Made an appointment back in February to get fitted for a made-to-measure tuxedo for my wedding - I only went in knowing I really wanted a shawl collar, and nothing else. Kay was super helpful in showing me samples and samples of potential fabrics (I picked a wool blend with some texture), and he helped me pick out the lining (not visible here but a burgundy paisley, the piping, if I wanted a monogram under the collar, the buttons, number of buttons). Also talked through the fit of the suit and so on. We scheduled a shirt fitting for a following day because the suit itself took about 2 hours. I also had two shirts made: this white shirt and a very pale blue shirt that featured a hidden button-down collar and dark mother-of-pearl colored buttons, both in a nice herringbone fabric. I really enjoyed working with Kay because he's funny and put me at ease (I am a lady so suit shops aren't exactly built for my body ha) and talked me through potential tailoring choices and gave his opinion, but let me do what I wanted. I'm going back to get more shirts and maybe some custom pants or a more casual blazer. I came because I saw on Yelp that other women had come here to get their suits, and I co-sign those recs. read more

This review is incredibly late, but I had really lovely service here. I brought in my wedding dress for alterations that I thought would be relatively simple (just making it smaller). Turns out, because of the shape of the dress (backless), getting it to fit me nicely was quite an endeavor that required some creativity and work by hand. Kiril was really patient with me, even on our third round of alterations, and didn't make me feel as if I was asking for too much. First, this review is long overdue, and as I don't leave reviews for stores often that should give you an idea of how highly I think of the guys over at Anatoly's. We had our wedding the summer of 2021 and started shopping for a tux a little later in the planning phase than what would be considered ideal, however when I got to my first appointment at Anatoly's, K assured me that him and his team would be able to do all the alterations that I needed to get the tuxedo fitting perfectly (and they did I might add). In all, I think I ended up doing 5 or 6 fittings / alterations for 2 tux shirts and one Tuxedo and I don't have a doubt in my mind that if I asked for more the guys at Anatoly's would have happily accommodated. K was dead-set on doing his damnedest to make sure I was satisfied, he gave plenty of guidance on what was classic vs traditional vs contemporary when it came to cuts, fits and colors and reassured that the overall goal was to end up with a I was happy with regardless of style. The environment didn't feel sales driven at all and, I felt like I left my first appointment with knowledge from K I could have taken somewhere else to apply to how to tailor the suite the way I wanted. Fortunately for the the team at Anatoly's, they are the hands-down best experience i have ever had with getting a custom tailored suit. I have gotten suites (and tailoring) from Nordstrom, Suit Supply and Bonobos so granted my point of reference is limited, however I know that for as long as I live in Oakland and Anatoly's is an option, they will be my first stop when I need suits or alterations. I scheduled a tailoring appointment for my suit, and didn't have a great experience here. The person I spoke with on the phone was friendly, the tailor I met with (Kay) was not. I had come in expecting to get some input and ideas from a tailor on what my suit needed - he repeatedly told me "It's your suit, you should know what you want." I understand he doesn't want to be liable for tailoring decisions that a customer makes, but it's a bit ridiculous as a professional to withhold your professional input and refuse to explain things. He was sarcastic, distracted (looking at his phone and speaking with coworkers in another language), and ultimately got impatient with me for continuing to ask questions 20 minutes into my scheduled 35 minute appointment. If you know exactly what you need, he is probably a great tailor to use. But if you're looking to have a conversation and receive help making informed decisions, or if you generally enjoy a friendly customer experience, I'd recommend using a tailor besides Kay.
