Great ambiance- perfect for date night. I like the outdoor seating, especially when it's a little chilly and they have the fires going. I enjoy coming here and always leave full and happy but overall I'm knocking one star because the menu is not nearly as good as its sister restaurant, ATX Cocina. read more

This place gets a 5 star because it was damn near perfect. Puerco is what I ordered and it was amazing. First of all the atmosphere was great. Great lighting, beautiful set up. The kitchen is open but it isn't tacky. You order the sides and they are shareables. GET THE CORN!! Trust me on this one. The drinks were okay, not great but okay. And the service was top notch. Straight class and very educated on the menus If you are grabbing dessert their version of Tres Leches is legit. I'll be going back. I genuinely loved this place. read more

ATX Cocina is my favorite restaurant in Austin, and this place is next on my list. The quality of ingredients of each plate and ambiance are amazing. I love this vibe and the live music on Thursday is AMAZING. Luis is so talented! I highly recommend any of their appetizers and their drinks! read more

My friend and I sat outside on the patio, and the view is super pretty. We ordered things off of the brunch menu and also a ceviche to share. The food was all great. The brunch Cocktail menu is not all alcoholic, so just be ware. We had assumed just because it said cocktail and not "non alcoholic" or "mocktail" we thought it was an alcoholic. drink...lol . We ended up getting another drink that was alcoholic, we just were not a fan of any of the drinks. Wish I remembered the name, but it was a coldbrew off of the brunch menu, turned out to be nonalcoholic, and a drink our waitress suggested was on our dessert menu, but it straight up just tastes like liquor. read more

2nd visit to this amazing restaurant. This was a birthday celebration. Gregory was our waiter and provided fantastic, attentive service. If you haven't tried Bulevar, it is a MUST. Duck carnitas - perfection and our fav on the menu. All is gluten free (but you would never guess). Gregory's attention to detail stands out. Brought tortillas when he noticed the b'day girl trying to enjoy/mop up all the sauce on the king prawns plate! Complimentary champagne. Birthday ice cream and cookie. The churros are hot and crispy served with chocolate and dulce de leche sauces. I commented on the DELISH dulce de leche - Gregory recommended it for morning coffee and delivered a container of it to go for MY morning coffee!! Also enjoyed the ahi tostadas, crab tostadas, both tacos (sirloin and pork belly/chicken), and shishitos. Fresh and everything so flavorful. Had a visit from the manager who gave b'day wishes and a b'day card signed by staff. It's the little things, people! We will be back again and again. read more

We've been visiting Bulevar for several years and have always loved it. The food has consistently been excellent, and we've never had a bad experience--until our recent visit. This time, something felt different. The food, which is usually the highlight, was just mediocre. The steak was overwhelmed by an excess of sauce, and the hamachi--which used to be beautifully sliced with habanero--was instead cut into chunks and overly sweet. It felt like a step down taste wise.....not sure if they got a new chef or what? This visit was for my husband's birthday, and while we knew to expect a high bill, we were disappointed that nothing was done for the celebration. On previous occasions, the restaurant has acknowledged celebrations with a dessert or a small gesture, but there was none of that this time. On a positive note, the service was good. Jesus, our server, was attentive and did his best despite being very busy with multiple tables. We appreciated his efforts. Overall, this visit left us feeling let down. We hope it was just an off night, but talking to other friends they stated they had similar experience with taste of the food in their recent visits. read more

The food at Bulevar is solid. My favorite dish was the Campechana. The chips were the ideal vessel for the perfect bite. It could have used a little bit more spice, but no complaints here. The huarache had so many layers of flavor and the duck was so tender and flavorful. Definitely my second favorite dish. The sugar cane prawns were an interesting dish. Not my favorite, but it was not bad. I absolutely love short ribs and I order them everywhere. I have to say the short ribs at Bulevar are probably the most underwhelming ones I've ever had. The blistered shishitos were quite forgettable. It was way too much food for two people and we should have at least skipped the side. Service was decent, but our waitress was very serious and dry. The ambiance makes it the perfect place for a date. We sat at the enclosed patio, but once the weather is cooler I'd love to sit outdoors and enjoy the gorgeous view. read more

