This is the kind of place you expect for a classic burger joint. The double Ben burger was awesome and way bigger than I had thought it would be (and the price was very reasonable) I would say this BEWARE they LOAD that thing with pickles, so if that's not your thing then take a second to ask for less or no pickles. There is always a line of people at the place, I would say that makes up for the lack of background music. And I wish that they had more tables to sit at (there were basically no tables). So be prepared to eat out of a truck bed or in your car if you'd like to sit around for a while All in all this place is awesome, you cannot go wrong here if you'd like burgers and I guarantee it's probably the cheapest around. read more

We are happy we checked out Burger Bar based on the recommendations from friends! We love the tradition and history of the location, menu, and great service which seem to be the foundation of this local landmark. When you see the styling and colors of the menus and building, it says, "don't mess with what works!" There is so much we loved about what we ate. We enjoyed it all, but let me tell you something, there are two things that stand out. First, you cannot beat fresh fruit milkshakes!! Yes, yes, and !! Second, the buns they use for their burgers and sandwiches are what makes the Burger Bar! No question. They are soft, tasty, yet the perfect amount of substance and chewiness. It is the bun that makes the burger. After a couple of weeks, my mind still remembers and craves those buns! There is a lot of history behind those buns and now I understand what that is. A walk up Old Fashioned Local Burger Joint. Going here brings back fun memories of all the burger joints growing up. *Note--- no indoor seating so make sure to plan ahead Service is so friendly and the food comes out really fast especially considering how many people are in line ordered food. Plus the food is piping hot when it comes out. The fries were great, the regular fries have a bit of batter with them and I loved the fry sauce. The Big Ben Burger was good, the homemade bun is chewy which I loved. However, overall, there wasn't any WoW factor to the burger. Just a decent old fashioned burger. The seasonal pumpkin shake was the other win! A lighter flavor than eating a pumpkin pie but still with all the spice and creaminess, I loved it! read more

So the Burger Bar is a Roy, Ut. local favorite. Not being from Roy, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. And was in town for my daughter's soccer game. Team stopped here after to celebrate their win. First there's no drive through or interior seating. There is usually a crowd outside. Some benches outside for eating. First impressions is that it was fun and local, good quality ingredients, and nice little things that make it what it is. Option for "old fashion" fries, double fried, fresh daily baked buns, Gems (Tater tots), fresh fruit shakes, tenderloin steak sandwich, etc. The burger is along the lines of Hires in SLC. Not overly stacked or huge but well blended ingredients and flavors. I added bacon for a charge and thought it was a very good burger. 4/5 My wife is the Gem lover and said they were great, very crispy. We substituted gems for fries. 5/5 Raspberry Shake was good too, the bite I had I thought the raspberries were frozen, but could be mistaken. 4/5 read more

Not sure what all the hype is about this place. To me it was just average. Burger was good but not great. Nice thing is that they include fries with each burger or sandwich. Fries are good but the burgers are very messy. What surprised me is that they charge if you want more than one fry sauce. This is a walk up, order, pay, and then wait to be called. They have very little seating and it is outside only. So it is pretty much buy and go or eat in your car. So, three stars as an average burger place. read more

This Review is for if you've never had Burger Bar: This is a tough review to write, and the locals are going to hate me for it. While my family and I eat at Burger Bar on a fairly consistent basis, it is 'good' but not 'great' and they are trading off of nostalgia as much as their menu board. But since the locals already love the place, let's help the folks that stumbled upon it or saw it on Triple-D. What is a "Big Ben"? It's a huge bun. Freakishly big. And really tasty. It houses 1, 2, 3, or even 4 patties of burger. They aren't magnificent patties but they are good. The patties are thin and not juicy, but they aren't dried out hockey pucks either. A "Double Ben" is more than enough for the average person. Keep in mind that with a single your bread to meat ratio is "team carb load." Do I have to order a "Big Ben"? No, but you probably should. The smaller burgers aren't as great. They DO offer a 'sea ben' (decent) and some things like chicken sandwiches (decent), a bbq pork (overly sweet) sandwich. I believe they even have a corn dog on the menu for that one, really picky kid that you hate to take out to eat. Leave that kid home next time. What is the "meat of the month"? They bring in some exotic meat patties, frozen, and serve them up. Gimmicky? Sure. Good? I've only tried a couple and regret it each time I do. Unless they bring in something REALLY crazy like bald eagle or skunk, I am shying away. What is really good here? If you like onion rings, nobody does them better. IMO, the best thing on the menu. Their tots and fries are a solid 2nd and 3rd place but basically the sides are what stand out for anyone that likes good fries. Also, the shakes. The shakes are magnificent and over the top. You WILL drip these down your hand while eating. Choose your ice cream and mix in's wisely. There are many, many options and they are all good. So, long story short, should you eat here? Yes, definitely. But temper expectations. It will be good food and memorable, but probably won't make your Top 10 list of anything. read more

