3.5stars, but rounded it to 4stars. I tried the bison burger and I really enjoyed it. The meat was a little "gamey" but it tasted fresh and it wasn't greasy. The bun was also really fresh since they make the their bread in-house. Huge plus from me and the family since bread is practically EVERYTHING. My husband tried the elk burger and said he didn't feel like it tasted anything different from a regular burger. The French fries weren't bad, they were heavy. They also have the option of steak fries if you ask for it, but I definitely think you get what you pay for with the regular fries. Their fry sauce is mediocre. It literally looks and tastes like it is just mayo and ketchup or something. One of the mini containers of the fry sauce I had looked like straight mayo that wasn't mixed well enough. My kids had mini Ben burgers, corn dogs and chicken tenders. They all devoured it so I'm just going to assume it was just THAT good to them. Last, but not least. Their shakes. We ordered 3 shakes: an Andes mint shake, a strawberry banana chocolate shake and a peanut butter and banana shake. My husband loved The Andes mint shake, I liked it, but it was a little too sweet for my liking. At times it also tasted like my Crest toothpaste so I couldn't eat it all. I'm very particular with my mint chocolate. The kids enjoyed the strawberry banana and chocolate shake. Basically a banana split shake. I had a small bite and I definitely would have ordered a bigger one to share with them. The peanut butter and banana shake was so good! My husband and I both loved it. We really liked that there were chunks of banana and it wasn't an artificial banana taste with just the right amount of peanut butter. We will definitely be back to try other things. I haven't been here in ages but I just moved to Roy to I thought I would finally try it agin. The service was good, most of them are teenagers but all of them seemed to be really nice and willing to answer my questions. I ordered a Big Ben with Bacon and a shake to go. The burger is massive, like truly massive. I was surprised with how heavy the burger was. I opened up the burger and find bacon weaved around each other to make sure every bite has bacon. I have never seen this done in any other burger place I have been to. The fries were fresh and crispy and the fry sauce is the freaking best. However, I was really disappointed when eating the burger. It had no taste whatsoever, and the bacon was undercooked and flimsy. I was hoping to like this place more, but I can find better tasting burgers at a lot of other places. Burger is 2 stars but the shake and fries are a solid 4. read more

Not very impressed. I remembered it being better 4 years ago when I last came. The service was fine but the food was not very good. Tasted like a frozen burger I could buy at the grocery store but with little flavor and just grilled. The fries were fine but also just tasted like the frozen bag type. Couldn't finish my meal. This is one of my husbands favorite places. I on the other hand thinks it's just ok. I've been eating here for 35 years and have tried almost everything on the menu at least once. Sometimes you just want their burger because you know what you are going to get, good or bad. If you live in Roy, you should already know about Burger bar. It is one of the more popular places for locals. Big Ben has a nice local bun and meat. I liked the fries better when they we less healthy and a little soggy with oil but that is probably not acceptable these days. read more

