Sad to see some low ratings recently. We've had great service and food every time we have dined here. The good: They seem to make a lot of menu items fresh/on site and you can definitely taste the difference. I appreciate that they source better bread for their burgers and sandwiches. Service is attentive, sincere and always a pleasant experience. The less-than-good: Fries, while hand cut, could be crispier, but that's a fairly common problem. Condiments are run of the mill/bottled which, while the familiar might be comforting to some patrons, seems like a missed opportunity to really elevate their burgers and sandwiches to a higher level. Bottom line: It's great diner food at an average price. It blows doors on a lot of other places and I would encourage others to eat here. read more

I came in to Buddy's with a craving for chicken fried steak. My side options were hash browns or home fries, toast or biscuit. The home fries is a potato baked then sliced and fried. I ordered my eggs over easy and they were perfect. The biscuit was huge and moist. I liked the gravy, so I imagine the biscuits and gravy are pretty killer, too. The server was cheery and prompt. My coffee cup was never empty. I'm glad I stopped in. I'll be back for breakfast again and to try their lunch. read more

Visited this restaurant on a recent trip to Eugene. Service was great and food was good. Nothing over the top, just the right amount. We came for brunch on Sunday. Got there just at the right time and got a good seat. You might have to wait. It's popular. The decor is super fun. Very retro. Service was great and while I was expecting kind of a greasy spoon it was definitely not! The biscuits are gimongous! Coffee however is definitely diner. Not good. I love Buddy's Diner! The food isn't perfect -- I find their fries to be kinda greasy and their burgers are sometimes on the sloppy side -- but everything tastes great regardless, especially the milkshakes. What makes Buddy's such a great restaurant is the customer service and the atmosphere. The vibe and decor is very 50's, with tons of retro art and a jukebox. This is my favorite greasy spoon breakfast/ brunch in town. The food is good and they even have a excellent Cali benedict. I recommend trying the cinnamon roll. Bring someone to share it with it's huge, warm, flaky, and fluffy (it's always disappointing getting a dense cinnamon roll). Also the service is excellent, every time I have been here the waitresses have been so nice and attentive. The service is what really seals the deal for me! read more

If you want a greasy diner, in the best way, this is the place. Great shakes and burgers. Good breakfast. Service can be a little slow.

I haven't had weak, soapy flavored coffee in a breakfast mainstay for, maybe, 40 years. Yuk! Sent the coffee back twice, before it was taken off the bill. Come on people, even McDonalds has way, way better coffee than this. Everything else was acceptable, nondescript diner fare: eggs, bacon, omelettes, pancakes, home fries -- they were all OK. Eugene is NOT the Mecca of breakfast, but there are at least a half-dozen better choices within a 10-minute drive. read more

The last two times I went in the waitresses were totally uninterested and I even had to walk up to the counter just to get a refill and to go box. Horrible service to say the least. Yesterday was the first visit to buddy's diner and it was just really nice the service was extremely great! But id have to say that the best part was their burgers. Hands down the best burger I've ever had and it was just their simple Cali dream burger, just a simple burger with mushrooms and avocado as there main condiments on this master piece of a burger! Now id give the service and speed and food a 5 stars! But id also have to say the cook and one of the waitress had a real staring problem and made my other half very uncomfortable as the cook wouldn't stop staring at her. Great food and service just bad manors as the waitress was also very pushy as I was complimenting the food and service but all she seemed to care about was getting us out. So sadly this is why I gave only 3 stars for the fact being a little can ruin a lot. read more

My family has been loyal Buddy's diners for years. They closed at 3:00 on Christmas Eve and I showed up at 2:58 to buy a $100 gift certificate for my father. There were 4 people inside closing up and they wouldn't even acknowledge me at the door. Finally at 3:00, an older woman just shook her head and finger at me. I'm glad they didn't acknowledge me... I'd rather give my money to business owners who appreciate their earnings and customers. Also, the food isn't as good as it used to be. Been there twice and both times I got great service and really good food. Had the chubby checker burger today which is a bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg and shaved ham, I'm guessing honey ham because it had a slight sweetness and made for a really good burger.
