    Brown Sugar Brûlée Milk Tea
    Kate M.

This was a fun drink to order takeaway as I've never had this kind before. I gotta say, I think I'm more of the Thai Milk Tea person sans the pearls vs this kind of milk tea. I think it's a texture thing for me and should have known the pearls wouldn't have been my jam. This particular tea while it looks awesome, I found lacked in flavour of the tea itself. I love a strong tea flavour within my milk tea but this one was very milk heavy. Perhaps it was just an off night, my boyfriend however liked it a lot and finished both of ours. I do wanna try more flavours as I've been told it's awesome so gonna have to give it another go!

We happened to pass by and were in the mood for some boba before a long drive. A+ for boba pearls quality, but B+ for price value. Parking is selective around the area. Cambie St is super busy, so you have to find street parking in the residential areas just around the corner. We were lucky to find parking, but it's tight. Get your parallel parking skills ready y'all. The shop itself is small--it's not ideal for large groups, as there are only a few small tables that are designed for groups of two. Their restroom is clean and shop is brightly lit. The menu is easy to read too. The boba itself is what's we're talking about, so here goes. We got the brown sugar MT with boba pearls. The pearls are heavenly. They were the best pearls I've had yet including Seattle boba shops. I'd say this definitely beats all the Seattle boba places I've been, but it doesn't compare to CA. I suppose nothing can beat CA boba shops. BUT Xing Fu Tang holds its own. The milk tea is a bit too sweet with the portion of brown sugar being a little much for me as someone who gets 0% religiously. The cup sizes are also quite small compared to what we're used to in everything-is-bigger in the States. However, I would come back to this franchise if I'm back in the area. They also have a cute little boba pan which gives it a cool feel as if you're back in Asia getting boba straight from the hearth. Service was also very fast and friendly!

I had heard a lot of good things about this spot and was really excited to try i, but honestly didn't think it was too worth the hype. It's cool how you can see the brown sugar boba at the window though. I ordered a brown sugar boba jasmine milk tea. It was pretty good, but definitely not the best I've had. They didn't put enough ice so by the time I was out the door all of it was already melted and my drink was lukewarm which I didn't enjoy too much. The boba was better than most places, but honestly didn't have as much flavor as I was expecting. Worth a try, but I probably wouldn't return.

Decent but expensive bubble tea shop. Looks like they're capitalizing on the whole brown sugar bubble tea fad going on these days. Parking is available on the side streets. The interior is quite classy and modern. Looks like they've cleaned up the place quite a bit since the last incarnation (T-Mix). The bubbles are cooked in a wok which can be easily seen. Pretty neat. Staff are friendly. There is also one of those Buddhist fortune stick things. Pull a stick out of the container and read the corresponding fortune slip out of the drawer. Helps to read Chinese here. Or at least bring a friend who can. The bubble itself is quite good. I had the brown sugar pearl milk tea, which is their signature cup. Definitely looks cool with all those swirl marks. The place mentions something about stirring it 18 times before drinking but I think I did 50 or so. Hopefully that didn't ruin the flavour, or I won't be able to die complete. Good product, but there's a price premium attached.

Boba had great texture. Some drinks were under-flavored. THE WAIT: Just a couple people in line ahead of me on a Sunday around 6pm. THE DRINKS: * Brown Sugar Pearl Milk Tea - 4 stars * Latte & Taro - 3.5 stars. These were very lightly flavored.

I've always wanted to try XingFuTang so I went there on June 18th (Tuesday) to buy drinks. Thank God, I got there on the slowest hour without waiting in a long queue and the service was fast. The concept here was interesting you get a fortune paper after the purchase. You just have to stir the sticks and then pull the drawer to pick a fortune. I know girls would be into this fortune reading and this makes bubble tea visit fun for sure. Price isn't cheap; however, I really enjoyed their brown sugar bubble tea and you could watch staff mixing pearls in front of your eyes. It was worth the visit. No worries if you buy 2 drinks or more, staff can carefully pack drinks in a bag or a container. I bought 2 drinks for me and my sister it didn't spill on a transit ride. I wouldn't go too often, but hopefully I get to try their bunny drink next time.