What an absolute DELIGHT. This is a belated review from over a week ago when we dined here with another couple. We had never even heard of Bulevar and only discovered it when researching places between us and them. Two complaints and then everything is almost entirely positive: 1) The parking lot sucks because the spaces are tiny and a bunch of jerks with luxury cars and (probably, male fragility) feel a need to take up two spots. 2) The acoustics are terrible. SO loud. We even asked to switch tables from the middle of the restaurant to a side table where we thought it would be quieter (it was). And they moved us with no incidence, which leads us to... ...service, which was par excellence. No issue switching, no issue seating us while our friends were parking, and because our waitress was slammed, the manager came over to help get a drink order and greet us. That level of attention used to be de rigeur, but you don't see it as much anymore, and we really appreciated being reminded of how well a restaurant can function when it actually tries. The pacing of the dishes was also good, and our table was checked on without being suffocated. A+. Drinks: they are wonderfully strong! The spicy frozen marg was a bit too spicy for one us but the regular one was just right. The rest of the cocktails our table ordered were also well-crafted. For apps, we got the trio of salsas, all delicious. And the chips have so much structural integrity! Amazing. The lechuga salad was crispy and salty perfection, and we enjoyed the avocado/peppers one, but it wasn't as interesting. The machete was such a surprise flavor bomb: we all loved it. For mains, we shared the carne asada and mole duck enmoladas. Insert 100 mind-blown emojis here!!!! To.Die.For. The textures, the ingredient combinations, all of it. We could not even believe how good it all was. For dessert, the churros were standard, but no complaints. We also think we got some kind of chocolate cake thing but can't quite remember so it's a testament to how much the savory items were the All told, this is one of the better meals that we have had in Austin in a long time. We are so excited to come back again--it was busy so we guess the secret is out but we hope our (almost) five star experience will be repeated. read more

This may be obvious, but don't come here if you have an appetite and a normal budget. A friendly waiter introduced the menu to us, and we sat down in a cold restaurant, right in front of the door. Thankfully, a manager was able to turn on the fireplace for us, and the restaurant had a comforting vibe. To stay cheap of a party of five, we ordered 3 Crispy Birria Tacos, a Wood Roasted Bone Marrow, and Esquite for us all. The tacos looked delicious and had a crunchy and tasty shell but the meat was almost flavorless and a lot of it was basically liquified and jelly. We're all for fat, but that didn't seem right. I also forgot they even had cheese. The bone marrow arrived on a beautiful plate, and had a side of sope. The bone marrow was undercooked but generally good, but the sope was disappointing. Sope does not come with sesame seeds, especially not overloaded in them. The spices on this plate were also overshadowed by too much cumin. The esquite was also very disappointing. I think a bowl of untouched canned corn would have tasted better. We couldn't taste lime, barely saw much queso fresco, and the corn had no flavor because too much of it was charred and overpowered the plate. The sauce had no chance of shining in this plate as well. To top it all off, later that night, we all agreed that we felt nauseous with stomach aches and feeling tired. At least the waiter accepted our criticism. read more

My wife and I decided to go sit at the bar at Bulevar as the finish out is really nice and it's a great place to eat and watch sports on the flatscreen. The food has been consistently good with the 5 to 6 prior visits that we've had there.. However last night, we spoke to the bartender about our order and made it very clear that my wife couldn't have anything spicy. (It's due to a medical Condition, not just a taste preference). They delivered our carne asada with chipotle butter sauce on it and it was too spicy. Rather than just get the dish replaced, I saw him walk over to the side of the bar and discuss the situation for the manager. The minute the manager reluctantly walked over to me, and I explained the situation and he replaced the dish. But the bartender had a sour attitude towards us for the rest of the evening, didn't ask us for any other drinks and just avoided us. they did replace the dish, but they didn't give us fresh side so everything was cold.. Anyway, the take away is, if one of your employees is having a bad night they shouldn't take it out on the customers. We did not feel welcome there and will probably not be coming back there in the near future. It's a shame because it could've been handled in a very non-confrontational way. Our neighboring customers all agreed and saw the situation. read more

Bulevar Mexican Kitchen - Mexican Near Me - Austin, Texas

The food is definitely several uplevels up from most everything in the area and absolutely delicious execution of Interior Mexican. I was also incredibly happy with finding one of the few places I can order a margarita straight off the menu and being pleased knowing I can taste the tequila and the fresh squeezed lime juice in it without that horrible sour mix so many use! The only reason it isn't five stars is because they never seem fully staffed. If you have a great happy hour (which they do), perhaps more than 1 bartender who isn't pulling his hair out might be a good suggestion. We could barely get a pre-batched drink at the bar! Management definitely needs to make sure this area stays staffed because if it takes 30 minutes for folks to get a drink at their table at an upscale place, they will simply find somewhere else to go and that would be a shame. read more

