Once again Brush Pros did an amazing job transforming our property into a tamer, more fire-resistant landscape. Traditionally the process begins with George or Luke coming to the house to walk the grounds with me and discuss what I would like done, what needs to be done--based on their latest meeting with the local fire authority--and what can be done that is under their purview and takes into account the rights of neighbors and such. Amiable, professional, and well-informed, they are attentive to my questions, wishes, and concerns. They do a second, solo walkthrough, making a video that details everything that was settled on and is to be done by the crew that comes on a future, scheduled day. My favorite crew is Luke himself, the owner, and one or the other of his sons, who are both extremely polite and peaceful, like their father. Whichever crew comes, they are on time and effective. They leave the property better than they found it with plant debris all cleaned up and hauled away. I'm grateful for the service they provide and for the ease of mind I feel when I peer outside at the newly opened up spaces. read more

Great customer service and did a great job clearing the poison oak and ivy choking the trees.

Awesome Sauce! From start to finish these folks showed how PROS do it. The quote process was accurate and quick. The gentleman that did the quote process even showed up on the day of the work to address some questions the team had, the end result was a reduction in price! They did what we wanted, removing all of the visible poison oak, did not damage anything of the other plants and respected all of our requests. We will use them again to clean up the oak when it comes back and have them do some general brush cleaning to keep us fire compliant. We had multiple quotes, we were so happy we went with Brush Pros, would recommend them for all your brushy needs, buy local, support local family business, you can tell they treat their employees right, they showed pride in their work, and it shows. Thank you Brush Pros!! read more

We went through the process of finding defensible space clearing / brush clearing / limb trimming specialists in our area. Among the five outfits we had come to our place for an assessment were the brush pros. Each outfit was at a similar price point for the work to be carried out the difference was that The Brush Pros wouldn't remove anything that's cut down. Instead of removing, as our contract states with The Brush Pros it would be "processed in a discrete firesafe manner". Additionally The Brush Pros estimator came with an extreme glowing review of themselves. Photos and videos of past jobs and television appearances. The sales pitch was strong and enough to make them stand out and sell me on their potential to deliver. Unfortunately the work carried out fell well short of their fanciful self review. Brush to be cleared wasn't, the brush that was, wasn't disposed of discretely. I will say the work carried out close to the house was very clean. A tree was removed cleanly, the brush looks great. But that's where it ended. It feels like the team of one that came out may have ran out of time? Or perhaps the job was just too much for one person. Having called the office during the job, we were assured that one person is how they operate unless they need more. Doing the math, 1 hour driving, 6 hours work and 1 hour return drive comes out to a little over $300 an hour For me. Which is one worker. So it'd be worth keeping this number in mind when considering The Brush Pros. After speaking with the estimator on the phone. He was adamant they had completed their obligations despite not seeing the results in person. We agreed on a small deduction to the contract which was a drop in the ocean on what was a significant sum for a mediocre result. read more

I set up an appointment for an estimate with Brush Pros. George was on time, knowledgeable, and helped me assess the work I needed to do to better mitigate the fire risk around our home. Not only did he answer all of my questions, but he told me that Brush Pro's minimum service call would be more money than the work I needed to have done. I really appreciated his straightforwardness. He addressed my concerns, and didn't try to take advantage of the situation. I highly recommend this company. read more

My home insurance company threatened to cancel my insurance if I didn't create a five-foot vegetation-free zone around my house. Brush Pros knew exactly what to do, including all the required regulations. They did the job in 3 days, and were polite, thorough and reasonably priced. I give them the highest possible grade. read more

George and Josh did an excellent job removing poison oak from our back hillside. At our request they removed just the poison oak and blackberry from the hillside and left the other plantings in place. Their work was fast, careful, and affordable. Brush Pros is the way to go if you need help clearing out overgrown and nasty plants like poison oak from your property. They work with you to make sure the job is done the way you want it done. I highly recommend d them. read more

We've had BrushPros (Oakland Hills Brush Clearing) out to do weed abatement (including poison oak) and branch clearing (as needed) on a large area of the steep hill behind our house for about 5 years. And we will certainly continue to use their outstanding service. This year, Luke and Cody did the job, and they couldn't have been more thorough, professional, and friendly. I'm a big fan of BrushPros and give them the highest recommendation. read more

We hired Oakland Hills Brush Clearing to remove some poison oak from our property and, while they were there, generally cut back plantings after a few years of neglected yard work. The process could not have been smother. From the estimate through the completion of the work, I felt confident in the ability of the crew to do the job. The two man crew who did the work were courteous, professional, and let the job site very clean. I would not think twice about hiring them again and highly recommend their service. Great job! read more

