We came to The Broken Oar and after being seating the cutest server ever, Bina, came to greet us. She was amazing, prompt and attentive! Melena was a fantastic waitress! The oar lemonade is amazing! I had the medallions and my friend had the brisket. Both were really good. Was told the burgers are super great too! If you are lucky there might be live music! We happened to come in on a Saturday and hear some local river raft guides sing some classics with acoustic guitars! read more

Hostess really needs some training in customer service. We needed spots for 18. She said I can't do that. We told her we were willing to wait, break up into tables of four, where ever and she still said she couldn't accommodate. Really? She finally agreed to add us to the waitlist but said she needed five names--again we told her no problem and gave her 5 names. Our waitress was great and there were 10 of us in her area. Other group got an impolite waitress. Unhappy that the guys who had been Jeeping took time to wash their hands. Made inappropriate comment to customer to not lean back in a chair cause they were expensive and would cost him a lot of money if he broke it. We tip well and aren't rowdy, try to be polite and nothing was said to her but I expect a little better treatment when I'm spending my hard earned money. This was the PERFECT place to stop in for dinner after a long afternoon hiking in Canyonlands with my boyfriend. I had a fresh raspberry + peach lemonade to start. I ordered The Oar Burger, and it was so juicy and packed with flavor. My boyfriend had the Pulled Pork Sandwich, and he could not stop raving about the tangy barbecue sauce and tender shredded pork. Its such a friendly atmosphere with outside games for kids, great music and an overall great ambiance. To top off the entire experience, our server Melena was an absolute doll. She was super attentive, had great recommendations & felt like a friend from the start. 10/10 will be back!!!! read more

I want to start off and say that the service was great!!! It's unfortunate that this place can't cook a steak. I ordered the Coulette Wagyu steak medium rare and it came out rare, it was red all the way through. So I sent it back, which I don't like doing because then it comes out overcooked and that was the case in this instance, partially well and medium well. The taste of the steak was off and I threw up half my meal in their bathroom and the other half when I got back home. I only ate it all, because I didn't eat since breakfast and was starving. Needless to say, I regretted it. The sirloin, which is what this cut is, is better at Denny's. Also, don't get the nachos, they are just glorified 7-11 nachos; chips, cheese sauce, and green onion. read more

Overdue review: Stopped by for dinner during my trip to MOAB. Every other place had over an hour wait and this was around 8 PM too! Broken Oar was good, the food was decent - nothing fancy. The wait was initially suppose to be an hour as well; but, that came down to be around 30 minutes! Score. I wouldn't call this a hot spot - but for the price, the amount of food and the attentive service, i'd say it was worth the 30 min wait time. read more

The Broken Oar is your typical All-American restaurant in Moab. It's the perfect place for multiple occasions. You can stop in after a day of hiking at Arches (less than a 10 minute drive) in your gym shorts and tee shirt. You can stop in for a nicer family dinner while on vacation. All in all, a pretty great place. For dinner I split the Southwest Chicken Sandwich. You really can not mess up chicken with pepper jack cheese and grilled veggies. The sandwich was not huge, but defiantly large enough to split between two people. For the side I had asparagus which was cooked to perfection. I did not realize until after I ordered that The Broken Oar is home of the sweet potatoes fries. Although my asparagus was great, I do wish I would have tried the sweet potato fries as someone at the table next to us got them and they looked amazing. Highlight of the meal was the free table salad and rolls that were brought out before our entree. The salad had fresh tomatoes and olives. The dinner rolls were fresh and warm. read more

This place was great! They were very prompt and had a wonderful menu selection. Our server, Bina was super helpful and personable! We had an option of outdoor seating and the view of the mountains was excellent. They did a great job of respecting social distancing and other covid-19 guidelines. The salad that came before our meal was nice and had a light Italian dressing. The drinks such as the iced tea and lemonade were massive! And they had free refills! This was a huge disappointment! The service was poor. We had to ask for refills to get one and only one. Tanda was not very on top and f it. The food was poor. I had the prime rib and about 60% was edible! My son n had the ribeye and again about 65% was edible. Super low end quality in there product in my opinion however the ice water was good! On September 9th I stopped by the Broken Oar for dinner. It was Tuesday evening and a little over half full when I walked in at 6 p.m. I was promptly seated upstairs. The decor was pleasant exposed wood like a log cabin in keeping with its western theme. The menu is varied with a nice selection of dishes at a variety of price points. A full rack of baby backs was $18 but I ordered a New York Strip for $23. For $3 extra you can order seasonings and butter - something I chose not to do. I ordered the steak medium-rare and that is the way it came. Nice. I salted and peppered it and found it quite tender. It comes with a nice salad that was well seasoned and complete with onion, olives, tomatoes etc. I liked it. No bread! They do not serve bread with their steak. Included sides were red mashed potatoes and frozen broccoli (cooked). The potatoes were a bit gluey, but good anyway. The owner's wife bakes the desserts in house, so I ordered the peach pie ala mode. Unfortunately they do not carry ice cream. Odd. The pie was first class, made with fresh peaches and a great light crust. Yum! The Reasturant is back from the main drag so it is much quieter than many others. The swamp cooler upstairs felt good but did make some noise. Over all, this is a causal place with prompt friendly waiters. They served a good steak, but did not nail the sides. I liked the open atmosphere and will probably come back and try the ribs. read more

Cute restaurant not on the Main Street in Moab. First and foremost, from the host at the door who was very kind and accommodating to our amazing server Shay, we had excellent service. Shay went above and beyond making recommendations, letting us know the timeline of our food and was very friendly and upbeat. The sweet potato fries were out of this world delicious! One could almost eat them for dessert. Hamburgers had great flavor, even for the picky eater at the table. The beer battered onion rings were light and airy and simply delicious. There is fun and games to be had out front of the restaurant too. Super family friendly restaurant. I definitely recommend this place. Shout out to Brayden who works at the Anasazi Clothing store for telling us about this place. We've come to Moab every summer for the past 6 years and never even knew this place existed. First time to eat in Moab. The greeter placed us upstairs, though we preferred outside. Our table was under a massive air conditioner outlet. 1 minute later we packed up and moved to a distant table to avoid frost bite. Our food came and was tasty for 2 minutes, then it was cold. Yep, the A/C blasting away. We watched the young lady greeter place 4 other sets of people at the original table we were placed at. ALL OF THEM got up and moved to another table. How dense can you be. Obviously, the AC needs to be turned off in October !!! Waitress never came back to our table after delivering the meals. Great place to have dinner if you are in Moab at the time. I can tell for sure their Cobb salad is wonderful with fresh avocado. Also you have got to try the puller port dinner. It's to die for with potato salad and beans. Large portion and big chunks of port done perfectly. They even gave homemade lemonade with FREE refills no less. Atmosphere is mountain lodge. I found this place quite on accident, but I'm so glad I did. I was visiting from out of state and was actually driving to Wendy's (don't judge me) when I found the Broken Oar. I thought it looked much better than Wendy's, plus their sign said they were known for their sweet potato fries. Being a sweet potato fry connoisseur, I just had to try them. First, the staff is very friendly, but I found that to be true of everyone in Moab. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with the sweet potato fries. The sandwich was very good and I'm glad it came with Swiss (not bleu) cheese. But the sweet potato fries.... the best I've ever had! My server (her name escapes me, sorry!) told me their secrets, but I won't reveal them in a Yelp! review. You should try them yourself.