Burger bar was super cool and I am glad we drove up north of SLC to check it out in Roy, Utah. Right away I knew we found something, because it was busy at an off-time of the day. I would describe it as part burger stand and part dessert shop. Prices were far more 1970 than 2023, and that is totally cool with me. I had an elk burger with fries, and a few of my friend's had milkshakes and said they were fantastic. The rolls are made in house and they use a special fry sauce on all burgers. Fries were decent, and the cook time was pretty good - if not a few minutes long. Not much seating so be ready to eat in your car. Wowzers! Let me preface this with I have always wanted to try it but I don't care for the long lines and busy busy waiting area, but hubby and I recently moved just a few miles away from the Burger Bar and decided that we had to try it finally. Pro tip go late after 7pm on a Monday night it's not so busy. Second thing to note is if you don't have a huge appetite don't get your own meal LOL. Hubby and I each got a regular Cheese Ben with onion rings and the food was more than either one of us could eat. Taste was on point! and for me the surprising Joy was there are no tomatoes on their burger so I didn't have to pick them off. Oh and the bun.... I don't know what the secret is but it's very tasty and super soft. The onion rings were delectable and the portion is as big as your head, the fry sauce is on point as well. Last but not least the shake was darn good! Sorry no pics as we devoured our food in the dark sitting in our pickup both equally amazed at this wonderful treat for a street corner walk-up burger joint, Guy Fieri was right, this is a "do not miss this" burger joint. 10 out of 10!! I have eating here since the early 70's when my parents would take me as a toddler. It has always been consistently amazing, from the food to the shakes. I absolutely disagree that they should have seating or expand... There is no way they would be able to serve the amount of people that patronize this place if there were seating. It's perfect the way it is, just as it has always been. If you want a perfect burger, go to the Burger Bar. If you want some other type of experience, go somewhere else. I grew up in utah. When I was 13 in the 60s. I had my first experience of a big ben with fries. I think it cost about 65 cents. My cousin and I each had a big ben. Huge patty, bun with everything on it. It was great. I have noticed over the years the patty seen to have decreased in thickness. The size has gotten smaller. Over all. This place is a MUST! Every time I come from Albuquerque to visit my brother I have to stop here for a burger and shake! This is an order and pickup spot, no dine in which I love! This local fave gets a thumbs up from me! After visiting nearby antelope island to see bison up close, the fam and I were seriously craving bison. On my Yelp search was this spot that has been standing for 85 years strong, and I knew it would be a solid choice to try some Buffalo and elk burgers. The demand was high during the Saturday lunch hours but the wait wasn't too bad. On top of the burgers with large fries ($8.79), we got their brownie malt ($4.29 for a medium) and their cookies and cream shake ($4.89 for a large). The burger buns were a little undercooked, the bison meat was juicy, and the elk meat was a little dry. The fries were solid though, as was the shake and the malt. Maybe if they had toasted/cooked the bun for a few more minutes, I would've enjoyed it more. But it was nice to try :) read more