We asked Oakland Hills Brush Clearing to come out and do a lot of work for us, including clearing poison oak, getting rid of the low hanging dead branches on our many trees, and weed whacking a lot of congested ground cover. We hadn't had that kind of work done in more than 20 years. ALL of the people we communicated with were professional, helpful, honest, realistic, friendly, and knowledgeable. When I say "All" I really mean everyone - from the office staff to the employees who did the work in the hills, including the managers, and George who came out to do the initial estimate and oversee the project. George also made some really helpful recommendations, especially about the poison oak, and we learned a lot from him just doing the initial walk through. They brought a large crew out and got all of the work done in 1 day, with a short follow up visit to do some touch ups. When I wrote to them about coming back out to square up a couple of things, they were again prompt, communicative, positive, and helpful. They were also positive and supportive to each other and it was really nice to see the collaboration and teamwork. I cannot recommend them enough!! read more

Excellent communication and service! Very fair prices and flexible dates. Very knowledgable team and we will definitely be using them again. George and his team absolutely went above and beyond to answer questions and explain everything to us, which was much appreciated especially as new homeowners. Can't recommend enough! read more

So I called this service to get a quote for clearing my small yard. After being on hold for 10min at 9:30 am on a Saturday, the lady came on the phone and after asking is this weed or brush clearing service, she said it's a MINIMUM $900 ! Didn't ask where I was or how big my yard was, Wow. So note to self, you need to own some land to make this place even begin to be worth it. read more

I'm giving them a 2 because they did the job. But "affordable", a word others have used to review BrushPros, must apply to some other service - or to some other universe. Unless, of course, you consider well over $500 per man hour to chop down my weeds affordable. read more

I have used them for many years, before they change their name. They are always 100% professional. Their equipment is very high end. It does not break down very conscientious about environmental issues and they show up on time for estimates and for doing the work, it is always a pleasure to have breast take care of our property. read more

Oakland Hills Brush Clearing also does irrigation work. They came and quickly diagnosed and repaired a problem with our irrigation system. They were easy to contact. Came quickly. These guys are amazing. They have cleared my property for the last two years. They respond quickly to requests for bids and schedule the work right away. Their field crews are prompt and super nice! I will continue to use and recommend them! read more

George was very professional, kind, and patient with all of the questions I had. They were very organized and used video recordings to communicate what exactly was needed to their team. My property is excessively steep and they put in a very competitive bid for the size of the lot and work needed - price was a little higher than I was expecting, but their transparent & quick communication as well as their professionalism on-site is honestly priceless in this day in age.  I'll take over a "cheap" price any day. These guys know what they're doing, and will work with the FD marshals to understand what needs to be rectified if something isn't in-spec after they're work is completed. Again.. another reason why going with a company this adept is priceless.   The gentlemen who performed the work were incredibly timely, prepared (tons of gear I didn't know would be needed, safety equipment, etc), and kind when I spoke with them. I'll certainly be using Oakland Hills Brush Clearing for years to come - the results of their great work speak on behalf of their reputation. read more

Really quick responses and timely work. I contacted them on Sunday, heard back on Monday and they were able to provide an estimate on Tuesday. They were even able to complete the work on Tuesday too. Pricing is straightforward. read more

I went to their site to ask for an estimate. It's now day 3 and I haven't gotten a peep from them. Guess they are too busy to respond. Good for them for being so busy. They should post that they aren't taking appointments. read more

Multiple neighbors in the Oakland hills recommended Oakland Hills Brush Clearing. Now having worked with them, I can confidently add my recommendation - and the highest one. We have used Oakland Hills Brush Clearing service for many years and they have always done a great job. They are fast, but thorough and we have always passed inspection. The recent winter storms resulted in greater than normal vegetation growth as well as a lot of eucalyptus debris on our property. OHBC did a superb job ensuring our property is clear of vegetation and provided defensible space around our house. We highly recommend OHBC! read more

Great job cleaning my hillside. They were friendly, quick, responsive, and the price was reasonable. Satisfaction guaranteed, Richard came back out after the initial visit to clean a few missed spots. I would hire him again. read more

Wow, I am so impressed by these folks: very knowledgeable and professional. The father-son team gave me a reasonable quote ($2,750) for a very difficult job -- overgrown vine in a steep canyon with trees and a creek running through it; in fact, others wouldn't even consider the job. It was scheduled for just a few days later and they came in with a small crew and completed the job within a day. Utterly amazing. Highly recommend. read more