This was one of the places I saw on Instagram and did some research to see they had a place in Hong Kong. I made sure to plan out our trip up to Vancouver to include a stop here before we went to our airbnb. I got here on a Friday afternoon around 1:30 pm. Street parking around the area was pretty easy. The paid parking was fairly cheap too (1 Canadian dollar per hour). When we got in there, we got 2 of their most popular drink. the brown sugar bubble milk tea. We had to wait a little as they were making up a batch of their brown sugar boba. There was a little bit of a crowd waiting for them to finish the batch, but it wasn't too bad. We got our drinks and mixed them up (a sign there says 18 swirls with your straw is the ideal amount). I was expecting something extraordinary, but instead, it was just very average. There wasn't any real sweetness from the brown sugar. I couldn't even really taste the brown sugar in the boba. We ended up not even finishing our drinks. It was fun to go try, but in all honesty, you can get better bubble tea else where for cheaper and without the wait.

I never liked pearls but I decided to try Xing Fu Tang's brown sugar pearls. It was very different. Different than the pearls I first had with my first bubble tea. I actually liked it. Also, it didn't give me any itchy throat feeling at the end. Wow. I thought I was allergic to pearls, I guess not the ones that Xing Fu Tang makes. But to be fair they do make the pearls in house and it's not those instant ones. I am guessing I am allergic to the instant pearls (not sure where to buy those but guess they exist somewhere just not at Xing Fu Tang). I have heard a lot of good reviews about this place and have decided to give it a try. I came with my Yelper friend Pam. She got the Bunny Jelly mango smoothy. She said her drink was really good and of course very unique. I got the brown sugar pearl milk which is Xing Fu Tang's signature drink. The pearls were chewy but not overly chewy or hard. Also it had the right amount of sweetness to it. They use actual milk in the drink. Basically its not milk tea. It is like the name described: Pearls made with brown sugar with milk. I liked my drink. Note they don't ask about sweetness level because they can't adjust it due to the sweetness is already in the pearls. They don't add extra sugar to the drink. In terms of the mango sweetness, it is dependent on the fruit which they don't have control over. Overall, I liked their bubble tea and I am sure I will be back. But I have to say they are on the pricey side. In Taiwan their signature drink is only 65 NT which amounts to around $2.33 and here they charged after tax $6.83.

If you're looking for boba that will change your life, this is probably it. Xing Fu Tang's boba is not only sweet and tasty, it's unique and fun. Their brown sugar boba is stirred in a mound of brown sugar in a wok. The entire process is on display for you to see as you stand in line to place your order. The boba is fresh, al dente, and perfectly sweet. Don't mix up the brown sugar milk and the milk tea drinks. The milk drink is more intricate as the top layer of creme is browned with a flame. The milk tea isn't as fancy and therefore costs less. Be prepared to wait. There is always a line snaking through the store and out onto the sidewalk. The wait isn't as grueling as it sounds. As you wait in line, you'll be able to pick out a fortune as you pass by a wooden dresser covered in Chinese writing. This is fun and will make the time pass by just a tiny bit faster. They offer a myriad of drinks here! I highly suggest the brown sugar boba milk drink if you're a first timer. The matcha milk with strawberry boba is ig-worthy, but doesn't taste anything close to how it looks; I'd skip this.