Holy smokes. This place is insanely delicious!! It rivals some of the best food I've ever had. Went with a friend this past Tuesday, and it was pretty busy and was glad we had made a reservation! Our server was fantastic and basically recommended the whole menu which I always think is a good sign! The duck carnitas were my favorite thing, but the crab tostada was delicious as well! Everything was, really! I had a spicy margarita and OMG it was so good that now all other margaritas are trash in comparison! I can't wait to go back with my husband because he didn't believe it was as good as I said UNTIL he tried some of the leftovers I brought home the next day. He hates leftovers but I encouraged him to eat some when he was debating what to eat for lunch. His actual quote mid-mouthful was, "Babe, I will never doubt you again and you are officially always right." Bulevar for the win. So ladies go to Bulevar if for no other reason than that! (But really, go for the food, drinks, ambiance and service. This place is the bomb!) read more

Bulevar is an absolutely stunning spot for dinner or happy hours in the Arboretum. Perched atop a hill looking out over the hill country, their patio and outdoor dining spaces are absolutely some of the best in town! The restaurant itself is modern, open and uniquely designed with a subtle traditional Mexican flair! I recently visited Bulevar with some family on a trip to Austin- we were looking for a nice patio for dinner since the weather was so wonderful, and let me say, Bulevar did not disappoint! The patio was covered with a portion overlooking the hill country and another cozy covered space with a large fireplace and wonderful views. We started out with a few cocktails- I ordered the Dime-Rita, their top shelf margarita option and I was absolutely floored! Not only was it the best margarita I'd ever had, but it really took the whole concept up a few notches! While it was a quintessential margarita at heart, it tasted more like a very high end cocktail, with complexities you rarely experience with a margarita! I would highly recommend trying! We ordered a number of items for the table including the guacamole and salsa tasting flight, both of which were delicious! For our main dishes we ordered the Plancha Salmon which was perfectly cooked, tender and melt in your mouth! My fiancé ordered the Bone In Ribeye and he said it was the best dish he had our entire trip! It was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful! Bulevar really does take their food seriously and you can absolutely tell! We will definitely be returning, I can't wait to go back to Austin just for Bulevar! read more

Everything was amazing... The customer service, the ambiance, the food, the drinks, we enjoyed it all. We arrived for our reservation on time and was seated immediately. We didn't have any issue with parking or checking in for our reservation. The restaurant is very upscale, great place for date night and special occasions. Shortly after being seated we were greeted by our waiter Gregory. Gregory was amazing from start to finish. He was doing his job so well, we got excited every time he came walking towards the table lol. ｡‿｡ For dinner I ordered the lamb chops and my date ordered the 28oz New York Strip steak. The food was delectable, very well seasoned, and perfectly cooked to order. I literally don't have a bad thing to say about this place. The staff was friendly and attentive and the food and service was worth every penny. We will definitely be returning in the near future (｡‿｡) read more

Always a friendly and knowledgeable team of servers to help you. The establishment is truly a beautiful place. Sometimes the ever changing menu may delight or disappoint you especially when the house frozen margaritas were eliminated from the menu! My favorite! Boo hoo! read more

no hate to the chef, we just watched the menu so we get artistic expression and elevating ur food but nah this ain't it. t: - i love elote. this is not elote. this was canned corn with an overbearing amount of lime. i want cheese on that hoe! i want mayo! where is the culture - the scallops weren't bad, the sear could've been better for $40 like -the sope was the worst. the shell was too thick and the meat lacked any flavor tbh. h: - the phone ate but i didn't. we only ordered 3 items to start but all three items were misses so we knew this just wasn't it. our table was not attended to until after 10 minutes went by, i get it, it happens. food lacked layers in flavor and was boring. scallops has a good flavor but the sauce begins to take over after a couple of bites and becomes boring. you can't make elotes fancy just by adding in a ton of lime. the sope was thick and overbearing, trompo was tough and the flavors weren't cohesive. maybe we just ordered the wrong things ‍ read more

