Fun unique burger place with amazing shakes! The burgers (Big Ben's) are huge! Not tall - but a giant circumference. The buns are specially made for these big burgers. The burgers come standard with fry sauce on them. The fries weren't bad, just a little under seasoned. The whole customer experience is outside, you order at the window and then find one of the benches or flower boxes to sit on- no tables at all, so be prepared to be holding your food on your lap. Often long lines, but move fairly quickly. Did have to wait about ten minutes for our food, so not "fast food". Definitely worth trying this unique burger shop. read more

This is one of those famous Utah places that have been an establishment for a while. Simultaneously, Diners, Drive Ins, & Dives have visited, so we wanted to see what the hype was about. I've tried their grilled cheese, corn dog, and Big Ben. The grilled cheese and corn dog you can skip. They're very normal and there's nothing special about it. The Big Ben is a huge burger. I'll give it to Burger Bar - their portions are HUGE for the price you pay. Few people will probably finish their meal in one sitting. The quality of the burger is OK. I thought that for the price it was worth it, but it's not going to make me crave the burger over getting In N Out or something. What really draws me to this place is their Lime Rickey soda. I've also tried their cherry limeade. The drinks are seriously what makes this place worth going back to. It's either their tap or the amount of lime they put, but their drinks are extremely refreshing. I got their largest size and downed the drink within one sitting and that's a lot of soda. Figured I should update my review considering I wrote it in 2012--who let me have a Yelp back then, LOL! Burger Bar was at the top of our list of places to return when visiting family in greater Salt Lake, and it didn't disappoint, but I wasn't as over-the-moon for it as I was all those years ago. There's no denying that the food is good. These burgers are tasty, even the weird exotic meats...this time they had yak. My shake was also good, although I wish I had gotten one of the fruit flavors. I stuck with vanilla to be basic, but they're huge and I wish I had taken the chance to get blueberry or something, because they make them with fresh fruit. They called our number a total of three times. The first two times, we went up there and they either called it by mistake or it just still wasn't ready. Kind of annoying. Then, when we finally got everything, my mom's burger wasn't exactly what she'd ordered, and on top of that we had two extra burgers that we didn't even order at all, but did somehow pay for. Time to review a classic. First time here was in late 60's. Would come here on our bikes to buy penny candy. Grew up in Roy. This was our burger place in High School. Returning here now to have the classic Big Ben. Great thing is you decide how many patties you want. I was always comfortable with 3. Had. Buddy that had 8 patties once. And he finished it. This is a 1 star review due to the service I received during the COVID 19 pandemic. When handing my credit card to pay, the lady at the cashier chucked my card back at me. Not sure if this was due to me looking Asian. I did not appreciate that at all and never went back afterwards. I ordered fries, corn dog, cheeseburger and fry sauce and loved it and would have loved to try the meat of the month for the few years I lived here. I have been going to the Burger bar my entire life. As of recently I have not been there in the past 4 years, until today. I ordered a double cheese burger, onion rings, and a large lime Ricky. The double cheese burger was actually one patty cut in half and stacked to make it look like two patties, it was doused with mustard, and relish. The lime Ricky has so much grape flavoring that I could taste nothing else. The only reason why I gave it two stars was because the employees were extremely nice, friendly. Curious, and professional. Hamburger and fries combo - $5.99; Cheeseburger and fries combo - $6.99. Homemade bun totally overpowered the meat, which was about the thickness of a McD's regular hamburger. Fry sauce & lettuce made the burger "drippy." French fries were nice and crisp, but lacked flavor as well. Service: meals served to you in a box. Since it was our first trip, we didn't notice until we were in the car that there were no napkins nor catsup in the box. Used spares we had in our glove compartment. For fast food, this place is solid. My husband and I both ordered the Big Cheese Ben. The buns were really good. I'm not a fan of fast food, so I won't disparage the burger patty and the fries. I have lived in Roy since 1974 I attended Royal high and would come and eat and enjoy delicious Big Bens with my friends in the 80s. I haven't been to Burger Bar since then so last week I decided to take a couple friends for their birthday to Burger bar and I was not happy with the food . I purchased 3 big bens with fries. And 3 small shakes = $35.00. The hamburger was cold the buns were doughy and there was hardly any condiments, and I did not receive Reese's peanut butter cups in my shake. I called the next day to tell them about this and. Young employee that answered the phone told me that I should've brought the food back then and she couldn't help me. I was not able to bring it back I explained and it was not good it was lousy then the employee became defensive and said "how dare I talk rudely about the food because she works there and she makes the food and I offended her." She hung up the phone then removed the phone from the receiver, making it unable for me to call back. Fun drive in. It would be a super fun atmosphere if it weren't for the COVID precautions. Not sure how things are running now since we haven't been in a couple months. We've ordered elk, bison, and regular beef burgers, gems(tater tots), fries, and we always get a raspberry shake. Burgers were pretty good. Nothing super special about them they were basic drive in burgers. My husband complains that all he can taste is sauce but I didn't mind it. The raspberry shake is excellent. It's super creamy and very flavorful. The tots and fries are perfectly crispy and salty. Their meat if the month thing is pretty cool although it seems like they often have the same meat for more than a month. Maybe that's because of COVID? In a 4 hour period, we tried 4 different DDD locations, I was convinced that the long road to Roy (and the terrible Yelp reviews) were going to sour my experience at the ole burger bar. And in a turn of events... it was perhaps the best meal of the day. Burgers are not difficult to make. I have made them at home on numerous occasions. What is difficult, however is making a good bun and cooking some yummy sides. The buns were amazing. They were not the best buns I have ever had but it really provided such a wonderful home to the two patties in the double ben. Just enough pickles, fry sauce, onions, and cheese. And each bite was the perfect amount of dirty every burger should have. They have tater tots under an assumed name. If the tater tots are in the witness protection, I get it, call them whatever the hell you call them. But they aren't so just call them tater tots. They were delicious. Fries also good, don't know what they do different but they were seasoned well and were crispy and soft at the same time. Onion rings... or onion mess. Pass. Oily not crunchy, just onions with some battered poured on them. THE VERDICT: I just ended with the worst part of my meal. The o-rings. Everything else met or exceeded expectations... mainly exceeded. You are probably wondering how expensive this place was... 12 dollars for all of the above food. The burger fed two people and we had leftover fries and tots that were perfect for some taterfry nachos the next day.
