It was all absolutely delicious, I did dock one star because it's obvious this is a restaurant has certain things that certain people do and they dont deviate from their appointed job. Service was inconsiderate and unorganized. Food/dish handling was unclean. Food was bad. My partner and I stopped in for dinner on a Saturday evening, there were 2 couples ahead of us and we were told there would be a 30 minute wait. 10 minutes after us an older couple came in asking wait time and was told the same thing, they were seated 15 minutes ahead of us and it took over an hour to be seated. We were seated at the same time as couples that came in 30 minutes after us, and our order was taken and we were served food after them. During the wait we witnessed staff wearing gloves while texting on their personal phone, using tissue to wipe their nose and answer the restaurant phone. The same staff member was later seen handling plates and waters, did not see them change their gloves once. Took over half an hour to have our order taken after being seated, we watched other groups be seated, order taken and served food in that amount of time. My dinner was given to me 10 minutes before my partners. I ordered the Khao Soy Tofu, it was underwhelming to say the least. No broth due to the cooked noodles having been soaking in it for so long they were soggy. The tofu was undercooked. The fried noodles were cold and stale. Would rate 0 stars if I could. Very unimpressed with this place. Seems like some people were served appropriately (cannot speak for the quality of their meals or the continued cleanliness problems). Not sure what made us seem worth underserving or invisible. Perhaps it was our younger age (late 20s/early 30s) or the color of my partner's skin. My coworker said it best: "when I walked in I thought it would be more bore expensive than in ended up being." The interior is nice and upscale. The large menu has lots of options including the classics as well as some featured treats. We warmed up with deep fried tofu and chicken satay, the latter of which was a better-than-average representation of the dish, tender and savory with creamy peanut sauce. I had the crispy basil chicken on a recommendation, and I was impressed. The coating was very crispy, with a sweet tangy sauce and lots of basil. The portion was very large, and a great value. My gf was very happy with her tofu pad khee mao. This is my new go-to West Seattle Thai spot. read more

Even after almost a year of living in West Seattle, I had never made it out to try this place. I had a craving for Thai food recently so used it as an excuse to order take out during these weird times. I called around 4:50 PM on a Sunday, and was on hold for about 10 minutes. When the person answered, he put me on hold again and seemed to be taking 3 orders at once, so they're still busy! I was quoted an hour for my food to be ready, so keep this in mind and don't wait until you're starving to order. We didn't get a receipt so I don't have the prices. I'm also pretty sure I ordered a Thai Iced coffee but it wasn't with our food and we didn't realize until we got home. I'm not sure if we were charged for it, and I didn't want to call them back to bug them about it. I did send an email but haven't heard back, so they're probably not checking it. Not a big deal in the whole scheme of things. Tl;dr double check your order before going home. I chose spice level 3 for everything, but the banana obviously. I think level 4 is the spiciest. Fried Banana: This was listed in the appetizer section which feels a bit odd. A great snack/dessert. Larb Gai: This was really flavorful and paired well with the sticky rice and cabbage to balance it out. Panang Curry - We chose beef as our protein. I feel indifferent about Thai curries in general. I'll eat it if it's there, but I prefer noodle dishes. It's nice to have for variety though. Phad Thai: It was good but I'd go with level 2 spicy next time. Level 3 was a bit too spicy for me in this dish. We got this with pork. Crispy Garlic Chicken: I guess this is what they are known for. I could see the potential, but even though I just love a 5 minute drive away, it wasn't crispy anymore. Hopefully, I can try this in restaurant one day. The entrees don't come with rice, so we ordered a side of steamed rice. ***** My Star Ratings: 1 Star - Terrible. Just thinking about it makes me angry. 2 Stars - Meh. Unlikely for me to return. 3 Stars - OK. Open to coming back, but wouldn't go out of my way to. 4 Stars - Yummy! Will definitely return if I haven't already. 5 Stars - AMAZING!!! I've been hearing about the crack chicken for a while. I once saw someone carry out and eating an order at Beer Junction. Looked and smelled great; so I put on my list to check this place out. Next few weeks, dropped by for carry out; tough finding parking; went in and wow; must have been 15 carry out packages stacked on the counter. I was ordering and they said it would be 45 minutes wait for carry out; I passed. Yep, this place is doing the business. Fast forward another few weeks and time for a real visit for a dinner date. Of course, packed; but decided to stay and after taking about 10 minutes to get someone to put me on the waiting list; said it would be another 20-30 minutes to be seated. In reality, I noticed a table open and was only about 10 minute wait. Finally, going to check out the food and have got passed the gauntlet. We ordered spring rolls, Thai coffee, green beans, crab fried rice and the garlic 'crack' chicken. Everything came in the correct order starting with the Thai coffee and the spring rolls. I thought the