But here is where they stand out! (Saturday) for $13.99, you get all the regulars such as sushi bar, orange chicken, shrimps, mussels, beef, ribs, etc., etc.... Buffet star has added Mongolian BBQ... (not one of my cravings but for those who love the big grill), and the following awesome menu items... 1) Crab legs (Steamed) 2) Cooked oysters 3) Whole Crab! (YES! My mom and dad swore this was the best buffet ever so we decided to eat here for mothers day lunch. After driving about 50 miles to get here we finally arrived at about 1pm and waited about 30 minutes to get seated for a table of 7. After waiting they finally sat us all the way in the back on a 3 tables that were connected and was shared with a party of 3 next to us. The food was good. My first round I went to the area where they cooked the noodles in front of us, got some sushi, sashimi and some coconut shrimp and it all tasted good except the shrimp. 2nd round I got baked lobster, crab legs, egg drop soup, and a lot more sushi and sashimi. All which tasted great. The wait for the baked lobster took some time since thats what everyone was there for. I actually kinda wish the lobster was steamed and not baked. 3rd round was dessert and fruit. I got some soft serve ice cream and some bananas, oranges, and grapes. All which tasted great. The food here wasnt top notch but was better than your average Chinese buffet. The reason im knocking off 1 star was for the customer service. The waitress's here are like at any other buffets. Was reading some of the reviews as I'm taking friends here today as every time I get to the area I just have to go here. I was surprised to read complaints about Sushi having having too much rice as in making Sushi you spend more time rinsing and preparing Sushi Rice then that of preparing the cuts for the Sushi and even Gordon Ramsey said it's too hard for him. Now I'll admit that the place lacks atmosphere in the dining area, but how else would you be able to seat the huge amount of crowd that they get. For all those complainers I suggest you try some of the other horrible Buffets in the area and I even take my Vegan/Vegetarian friends here with no complaints yet. On "Lobster Weekends" Buffet Star has some funky serving tray full of some sort of chopped up something, that looks like it was processed thru their garbage disposal. It may have been "Lobster" at one time, but more than likely is some sort of "Lobster Shells, Guts & Byproducts" they claim is/was a real lobster. EAT IT AT YOUR OWN RISK! HOARDS OF SLOBS; It would be laughable if it didn't happen so often with "All You Can Eat" Buffets that some PIG OF A PERSON simply empties an entire serving tray of food onto their plate! THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM AT BUFFET STAR. You wait patiently for them to serve some more Crab Legs and when they do somebody elbows their way to the tray AND LITERALLY EMPTIES IT ALL ONTO THEIR PLATE! Buffet is ok . But what makes this place terrible is the rude service ! We had a party of 12 for a birthday and they were rushing us out of the restaurant. It was hard to get a refill and employees were rude. Don't expect a lot of privacy here, there is none. If you're looking for such, you'll be very disappointed. This is my favorite AYCE in the Inland Empire. Pros: 1) Price 2) Food always hot and fresh 3) there's a guy who grills the Mongolian stuff 4) dishes/table cleared right away 5) Asian lobster style (w/ onions, ginger, etc) on Saturdays and Sundays 6) you can walk it off after eating - there's JC Penney, Barnes and Nobles, Target, Petco, Dress barn, beds and beyond, etc. Cons: 1) sometimes it can get really loud 2) sometimes we have to share seats with strangers on the long tablle read more

It was a busy Sunday afternoon so i expected a crowd- yes. Tables were close together and it was humid inside. There is a lot of variety to choose from. Sushi looked good but i am not a fan so i didn't partake. Black pepper beef was excellent, tender and flavorful. I was upset the lobster tails did not have much meat on them and the 1hour i spent there they never brought out more. Crab legs were skinny and no proper utensils were available to use. This female server almost ran into my friend and she was right behind me pushing me out of her way to get to the back kitchen. I told her what is her problem! Amazing deal for $12.99 on a weekday dinner. I went on a random Wednesday around 5PM, so there was no wait and it was not that packed. We were seated on a cafeteria-style dining tables. There was no one sitting near us, but I think I would definitely feel a little claustrophobic if it was packed. Buffet Star has a a lot of variety of food that can satisfy a diverse group of people. They have a sushi buffet with a few different types of rolls and poke-cut sashimi. The salmon sashimi was my personal favorite. They have a bunch of fried food and fast food-styled dishes. The BBQ ribs were surprisingly very delicious. The meat just came right off the bone. It wasn't rubbery or too chewy. There is a Mongolian grill inside the restaurant where you get to choose the ingredients and they grill them for you. They also have the typical Chinese-American dishes. But the most amazing part is the endless types of seafood. They had crab legs, fried crabs, scallops, oysters, and more. My favorite was the fried crabs with lots of garlic. The most disappointing factor was the dessert table. They didn't even get the little pastries out of the plastic containers. And it was very messy with broken pastries everywhere. This place would be solid if they would fix that. I would give this place three stars but $12.99 is just such a good deal when you're getting so much seafood. read more

Don't take my 1 star wrong. The food was good, not great (I'd rate the food quality as a 4 out of 5). The service was just below average with us having to request refills on our beverages. The 1 star is the result of poor service at the table and just plain rudeness regarding our payment. Its our habit to tip with cash, but after I paid just the bill with the CC, the waitress came back to "remind" us they worked hard to service us, and she failed to notice the cash tip laying on the table. If this was the end of the story, I'd chalk it up to a simple misunderstanding. The waitress then complained to two locals at an adjacent table who apparently had too much to drink, and they started harassing us about not leaving a tip. It went so far as them harassing us in the parking lot when we left. They honked and high-beamed us in the parking lot while we were having some conversation after the meal. All of this for a tip. I regretted the $20 cash tip we left on the table. I wouldn't go back to this restaurant if it was the last place on earth to eat. Thank goodness there are plenty of these Chinese cuisine buffets to choose from, all with comparable food and what matters more, friendly service. The price is pretty good for a buffet that isn't crappy. I believe it is $12.99 for dinner. Be mindful that if you hate loud places, this isn't the place for you. And that it can get pretty cramped in here. However, the food isn't terrible. It's pretty average and good enough for the price you're paying. It's also CLEAN. That was a rough night. I took my two teenagers there for dinner as a treat, but we didn't feel very treated by the end. The food was pretty greasy and everything that was cooked tasted like it had all been in the same old oil or grease. The sushi was good, but not up to the same standards as many of the local sushi places. However, for the price, I guess that was a steal for all you can eat sushi. We also didn't like being shoved into the crowded room like cattle. The dining experience stuck with us too. Long after we had left, we were tasting and feeling dinner. My daughter and I had stomach aches all night. Usually I only rate for things are outstanding because I figure that the rest will work itself out. It's family style seating for Star and I'm not a fan. Usually I don't factor in such things for a review, but they really went overboard... there are so many tables crammed together, it would be hard to get around even if you were there by yourself, let alone contending with a lunch/dinner rush. They of course have A Mongolian grill for those chow mein lo mein lovers. They also have a good selection of American foods like fried chicken. Actually they offer several different varieties all mediocre. Reasonable prices for what they offer, Mongolian BBQ, sushi and rolls, lots of Chinese dishes, crab legs, lobster, oysters and clams in cooked several different ways.
