Bubble World was (or maybe still is) the cool hang out to go to for bubble tea. Although the place itself isn't that exciting (there are a few arcade games to play) the cafe is open late (till midnight usually) and has some decent pricing on bubble tea with newer stores like Coco and Chatime driving up the price of business. I came here with a group of friends after hanging out on Robson. The store isn't too busy so finding a table for four was pretty quick (something not as easy to achieve in other bubble tea shops nearby). For what the price point is in downtown Vancouver, the product is not bad. I got a green tea slush with pearls which was $5.00 ($4.25 plus pearls for 75 cents), which is slightly cheaper than the stores previously mentioned. Of course, the taste isn't as rich compared to some other shops I've been to, but the quality is much better here if you want a slush. Coco and Chatime are much better for milk teas IMO and I would go there for that. While the store itself isn't exactly a place I would want to stay long, Bubble World can serve its purpose as a shop that can provide decent drinks. There are a few other locations including one near Kingsway and Boundary as well as another location near Metrotown so I will definitely check those out to see how the experience compares. We told her I ordered the waffle, not the drink and apparently she thought we ordered the drink. Anyways, the employee wanted us to refund us the cost of the drink in CAD (uh, nope, no way) and then charge us for the waffle which was more expensive. Still, no. I'll just take the mango drink and give it a shot. Anyways, the mango drink was not good at all. It was like drinking a can of mango puree plus slurping an occasional mango pudding with a boba straw. Wow, not gonna lie but I just expected regular bubble tea. I was completely blown away when I tried their black sesame milk tea & taro pearls. Taro tapioca isn't something you usually find at a bubble tea joint so it was a nice surprise! And the flavor consistency was on point - just the perfect amount of chewiness & you could taste the taro in every bite! I'm so glad I stopped by randomly. So good I came back a few times. read more

Walking on Robson made me thirsty. Just so happens I was hella craving milk tea and what do you know, within a short distance from where we were was Bubble World. Walked in and nothing was really happening. It looked like a Lollicup or Quickly in the States so I was a little bit worried. The guy that was working was watching DVD in the back. After he took my order he made my drink and sat back down to watch haha. Went for a milk green tea to be on the safe side, and it was pretty good actually! Very milky. None of that fresh milk business here so it is all powdered milk. Much more traditional I guess. I asked for half the sugar and they were able to do that so that's a good sign. Usually when they can't do that, it means the milk tea is pre-mixed. It was pretty expensive though, easily over $4 for a drink. The big chain of bubble tea places around town. You name a city within the GVR, you will probably know where the "Bubble World" is. Providing the downtown Robson crowd with bubble tea, with the nice see-through cups and thick colorful straws. There is not many offerings within the downtown core for this stuff, and sometimes when you are a recognizable name like 'Bubble World', you obviously have money to throw down to acquire good realestate/location. The drinks are standard with all their other stores, but when you really need one, it fits the bill, especially the slush selections. Open till midnight, this one is more like the one near Kingsway and Joyce, where there are not many people to stay and sit around. People say Bubble World is a staple in Vancouver. The quality and flavor of the taro bubble tea I was ordered was 3/5. It was a little powdery in flavor still and the bubbles were slightly over cooked, leaving them squishier than I would've enjoyed. The venue had a Playstation 1 with Street Fighter on and those fun joypads to make it seem like an ad hoc arcade. The WiFi existed but may have been dead because I was getting speeds of less than 1mbps up and download. If you want to do work here, just pack up and go to the Starbucks across the street. This may seem like a poor review, HOWEVER the price cannot be beat. For $2.99 you get what Torontonians would consider a large and you're paying about $4 for a large with pearls/jelly which would not be possible at any of the big chain bbt spots here in Toronto. My place for bubble tea whenever I visit Canada. Yes, I have tried many (10 +) tea places in Vancouver and Richmond area and bubble world stood up among others. The tea flavor is strong, bubbles are chewy with a sweet touch, not too soft. Don't go to those buy one get one free places, this is the best. They also have pretty good selection of Tawain style food, judging by the amount if customers, I am sure it is good as well. Price is a bit high, about $5 per drink, and service is average. The servers are always too busy for customers. I think it is a common service standard in this area. Anyway, I came here with some friends on a Saturday evening, and I ordered an earl grey milk tea without ice and very very little sugar. It was great! The tea flavor was good, and I really enjoyed it. My friend got a jasmine green tea which was really strange, and my other friend got a peach tea with pearls which was way too sweet. I really liked my earl grey though. The ambiance is nice too; there's plenty of tables and chairs to chill at, and there are two gaming consoles that you can play for free. Cool place! I've only had the slush here but let me you, i'm in LOVE. Since i came here for vacation I can't find DELICOUS SLUSH back here in nyc. I've been looking for places and they're nothing compared to this place. my hotel was right across the street; my friends and I stayed for a week and decided to try this place in the middle of our stay and since then we were there everyday, sometimes twice. For a decent size the price was 2 something! Back in nyc, it's a much smaller cup for $3! Oh yea, I've only tried their mango slush and their lychee slush, i'm not crazy about sugar so I would recommend the mango one (it's AWESOME). This used to be one of my favourite places to have chicken nuggets and fish cakes. It feels like they've really gone downhill. Both were dry and did not have the same spice as they did previously. The tawainese sausage fried rice was so-so with a mouthful of onions with each bite. Bubble tea is still good but they even messed up my order when I asked for half sweet. We were 2 of 4 people in the restaurant so I would have expected a bit better. Overall won't be going back anytime soon. read more