spring rolls were fresh, but came fried as I must not have ordered the correct ones. No biggie as I like fried food. The rest of the order came about 15-20 minutes later and was ordered 2-star heat; but was pretty spicy and more of a 3-star to me. No biggie again, I like it spicy and glad I didn't order it 3-star as might have been too spicy for me. The food was great and the portions were huge so definitely leftovers. Overall, I liked the food and wish I could have been seated in the main dining room to get the full atmosphere. There's just seems to be a sense of being just a bit too busy; a sense of fast pace when I'd like it to be a sense of calmness and relaxation. We ordered crab wonton, Phad Thai with chicken, crab fried rice and crispy garlic chicken. We enjoyed the crab wonton. Phad Thai and crab fried rice were tasty but not special and they both lack color and looked unappetizing. Phad Thai is soupy and crab fried rice was dry. The crispy garlic chicken didn't come until 20 minutes later and I had to ask about it just in case it was left out of the order. Once we received it, I was disappointed it came burnt. Comments from others customers said it was burnt. The chicken was tasty after cutting away the burnt parts. It was the sauce that was burnt and spread and tossed on the chicken. That was foolish of the cook to do that. Using burnt sauce and a waste because we refused to eat burnt chicken, I would have gotten stomach. Burnt food causes cancer. They need to figure out how to make the sauce from getting burnt or use a pan that doesn't burn the sauce. There is no ambiance because the seating is limited and tables crowded among each other. read more

Such a lovely atmosphere with a cozy, posh dining room. There's a reason why everyone orders the garlic chicken, it's delicious. We ordered it as an appetizer for the table and it was devoured in minutes. Some of the chicken was a little over cooked and dry but the flavor was great. The Tom Kha soup was chock full of mushrooms and was more lemongrass forward than other versions I've had but tasty nonetheless. Penang curry was solid. Several of the entrees we ordered had very good parts but were disappointing as a whole dish. The duck from the five spiced duck noodles was so delicious but the noodles were limp instant ramen noodles and fell flat. The spicy long beans were good but felt like a meat dish as it was served with large pieces of pork. It seemed a bit unbalanced of a dish. We were most excited for the whole fish but were very disappointed as the fish was overpowered by a lime sauce. When you scraped off most of the sauce it was better. The fish is served with the entire body but pieces are cut off of it and served separately on the plate which isn't what I expect when ordering a whole fish either. Gift card? Update on the status? A mere, simple apology? No, no, no, no, no, no and unfortunately no. But loooooove how their machine gives you the 18%, 20% and 22% tip options when paying for takeout, in my case, long before they even contemplate making your food. I think I'm done. Their on-line order process is a nightmare. You could be on line for over an hour and then give up. But their crispy garlic is by the far the best of all Thai restaurants in Seattle so I endure the headache of takeout ordering. Food is 5 star. Waiting on.line is a 1so I gave them a 3. I'm psyched to have found my go-to Thai restaurant in Seattle! I should start out mentioning that it can get crowded but they do take reservations. We went on a Saturday night around 5:15pm and had to wait about 35 min for a table for the two of us, so we wished we had made reservations in advance. But you can order drinks while you wait (you have to drink them in the waiting area, though, as the bar's counter area is reserved for diners). Parking is on the street, but isn't hard to find a nearby spot (at least not the time we went). It's a small restaurant, but has a lively vibe, is warm (both welcoming and temperature-wise), has some traditional Thai decor, and all of the smells from the kitchen are quite nice. The staff is all sweet, energetic, and on top of everything - they work as a great team. Onto the food - it is phenomenal! I started out with the fresh rolls with peanut sauce (note: if you're a fellow peanut sauce lover, ask for double as it's a small amount). I loved that there was mostly veggies in them and only a tiny amount of vermicelli noodles. I'd definitely order again! My husband started with the bags of gold. He loved the presentation and thought they were good for what they were, but he wouldn't order again (they were too "mushroomy" for him - but he is picky about mushrooms, so that was his bad for choosing something that's not in line with his taste). But, he said they weren't bad - if you like mushroom infused meat/seafood filling, then give them a try. We also shared Tom Yum (veggie version). The broth was super super yummy! Strong notes of lemongrass and lime - we loved it. Just note that it's a portion that could serve 4 people - it's a big size! We ordered medium spice, which definitely packed a punch (next time I'd order mild as I'm a wimp). For my main I had the green curry (with veggies) with brown rice. It had such a great flavor - I'd definitely order again!! But, the portion was more for like 3 people, not a single serving (although it was fantastic leftover!). Plus, I ordered mild and it felt more like medium (just pointing that out for those who are sensitive to spice - I'd ask for no spice or the least amount possible next time). Great brown rice as well. My husband had the Phad Kee Mao, which he