Carlos you did not color match the paint. Your employee told me she bought a paint with the same name as the one I bought from Sherwin and not Home Depot. She showed me the can and it was not a color match can because it had the color name on it. It's foolish to think I've never color matched paint or know what the cans look like. They start with a neutral base and that's what the can shows on the outside. Then the machine adds the paint colors to make the match. Also as you are aware, the paint I bought was new and the walls weren't even fully painted yet as I had just moved in when the water damage occurred. Why do you change facts? And if your employees were properly instructed and supervise this wouldn't have happened. I told her it didn't match and I wasn't sure about the color, but she proceeded to paint the entire room anyway. We already discussed the situation with the hot water hook up to the washer. As you are aware the movers brought it back and hooked up the lines after the vanity was installed and work was done. They don't test the appliances. The movers had assumed as I would have that they were already turned on. They do not troubleshoot plumbing. Why would the cold water be on and not the hot? Turning on all the water valves was something that was supposed to done after the vanity was reinstalled. I spent additional money due to this oversight. I began receiving an error code when I ran warm water washes and Miele said to have a repair person come out. The repair person said water wasn't coming in and they assume there was an issue with the line so a plumber had to be called. Thankfully, after they couldn't find anything wrong, they decided to check under the sink and found the hot water was off. I offered to call the original contractor about the sliding door track but you said I didn't need to. Then you proceeded to sell me a different system without even coming back to measure the space. Folding doors or purchase at Home Depot and included the track and parts. instead of telling me they were sold as a kit you said you saw the doors at Home Depot and that I needed to replace the doors and track because they were old. However, they were installed in 2022. There is more I could say but this is enough. The damage is done. The lack of professionalism from you regarding the issues and the lack of honesty in your response should be a concern to anyone looking for a contractor read more

I can't recommend Built Right more highly. I bought my first home in September and decided to do a kitchen renovation before I moved in, not really understanding what I was getting myself into. The house also had some extensive termite damage that I needed to get remediated. I called in several contractors to make bids. Built Right was the only company that had consistent follow through on communication, which was an indicator of their professionalism. I decided to go with them and their professionalism continued throughout the project. Chuck managed my project beautifully. Even when there was a snafu with the countertops (out of their control) they were very transparent about what was going on and did everything in their power to make it right. Carlos, the owner, came by personally to explain the issue to me and how they were going to handle it. Despite the snafu, they finished within the time frame Chuck estimated at the beginning of the project. They worked extra hours to make sure I had a working kitchen before the Thanksgiving holiday. They paid very close attention to detail and made sure all loose ends were tied off without me having to follow up with them about any of it. I really can't think of anything to critique them on. They were working under difficult circumstances, obviously, with Covid and with me moving into the house (and working from home) three weeks before the renovation was complete. All the workers were so pleasant, professional and respectful. It was actually kind of nice to have them around despite having to work through Covid protocols.  I am so grateful to have found Built Right as I have heard horror stories about other contractors. We hired Built Right to renovate our master bathroom after a hidden leak sent water cascading through the ceiling of the room below. Built Right was one of four companies we had come out, and we went with them because: 1. Their quote was competitive. 2. Their pricing and bidding process was transparent. Their bid had a long list of all the steps and items to be completed whereas the other companies just gave a single number for the whole project. 3. They asked great questions during the first walk-through and made good suggestions for things we might want that we hadn't thought about yet. They did great work, taking the room down to the studs, ripping up two old floors, and then rebuilding it completely with tile for the shower and floor, new framing around the window, new lights, and with an added exhaust. Through the whole process Built Right was great at communicating. As with every project, you discover things when you open the walls that force you to change your plans, and our renovation was no exception. Built Right would walk us through what they found and the possible options for fixing it. Their work was completed on time and looks great. Short: Great team, great crew. Thorough, thoughtful, responsive, reasonable, and skilled. They did a great job on our bathroom repair and remodel, despite short notice and having to squeeze us into an already busy schedule. I know how hard it is to find a contractor you're legitimately HAPPY with. This is that contractor. Long: Our shower pipes (behind the wall) in our condo apparently had been leaking for some time, and the downstairs neighbors' ceilings were getting destroyed. We needed to get the work done fast but right; we'd just bought a house, and were tying to put the condo on the market. I asked my colleagues for a contractor referral, and they RAVED about Carlos and Chuck at Built Right, whom they had used for a major house remodeling. They'd heard about Built Right from their friends, who'd also used them for a major home remodel. Despite the short notice, given the circumstances, Carlos scheduled us in and got a team in to gut our bathroom, find the leak, and replace the corroded pipes. From there, they put in a new shower/tub, floor tiles, and shower tiles, and repainted the vanity and bathroom walls. Our once dated bathroom now looks great! This was our first time embarking on a project like this; Carlos and team were hands on and guided us through the process. They met us at Lowe's and helped us pick out the floor and wall tiles and grouts. If you know what you're doing, you can pick up all of the materials yourself. But if you need a hand, Built Right goes the extra mile to make sure the project is working for you, and isn't bottlenecked by a bunch of errands you might not have time to run and aren't confident about doing right. They also worked around our needs and budget. In this case, we weren't looking to make the fanciest dream bathroom, so they helped us pick materials and a style that looked nice and would last without breaking the bank. In early 2022 I discovered water damage on the walls of my front room. After interviewing 4-5 contractors I chose Carlos and his team, to diagnose, demolish, and renovate what turned into pretty much the whole 2000+ sq. ft. of my house. I discerned that Carlos was knowledgeable, trustworthy, hard-working, resourceful, and would bend over backwards to do what needed to be done in a timely manner. I was not disappointed. Although