Staff needs better training. Very poor knowledge of inventory, and disrespectful towards customers. I came in with my mother in law, who was looking for a pair of maximalist, wide platform, high-cushion style shoes. She went up to the counter and asked about this kind of shoe, with a passing reference to Hokas, and rather than directing her to the Nike Vomeros, which were on the shelf literally a few feet away, the staff gave her a snide comment about how they only sell shoes that have style. That was one lost sale. I also had seen a sweater I really liked about 10 minutes prior but there was no way I was going to buy it from Shoe Palace after seeing my mother in law get dissed like that. Will take my money elsewhere and will not be returning to any Shoe Palace. Seemed like the prices in this place were nothing to write home about, so I don't know why the customer service is so budget. read more

If anyone with managerial authority, reads this, I strongly recommend that you train your staff in disability justice and basic courtesy. My mom, who is in her 70s, needed new shoes for her arthritic feet. She needs a lot of cushioning to walk without pain and has sometimes had luck with Hokas. Like most people, she would prefer for her shoes to look good, even if they have to have special properties to support her particular body's needs. She is visiting the Bay Area from a rural agricultural area with few shoe store options nearby, so when we walked by the Shoe Palace, she asked to go in and look. I asked at the counter if they had any shoes that could fit my mother's needs. With my mother standing right at hand and with spectacular rudeness and insensitivity, the salesperson at the counter replied that they don't carry those kinds of shoes here because they care about style. For one thing, what he said was expressly untrue. Nike carries a hoka-like shoe that's available in their store and was in stock in two different colors (something we figured out with a quick Internet search). But more importantly, even if they didn't, there was no reason to say something so unkind that suggests that someone with a disability who needs specialized shoes could not possibly be stylish. It's unacceptable. My mother was too embarrassed to try on the shoes at that point. My partner who had been prepared to buy a sweatshirt on their rack put it back because we did not want to support a business that treats people with so little respect or basic care. read more

Professionalism!!! Prior to driving all the way over there, I called to confirm they had a shoe in my size. The csr who answered the phone stated that they in fact had it. I said ok and will be on my way. I get there, no one greeted me or anything. One car was working with a customer and the other wasn't doing anything. The csr that was helping another customer ended up helping me. While I waited for my shoe, the other csr asked if I needed help. I told her that he was grabbing my shoe and then she said she will get it because he was busy. She went to grab it but came back empty handed and said they didn't have it. I told her that I called and I believe it was her who confirmed they had it. She stated that it was her and she thought she had it. What a waste of time. I had a really good experience at Show Palace in Oakland (Temescal neighborhood.) Upon entering, we were greeted enthusiastically and asked if we needed help finding anything. At that point, we were just looking around admiring the store. What I quickly realized, is that the store was packed with really cool shoes that aren't easily found out in my neighborhood (okay, I live in the suburbs and most of the shoes are pretty plain.) Having stumbled upon a treasure trove of hip & trendy shoes, I told my 13 year-old to find an early holiday present. He located an awesome RED pair of Nike Air Force 1s to buy and a quick stop to look around, turned into a fun purchase! The employees were helpful and my trip to Shoe Palace was rewarding. ***Side note*** I found it a bummer that they have to guard the front door area and carefully monitor trying shoes on due to TOTAL LOSERS who attempt to STEAL merchandise by grabbing items and running out the door! After lunch in the Temescal, I had to stop in Shoe Palace. My son was with me and we share the love for sneakers. I frequent the Las Vegas Strip store and the sales associates there are so nice. Equally, we were greeted by everyone. A small shop, but still with the latest drop of new kicks. The Snakeskin Jordon's, reissued Nike Flower and Easter Vapor Max, and a great selection of Vans. We visited this store Sunday 1/16 as my boyfriend was looking for a shoe, we entered and we were immediately greeted by the security guy/employee there, we started browsing and I soon had a girl offering me help. We looked around and a second girl walked towards us and offered help, we were not yet ready as my Bubu is a little picky ;) we looked some more and a guy at register answered my question in a very friendly manner. Once we found THE shoe, the fist girl that offered me help got his shoe, that he liked!! And let me tell you we searched for this shoe all weekend lol so once he decided on it she rung us up, made sure to offered us a shoe cleaner and protector which I got for my sneakers, but in a very jovial way. I'm terrible with names but hope she gets a good review by management, this visit happened Sunday around 4:00 o clock or so. This store is ran by mostly teenagers or young adults, and all the ones that we interacted with were courteous and attentive which is not really the experience I've had in other places, so overall we both were really pleased and most importantly Bubu got his shoes! read more