I needed some poison oak cleared from a slope asap so I could get the surrounding fence repaired. The estimator came out quickly and clearly explained all the options. He took photos and video so the team would know exactly what we agreed upon. They were even able to come out and do the job that same afternoon and did an excellent job. Everyone was polite and professional A bonus is that we easily passed our fire inspection! I would definitely use them again. read more

I hired Richard to clean up my much overgrown and very large back yard in Berkeley (I wasn't getting any call backs or followup from multiple gardeners, yard clean up folks, etc.). Richard got back to my inquiry quickly, came out to take a look, gave me a reasonable estimate and a firm date, accommodated my needs around scheduling, and when the scheduled date came, he and his crew did an amazing, efficient, and comprehensive job cleaning up what I thought was a totally overwhelming job, but they made look very easy. I so appreciated their professionalism and competence. read more

I live in the Oakland Hills in the Piedmont Pines area. Every year I have to clear the brush and tall weeds from my property (which is on slope) for fire season. After clearing my yard for the last 3 years, I can definitely appreciate the amount of effort and quality of work that Oakland Hills Brush Clearing puts into their jobs. My backyard has never been so clear. I'm seeing features to the landscape that I never saw before. Richard and his crew did a phenomenal job, and had a lot of insight about which plants should stay, which ones should go, etc. The result of their work is very thorough and pleasing to the eye. It only cost a few hundred dollars, and saved me days of hard labor in the hot sun. Their service was exceptional. Both Richard and his crew were very polite and helpful. The job was clearly described on a map with sketches and annotations. They took care to cover up the neighbors windows with a tarp when they whacked the weeds on the side of my property (it's a narrow strip). They called to make sure they wouldn't be disturbing me while working from home one day. And when I pointed out a Scotch Broom that was hidden under another tree, they came right over with a chainsaw and chopped it down. I highly recommend Oakland Hills Brush Clearing. I'll be calling them back every year now. There's no way I'm going to clear that slope on my own again! :) read more

I learned about Oakland Hills Brush Clearing through another company that I trust. Their estimate was higher than I expected, but that is because they quoted me a fair price to go above and beyond the bare minimum. I had a deadline, and they had skilled, professional workers on site two days after I called them. They did a great job with the clearing. I'd recommend them without any reservations. read more

Called to get an estimate for our back yard/hill. Concerned that we might have poison oak and we were having a party with children in the next few days. George came out a few hours after we called. He gave a very detailed description of what needed to be done and what could be done in the immediate future. Very helpful and knowledgeable. read more

we were in a rush to get our yard cleaned up (weed, dead vegetation, etc) for a fire inspection since we had put things off a little too long. we contacted the company online, and Richard called us back very quickly. they were able to go to our house the same day and give us an estimate, and then they were able to take care of all the work the next day. and they were able to take care of all of this even tho we were out of town. i think we were lucky because they just happened to have a opening in their schedule to fit us in. they did everything we needed them to do in order to pass the fire inspection. read more

I give OHBC 6 out of 5 stars! They were very responsive from my first call through the end of the job: George walked my 3 overgrown lots, patiently answered all my questions & explained in detail the services the company could provide and gave me a very reasonable quote. It wasn't the cheapest quote I got, but they're insured and bonded, which is important to me because my hillside is treacherous and I want to be sure anyone working there is protected (and so am I!). They scheduled the job quickly and sent me reminders. On the day of the job, they ran into some difficulties (the hill is seriously treacherous!) and informed me that to do the work correctly, they'd need more time than they'd allotted. They worked until the 3 sites were completely clear and fire-safe - and, incredibly, they stuck to their original estimate! Every one of the people connected with this family-owned company has been awesome to work with and full of integrity. I give them my highest recommendation and look forward to working with them next year! read more

These folks provide top notch service, a great attitude, good pricing and they are a local family business. They arrived on time to provide a quote, were on time and schedule for the cleanup and transported all of the brush away leaving a clean and well groomed site. They also provided a guarantee that the site would pass inspection for fire compliance (it did) and I will be using them again next year. I encourage anyone needing brush clearing in the area to use their service. read more

I echo the positive reviews of Richard and his crew. He provided a written estimate and broke it into two parts as I could only afford the basic brush clearing. The crew was sent out within days of signing the agreement online and finished in one day. I have a steep downslope lot off of Shepherd Canyon in Montclair - not an easy job. The grass and weeds were chipped into a fine mulch. They protected the native ferns and trimmed the trees up 6 feet. The invoice was sent online and a reasonable amount of time given for payment. read more