I have to downgrade my rating due to my most recent experience at Bulevar. My dad drove in from Houston and our experience was so good in December so we booked a last minute reservation for 7:30 on the patio on Monday April 3. We were seated at a table behind the fireplace, meaning we didnt have the full view, even though there were empty tables closer to the balcony. Not a huge deal. But, the outdoor tv's were not working while the final was on for March Madness. Kind of disappointing. It started out fine, the tuna tostada and trio of salsas was very good. Both came out in a reasonable time and were tasty. Both were unique, smoky dishes. Then we were waiting for our entrees. And waiting. And waiting... by this point it's getting to be 9:00. Finally the food shows up. While my vendido (venison) was cooked well and had good flavor, it was ice cold. My dad's churrasco was completely raw on the inside. And I just wanted mine heated up a bit. So of course we called the manager over because how can you even serve a raw steak when we asked for it medium rare. He apologized profusely, said he didnt want us to pay for the entrees and offered to make it right within 12 minutes. Well, the steak ended up having bacon on the side so that was no longer an option since we cant eat pork. So they swapped the steak for scallops, which cook quickly. As we were waiting, the manager brought a salad which was nice. The scallops were good. But the second attempt of my venison was worse. It was now undercooked and still cold. Mind you, the food did take longer than 12 minutes which is fine, but he shouldn't have told us 12 minutes. The manager hand delivered the food and said he'd be back to check. He never came back... I told the waiter I was done and lost my appetite, no more entrees. Just bring us some churros please and we'll be on our way. The churros were on point. However, we had to pay for them. The manager did comp most of the meal before we left, but I really do expect better customer service and food from Bulevar. I hope our next visit will be better. Maybe it was just an off night, but that's not an excuse. read more

Took friends from out of town to give them a good experience and was extremely disappointed. Table was no ready at our reservation time and there were absolutely no seats at the bar or waiting area. Service was unacceptably slow and we were not informed of that upfront or else we would have gone elsewhere. The server did not tell us until we ordered that it would be an hour wait after he input the order, which was very deceptive. Even after we finished many hours later, our dirty plates just sat on the table forever for someone to come bus the table. Then the check took even longer. When the bill arrived, they overcharged us for items we didn't even order. From beginning to end it was just a horrible experience. For being a ridiculously bad service experience, no manager or anyone can by the table to explain or apologize or anything. For $600 for 4 people, there are so many better places in Austin. Horrible experience. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

My wife and I came for our anniversary. Food, atmosphere, staff and drinks all amazing!!

This is a place with multiple personalities. First, awesome job on remodeling the old Z Tejas into this cool restaurant- very nice. However, wow - it is loud - echoing - and raucous. That is ok though , as it it the atmosphere and it works fine. We went on a Saturday night and has reservations. It took a while for our drinks and water to come out - but nothing too bad...yet. Appetizers were good - Duck Carnita was tasty - salsa tasting was good although at 10 dollars, a bit pricey for what it was. The green salsa excellent and fresh, pink was spicy and good as well, red was bland and flavorless. This is where it gets bad - it took an hour and a half for us to get our entrees. Needless to say this kitchen has major issues. We almost left a couple of times but were so hungry and knew other places would be hard to get into. You think the manager , who was walking by, would address this - or offer a complimentary cocktail during this excruciating wait - but no. So food comes - the pork rib carnita things with the tortillas were dry and cold....just nasty!! The fish seemed like it was heatlamped or reheated, but good enough - hot and tasted good. The brussel sprouts were interesting - tasty amd unique - but luke warm. We sent pork back for another dish that was very good- came out faster and was tasty, although not what we wanted. We wanted dessert - and glad we did - it came out fairly quick and was the best Churros we have ever had - except maybe one time in Playa Del Carmen....juat crazy good. All in all hit and miss. Our waitress was nice and efficient. The kitchen and operations of this place need improvement. Some good dishes, some not so good, but a 3 hour dinner is unaccpetable for the type of food they are serving....with a price well over 200 ( after tip) for 2 people with one cocktail each. Needs improvment- but has potential. Three stars - for food - subtract a star for thr dining experience and wait - add it back in for the waitress who was so nice amd apologetic for the sad state of kitchen operations in this place. Three stars is being kind - as it was not a nice great date night experience. read more

I happened to be in the Domain area for work, and set up a dinner for colleagues at Bulevar. We were all completely blown away by how excellent this restaurant is. Service was good, knowledgable, very efficient, but not too chatty or bothersome. I didn't have a cocktail, but those who did said the tequila menu was extensive and interesting. Instead of each person ordering a meal, we went with a variety of dishes to share. Each dish was surprisingly good. Like street corn, but elevated and so flavorful. The swordfish was excellent; the carne asada might be the best beef I have ever had. The interior was decorated nicely; I'd call it upscale comfort. Not stuffy at all, just polished.