After trying so many places, we still find XFT's pearls are the chewiest. I ordered their flagship drink (Brown Sugar Pearl Milk 焰遇幸福黑糖珍珠鮮奶) again. They stir-fried their pearls with brown sugar over a giant wok at the front of the store, so you could see how they cook their pearls in-house. The wonderful toasty brown sugar smell is covered in the entire store. I really enjoy the drink with a layer of foam milk topped with brown sugar melted by hand-held torch. Hubby likes the combination of having grass jelly and pearls, so he ordered his favourite drink again. It was Brown Sugar Pearl and Herbal Jelly Milk Tea 黑糖珍珠仙草鮮奶. It was perfect in texture and sweetness without tasting artificial. We find they keep a good consistency and flavour even though the sugar and ice levels of their drinks are unmodifiable. Xing Fu Tang 幸福堂 (XFT) has stores in multiple locations in Metro Vancouver. We went to their location on Cambie this time. It is at 3432 Cambie Street, Vancouver, BC. Drink: 4/5 Should Try! Service: ‍‍‍‍4/5 Kids: 3/5 A-OK for kids (a bit expensive for the size that you get, but we are addicted to their drinks) Price: 1/2less than $20 for two Presentation: 3/5 Parking: Paid street parking or plenty of street parking on West 18th Ave and West 19th Ave Tips: * has a generous amount of pearls. * comes in one size only. * has a giant "happiness sticks stand" that can draw for fun while waiting for the drinks. Would I Return: Yes ‍

This bubble tea place has been blowing up my social media! I am someone who could drink bubble tea pretty much every day, and the classic milk tea is simply my favourite. I stopped by today around 2:15 which was great timing, because while there was still a small queue, I probably spent only 10 minutes in the store. I've walked by on weekends and this place is PACKED! So, I did not get their classic Brown Sugar Pearl Milk which I saw them make simply by pouring milk on top of the goopy delicious brown sugar pearls, but rather the Brown Sugar Pearl Milk TEA! I was not let down by the flavour of pearls that seem to be stirred constantly in the heavenly rich dark brown sugar. The flavour really is something special. While I'm not sure I would normally pay over $5 for a tiny bubble tea, I did think trying it once was well worth it. TRY IT OUT!

The hype is real. Initially a skeptic, I am now a believer of the brown sugar pearl. Xing Fu Tang has taken the recent brown sugar BBT craze to the next level by coating the tapioca pearls in addition to adding brown sugar to the drink itself. They also add cream and torch the sugar on top. Their flagship Brown Sugar Pearl Milk (BSPM) did not disappoint. I didn't think I could ever be addicted to a BBT drink, but this one had me at first sip. The balance, creaminess, and flavour of the flagship BSPM is top-notch. Keep in mind this drink does not contain tea. They also offer a less popular Brown Sugar Pearl Milk Tea which I will try another day. I had to go with their famous non-tea flagship drink for the first visit. I was tempted to try both in one sitting but wanted to avoid bouncing off the walls with the subsequent sugar high. You are not allowed to customize the ice and sugar levels of the BSPM since it's made to an exact recipe and specifications. I don't think people should complain about this lack of customization, since if you had an award-winning recipe, would you trust the average Joe to not muck it up with their own alterations? Staff was super nice during my first visit. Xing Fu Tang also offers other drinks like fruit teas and sodas. I think there's definitely room for improvement in their current brown sugar pearl cooking system, though. Once their pearl cauldron runs out of the tasty globular masses, everyone has to wait while they cook up another batch from scratch, which takes about 10-15 minutes. They could easily start up another cauldron in the back room once the main one outside gets low on pearls and swap the cauldrons out when empty to minimize the time customers have to wait. Instead, they choose to make the pearl cooking process a bit of a show by pouring in the raw brown sugar and starting the entire cooking cycle over. I get they want to demonstrate (or I should say, show off) their proprietary pearl cooking method, but I'm sure the delay gets a bit aggravating for those who've already seen it. Add this additional cooking time to the standard wait of the line and you could easily be there for more than 30 minutes. I was unfortunate to hit the point when the pearls ran out, but thankfully I wasn't in a rush that day. I still love Xing Fu Tang even with this one critique. I can't wait for my next BSPM fix!