I always order my Green Apple Green Tea with Mango Jelly, I had order that drink in LA area, Orange County, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle literally anywhere I been to & seriously hands down they made the best Green Apple Green Tea. It had the perfect amount of sweetness, with a refreshing taste of the tea as well and a hint of green apple! Most places that make it has more of the overpowering green apple taste that's pack with sugar which I mostly just wait til my ice melt to unsweetened the Boba drink. But in this case the drink was just perfect! My friend order a Peach Green tea with aloe and we both agreed it was one of the best Boba place we been too! Weekdays they close at 12AM and weekends they close at 1AM! We are definitely going to stop by before we leave Vancouver. We gotta get our Boba fix! The tea is not too sweet, not too milky (where you get a white film on your tongue), and not powdery because they have an automatic shaker that dissolves everything. I haven't been here in a very long time since I discovered Dragon Ball. What happened to this place? I don't know if there was a change of ownership, but it has definitely gone downhill from being middle of the road. 1. The sign says due to increasing cost, the stamp card was eliminated. I don't know about that because last time I checked our Canadian Dollar has been consistently strong and Dragon Ball is still offering stamp cards. 2. The plastic cups are flimsy it's practically a hazard to try and hold it properly without flexing and crushing within itself. You're essentially pushing the liquid out you'd have to sip it fast the moment you pierce the cover. 3. The Boba/Bubble is tasteless and low quality. There was no attempt to sweeten the balls and highlight the drink. Not chewy enough that it feels like it's been sitting there for quite some time. Evident of low foot traffic and/or inferior quality. If you think this is a harsh assessment, this business is after all called - "Bubble World". For the above reasons, I wouldn't recommend this place any longer. read more

AMAZING bubble teas and milks! Try their signature drink right now - Mango (with mayo chunks on top!). They also have a lactose free option (FINALLY!! I give up on this place, have tried it several times and they seem to use lots of artificial flavours/colours/syrups. I ordered a fresh fruit kiwi juice with no extra sugar since their drinks are usually overly sweet, and it came out a neon green colour (fresh kiwis are bright green, but not food colouring green), and puckeringly sour with a strangely fake kiwi flavor and that tooth achingly sweet high fructose aftertaste (probably from the syrup). I think it must have had 1/3 of kiwi in there at most. Yuck. Threw it out halfway through because I could not make myself finish it. They have a long way to go to compare to the fresh fruit BBT at Dragon Ball. read more

Mmmmm blueberry slush with pearls... I love this place, but it's second best (in terms of bubble tea) for me compared to Pearl Drops in Burnaby. The biggest thing I dislike about this place is that they use coffee mate powder instead of milk. However, it proved useful yesterday since I was with someone who is lactose intolerant. The best part about this place is the pearls are always of perfect squishiness consistency and perfect sweetness. Anyway, it was still great and it didn't disappoint me yesterday. I love it! I like the concept of a place that serves primarily dessert drinks and I think we should have more of them. I'm not a big fan of the pearls that you get in bubble tea but fortunately you can order pretty much any drink without them. The staff is friendly, the place is clean, and they are open late, all good things. However, the drinks will run you about $4.50 incl tax, which sounds expensive to me - but I guess that's on par with a coffee drink, so I suppose it's all relative. Although there's lots of seating, conversation is near impossible because of the loud noise of the grinding machine (there's got to be a way to get around that! A little booth with half a wall would not cost much for construction and would make a world of difference). I love the fact that you can order any drink "less sweet" here, since most bubble tea places tend to drown everything in sugar. My boyfriend and I split a taro milk tea with boba and it was fantastic. BONUS TIP: They can take US currency if you happen to be in a pinch and your debit/credit card isn't on you or isn't working for some reason. Upon reading about this place, it was referred to as the "Starbucks of bubble/boba shops" in one source, so in this, I was somewhat intrigued. And the shop's conveniently in the West End, where I knew I'd be spending a bunch of time on my visit a few weekends ago. So I decided at some point during the weekend I would stop in. It so happens that upon my visit to Michi Waffle, I discovered Bubble World is basically next door. This is the sort of tea place that uses some powder mixes, but I'm not sure that's exclusive for all drinks. I had a taro milk tea with pearls. So much sweeter than what I'm used to at home in the SF Bay Area, so much so I was unable to finish the drink. Good thing we ran into Bubble World when we did- it was the perfect place to rest up for a bit and get our energy back before making our way back. I decided on something I've not seen here in the Bay Area- a mango-peach icy. Super-tasty, cold, and sweet, it really hit the spot. It was essentially a smoothie with boba in it, but the combination of peach and mango was perfect. The menu at Bubble World is extensive, so there were lots of other combinations to try- I just didn't have the time or the space to do it. The place itself has a few tables and chairs, but I think most people opt to get their drinks to go and drink as they stroll. In case you want to stay, there are some video game machines in the back, as well as those little toy-dispensing machines you see at bubble tea places everywhere. Holy Cow! Wow it's one of the worst milk tea we ever had. It was a cold winter's day....we asked do you make hot hong kong milk tea? They replied yes we do.....then nightmare begins..... They pump out some tea from big canister and put it into a pot and they started warming up the tea on some kind of make shift stove top (gulp) Then they mix in some powder carnation (my husband and I exchanged panic looks) !!!