Yay! I'm so happy there's a Shoe Palace close by. It's in the old Bank of the West building. The Kevin Durant mural is also on the side of the building. COOL!!! Parking is hell tho. Metered, limited parking on a busy street next to a residential area . Tons of shoes for men. Limited shoes for women. I didn't see any kids but maybe I didn't see that wall. My son is so juiced for this store because it's close enough to get to for him to ask for shoes more frequently lol. read more

Review #212 - 2018 After eating lunch at Hawking Bird, I was sure my son would want to check out some shoes at Shoe Palace so we walked across the street & were immediately greeted by an employee. This location is actually pretty big and has a good selection, according to my son... My son has had his eyes on a particular pair of Jordan so he knew exactly what he wanted before we even made our way over. He tried on two different pairs and decided to go with the white with black & red trimming. They weren't the exact color he wanted, but the color he wanted has been discontinued so he won't be able to find them in any store at this point. I didn't get the name of the employee who helped us. I just joined a gym so I needed new sneakers/running shoes. I decided to try this store because it's near where I live. Support local stores, right? I saw a great Nike sneaker, on sale, so I asked for it in a 9, as well as a Nike Air Max. The salesman seemed doubtful, but he said he'd look for them. I said "Anything in a 9 that's good for running." He came back empty handed. He said they only get one pair of 9's. Am I hearing right? Only one pair of anything (unless it's very small or very large) seems ridiculous. While I was waiting I looked up Yelp reviews for this store. ALL of the Shoe Palaces averaged 2 stars. When I showed the salesman that he said "you'd have to talk to the manager".....nah, I wouldn't bother. I'll just spend my money somewhere else. Stopped in here on Saturday with my husband & daughter. Upon entering I felt a weird vibe but decided to look around anyways. Our daughter wanted to try on some hello kitty apparel & the young girl who helped us was very accommodating (didn't catch her name) My husband is somewhat of a shoe fanatic & was looking around for matching shoes for both of us. Retro Jordan's to be exact. He asked for our sizes, however they brought 1 shoe & only 1 size. I have never in my life felt so rushed to decide if I wanted to make a purchase. We both felt like the employee's all had this predetermined notion that customers in this location were going to steal. I'm sorry but how does a shoe store operate like this? I felt like we were being watched like damn criminals the whole time. We couldn't even try our set of shoes on together!! We spent close to 500 dollars on 2 pairs of shoes and a child's outfit and to be honest I would never drop a dime at this establishment again. Long over due review... I've been taking shoes to Shoe Palace for 10 years now. I love this place. Comes through every time for my custom and weird shoe needs. I like my boots to make noise when I walk so he has added satisfying details for that. I also have a high arch, so I get my boots stretch here when I first get them. I tend to hang on to my favorite shoes ( clogs, boots) long past the due date and he adds little details to repair and extend the life of those ones I won't let go of. read more

He insisted that a 7 in mens is a 9 in womens, which it is not. I didn't argue. Then he only let me try on the right shoe because he said it's covid policy. What? Last but not least when I asked about trying on a Nike 77 he told me that they didn't have size 7 because 7 is a kids size. Today was such an amazing experience!!!! I was looking for some New Balances because I am going on a trip in a few days and needed some comfy shoes asap! I walked in and Fabi Garcia was the first one to greet me! He was very knowledgeable around new balances and was further able to assist me. Hung Nguyen and Robert Miller then came to assist me with other brands that may have been an interest to me! Hailey Conner had a very pleasant demeanor at the register and didnt hesistate to see if I need anything while checking out! This is by far the best experience I've had a shoe palace. Customer service means everything to me because I am a nurse! A travel nurse. And you never forget those who help you and are kind along the way. Pro: GREAT SHOE SELECTION! Oh my goodness. I almost cried seeing the different