Rat infestation in my garage (never had rats before so didn't know the proper process). I had to dispose of half the items in my garage. Junk removal took care of that job & removed the rat poop. Then I called A2Z to clean everything assuming that's all I'd have to do. Last night I saw a giant rat run across my garage so now I've paid $3500 to hazmat clean the 1/2 my garage but still have a rat infestation. I'm now working with a rat removal service but before A2Z allowed me to hire them & get in contract they should have advised me to be sure to complete the proper step beforehand of ensuring the rat infestation was resolved. Now i'm out $3500 for an unnecessary garage cleaning and still have a rat infestation. As a new homeowner (or any homeowner) I'd assume a good business would make sure I've done the pre work (in this case rat infestation elimination) before accepting the job. That's in my view a shitty thing to have done to me as the client. Really disappointed because they seemed professional throughout the process. So for this reason of not holistically proactively making sure the proper prep was done I cannot rate this business any higher than a 2 star. I'm not angry I am however very disappointed and feel that I've been tricked. I cannot recommend this business. read more

A2Z handled water damage and mold remediation for our condo bathroom after we detected elevated moisture levels in the drywall. Our project required demo, drying, and sanitization. From the initial meeting, our project manager Idan was thorough and communicative. He performed the initial inspection with attention to detail, let us know the scope of work that would be required, and was clear about the possibility of needing to do more after opening up the drywall and assessing the full extent of the damage. Contracting and scheduling was easy via email and we were provided an estimate of how long activities could take. When activities started, Idan and his team (Miguel and Jesus) laid down a walkway to protect our floor during equipment transfer and isolated the area with plastic covers. From there, they completed demo over a couple of days, removing debris and cleaning as they went. They checked in often and made an effort to minimize demo to only what they thought would be needed to properly remediate the space. Once demo was completed, they set up dehumidifiers to dry the space over a few days before cleaning and sanitization. We were provided daily reports of progress, which included written summaries and photography of work that had been done, including moisture meter readings to monitor drying. We really appreciated the expertise that Idan and his team brought to the project, in addition to the clear communication and courteous interactions throughout. It's been 5 years since I first called A2Z, and I've since hired Afik and his teams on 3 additional jobs because they always do fantastic work. I've remodeled several of our bathrooms, and each time I call Afik to do the demolition and hauling. His team is always professional. They cover their shoes before walking into the home, lay out a disposable walking path, and set up a zippered containment barrier at the bathroom door. Most importantly, they carefully remove every piece of the bathroom that I ask for. Both during and after the demoltion, they are careful not to allow dust in the other parts of our home. Ron did the estimate and was incredibly fair in his pricing -- he and his team of Jesus and Nicolas were very thorough and great communicators throughout the 3 day process or was it 4? I would highly recommend Ron and the team at A2Z Restoration for water issues inside their home. They brought in air scrubbers and cleaned the basement and removed the moldy sheetrock and made our home safer. After purchasing my new home, I needed to address a residual mold situation under the water heater in my garage. The company I hired initially turned out to be unethical, careless, and unprofessional (if I'm being kind). There was no sealing off of the affected area, no confirmation the mold wasn't present elsewhere, no attempt to ensure mold was fully remediated. All while expecting payment before any of that substandard work even began because "that's the standard in my industry". The mold was never handled on the opposite side of the wall, a bedroom with carpet. After a persistent damp smell and discovering mold on carpet tack strips, I reached out for another remediation. Afik was honest, upfront, and accommodating. His team got to work quickly. He was just as angry about the first company as I was.....and he wanted to reassure me there are credible remediation companies out there, companies with integrity. I have never been spoken to so rudely by someone I hired . I was constantly interrupted when speaking - I literally could not finish a sentence. I was constantly harrassed about getting paid - before the contractor (Afik Shibam) even started the job. At one point, he asked to just deal with my insurance adjustor directly. That was fine with me - but I guess they didn't come through for him quickly enough, either. I called my adjustor several times on his behalf to check on the status of the claim payment- even after he had already spoken with them directly. After he put off the work once, he called and reset the start time for a Tuesday. He said he was concerned about getting paid. I assured him he would - my insurance company had already sent an amount for deposits - he let me know didn't think it was enough. I told him I would give him a deposit, when he began, and that I thought by the end of the week when he was finished, the claim would be paid. I assured him that he would get paid. The Friday before starting, he emailed me again about the insurance claim. I sent an e-mail to my adjustor to check on it. On the Monday, he called to check AGAIN. On the Tuesday morning he was to start, he called to say his men were on the way, and that he would be there soon afterwards. And AGAIN, asked about the payment from the insurance company. My patience was shot by that. It was first thing in the morning, and I said pointedly, that I had been following up, I would call again - that he would get paid. At that point he told me he didn't like my attitude and he was canceling the job- even though his workers were already in route. Frankly, in a way it was probably best for me. He had already been quite rude to me before then - maybe he felt because I am a single woman, he could push me around. I had even considered canceling before then, but silly me - I thought a signed contract meant something. Now I am faced with getting a new contractor. Stay away from this guy. read more

