The food and service were absolutely amazing! We can't wait to come back for another date night. We wish we had taken photos of the food, but needless to say, our mouths ate before the camera did . The shrimp and grits were delicious and packed with so much flavor, and the pasta was just as incredible. Overall, Brooklyn Down South is such a great hidden gem in Buda, Texas. Great food, great service, and definitely a spot worth checking out!

Chicken and dumplings

This is a local gem in downtown Buda with Cajun flare. We've been a couple of times. The first time I had the portabella sandwich, which was delicious. This time I had their chicken and dumplings which was a good home cooked choice. I had a hibiscus refresher to drink, perfect for the heat.

First time visiting, and will not be our last! We got seated right away and our food came out quickly. Logan was our server and he was friendly, educated on the menu and gave great recommendations. Our food was 5 stars and the drinks were good too. I look forward to dining here again.

A new favorite spot for us to frequent now that we are near Buda. The staff was friendly, although somewhat absent minded with our orders. They made up for it with spot on quality food and drinks. They have an extensive drink menu and an above average beer listing, even if it didn't have anything for me. The restaurant has a nice vibe somewhere between sports bar and bistro.

Lobster Bisque

We were quickly seated and the service was great. The staff were attentive and very friendly This is a cute restaurant and has a nice vibe and we enjoyed the ambiance. We immediately ordered the Braised Short ribs as the menu said it took longer for this entree. So we ordered the Lobster Bisque. As soon as the bisque was brought to the table we were informed the short ribs were already ready. Since we just got the bisque we said hold the ribs until we eat the bisque. The bisque was tasty but it seems the recipe was different than I had had it a few years ago. Seems it was less tomato based than before but no complaints. When we go the entree it was good but you could tell with the ribs that sitting under the heat lamp while we ate the bisque had dried out the ribs just a bit. However, they were good and the sides were great. I'm really liked the spicy roasted Brussels Sprouts and the mash potatoes were very good as well. Had we known the ribs would have been ready so quickly we wouldn't have ordered the bisque - it just kind of threw off the timing of the dishes Enjoyed everything and we will be back!

Today is hubby's birthday so we tried something different. This has been on our list for a year so we thought it was a great place to celebrate. Note: most items are ala cart. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and sat in the front of the restaurant with a great view. Kennedy was our waitress and she was so helpful! After patiently answering all our questions and sharing her advice, hubby went with the alligator bites, braised short ribs, red beans and rice, and Brussels sprouts. I had the lobster bisque and fried shrimp. It was so good! The worst thing on our plates were my shrimp and they were good! If you want to celebrate and have a nice dinner, you must try it!

Dr Pepper Braised Beef

We came here a few weeks ago for dinner. My fiancé got the Dr Pepper braised beef, which was very good. Definitely recommend that entree. I got the burger and fries which was alright. The crab stuffed avocado was solid quality wise, although I felt $18 for that and $17 for the lobster bisque was a little pricey. This is also in a solid location, in downtown historic Buda.

Great menu with lots of options. Get the painkiller, boudin balls, gumbo and shrimp and grits. Haven't heard of anything being sub par.

Our server, Logan, was very attentive and polite. The food was delicious! I recommend the mimosa flight and the fried catfish.

Food and service were below average. The ambiance and atmosphere were nice. Would not recommend without some improvements.

The meatloaf was dry and overly cooked. My wife had chicken fried steak and it was burned and tough. We won't be coming back!

One of Buda's gems, good food and drinks, friendly staff. Usually a short wait or none at all. In the middle of downtown/Main Street.

The food is very good, but it's very noisy. It's hard to converse with your dining companion because of the acoustics.

Delicious food; everything was made from scratch as advertised, even my husband's Mac and cheese. Best spinach dip I've had so far.

This place is really hit or miss. It use to be Budas heavy hitter before Mudbugs... no competition to Mudbugs

Everything was pretty delicious and the presentation was beautiful. The Catfish Beignets were perfectly crispy with a hint of sweetness, but nothing super special about them, just tasted like fried catfish to me. The Diablo Chicken Pasta was nice and saucy, but like the catfish beignets, was a bit bland so I needed some salt to up the flavors. The shrimp ceviche was very refreshing, delicious, and a solid appetizer that was packed with flavor. The Chicken Waffles was good as well. The chorizo gravy sauce that came with it, was different, but complimented the whole dish very well. Overall, the portion was a bit smaller than I'd like for the price that I paid, but the food was overall pretty delicious. Our server Michael was fantastic. Super fast, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the menu. A full bar, but didn't have Pina Coladas. Lots of tables and chairs to dine at. Clean restrooms and lots of parking. They have this huge fancy front door that threw me off a little lol.

Even then, i thought it was ok, especially for the price point. Stellar: First our server, Faith: she was super friendly, attentive and funny and made it a pleasant experience. Also, the shrimp tostada bites were killer - I could eat those all day. My wife's carajillo was perfect. OK: catfish beignets-the batter was well seasoned and crunchy, but it seemed like the actual fish needed seasoning as it was pretty bland. Grilled chicken sandwich was pretty bland too: the chicken was slightly dry and aside from the avocado, onion and tomato, there was not much flavor. Checked the buns to see if they were spread with an aoli but no, pretty dry. I thought Z Tejas was ok then and it's still ok and wouldn't be my first choice unless it's for happy hour where they have the shrimp tostadas on special.