loved! If you're a fan of wider noodles, consider giving this dish a try. Lots of layers of flavors. Oh such a disappointment after years of an annual fabulous meal. We made our way for the annual after Christmas lunch and alas the quality was like from a completely different restaurant. Pad Si Ew. Biggest flaw no wok hai:( but even that couldn't have saved the soggy noodles, only broccoli, un seasoned and dare I say sour tofu? No finesse to the saucing at all. Very bland The stand out chicken.. well it was not unless you count very dry and maybe refried chicken with excess breading. No spice, huge over cooked chunks and burned garlic from a jar. I have raved about this place to newcomers but honestly, if you are closed and your phone system, which is the only way to order, isn't updated to inform customers, that's a problem. I saw on hold for 25 minutes then it started ringing for another 5 until the call dropped. Based on the hours, I assumed they were just busy and made my way over hoping to get an order in by the time I got there (mind you, without the bridge this is no short trip) and they were closed. Frustrated to say the least, but this is also about the food. The last time I went there the crispy chicken was not very crispy and the portion compared to usual was lacking. While I understand I ordered near the end of the night, that still shouldn't mean that I receive stale, cold wontons. This is our go to Thai restaurant in West Seattle. Overall they have decent service with variety of vegetarian options. Unfortunately, I cannot get the taste and feeling of oily soaked spring rolls from today's visit that I would reconsider before coming back. A kind request to the chef: remember the basics of frying. If the item is too oily you wouldn't serve it to your family so please don't serve it to your customers. Instead warm the oil to correct temperature and fry a fresh lot. I would probably give this place somewhere between 3-4 stars. The food definitely wasn't terrible at all and I would go back here if I was in the area. One of the main reasons I wouldn't give 4 stars was actually the customer service. I came here with a larger group of 9 people and the service just wasn't great. They treated us a little rude. Besides that, I was able to try a decent amount of food here. The egg rolls and calamari here were just okay, the egg rolls honestly tasted like previously frozen egg rolls. The crab wontons are something I would recommend though. They were perfectly crisp and the sauce it came with was very good. I also tried their Yellow Veggie Curry, Pad Thai, and Pad See Ewe. All 3 of these were good and something I would definitely eat again. The serving size here make for a great family style meal or a meal that you'll have leftovers. I've eaten the crack chicken (crispy garlic chicken) many times as take out food and loved it. Recently a friend and I ordered it in the restaurant. It was very disappointing. The chicken was so overcooked and tough that we could barely eat a little of it. Being the former owner of a small restaurant in Texas, I usually never complain, but I asked the waitress how to avoid this in the future since this is one of my favorite foods in Seattle. I think I found my favorite thai place in Seattle. The food at Buddha Ruksa is amaaaaazing! The first time I came here, my friends and I had cocktails and their famous crack chicken (it's called crispy garlic chicken on the menu). I got a lychee martini and it was really good! Sweet and not too heavy on the alcohol - just how I like it. And the crack chicken was delicious!! It was definitely crispy and garlicky. You can specify how spicy you want it too! I came back recently and we ordered different items to try - the pad thai with chicken and the prawn pumpkin curry...and more cocktails! The pad thai was very tasty, but the pumpkin curry was DELICIOUS! One of (if not the) best pumpkin curries I have ever had in my life. There were generous amounts of prawn in the curry, and large tasty chunks of pumpkin. And the actual coconut milk based curry was PERFECT. I'm drooling about the curry as I write this and I really want some now. It would be perfect for a overcast and cold and gloomy day like today. This place is very popular - it's evident by how much takeout they prepare. Both times I ate here, I sat near the bar, which is next to where the takeaway pickup spot is, and there are constantly large piles of takeout bags and people coming to pick them up, and then more bags and more people. I'm going to have to remember to get takeout from here too. As we were eating our dinner, both tables on either side of us had ordered the crack chicken, so we slightly regretted not getting the crack chicken, but the noodles and the curry was a lot of food. Service is pretty good - the staff came by to check on us and refill our waters every so often. On my second visit, it took a while to get our cocktails - they came after our food had arrived, so I think the one bartender was really busy. OK so the crispy chicken was OK, not like the best in the world. The sampler was OK, nothing super exciting, but when I see a place with soooo many reviews, check ins, and more I have to go. Perhaps these people have not had really good thai food, it was OK. if you eat here a lot, please tell me something on the menu that is delicious. I wanted to try more, but I was not eating with a bunch of people and cant wait to come back and try this place again. I have two spots in downtown Seattle I do to and one in Bellevue that is knock my socks off and this place didn't do that for me. The service was OK, nothing big about it.