Hands down the best burger joint in Utah! They have this little thing called a Lime Ricky it is the most refreshing beverage around. I got a Big Ben with onion rings and these yummy little deep fried mushrooms too. I had first found this place while living in Roy. I am here to tell you the hamburger buns are deliciously soft. I don't know where they get them but gosh they are good. Took the boyfriend here on the way out of town. He also really enjoyed his meal. Don't be intimidated by the long lines. You can wait in your car and they call out your order number and trust me they have this down to a science. They will have your hot meal out to you within a very reasonable amount of time. Sadly now I live in Herriman which is a drive to get my favorite burger but so worth it. Honestly I can't wait till my lease is up this February so We can move to Bountiful. I ordered the Big Ben, it was a typical hamburger with a large bun fries sauce, lettuce onions tomato... Flavor was OK. The fries were good. Had to go up to Roy today and decided to try burger bar for the first time this year! Good news it has not changed... They still have the best onion rings and french fries in Utah. If you love a burger with fresh baked rolls and locally sourced Tomatoes this is your place. Some people may say that there's too much bun but if you enjoy a great fresh burger, you can't beat this place. My wife and I split a Big Ben with cheese and tomato.(tomato is extra) and onion rings which was more than enough for the two of us. A lot of hype from Guy Fieri (sp) re this spot, but it fell short in my opinion. If you do not have an In n Out close then it is a go, but the burgers , while a good variety, did not surpass that chain. Kudos to a mom and pop establishment surviving in these times of Covid etc.. My party ordered the steak burger, one of us the bison burger (the two did not taste any different from the regular burger). Was this a mix up? I doubt it as it was carefully repeated to us. The old fashioned fries were good but not stellar. What was stellar were the milkshakes. They were probably the creamiest I have ever had and full of fresh fruit like the strawberry banana. The food really doesn't look very exciting but it was delicious. I went with the Big Ben with cheese which has lettuce, pickles and fry sauce. I also had fries a a cherry limeade which was like a cherry sprite. The bun has almost a hoagie roll texture and it complimented the burger well. The fries were good, basic fries. I enjoyed sitting outside and there were plenty of places to sit so I didn't feel like anyone was waiting for my spot. The employees were friendly and the order was prepared quickly. The freshness; the taste and texture of everything is by far amazing. The customer service is the best in town; they remember your name and what you order, that's the best part for me. 5 stars to the double cheese ben. This burger comes with delicious fries, but you can switch it to sweet potato fries (winter only) or tasty fried mushrooms for a slight charge. The double cheese Ben is always the perfect ratio of meat, to giant bun, to sauce. I love it! I honestly never order anything else even though they have tasty looking fish sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, and even the exotic meat of the month (think rabbit, lamb, shark, elk, etc). With that said, the regular Ben is just not enough meat to bun for me. If I was only reviewing that item, this place might only get 4 stars. This place has a little outdoor seating, but we always plan to take it to go. In the summers the lines get insane, so either plan accordingly or grab a jacket on a cooler day to have a quick wait. read more

Another hit from our list of DDD restaurants to visit. Guy Fieri has some foods ones from Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. This is located in Roy, a northern suburb of Salt Lake City. Not too far off the highway, and on our way to Ogden Do yourself a favor and try their Big Ben burger with double fried fries and a milkshake. Who cares about carbs and calories when this is a ski trip. Hubby could barely eat his entire Double Cheese Ben but really loved it. I wolfed down my Big Ben Burger and we shared the double fried fries. Milkshakes: one peanut butter and one raspberry. We both agreed that the peanut butter was the best. Walk up to the window (wear your face mask) and order your food. Wait for your number to be called. Walk up to the pick up window to get your food. Eat on the outdoor patio or inside your vehicle. There's something to be said about a good, well-seasoned, simple burger and by all accounts, we thought Burger Bar would deliver on this. We ordered two big bens with cheese and we substituted tots for one of the fries. For our drinks, we tried shakes - oreo and brownie. We visited Burger Bar right during the lunch rush and despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the place was very busy. Most of the staff taking orders were not wearing masks and many of the patrons were also maskless, which surprised me. They did ask that only one person approach the counter to order but that sign wasn't visible until you got to the counter, which defeated the point. After waiting for about 20 minutes, our order was ready. The burgers had weight to them and they looked big in the box. When we arrived home and unwrapped then, we discovered that there was no cheese on either of them and the patty looked like it was completely overwhelmed by the bread. I took a bite into the burger and it tasted so dry and bready that I ended up removing half of the bun and adding ketchup. I ordered mine without the fry sauce as I don't care for mayonnaise or soggy bread and I saw on our other burger that they lay that sauce, which didn't have much taste, on heavy. The meat wasn't very flavorful or juicy and the lettuce and pickle weren't really enough to add flavor. This burger needed salt, pepper, perhaps some onions and tomatoes...and a bun that actually fits the meat. The cheese that they forgot probably also would've helped with the taste of the burger. On a good note, the ordering process was efficient, their homemade bun was delicious but much too big for the small meat patty (see pics), the fries and tots were crispy and quite good, and the shakes - made with Farr's ice cream - were thick and tasty. They have many options for shake mix-ins but it wasn't clear by the sign whether we could combine toppings or what the cost was for multiple toppings. Looking at other reviews it appears that you can combine them. Overall, this was a good lunch but probably not a place we'll be frequenting. For a simple burger I think I'm more of a fan of In and Out and Shake Shack, and places that require staff and patrons to wear masks to stop the spread of Covid. read more

Got fried mushroom, small cheese burger a big ben burger and onion rings! Ate 2 mushrooms, the breading is nasty, not good and threw them away, the burger patty was so thin about 1/16 inch threw top part of bun away and folded bottom bun in half for a not to bad of a burger! Big ben was the same! The Onion rings were half rings, no rings at all! Those were ok! The place was clean, you have to eat in car !