In recent years, there's been numerous bubble tea chains that have been sprouting all over the Lower Mainland. Xing Fu Tang is another new addition and they're known for their brown sugar pearl milk. Upon walking into the store, you can smell brown sugar in the air. This is because there's a staff member "stir-frying" the brown sugar pearls (see pic). There's also a section of the store where you can draw your "fortune". This is typical of Chinese? Asian? culture and I thought it was pretty neat. It'd be especially interesting for those who have never tried drawing a fortune stick. Overall, the interior was nice and clean. There aren't too many seats, however. I bought the flagship brown sugar pearl milk. I thought the service could have been better. I waited 15-20 minutes for my drink and I thought the cashier could have informed us consumers in advance that there'd be a __ wait time. I mean, it was my first time here, how was i supposed to know that we'd be waiting for quite a while? All i saw was the staff members chatting among each other. When I finally got my drink, it was a beautiful piece of artwork. The first few sips were good; however, it was too sweet halfway through that we could not consume it AT ALL. (Just a reminder that cannot customize the sugar level for any brown sugar pearl drinks.) We took it home and added a shot of espresso to it. Caramel Macchiato, anyone?

I ordered the beef noodle soup, and the noodles were prepared well (good texture and not soggy) and the soup had a slight but not overwhelm sour taste from the preserved vegetables. The beef wasn't as tender as it could be, but it wasn't chewy or tough to eat. Prices are reasonable at around $20 after tax and tips. While it wasn't the best or most authentic beef noodle soup I've had, it does hit the spot if I'm craving Taiwanese food downtown or want a hot bowl of noodle soup on a cold day.

So if you cannot take spicy food, check with them before ordering. The beef noodle soup is tasty as I do like the addition of pickled vegetables in it, giving a bit of tartness. The beef is tender though the quantity is very little. More noodles than meat ratio. The combo is totally not worth it now that the price has gone up to about $13. If you want rice and noodle for lunch, I think Peaceful Restaurant across the street is a better bet. At least the portion is bigger.

Classic Brown Sugar Ice Bear $16+: definitely very fun and cute, and it's a shareable size. I liked how there was a layer of grass jelly and chewy konjac jelly on the bottom for added texture. The snout is made of ice cream and topped with a pair of Oreo ears. I'd recommend eating it quickly or perhaps getting a separate bowl to mix it. The ice is traditional Taiwanese-styled, so it is coarse and therefore doesn't absorb the syrup as well as bingsoo for example (which is fine/powdery ice). Soft Serve w/ Freeze Dried Fruit 6+: you can also get the soft serve in a cone which is about $1 cheaper, but you can't add toppings to it. I really liked the real freeze-dried fruits, especially the blueberries. There are other fruits available too (eg. Strawberries, raspberry, pistachio etc) which are all addition $2. The blackberries were a bit to big and had lots of seeds, so the texture was a bit too crunchy mixed with the soft ice cream. Dried blueberries were amazing though and jam packed with flavour. Since it's real fruit, some of them may be quite sour (which I actually enjoyed) as it pairs well with the sweetness of the soft serve. Soft Serve w/ Brown Sugar Pearls $6+: brown sugar syrup wasn't too sweet, so I enjoyed this as well. My favourite would still be adding freeze dried blueberries though, as it's more unique and fruity (personal preference) Espresso Meets Grass Jelly & Gelato $8+: pretty strong coffee drink, unlike a lot of bubble tea/dessert places, so I'd only recommend it to regular coffee drinkers (me). The drink is served hot with a scoop of gelato which melts very quickly. LOTS of soft grass jelly - you'll definitely get a mouthful of it every sip. Good amount of sweetness for me.

This doesn't make sense as this was the largest table in the whole restaurant as well. Now when we asked about other smaller tables that we could move next to this table, their excuse was that other guest "may show up".  Now what about the current guest? They could easily have moved a two person table next to the 4 person table. Yet they were saving for guest who were clearly not coming. how silly is this by not moving a few tables to keep your customers happy. Will not be going to this location from now on.
