Shay also gave us tips on visiting Arches National park. The restaurant is a unique building. We were seated upstairs which was a bit stuffy in the 100 degree heat but at lease it was not freezing with air conditioning that set too low. My husband enjoyed his pork chop meal. read more

Fantastic! My husband and I were in town visiting Arches and the front desk clerk at our hotel recommended The Broken Oar for dinner. We were super impressed with this restaurant. For starters, the lodge setting and rustic atmosphere is so nice, especially for those visiting the nearby parks. The food is delicious - we shared the Caprese Salad and the Cajun Honey Shrimp Salmon with an Avocado Three Bean Salad. So tasty! Lastly, our server, Rainbow, was excellent! She was very attentive and so friendly. We will definitely be back next time we visit the Moab area. read more

We came three days in a row to eat dinner here because I was so obsessed! The sweet potato fries are heavenly!!!! But the normal fries are seriously just as good! I also was obsessed with the western bacon burger! The staff is so nice! The first night we came was a Thursday and the service was smooth and fast. Then we came on a Friday and the girls trying to seat people were pretty frazzled. They put two girls who were both there for their first day of work and it showed. Not only was the food delicious and the atmosphere inviting but our waitress Jauna gave us the best service we've had in a quite sometime. I noticed the bill was a bit high but we were having fun enjoying our wonderful food and had great fun playing the yard games after dinner. If I could give this restaurant a zero-star rating, I would. The Broken Oar was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. If I had not eaten the meal, I would have expected my entire bill to be paid for by the business itself. First, our server, Branden, was incredibly rude and inappropriate. He kept calling women "babes" (including women not in our party), was sexually explicit (talking about women's bodies and making sexually charged stereotypes about groups of women), and had an all-around offensive attitude that made the entire experience uncomfortable. As such, we requested the bill early and left without finishing our food. I spoke to the manager about the server's conduct. One other coworker immediately knew who this claim was about, and indicated this to the manager. When confronted with how he behaved (in front of the manager, no less), Branden proceeded to laugh it off, saying that "it's fine most of the time." The manager did nothing to rectify the situation. I have *never* not tipped at a restaurant, but I couldn't stomach giving this server my money. Second, the food was mediocre. The Wagyu steak tasted as if it had been frozen. It was requested medium rare, but arrived cold in the middle. The server never passed by after we received our meal (except to point at me and brusquely ask: "is everything ok, babe?"), so we couldn't improve the experience. The ribs had no meat in them, and the asparagus lacked seasoning. Not worth the money, again. The management at this restaurant should realize that this server is a walking lawsuit. Abetting his behaviour will only land the business in hot water. read more

Would happily return to The Broken Oar for some satisfying comfort food. We enjoyed the pickle fries as an app. They were heavy on the salt but that's actually how I prefer it. Sis ordered the smokestack sandwich, which she devoured. The sweet potato fries were definitely sweet because they came with some sort of caramel drizzle on top. I ordered the chili lime salmon which was perfectly cooked, I'd get that next time too. Somehow we still had some room for dessert and decided on the chocolate tower cake. The menu said $12 but we were charged $14 so that should probably be updated. That was the largest slice of cake I've ever seen in my life. It was like a whole cake in slice form. I think we continued to eat it for two more days.... and it was delish. Our server Bina was very attentive and the hostess also went above and beyond. She complimented me on my purse as we were seated and then when I accidentally left my purse behind she kindly walked in the drizzle to my car to hand it off to me. read more

Overall amazing! So many great things about this place. Atmosphere, food, service, staff. Walked in the weekend after thanksgiving. Wait was 45 minutes and we were sat in 30. Ordered Medallions and Prime Rib. We went somewhere else for dinner the second night and regretted not going back to the broken oar. The food was delicious. I had the sriracha lime salmon. My wife had the pulled pork with sweet potato fries. I tried the orange strawberry lemonade. I loved it great flavor. Mickey was quick to refill both water glasses and the lemonade. I ended up having three mugs. Service was quick and efficient. We got there about five minutes after they opened which was good because after about 20 minutes it started filling up. They had a nice large porch eating area also and an upstairs. The decor was, but of course, broken oars. River rafting on the Colorado River has given them a great selection of decorations. The music was just a little odd. I told my wife I didn't see any staff that was born when the music first came out. Mostly 70's but a very good mix. Brought back memories. Definitely should try it. It was good and fun. read more

The atmosphere is pleasant, the food is excellent, and the staff exemplify outstanding customer service. In particular, we were cared for by Brooke one evening and Shay the other. No hand battering the cheese curds, fish or chicken. not crowded but 20 min to get our drinks and waitress did not write anything down and of course got it wrong. ordered the burgers medium rare , they all came medium well. ordered the house salad that Menue says come a with vinaigrette. waitresses brings ranch. I ask why ranch and she says "you didn't specify so I brought ranch". Goofiest service ever! We sat down and our order was taken promptly but we waited over 30 minutes for drinks?! Then when they arrived two of them they were out of....so the waitress brought a random one? Food was good and tasted perfect after a day of hiking but it took 20 minutes to get salad dressing, a second drink, and even longer for an extra fork. We 100% understand that everywhere is understaffed but not sure what is happening here. Very friendly and fast service. Asian bbq wings were very good but they didn't have blue cheese only ranch. I ordered the trout. The fish was fresh and delicious but the preparation was very oily with too much butter and topped with Parmesan cheese. Would be so much better if pan fried with crispy skin and no butter or cheese! Asparagus was fresh but swimming in butter so I didn't eat it. Husband had smokehouse sandwich and he thought it was very good. A good place to come eat after touring the parks, or in our case, after driving so long to get here! Decor is total cute mountain cabin theme. We were greeted and sat immediately. Very friendly and personable host/hostess. We started with some appetizers: fried pickles and flatbread with artichoke jalapeño dip. Both great. Next up was some bbq chicken flatbread pizzas, (yum!) and their regular salad along with a chicken finger basket with onion rings, which were fine. We didn't try any of the awesome-looking advertised beer or wine since we were too dehydrated, so we stuck with water. Mickey was our server, and we really liked him! He was so friendly, and gave good menu recommendations. He was attentive and made sure our waters were refilled. He didn't rush us, either, and for a Thursday night , it was quite busy. He was great! Overall nice local place: clean, decent menu, and really good service. If I had one tiny issue, it would be that the chairs in the dining room are clunky and heavy, hard to move and adjust in, and not very comfortable, but it's not a deal breaker. Come have a bite to eat and a drink here when you visit Moab!! The menu has a nice varied selection, and has an overall homemade vibe. Plus it beats having to go to chain restaurants for sure.
