I love getting their sweet potato casserole and eating it as a dessert at the end. However, when we went they hadn't had sirloin for over a month?!? Ordered: PHILLY CHEESESTEAK WRAPS Shaved Roast Beef, onion, red pepper and pepper jack cheese, wrapped in a flour tortilla and deep fried. Drizzled and served with creamy BBQ sauce and topped with chives. PARMESAN CHICKEN Briquette grilled chicken breast topped with mozzarella cheese, our rich Parmesan sauce and garlic bread crumbs. Lucked up and found this spot when I was hungry and actually wanted a steak. My medium rare steak was made perfectly and was juicy, tender and flavorful with no need for anything extra. Cheesesteak appetizers was on point as well. My server paid great attention to me while still serving the bar too. Seems like a really nice spot in a good location. I enjoyed dinner at the bar at Briquettes Steakhouse. My bartender (female) was extremely busy with drink orders, in diners, and lots of take out orders. Plus, the kitchen kept sending out wrong orders which complicated her job because she had to send them back. Yet, she remained calm, cool and collected. I told her she should apply as an air traffic controller! My Black and Blue Salad with grilled steak first came out as a Caesar Salad. But my air traffic controller immediately noticed the mistake, sent it back and in minutes my salad was corrected. Despite being so busy she was always so incredibly attentive to me. She told me about a delicious wine that was only $5 a glass. It was spectacular. She asked if I wanted rolls with butter, water, more wine. Watching her juggle all the aspects of her job taught me something important - remaining pleasant and helpful always wins. One employee can make a good restaurant far above average. The disaster started with the waitress continuing to insist we place our entire order at the beginning of the meal we said no. Our appetizer came she asked again so we gave her the order with the clear understanding to hold the order so we could enjoy the spinach dip. Not 5 minutes later the salads hit the table? Then before we could arrange the food covering the table our meal was served? Total dysfunction! The problem is cell phones. Every time we looked around our waitress had her face stuffed in her phone, the host was so engrossed in his phone I found him loafing in the men's restroom crapper (door open) on his cell phone. Over the past 2-3 years the meat is of a noticeably poorer quality, the prices have gone up but portions are smaller, and now they no longer serve sirloin!! I visited here because I was in the mood for beef after eating seafood for the last several meals. This location is sort of in an unusual spot but close to my hotel. I heard this was a former outback steakhouse. They close kind of early as well. I sat at the bar and tried their largest ribeye, well the largest on the menu. I overhead the guy next to me at the bar order a 16oz one for $34.99, but he got the last one. 12oz Ribeye - I chose medium rare with loaded baked potato and grilled broccoli. The steak was cooked correctly, but just overly spiced. The steak seemed a little low quality, maybe select or choice at best with more fat than usual that I had to remove. The broccoli was ok. The loaded baked potato was small and just average tasting. The service was okay, but the bartender was just serving so many people and handling to go orders too, so when it came time for a refill, that took several minutes for her to notice my glass was even empty. I did end up getting dessert because I was in the mood, and besides, it's hard to mess up a brownie a la mode. The brownie was actually the best part. I would not return based on the service and low quality steak. read more

We've been going to Briquettes since there was one restaurant in the original location on Scillinger near Target. It was very good then. Now, at least for this location, not so much. Our dinner last night was below average. My medium rare was well done and my wife's medium was rare. The sweet potato casserole was burnt. The restaurant looks old and tired. The tables are worn out and need refinishing. It seems that Briquettes has been paying too much attention on opening new restaurants, and not enough on keeping the quality up in the existing ones. read more

