We were asked by my aunt to come by to have pizza at her place. She ordered the spicy pepperoni squared pizza with mushrooms and the classic New York Reuben. Finding a great NY pizza in Pasadena or in LA in general is hard to find. I stumbled upon this pizza joint while I was walking aimlessly on the streets of Pasadena. I ordered a slice of their classic NY cheese pizza just to compare if it is as good as the real NY pizza that I am accustomed to growing up in Queens. Tasty pie! I haven't had the pleasure of having a slice of NY pizza yet but if it's similar to what I had here I can't wait! We ordered a cold Rueben Sandwich and an 18" NY Classic Cheese pizza. My kids love pizza and they ate their slice as quickly as it cooled down (they don't like their food hot). Nice music playing in the background and Home Alone on the TV when we arrived. You can park in the structure across the street or down on the surface street meter parking. They have a handicap lift to get up and down if you need. Girlfriend and I decided to give this place a try since we like to spend money in our neighborhood. Place was empty on a Monday at 6pm. Should be the first sign to walk out the door and go to our favorite pizza place, Pie Life on Raymond. We ordered our food and instantly our presence seemed like a burden to the person working the register. It was obvious that everyone on shift was up to no good with every single tv blasting and blaring and lame 90s music going on, on top of that. Honestly it was kind of a hostile environment to walk into and quickly explained why the place was empty. We sat down got our food, one of the dipping sauces provided was empty, like literally just a smear of sauce in the container, was this a past guests leftovers? It was WEIRD, no one noticed when they picked it up Ito serve it that it was empty? We asked if it was normal for the tvs and music to all be blaring at that volume at the same time, the cashier turned it down then asked sarcastically if that was better? It was again strange as if what we were asking was inconceivable. We tried to sit and eat our food which was not very good but did seem fresh, as we sat there the music got louder and louder, and honestly if we didn't leave I would've had to have been institutionalized it was that unnerving. Who wants to listen to evanescence at that volume? and in 2026? just an absolute disgrace for a business that is trying to offer hospitality. The experience was such a low point for us that honestly this is a situation where I wish the owners would respond and offer us a refund. Can't go wrong with a pepperoni pizza, but the grandma pizzas are really fun too. They serve pizzas by the slice in store too. But since parking in the area is pretty crazy, I usually order delivery. Even ordering pick up can be a challenge, so either go there in person by foot or bike, or order delivery out if you're near by. We have a friend from New York who agreed the pizza is NY legit! So first off pizza is really good; this is a knock down n the service. Employees are good, no issues there, but I have ordered at this location via the website on 3 separate times and each time the pizza was not ready at the time it said it would be. Usually it is late around 15 minutes, this last time it was ready over 30 minutes past the time they said it would be. No issue with longer waits, just do not tell me it will be ready when it's not, especially 15+ minutes and parking in downtown Pasadena. In addition to the pizza not being ready near the times it's said it will be, I have called multiple times to order and ask about the pizza ready times and I have not been answered once. I am not sure if the number on the website is correct because I can never get through to ask if it's ready or not, or to order over the phone. Again, if the pizza is late that's ok, just don't tell me it will be ready and then have me wait an extra 15+ minutes for it and if the phone number (so I can ask before I go) is wrong on the website please update. It's a bit on the pricier side, especially for a whole pizza, but it's definitely worth it if you're in the mood for good Brooklyn style pizza. I ordered a half/half square pie for pickup and the total came out to about $36. To be fair, the pizza was pre-cut into 8 slices and each slice was incredibly filling, so the pizza lasted me nearly a week. I did half grandma and half spicy vodka. The grandma is their square pie with crushed tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil. But don't let the simplicity fool you! As plain as it may sound, the Grandma was the embodiment of perfect comfort food. The Spicy alla Vodka pizza on the other hand is a bit fancier and comes with spicy creamy pink sauce, mozzarella, jalapeños, ricotta, and basil. I wrote a review of Prince Street Pizza 3 years ago at the West Hollywood location, and I thought that pizza was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. Recently on Redditt, people were claiming that Brooklyn Square was better than Prince Street Pizza. So I decided to come here to see for myself. I got 4 slices of different pizza, and while they were good, they were not better than Prince Street Pizza. They were well crafted, good quality, sound ingredients that went into their pizza, but the damning thing was, there was something about these pizza slices that was unremarkable. Ordered the knickerbocker sandwich which has turkey and fried chicken and it was soo good! I am not one for sandwiches because I am a noodle girl, but I would come back for this sandwich again. My boyfriend ordered the peppermill turkey which he also agreed we would both come back for our sandwiches again. I tried the NY Cheese & Spicy Pepperoni Square. Overall, the dough was lacking for both. It was "stiff" & dry. The NY Cheese could have a bit more sauce. New Yorkers fold their cheese pizza and this one wasn't "flexible" on its own . It honestly reminded me of the dollar pizza places in NY. The Spicy Pepperoni flavor was a bit off for me. Similar to the Cheese pizza, the dough was lacking. We came around 3pm on a Saturday and it was dead. The place does accommodate handicap patrons since there are stairs inside. Brooklyn Square I would say is Pasadena's very good places to get pizza. I would say it is better than most places even in food rich Pasadena. They do have a number of speciality pizza both in Detroit style and traditional New York. We just get a simple cheese Pizza which runs about 26 dollars. It is enough to feed 4 people, it's a good New York style pizza. A good pizza to dip in ranch, service is very friendly. Lastly, they have a good rewards program if you end up coming multiple times like we do. read more

I was really hungry for a sandwich, specifically a New York style deli sandwich, and happened to walk to Brooklyn Square while traversing old town Pasadena. The space used to be a sushi store that was closed down for the longest time, so I was pleasantly surprised that it had changed to a Brooklyn style restaurant. I m did take out but there's plenty of space for indoor dining. Given the name of the restaurant I had to try the Brooklyn style shop pastrami, and a slice of pizza. They're still working on transferring their alcohol license so I grabbed a cream soda to help wash down all that food. The cashier was very helpful and providing recommendations and because I was the only customer for a while, gave me her full attention. I'll have to try their cookie next time but I think I will be coming back for another sandwich sometime soon. read more

Very solid pizza joint where you can buy decently-sized and tasty slices. I've only had NY pizza in New York once (and not in Brooklyn) so I'm not the last word on how these pizzas compare to ones from there. But I can say, that my family and I enjoyed the slices we got. We each got one slice of NY style cheese and one slice of the spicy pepperoni grandma. Both had crispy/chewy crusts and I would highly recommend both. Each slice was fairly big so one might have been enough had we not been so hungry. These slices are much bigger and imho tastier than the ones at nearby Pie Life for about the same price. read more
