This place is so fun! Small intimate bar right on top of the action. A friendly waitress/guide to help you appreciate everything. Really interesting dishes with creative plating. New and interesting flavors. They push boundaries and are willing to challenge themselves and their customers. Michelin prices so it will be special occasions when we're in Denver. But I look forward to my next visit. read more

Wow, Bruto really surprised me! I loved everything, the atmosphere, drinks, food and service. My friend knew about a drink that wasn't on the menu and I'm so glad she did, the cava cocktail is so yummy. Started with oysters and the sourdough bread with acorn squash and yuzu ricotta. The bread was so good we ended up having three more orders!! The cucumber salad and carrot & fennel salad were both so fresh and really tasty. The okonomiyaki was so unique and just delightful. The calzone was great too. Flavors were spot on and I can't wait to go back! read more

Trendy central! This super cute joint in the Free Market is very stylish and very hip. The menu is tapas/shareable style and offers a pretty good variety. The handmade "sodas" are so interesting and tasting-- they essentially take fruits and make them pulpy, into a syrup like consistency and then mix it with carbonated tonic water to make a soda-like drink. I believe we ordered these things: kampachi tiradito, gomae, laffa and onigiri. The ceviche type thing was absolutely delicious and the egg based pancake of sorts was both savory and sweet. The onigiri is the sushi emoji, in real life! Wasn't crazy about the limited mushroom filling in that one but it wasnt bad! Overall a great experience, nice and knowledgable servers, good and adventurous food just a little pricey. read more

Tucked away in the Dairy Block, Bruto is truly a hidden gem! This location has a personality of its own, if you are in the area I highly recommend stopping by for a snack & a drink! Ambiance: super unique, it was inviting yet comfortable. The staff was so helpful, kind, and engaging! We lived being able to watch our food & drinks be made. Food: Very impressive... tuna cudo was delicious. The tuna was fresh & the guacamole it laid on was well seasoned. My first oyster was fine however a little squeeze of lime made all the difference! Overall, everything was amazing! Drinks: Mezcal Paloma was smooth and enjoyable. read more

Bruto had really great interesting food. The bread was as good as advertised, the sauce work and flavors generally were impeccable. And full disclosure for the slight critique that follow, as for me it may have unfairly suffered being the first truly special dining experience I did since eating at Pujol in Mexico City. Still I would not be completely truthful if I didn't say the concept and hospitality could have been improved a little bit. Taking a page directly from something I loved at Pujol, the moles/protein forward dishes could have used tortillas. I wanted something to sop up the excellent sauces and it would have solved the problem of leaving feeling slightly less than satiated. Additionally, where you sat in the dining room offered really uneven experiences (what you saw in the open kitchen/who interacted with you). We did not love being sat next to an overly used cleaning sink at that price point. Next, and perhaps most inexcusable, the portions person to person were not even. My wife noticed both of her protein portions were significantly smaller than mine. I also thought the up charges were odd. With the dishes, I would have preferred an optional tortilla service rather than bread but that was not an option, and adding caviar and truffles to dishes that weren't designed around the ingredients had no appeal to me. Finally, even for a tasting menu the pace of it all was too slow. The kitchen is so calm (to its credit) that there is not that much of a "show" between courses, and I did not feel like the table was "touched" enough in the long gaps. But even with all those critiques wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for the food and ambiance. It is unique for Denver and creates the feeing of a special occasion (but if you are traveling for food, maybe go to Mexico City instead). read more

This is the worst establishment in Denver. I've been here three times, and never had a great time. It's the most unfriendliest staff you can find. There's a reason this business is almost always empty. read more

This place is well deserving of their Michelin star. Their tasting menu was flawless, along with service and drinks.