Today was our third trip to Briiquettes, Today we stopped at 901 Montlimar Drive. We were waited on very quickly. Our drinks were brought very quickly our waitress came back and asked if we were ready to order, I said we needed a couple of minutes. when she came back I ASKED if the shrimp special was spicy hot, no they are not they were in a sweet sauce. I told here I would take that. My daughter ordered a chicken dish. After some time we asked where our order was our wateriest ran off to find out where our order was. After other long wait I asked where out order was...She ran off again. this time she brought our food back. I was very excited to try the shrimp was going to taste..... I was able to eat ONE shrimp,,,,,,, It was very spicy! If a waitress does not know if a dish is hot they should not tell you it is not. Thank the Lord she had given me a glass of cold water. You should never go to this place if you are in a hurry. We stopped at around 12:00 and the place only had a few customers. When we asked for our slip it said we got there at 2:21 pm. Our slip said we had 4 in our party it was only my daughter and myself, not 4. In a place like Mobile where there is many great eating places you would think that each place would care about giving good serves. We went for my husband birthday and the experience was great. It was only 5 of us and there was a 20 min wait because they were so busy. Even though they were busy the place was really clean. No dishes left on the table and the bathroom was clean. We sat at the bar and had wine and a few cocktails. The bartender was super helpful with helping me select the wine. About 10 mins passed and they were calling us to sit at the table. The food... Chef kiss!!! Everything was cooked to perfection. The server was great too. I have been traveling all week for work and wanted a nice spot to relax, enjoy a glass or two of wine, and great meal. I am very happy with the food and service I received. I sat at the bar and Grace was my server. I totally relied on her recommendations for each course and all I can say is that it was absolutely what I needed on a Friday evening. From the potato soup, filet crusted with bleu cheese, and brownie everything Grace recommended was on point! Do yourself a favor and when you dine in, ask for Grace and trust her word! We have always enjoyed the Schillinger Location. The staff is friendly and efficient. The food however has gone completely downhill. The broccoli and salad tastes like it came out of a bag. The sweet potato casserole tasted old. We ordered fried shrimp and they only had cocktail sauce no tartar sauce.. The one thing we always notice is that the doors and windows are never clean. In our opinion that says a lot about the restaurant. We hate to see this because Briquettes was always our favorite restaurant! read more

Better than average food at a fair price with good service. We stopped here for dinner during a vacation trip. I had the NY strip, and my wife had the salmon salad. This is a fine steakhouse. I've never had a disappointing meal at Briguettes. My wife and I recently took her father to the West Mobile restaurant and we were all satisfied, with no complaints. However, my wife mentioned that the sweet potato casserole was, although delicious as usual, slightly soupy. I could not complain because my waitress, for some reason, mistakenly brought me two servings of the deliciously dessert like dish. I greedily consumed it all, along with my perfectly prepared, tender ribeye steak. My father in law, a man who knows a fine chow hall when he finds one, reported that he was well pleased, and that we'll have to return to this one again upon his next visit. It had been more than a year, at the least, since our previous visit, and we were pleased that, aside from the slightly soupy sweet potato casserole, the quality and good value of a meal at Briguettes Steakhouse has not fallen off any at all. read more

Excellent food. The spinach dip is absolutely delicious as well as the bacon wrapped filet medallions. My only complaint is that service is slow and the server didn't clear dishes as we finished. So my appetizer plate, and all the extra drink cups ( they bring a new cup for each refill) were all over the table and I barely had enough room for my entree. We started with 2 appetizers, the Asian Almond Shrimp and the Artichoke Spinach Dip. Both were wonderful and served hot and fresh. The shrimp dish was my first choice, it was different and not the usual shrimp appetizer. Saucy, yet crispy...so awesome. The dip was nice, a little looser than usual dips, but I didn't mind it. My steak was perfectly cooked and the blue cheese crust was way more than I expected! The quality of the meat was a level above. The crust was creamy, tangy and a nice touch that, believe it or not, did not over power the actual beefiness of the steak. They also served hot, fresh rolls that should be a sin. While visiting the Mobile area, my husband and I decided to try this restaurant based on the reviews we found. What a disappointment. We were sat fairly quickly since it was still early. We requested a booth and I ended up having to sit next to my husband since the vinyl seat across from him was torn and ended up snagging my dress. We ordered the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls which were drizzles with a tangy BBQ sauce. It was not appetizing at all. It would have been much better without adding the sauce. We each ordered a ribeye steak, medium rare and medium. The steaks were thin and pale with tendons and fat throughout the cut. It was a workout to actually cut through all of the tendons. My husband ordered the mac-n-cheese casserole and the sweet potato casserole, which was basically just plain mac-n-cheese and mashed sweet potatoes with bits of candied pecans. Nothing special. I got the sweet potato casserole and onion rings. The onions rings were pale, doughy and tasted like raw flour. I couldn't even swallow the bite I took. Even the free dinner rolls with butter were below average at best. It's telling when you don't ask for a refill on the rolls. Finally, let's talk about the service. It was awful! Our server was slow and non-existent for much of the time we were there. The ice in our glasses melted without being refilled. But that's isn't the worst part. The server touched the disgusting pitcher on my glass when he refilled my glass and reached across my husband nearly touching his face to put down the appetizer when there was no reason to do so. He definitely needs some training. On a side note, if you don't bring cash they add a service charge to use a card. Save yourself and find a different restaurant. read more

Although the bread didn't come out until I asked for it a second time, the service was good. The salmon salad I got was fresh and the prepared perfectly.