About 3 months after buying our first home, my fiance (who is very mold sensitive) and I had a mold test done because he was feeling very sick. Sure enough, there was mold in 3 different areas of our SF apartment because of water damage from our old steam radiators. Idan was the third remediator who I spoke to. He showed up having fully read the very long mold test reports I had sent him. He did his own inspection to make sure nothing was missed in the mold tests. He stayed for an hour and a half patiently answering all of my questions. He sent over a proposal a few hours later, and his price was very fair. Idan also worked with me on dates--he and his team came right after Christmas when I was out of town anyway. This was a big lifesaver and so appreciated. Throughout remediation, Idan was extremely responsive and detailed in his emails. I was so nervous during the whole process because my fiance's health was on the line, and Idan really helped put me at ease. I had already planned on using a different company for the particle cleaning portion of the remediation process. The cleaner (who is also a remediator) came after Idan and his team left, and he called me to tell me that A2Z did a "really, really good job." When we had a flood in our kitchen recently, we relied on our daughter who relied on Yelp reviews to help us (two very senior citizens) choose a partner who was honest, experienced, fast and who had many, many excellent reviews. Enter A2Z Restoration (Martinez) into the picture. Within a couple of hours of my call, Owner Afik was at our house here in Fairfield, assessing the damage and ensuring that there would be no more damage from the flood, including pulling up some of our baseboards to ensure that what he thought was true was actually true about the depth of the problem. Afik also gave us good counsel on whether or not to report the flood to our insurance. He was All In and very hands on. By early that evening his guys had arrived, and they were careful, as if it were their own house, as they moved furniture, pulled up carpet, set up fans etc. His team was very experienced AND had great customer service and communication skills. (They also had good things to say about their boss and the company, and had all been at the company for a long time, when we asked them.) In the end, we were very pleased with the work they did -- and when they left for the final time, it was almost as if they had never been here. We could tell that both Afik and his team takes great pride on doing excellent, skilled work. The price was very fair for the work performed. If you are ever unfortunate enough to need remediation services, A2Z Restoration would be my recommendation. Literally less than a week after renting out our condo, one of the upstairs toilets decided to spew out dirty water due to someone in a neighboring unit shoving a tampon down their pipe. I thought we had cleaned it up fine but figured it would be good to get someone out there to make sure there was no further damage, so I called A2Z. Realizing far more quickly than I that there was, in fact, a HUGE problem, Afik actually moved up my appointment to make sure that it could be checked out ASAP. Lo and behold, it turned out that the dirty water had actually spread throughout the condo, going through the ceiling of the downstairs area and all the way down the walls into even the downstairs flooring. As I had a mild panic attack at all the damage, Afik was both thorough and reassuring, helping me process the incredible amount of damage that had occurred. He was super knowledgeable about the condo unit, knowing exactly where to look (because this was not the first time Afik had been out to my particular condo association). The cleanup went smoothly, with Afik getting a cleanup crew out there that afternoon. They sealed off the affected areas and got to work, getting everything dry and doing everything they could to preserve what they could to reduce the cost of rebuilding everything. You guys don't need to look any further. My husband and I woke up this week to a flooded upstairs bathroom and water leaking through our drywall downstairs. I found A2Z online and called them immediately. I received a call literally 30 seconds after providing my contact information, and was told Omri could be at my house within the hour to inspect the damage. Omri called 20 minutes prior to arrival, got there on time, and automatically wore booties in my house without being asked. He inspected all the areas and evaluated the extent of the damage (luckily relatively localized) and gave me a quote on the spot. He said if we wanted, he could have a crew there within the hour. We decided to move forward since I had seen excellent reviews about them and thought the price that he quoted was fair. Omri's team was at our house the same day and worked diligently over the next three days to remove our soaked drywall and dry our subfloor and framing. I always received a call prior to them coming to the house, and received updates from Omri each morning. They covered all our floors in paper and plastic so as to not dirty the floors, and did an impeccable job keeping our house really clean. They were able to remove our crown molding in their original pieces, so they can just be reattached by our drywall guy, and even offered to dispose of our old toilet for us, since he knew we'd be buying a new one. They found some old mold that was unrelated to this incident after they had removed the drywall, and went ahead and cleaned it for us. I can't say enough good things about A2Z. They have gone above and beyond and made an extremely stressful situation a lot less stressful for us. It's been seriously stressful for months. I had another company come out to do water remediation, but I later learned the job wasn't done as thoroughly as needed - which led to the growth of mold and mushrooms. That's right... Mushrooms. Fast, professional, and helpful. From the first visit with Afik, to the followup with insurance afterward, everything was incredibly smooth. Afik and his whole team are professionals. A shutoff valve leaked into the wall, and into the wall below. We had a few people look at it before deciding, but Afik was cheaper, faster, more professional, and frankly more personable. Compared to other companies Afik quoted about 25% more because he estimated we'd need more work than his competitors. He was 100% right. Once his crew started taking the shower & wall apart it became clear the other company would either have had to up-charge us for extra work, or wouldn't have cleaned up the problem properly. Going with Afik & A2Z saved us a few thousand, and was a good reminder: a lower estimate is only better if they actually do the job. A2Z got it done. We had water damage in our kitchen and floors, and A2Z Restoration came through for us with remediation work. Afik was very communicative from start to end, and when assessing the water damage he always demonstrated depth of expertise and clear directions. They have machines that can try to help you salvage your hardwood floors from water damage, if you have true, non-engineered hardwood floors. The best part was, all the paperwork for insurance was taken care of by Afik and his team. They are not one of the companies in the Farmer's insurance network but they are in the network for other insurers - so they are familiar with what to submit etc. So for anyone who was wondering if you can or should go with a company not on your insurer's 'list', just know that you can.