I'd not experienced anything like this before (it wasn't easy living through it), Carlos stepped up to be present when needed, kept the project moving forward, and made sure the work was done professionally. Along the way, I learned that I needed to assert my observations and wishes. Carlos found ways to create and re-create what I desired. He was not the least costly nor most expensive option. " The short end of it is that I called a contractor to replace my roof as it was that time to replace it. The contractor who will remain anonymous came out and did a disastrous job. This project started back in January 2023, in the mid of the rainy season, and yes what happened next is exactly what your thinking, the company was midway done installing the roof, stopped because of the rain and the tarp they used to protect the roof failed and water came into many parts of my home. I really like the workers and the quality of their workmanship. The average rating is really for the project manager and their office staff. After signing the contract, we get an invite for a walkthrough for X date and an invoice for the deposit. The deposit is in the wrong amount and the date is wrong as well (even though we emailed about the start date earlier with the Project Manager Chuck). We respond to their admin staff. They change the date of the walkthrough. We get a follow-up email from the finance staff that they haven't received payment yet. Well, the walkthrough date was still in the future and you only pay by check. They apologize for the confusing email. - I wish they would have paid attention to details more. The walkthrough happens - Project Manager Chuck walks his foreman around the house to detail the work. I text Chuck that we would like the portable toilet to be located behind the house. He said he would contact the toilet company. The portable toilet is delivered right in front of the house the next day. - I don't know if he really contacted the toilet company. Project begins - the toilet is a dead giveaway we are renovating. The city comes and tells us we need to move the toilet and they serve us a notice to stop work because we don't have permits (Project Manager said we didn't need it). Project Manager talks to the city and tells them an incorrect reason for our project and the city wants to cut open the ceiling that we just patched. We have to call Chuck and clarify the cause of the work. We are stressed and we don't hear from the project manager all day until we follow up because the workers are continuing progress. The city did relent and permts aren't needed but it would have been nice for him to tell us. - communication seems really important in these projects and I don't know if our project was too small to warrant that attention We ask for a quote for a fence replacement. Project Manager says he will get it to us (he has another big deal going on) the next day. That's fine. He keeps saying he will get it to us for the next 5 days. Our original project is finished, we pay up, and he still says he'll get us the quote. - we never get the fence quote The team of workers is great. Work looks great. Communication with Project Manager and admin staff was lacking and frustrating, he didn't follow up on things he said he would do like the fence quote or telling us the city permit issue was resolved. Communication and follow-through is important with home renovation projects. Although I like their work, I wouldn't work with them again because of the lack of attention to details, communication and follow through. read more

We hired another contractor to do our kitchen remodel, and they subcontracted Carlos' company (so Built Right did all the actual work). The direct contractor turned out to be absolutely awful (they were not paying Carlos and they kept us in the dark for a lot of problems). This easily could have blown up and destroyed the entire project. But Carlos has integrity, vision, and dedication. He worked with me to get the project finished, and I really appreciate his honesty and work ethic. When we were unhappy with something, he fixed it. He listened to what we wanted, and was happy to adjust if we asked for something different. We also did full permits through the City of Oakland (complete headache) and they passed all inspections. This was a pretty complex, large job as we were moving all of the appliances so they had to change the plumbing, electrical, and gas completely (sink, fridge, oven, etc). The entire project would have been 110% better if we had just directly contracted with Carlos. Every single person in his team was very respectful and hard working. Had electrical panel moved out of closet to make it compliant with current code. I also had a sub panel and gfci circuit and separate 240 power line ran to new Swim Spa I had installed. The electirical work was completed within two days and the workers were very thorough and made sure I understood what was being done and how. The master bedroom needed the heavy furniture moved out, carpet pulled up and discarded and the new hardwood flooring installed. FIRE TO FABULOUS! We had a fire at our condo in Concord. Condo occupies 2nd and 3rd floor of a 3 story building. Fire started on 3rd floor and the actual fire damaged was contained to that floor thanks to Concord Fire Department, however the smoke and water damage went throughout the entire unit. Built Right Construction was extremely responsive from the moment I called. They made a priority visit to meet with me on a Saturday morning so that no time was wasted. Professionally and proficiently they worked with the HOA, my insurance company and negotiated the proper repairs every step of the way. They worked to protect my interest by taking moisture readings, asbestos and other cautionary testing to ensure that all required repairs both visible and not immediately visible were accounted for and completed to protect our total interest, and that the repairs would be made with the highest level of integrity and quality. They completed the mitigation and repairs end to end. A true full service company. Once repairs were agreed upon by Built Right and the insurance company they completely rebuilt the unit which had to be taken totally down to the wood framing. Their quality of work is exemplary. The team is personable, professional and thorough.They maintained consistency with repairs to ensure that they were completed as quickly as possible to minimize to the extent possible the displacement of our family. The final product looked great. We had popcorn ceilings removed and BRR patched, skimmed and smoothed everything (Level 4) before painting the ceilings. They were able to quickly re-assess when we found that there was concrete instead of drywall behind much of the ceiling. Unlike other contractors who gave us estimates, BRR wanted to come and check out the space beforehand and their level of communication was great for this kind of project. We had Chuck and his crew complete 2 separate projects on our home. They helped us in our Mater Bath Remodel and they installed new Front Double Entry Doors for us The first project was started before COVID and Chuck and his team helped us with framing, drywall and paint. Each team member that came through was courteous, thoughtful, and took great care to mind our light colored carpets to get all the way upstairs and back to the furthest part of the house with every bit of materials going in and out. They also took the time to be patient with our timid dog and her shaking until we could get to her and move her as they passed on by.