This was such an awesome lunch! It honestly felt like more of an even than just a meal. We saw it featured on Diners, Drive-In's and Dives, and decided to try it when I was in Utah visiting my brother. What a great decision! This place was sooooo good. The buns are home made. The onion rings are homemade. The fry sauce is homemade. The tomatoes are home grown. The shakes are so thick they stand up two inches above the cup. The Coke is sweet and has the perfect syrup mixture. Crushed ice!! We got the Double Big Ben with cheese, fried, onion rings, and a Caramel malt. Every bite was delicious. The bun was my favorite part. Soooo good. The gal I ordered from so nice and helpful. The girl who gave us our food gave us tons of fry sauce and napkins without even asking. There was tons of seating for while you wait to get your food. Tons of big shade trees around their massive parking area. Very clean. Not impressed. Ordered big ben with cheese, more like big bread and more bread. I did also order a grilled cheese with fried mushrooms. They only have white bread and more white slightly burnt bread. Burger Bar has been around a very long time and they were once aired on Triple D. Burger Bar is a very popular burger joint and the lines prove it. I'm not a huge fan after one visit. I think there's better options in Utah. But it is one of those places that must be done at least once. Overall, Burger Bar is just okay. Pros: -The burgers are cheap. Cost is around $7 and comes with fries. -Almost every type of burger is found here, including chicken & fish sandwiches. -They serve buffalo and elk, which is high in protein and low in fat. -Be on the lookout for their monthly exotics. This month is rabbit (I can't eat Thumper) and swordfish. Prior months, they served deer (oh dear!), lamb, camel, and the Mountain Man (combination of elk, venison, buffalo, antelope, and board). -The fries are amazing. They also have other types of fries, -Tons of desserts, but mostly milk shakes -Buns from Topper Bakery. Drove in daily from Ogden. -Food is served quick Cons: -Where's the beef? Their burgers are all bun, no beef. They're known as the "Home of the Big Ben". It's more like "Home of the Big Bun". The bun is so big that it over takes the taste of their small patties. -Only outside seating. It was over 100 degrees out here. Great selection with both tater gems and hand cut fries, onion rings (the BEST around), a variety of burgers, chicken, fish, BBQ, and monthly wild animal sandwiches. The buns are homemade type that are the best on the planet and are worth ordering something just to try. The sizes run from small children portions to the gluttonous Big Ben, Sea Ben, BBQ Ben, etc, and is an oversized sandwich paired with fries! If you are extremely hungry , you won't be after for quite awhile! The shakes, THEY ARE AMAZING, with multiple flavors and toppings!!!! People travel long distances, even other states, to have their shakes and onion rings! They have lines even in the dead of winter for their shakes! Best shakes, Burgers are huge and they have the best buns. Exotic meat of the month is awesome, the biggest problem with this place is that there's so many good things here there's not enough stomach space for their massive portions and fries with all burgers. I was a little confused by the multiple menus but then I figured out there was a "normal" sized menu and then the Ben menu for the larger burgers. Burger Bar is the most fun you'll have eating in Roy, which I realize isn't saying much but this is literally one of my favorite places. Period. To be completely honest, it's a pretty normal burger joint, but what sets it apart is it's awesome community vibe. It's always packed with locals, everyone is having fun. It's a perfect way to spend a summer evening, just chilling on their benches, reminiscing about that one time Burger Bar landed Roy on national television when Guy Fieri came to town to eat a ridiculously huge Big Ben (you can have as many patties as you want). It's been a fixture of the community forever, and it has good food to boot. Oh, and it does exotic meat of the month. Knocking a few star off because if you order water with a meal it's more expensive than if you order a large drink. Kind of a douchey practice if you ask me. I guess this is why Americans are bigger. You are forced to buy a sugary drink or pay more for you food. F-ing lame, burger bar. Both of us ordered the double cheese ben with gems. I decided to get a large water and my co worker ordered a large coke. His was 2 buck cheaper than mine. Why? He got a sugary drink and saved 2 bucks over mine. Terrible. Our experience at BB was unfortunately mediocre. We always want to support local businesses, especially those which are longstanding in the community, but the quality of our burgers was sorely lacking. We recognize that a fast food joint is a fast food joint whether it's a chain or a local business. In fact, if BB was a McDonald's, BK, or other chain restaurant, I'd probably be harsher in this review...well, okay, I probably wouldn't be writing this review but you get the picture. Anyway, the fries were delicious and seemed to be made fresh. If they weren't, they sure tasted like it and that's always a good thing. Regarding our burgers, there was far more bun than meat, and the buns were unappetizing--flat (almost like they'd been pressed), un-toasted and pale in color with unappealing texture and flavor. More substantially, the burger patty was practically swimming in whatever sauce (fry sauce?) is put on them. The meat was essentially a vessel for the sauce. Our assumption was that BB was doing a bit higher quality work than In-N-Out when it comes to burgers. If our recent experience is a representation of the whole, we assumed wrong. I would at least like to be able to say they are both doing good work but in slightly different ways, but if I'm honest, In-N-Out on Riverdale is better than BB in my experience. We're absolutely willing to give BB another chance, but their burger game needs to be upped for sure. read more

Been going to burger bar for years and have always loved it. I would caution against ever going within the last hour before they close. The quality suffers heavily compared to going any other time. We had shakes that were just regular ice cream with the mix-in at the bottom. When we were there the staff did seem a little snippy and very much in a rush. We've been driving upto Burger Bar for years from slc, for what used to be one of our favorite burgers. Last Saturday July 22nd we drove up to be really disappointed. The burger was way over cooked and dried out. Felt like I was eating a piece of cheese with special sauce on a bun, as the burger was less then half the size of the bun. The worst experience we have had in all the years we have traveled to Roy. We will probably give it another shot as anyone can have a bad day! I've only been here once but I loved the taste of their burger, fries and shakes. I'm giving 4 stars because the buns are thick and I'm not a fan of more bread over insides of a burger but I absolutely loved the fries and shakes. I'd go back just for those. I love the old fashioned feeling of going up to the window outside to order. There's plenty of parking behind the building which is nice as I've been to other businesses with the same setup (order from a window and grab your order to sit outside) and parking was hard to come by.
