When we informed him that our travel schedule would delay their start until June, he was flexible. His team's thorough mold/ moisture remediation (removing the old moldy vanity, damaged moldy wallboard, and floor tiles) was completed in a week The remediation quickly received Satisfactory test results from SAFE, the environmental testing agency we independently hired. The restoration work then moved well with the replacing of sheet rock on the wall (where mold/moisture had been) but the laying of the replacement floor tiles was stalled when the team discovered that those tiles were slightly too short of matching the original 24"x12" floor tiles. To stick to our budget, we had opted to get the tiles on our own, not realizing that brands can differ in their tile sizing. This resulted in an unexpected interruption of the project for the PPR team while we found another tile brand true to size. Drew remained patient and flexible with us. The tile team did a beautiful job laying the new replacement tiles. After that, the last step was installing replacement vanity which was also done perfectly. After my insurance company caused complications that led to First Call terminating the job which I understood, I received an invoice in May of last year. I paid that balance in full with two separate checks within two weeks. I have the receipts, the copies of the checks, and the bank statements showing exactly when First Call cashed them. After a full year of zero communication, I woke up today to a voicemail and email threatening to send me to collections within 48 hours. They claimed they had been "trying to reach me" for 12 months, which is untrue. I checked my call logs and my email history; there was absolutely nothing. When I called and provided my proof of payment and the exact dates they cashed my checks, they admitted the "error" was simply because someone forgot to check a box in their system. It is incredibly stressful and offensive to have your credit threatened because a company can't be bothered to check their own bank deposits before sending out threats. As a veteran, I live by a standard of integrity and doing your due diligence. Relying on a "checked box" as the Bible instead of doing actual research is lazy and unprofessional. Do better, not just for your customers, but for the reputation of the guys out there doing the actual work.

I called Reactic Restoration on Friday, and Daniel Garza was able to inspect the damage that same day. Our house is older, so testing for asbestos was a standard part of the process; Daniel was able to get us in touch with an asbestos testing company that provides quick test results. That company got a tester to our house the next day (Saturday), and results were available Monday before noon. Fortunately, the tests showed that no asbestos was present. Daniel was able to assign someone to come to our house that same day, and set up dehumidifiers and plastic containment sheets with zipper doors, to seal the work zone, and to put down plastic to protect the carpet. On Tuesday, another team was able to remove the mold-affected wall materials, and wipe down the area with an excellent non-hazardous but effective disinfectant. They knew our preferred plumber was arriving at 1pm, and they were done with all work, including HEPA vacuuming and cleanup, before that time. The dehumidifiers are still set up, and will run for at least 48 hours. Daniel checked the area and the machines today (Wednesday), to make sure everything had been done correctly and that the dehumidifiers were working as intended. I am very happy with the service provided by Reactic Restoration. As Daniel kindly acknowledged on Friday, it's a shock to find mold in your house unexpectedly. It's been less than a week, and the mold is gone, and everything smells normal again! Everyone I encountered from Reactic was professional and kind. I hope we won't need their services again; but if we do, they will be our first call.

Many of the companies said they didn't have anyone available, and 1-800 WATER DAMAGE was out of the first to respond. I didn't know 1-800 WATER DAMAGE are franchises of a larger company, but so far I had a good first impression. They sent one of their Project Managers Angel Torres to do an assessment. He came when he said would, was very friendly and explained things in a clear manner. After they sent a quote, I felt comfortable proceeding with them. Before an insurance adjuster could do their assessment, Angel came before to setup high grade dehumidifiers and air filters and do a hard surface cleaning. Angel also offered to be around with when the insurance adjuster came in case there were any questions he could help offer, I don't know if that's a common practice but Angel seemed sincere. Angel was very thorough in documenting/phographing every part of the process. He also offered to talk and explain things with my tenant, which I know helped put my tenant's mind at ease, most times the vendor doesn't bother talking to the tenants and leaves that to the owner/landlord to do, so my impression is that was above and beyond. Angel estimated the job would take 4-7 business days, I think his team did it in 5. While I'm sure they probably deal with bigger scale jobs than mine, Angel and his team were very responsive to my needs and my tenant's needs. They asked me some questions over the phone, and after determining that I saw pretty visible signs of mold, they recommended I hire a testing to determine what type of mold it was so they could take appropriate action. They had a recommendation of who to call. The testing involves collecting air and other samples and doing moisture readings to see if got example there was a leaky pipe or something which was the source, there wasn't. After getting testing, they determined what type of mold it was and determined it didn't spread to all over the house. Their technician, came by do an inspection and gave an estimate. Their team removed base boards and were able to clean all visible signs of mold in the closet, they also put commercial grade dehumidifiers to remove any remaining moisture from the area so whatever spores wouldn't spread. We didn't get testing after the cleaning, but it seems like they did a good and efficient job. I can't comment on if the price was reasonable or not, but can say we think it was worth it to prevent that mold from spreading all over our house.