The staff are authentic, passionate, creative and genuine... incredibly talented and hard-working. Take pride in the quality of food and service they provide. They also take covid seriously and have implemented a number of safety protocols to keep customers safe. Ok, let's talk about the "vibe" -- just look at these photos. BOH (Bruto's outdoor section) is Denver's best kept secret... located in the trendy hidden alley known as the Dairy Block, they could be successful for the atmosphere alone. Perfect spot for date night, or if you're single, just to grab a drink and people watch! While BOH covers the outdoor/trendy/street food scene, Bruto covers the exclusive/private scene. It can be found just inside up the stairs, and seats up to 12 for private events and intimate culinary experiences. On a less busy night, I had the pleasure of being introduced to the kitchen and head chefs, and can personally attest to the environment and quality of their food. Thank you Chef Michael for the tour, Joe and Andrew for the drinks, and Francisco for the amazing outdoor grill experience! A night I won't soon forget. This place is a gem. If they weren't a bit hidden, tucked away in the back of Free Market I'm sure they would be busy all the time. Brutø is from the Dr restaurant group as The Wolf's Tailor in Tennyson and Basta in Boulder. As with those restaurants, the sourdough piada, served with a drizzle of olive oil and made fresh in the wood fired oven is to die for. If I had to choose one carb to eat for the rest of my life, it would be the piada. We had the other bread offerings, a chickpea socca and a laffa, as well. While both delicious, they couldn't quite compare to the sourdough. The other small plates we had were delicious as well including a carrot and fennel salad, clams, and a wonderfully spicy chorizo. But the other real star of the meal was the chile-braised pork with lentils. The pork was so so tender and the flavors were spot on! The cocktails were also wonderful and well done, which was a nice surprise. I had a refreshing take on a gin and tonic and a light mezcal drink. The staff were great and attentive and happy to chat and give their thoughts and recommendations. We are definitely coming back! read more

The drinks are pretty dilute, but the ambience makes up for it! We ate outside (BOH), Nice atmosphere, outdoor area is very nice and food is excellent, horchata water is good and the piada torta is delicious, price is fair for the torta, the only reason why I'm not giving it 5 stars is because menu didn't have to many options and tacos were overpriced read more

My boyfriend made dinner reservations for my birthday as a surprise and it was the perfect birthday dinner. I got there and they had a flower bouquet set up for me as an option you can pay for when you make the reservation and it was so sweet . What we didn't do is add drinks that accommodate each menu item and I think we will do that next time but we ordered this delicious bottle of wine and at the end we were offered the drink that pairs with the dessert and wow it was good. My favorite was the bread platter and the taco with grasshoppers in it. I highly recommend this place for the food and the service it was so warm and welcoming here. read more

Really enjoyed their open air alley set up. Walked by randomly with 3 friends and came across a table of 4 conveniently set up with a gas heater near a live jazz band. It was perfect! We ordered some drinks and a few noshes. Their pork taco was ridiculously good! Prices were a tad steep but given the wonderful service, location and set up, and the fact that businesses are really struggling right now, I would call it reasonable. Check them out! read more

Bruto is very expensive. I bring this up first because I think it is appropriate to require a very high standard from a restaurant if you are paying a $500 bill at the end of the evening. I also want to point out that apparently the 6 course pre-fixe menu changes often so your experience might differ greatly from ours. We had the 6 course plant based menu, and since we do not drink very often we went with the non alcoholic beverage pairing. I was assuming that they would take advantage of the plethora of really good non alcoholic "alcohols" that exist now and create real mocktails for this pairing. But instead, almost every course had a very sweet, often citrus based drink with it. The food was good, but not great. And with the exception of the third course mole ( easily the best dish of the evening) every other dish was aggressively acidic. This made for a very one note meal. We were told that they pickle and ferment everything in house. But it felt a little overzealous with the fermentation. Each course was very fussy ( a lot of edible flowers placed with tweezers) but when you actually took a bite, the presence of acid overwhelmed many of the delicate flavors making them invisible. And then paired with the citrusy and sweet beverages, by the end of the evening I was craving a bowl of fettuccine Alfredo or a plain grilled cheese - something basic to offset the acid. It was interesting to watch the chefs working to create the dishes, and to hear detailed descriptions of each one. But all that, along with the high price tag we just felt warranted better food. Under other circumstances I would say we should try it again. Maybe a menu with meat and fish on a different night would provide more variety of flavors. But at $500 a couple, I suspect we won't roll the dice again. read more

What a disappointment. After weeks of looking forward to this experience, I walk away just....confused. Very small restaurant and almost everyone is counter seating which means communal dining. I think brunch or other settings are fun for communal dining but people experience things at different paces and so to wait or be rushed for strangers isn't fine dining to me. Cool open kitchen, I'll give a star for that. Service was good if not a bit pretentious. (Mushrooms growing at the base of the lush foothills etc) I think what was confusing was the food. It just wasn't very good. Sustainable? Yes. Beautiful? Yes. But it just didn't taste good. I left so disappointed. read more

We love both Bruto and BOH. BOH is the taco place + bar outside. It's a super fun place to hang out, sometimes there's even live music, and the tacos and wine selection are really good. We also had dinner at Bruto, their indoor fine dining, and had a lovely evening. Service was excellent, food was excellent, and we enjoyed sitting at the chef's counter seeing everything being made. Would recommend BOH for drinks and snacks with friends, and Bruto for a date night. read more

