandals for sure. read more

This is one of the last great service stores in America, I feel like. The shop is fairly small and for most of my visit I was the only customer in there. Gus, the owner, was present, gracious, knowledgeable, and helpful. I came here to pick up a pair of Birkenstock's and they had a sale so I ended up getting a good deal -- better than I would have gotten online or at another store. They ha e a wide array of items and the owner was so helpful, asking me what I was looking for, helping me put in my shoes and just trying to make sure that the buying experience was a positive one. The owner is such a sweet person. They opened this location 22 years and he said that it's a short time compared to how long the other shops (now closed) were open when he first came to the block. I wish it were around more things because I can see that being an issue for getting foot traffic at the store. But regardless, I hope to come here again for my next pair of sandals as it was a positive experience and I love to support local small businesses that know what they are talking about and doing. read more

Bought my first pair of boots from here the other day and I can say I'm coming back for when I need another pair. Ive grown to be particular about my leather boot investments and I felt like I was asking a lot of questions and asked to try on multiple boots. Even with that, the owner was really attentive and helpful based on why the previous boot I tried didn't fit my checklist. Another thing I thought was interesting is that I paid less for the boot at Shoe Spot than if I ordered directly from the company which is another reason why I'm coming back for my next pair. My friend got a pair of Birkenstocks during this visit and she said her pair was $10-$15 cheaper than from Birkenstock directly. The owner said its been tough keeping them in stock. To me, for him not to mark the price up because of popularity says a lot about how he runs his business. read more

This is the ultimate Birkenstock shop with the ultimate service ... for over 25 years! For example we asked about a certain model (of which they have dozens!) and the owner said he had them in all 16 colors. He knew and explained everything you might want to know about Birkenstocks, and how to care for them. Took plenty of time attending to our every question and need with a smile! My mom was with me and did not realize she had leaves stuck to the bottom of her shoe ... or that it was because she stepped in dog poop before entering the store. When she was trying on shoes the owner discovered it, and without saying a word took them outside and cleaned off the dog poop for my mom. This was the best "oopsie" find! I dropped in for Birkenstock repairs (which they do not do) and I am convinced this is the best business I have visited in the last few years. Not only did my Birkenstock loving heart soar seeing the collection of shoes (discontinued varieties too) but was helped even after I was informed my sandals could not be repaired here.