shoes they had available, even in my kids size. I was almost certain this would be my new shoe haven. MAJOR con: Sadly, this beautiful location will suffer if the "customer service" continues the way it is. When my boyfriend and I walked in a few weeks ago, no one greeted us. There were only about 4 other customers in the store and about 5 sales associates. Not one came up to my boyfriend and I as we fawned over the shoes. I stood in the same area for 2 minutes to see if anyone would come up to me because I wanted to buy a pair of shoes. No one did. So I went up to the sales desk. One of the cashiers looked up and she asked if I needed help. I'm not sure if I annoyed her with my request for assistance but the sales-customer relationship got better with her as the sale went on. I believe her name is Jeneyah? She became helpful, was funny and personable, and helped us complete the sale. She also recommended that I try on the pair of shoes I purchased to see if I would like how they looked on me. I tried them on, she went to the mirror with me and told me ways I could wear the shoe. I thought that was awesome so shout out to her for that. My boyfriend and I left happy with our "impulse buy". However, we realized we didn't want the shoes anymore and decided to take it back a week later. This was 12/14. We went in, still no one greeted us. We went to the desk to a man named Michael and told him we needed to do a return. He seemed very annoyed to do the return. He asked us why and we laughed, embarrassingly admitting it was an impulse buy. He didn't seem amused but asked the question once again. He went on to say, "What, you just don't like the shoe or something?" We responded with the same answer we gave him before. Still not amused. We were returning 2 pairs of shoes. He said that one of the pairs was dirty. We told him that the only time they were tried on was in the store and that's it. He then said "I can't take this, it's dirty. How about I make a deal? You can return these once they are clean and I'll refund the other pair right now." We didn't think that was a good deal at all. Actually, it seemed kind of shady. He looked at the shoes again and admitted that it might be dirty because of the cardboard in the shoe. Then he said "okay I'll do the return". I asked him why he questioned us before. At this time, more of his co-workers came around. I'm sure he liked that there was an audience because he got aggressive all of a sudden. He then said, "Nope. I'm only refunding one pair now." We were very confused and questioned his thinking. He did not like that. He pointed out that there was a piece of dog hair on the shoe. We told him that could've been from my clothing when trying on the shoe IN THE STORE. He said he's always there so he would've remembered us trying on the shoe in the store but he was definitely not there the day we purchased it. He then said "Take my deal or get out." We told him it wasn't fair that he kept changing his decisions and was not delivering good customer service. He then smashed my pair of shoes back in the box, ruining the paper in the box and the Jordan sticker, and said with his hands up "We're done, we're done, we're done." We asked to speak to someone else. He said "No, we're done here." We then asked for the manager's name. He told us her name. We then asked for the manager's work phone number or email. His other co-worker interjected and said "we can't give out personal numbers." NO FREAKING WAY. We said we knew that but the manager had to have an email of some sort or a work phone we could contact to speak to her directly about our experience. Michael said "call here tomorrow morning. That's it." We entered with smiles and a good attitude and left angry and disappointed. I'll admit, I got a bit angry but how is it that I came into a place with such a good attitude and left so upset? The lack of exemplary customer service on the part of the staff there. A re-training needs to be done ASAP. Michael should also be written up or at least spoken to about his behavior because we mentioned his name to another location and they seemed to know what we were talking about. I look forward to speaking with the store manager of the Telegraph location just so she is also aware of the situation. read more

Great shoes HORRIBLE customer service. I enjoyed taking my son here to buy shoes, but recently they have terrible customer service; unprofessional, rude, and immature. This location has a lot of young people working who don't follow up on orders, leave you on hold when you call and get an attitude when they're unprofessionalism is brought to their attention. I called about an order I placed two weeks ago and was told something different each time. So I called the Newark location and was told this location never placed the order, and in fact the shoe was still there! (Horrible customer service via phone at the Newark location too BTW). I called Oakland Shoe Palace back, was left on hold then hung up. I called back seven times and they would not accept my call. I waited and then called again and spoke with Sabrina, who