An expensive disappointment. Mediocrity reigns supreme and you can get fresher fish at Long John Silvers. The wine pairing is by far the best part and, granted, brilliantly done. But certainly not worth the $400. Their bread is superb and the service and all the staff are excellent. However, do yourself a favor and skip this onanistic overpriced cult. People only say they like it to justify the outrageous price tag to themselves. read more

As lousy a meal as perhaps I've ever had and at crazy prices - little details they serve carrots and forget to cut the tips off - every single dish was terrible- now the cocktails were excellent- wines overpriced but OK and service was great except they had to explain all the ingredients in dishes that were simply not any good - I've been to many a Michelin starred restaurant this joint isn't even a decent hash house-kudos to friendly and helpful service team read more

Came here for my birthday celebration with my husband. After the restaurant received their Michelin star, we were excited to try it out. The service was impecable and very descriptive of their menu offerings. Our server was exceptional. We also enjoyed the ambiance and open kitchen concept. We purchased the Omakase experience, as well as upgraded to their wine pairing menu and caviar add on. The first 2 courses were enjoyable, but not over the top excellent in a way I suppose we were expecting. It was truly downhill after that. Each subsequent course was overly disappointing and did not meet expectations of a restaurant of this caliber in our opinion. We agreed that hopefully it is a menu that they will change and perhaps we dined during an "off" time. I was also disappointed with the wine pairings (all white wines the entire time), and wouldn't recommend this upgrade. Each one was very so-so; nothing very impressive or complex. The dessert served was inedible for us, tasting of ash/charcoal dusted atop of an ice cream with an off putting pastry -mediocre at best. Very disappointing. read more

I have had a lot of amazing dinners & tasting menu experiences - this was off the charts! Fantasy food! And even better; the chefs and staff prepared everything in front of us and explained the ingredients and how everything was prepared. Wow! You need to go. It's an experience of a lifetime. Just do it. Really. I need more words but I really don't. It's that simple. Go.

Cool new open concept restaurant located conveniently by the elevator door that transports you down to the subterranean Run For The Roses. We stopped in for lunch and ended up ordering way more than we planned - this is a tapas bar of sorts and everything on the menu will end up costing you around $9, minimum, once you load it up with your accoutrement of choice. The sourdough is nothing short of amazing - it comes out light and pillowy from their wood-fired oven with a nice dusting of blackened char on the outside - I opted to have it served with salt and butter in addition to the dousing of olive oil that comes standard - truly top notch. The word on the street is that they make this bread from scratch using house-milled flour, and it shows. We also sampled the house-cured Bresaolo, which comes out with a splash of olive oil and a wedge of lemon. It was delicious as far as I could tell, although the olive oil overpowered the taste of the beef at times and I found myself shaking off excess oil to get at the pure taste of Bresaolo. This couples well with the sourdough. In terms of a true entree, we ordered the smoked chicken and potatoes, which ended up being deceptively filling. The smokiness was prevalent throughout in the crispy skin and purple potato wedges. I found it wasn't quite tender enough to cut with my butter knife and was surprised when I asked for a sharp knife that they had to go elsewhere on premises to get me one. In addition to the above, we also ordered the socca (my wife makes this at home; she says theirs is better) and the crudités. The service here is attentive without being overbearing and both the gentlemen that assisted us were very knowledgeable about the menu and had zero issues with skirting around a few dietary issues. All in all, a great new addition to the Denver restaurant scene, and definitely worth a visit... read more

Definitely my new favorite place in Denver. Brutø offers a fun, unique, and delicious dining experience. Every single course that came out was absolutely stunning in presentation, and was about as enhanced as a dish could possibly be. Even the bread came out with a white molé dipping sauce and miso butter that made me wanna slap my grandma. All the way to the charred octopus, and the "al pastor" tacos. There's nothing that wasn't absolutely top notch here, even for those with the highest of standards. Can't wait to go back. read more

I came to know this place due to an email I had received from the manager since I was unable to book at a different restaurant. I really enjoyed the atmosphere here, although dinner started at 8 pm but our first course was not served until 8:30 pm. They explained each dish, but by the time the food was served, the temperature may not have been ideal. Regardless, the food portion was great and the flavors were also good. The cons of this place was that the tortilla was a bit stale and the crust of the bread was burnt. The burnt bread and long dinner experience were the reasons I docked off a star. The pros of this place was that the waiters, chefs, and bartenders were all very friendly; the food also had great, rich flavors. They did a great job with hospitality, giving each customer a gift bag at the end. I thought the pricing was fair, although the nonalcoholic pairing was a bit overpriced. Overall, the food was delicious and the atmosphere had a cool vibe. I would come back, but the only thing I'd advise is...if they saw burnt bread, shouldn't they replace it? read more