claimed she was the manager and she got an attitude. Also, I went to the Emeryville location, and a girl working there told me I can look the number up myself and call about a shoe I was asking her about. She couldn't be bothered to do it. Yay a shoe store close to my house but no one in there seems to want to help me? I came in when there was only one other party who was trying to buy shoes and no one came up to me to ask if I needed help. 5 workers just standing around talking to each other. When I did ask for help they seemed reluctant especially when I asked if they had pink gazelles in black. They were just like yea I don't think so let me check and never got back to me with the answer. I do have small feet and I need kids size since the smallest women's size is too big for me but they didn't have the smaller sizes for kids. Today an employee called my mom for winning a pair of shadow 2.0's. My mom has an accent but speaks English well. She was confused because she entered multiple stores raffles and wondered which shoe palace was calling her. She tried clarifying whether or not the store calling was telegraph and the employee ignored her and asked whether or not she could come in that day. Upsides: Beautiful atmosphere and close proximity in Oakland. There's a major lack of mainstream sport shoe stores in this area, So I was really optimistic that this would work out for us. Instead I was mistaken and probably should've just gone to a large shopping mall. Downsides: extremely mediocre staff that bring you one shoe at a time (not one pair; I mean literally one shoe of the pair) is this due to grab and dash concerns? If so, that will give you an idea of what you're in for. The inventory on display looks abundant and diverse but they lack a diversity in sizes is very frustrating. Super loud music!! February 26, 2020 @ around 2:10ish pm. Horrible customer service. HORRIBLE. I came in with my mom to buy some shoes and not a single person greeted us. The tall ginger male worker or caucasian guy saw us and INSTANTLY headed to the back. Then the black young female ignored us when I said "excuse me. " My mom and i walked around in the Juniors side wondering if we were gonna be asked for anything or even get a greeting. Well we didn't get shit but a mugging face from the young black female worker who just passed beside us and into the back along with the other latino looking guy. Is that the work ethic shoe palace is going to have ? Either you guys have horrible service or your workers are full on judge mental. We needed to buy some shoes for a gift but obviously we walked away if we're just gonna get mugged and ignored. I lost all necessity of even asking for help by the looks they gave. It's pathetic how bad the workers here are becoming over the whole year i've been coming here. If this is the type of workers Shoe Palace is going to have than clearly i need to stop shopping from here and let more people know before they're faced with this type of neglect and disrespect. Rate is completely and solely based on customer service. Went in to return a backpack with the original tags, receipt, in brand new condition and within the 14 days of the return policy. The lady helping me out refused to take the backpack because it was missing the price although it still had the barcode and original tags. Wouldn't even let me exchange it or get store credit. I left & went to return it at another Shoe Palace store & had no hassle at all with the return and got my full refund. Tried this place out yesterday, and I had a great experience. Ended up buying one pair, a pair of sweet Stance socks for my girlfriend, and am probably going back again for another pair. Lots of staff, attentive but not pushy or smothering. Great selection, not a lot of guys' Pumas?! But otherwise seriously great selection. A little heavier towards Nike and Adidas. This is my first review for a store and it's not good.NEVER ORDER SHOES FROM SHOE PALACE! I order a pair of shoes for my sons basketball season and they never showed up. I checked the tracking number and it said they were delivered, so I called customer service which was very hard to get through I would get put on hold and never answered or if I called back someone would send me to voice mail. I finally get through and told them I never received the shoes I was then told that it takes 30 days for them to run an investigation for $150 pair of Jordan's now mind you I've order well over 200 pairs of shoes from this company and thought they were solid but after this situation I will never order or buy anything from SHOE PALACE. I can see why this place has bad reviews!! My complaint is simple, answer the phone! As a business owner I would be PISSED if I knew the people I pay think it's there decision to answer the phone or not! This is not up for debate! The phone is the last line of communication before a customers decided to shop elsewhere. Doesn't matter if you have a big release and "your tired of answering the phone" you don't get paid to have those thoughts! You get paid to follow protocol and bring money in! Period!
