The food was very good, but unfortunately the seating situation really detracted from the experience. Despite having a reservation for four, we were seated at a table meant for eight. Because the tables were so tightly packed, the server asked us to split up with two people on each side just so staff could pass through. This made it difficult to talk with the other couple we were dining with, especially given how noisy the restaurant was. It was also a smoky place seated near the kitchen. While the owner was very welcoming, our waiter was not particularly friendly or helpful with the menu. Positives: The actual food tasted good, though at least one dish misrepresented on menu (see below). The menu has some positive vibes and the mural outside is chill. The staff seemed to be very nice to the older people, which is important. Negatives: No woman's touch here, so the Brigitte name was almost ironic. Though I saw one woman in the back, the vibe is really all male staff. Two people having dinner, one entree came out twenty minutes after the other person's meal. No apologies or kind words, just plate thrown down. Staff must work on ventilation when it is hot there - we left the place smelling like cooking food, which is not what we want to feel when out dining. There's a listing for a pear and goat cheese salad, but the actual goat cheese was miniscule and must have been sliced with a razor blade since it was invisible. While the salad tasted good, there was hardly any goat cheese. No garbage can in the bathroom, which is a necessity. read more

After reading its reviews, we came with high expectations and anticipated that we'd love our dining experience. I guess we're outliers but considering the price and the hype, we were disappointed. We get that a bistro atmosphere is convivial but the noise level in the restaurant, which is small, was LOUD. Very loud. So loud that we gave up trying to have a conversation across our table. As for the food, well, mostly disappointing. The onion soup was good, nice and hot and cheesy. The black cod was well prepared but topped only with a pile of frizzy stuff that really didn't taste like the ingredients listed on the menu. Our other main course, the scallops, arrived lukewarm. The five scallops were cooked perfectly but the other ingredients were just okay and somehow the assorted flavors just didn't come together. We had the floating island for dessert. It was very sweet- a couple of meringue balls topped with caramel sauce surrounded with full sized cashews swimming in a thin custard sauce. I'm a dessert person and didn't want to finish my half. We dine out in good restaurants often, both locally and beyond, and usually find that we agree with the diners who loved their experience. Sadly, not this time. read more

We are so disappointed we let ourselves get scammed by this place. The waiter kept pressing us to add truffle to our dish and it never occurred to me that the truffle would cost 200% more than the actual meal itself. I'm so upset they did this to us. Will never be back. It's a real shame. The food was really excellent. The chef was amazing but the waiter was just derelict in their duty. They forgot one of our main dishes and then up charge us 200% on a topping for a dish which I find to be outrageous. Well, it might be a real value of something. Our dinners were amazing - started out with a crab tartar that was perfectly seasoned while my husband had the escargot. As a main I had the not to be missed Black Cod which I wanted to lick the plate clean while he had the Wagyu with Frites which was so filling he had to take some home. My better half has strong feelings about french onion soup, and Brigitte's is among the best she's ever had (meaning the soup itself is delicious, and not overwhelmed by the cheese). The menu, entrees in particular, changes seasonally. I've had something different each time. The owner and his team are as advertised, genuinely welcoming. And the same kitchen staff seems to have been there from the beginning, which is always a good sign. This restaurant is a must go to. My wife and I have Celiac, a gluten allergy, and we are completely safe eating here. Just tell the owner or waiter and they will guide you through the menu. The owner will actually stay in the kitchen and monitor the preparation of your food. We started with French onion soup. Absolutely the best I've ever had. Completely safe from gluten. The croutons were left out. I then had the Steak Frites, the fries are prepared in a fryer that has no gluten, everything cooked in the fryer is gluten free. This dish was beyond perfect. Especially the sauce. So good, meat cooked perfectly. My wife had the scallops, amazing dish. She loved it. We finished with a delicious cream brûlée which is prepared at the table. Also delicious. The resturant is exciting, great vibe. I recommend having a reservation, but if you're waiting for a table there's a good chance the owner will pour you a glass of wine while you wait. We dined at Brigette Bistro for the first time. It was absolutely wonderful. We were greeted by a welcoming woman and seated quickly. While we waited for our two friends to join us, bottled water was brought to the table. Our waiter took our wine order and after returning with the wine took our order. My husband and I had the French onion soup. Very good. For entrees, he enjoyed the duck confit which he declared perfectly prepared. I had the special mussels with frites. Excellent. We shared the pistachio tiramisu that was assembled table side. So fun to watch the waiter create the beautiful dessert and then savor the creation. The restaurant was very busy, so the noise level made it difficult to have a conversation with our friends. There was a lady playing the piano which was nice touch. It definitely was an energetic environment. We thought the service was stellar and felt like the owner really was happy to have us enjoy his incredible food. We had our first dinner as a family there tonight! It was superb! The five of us shared escargot and marrow, the tuna tartar, the salad lyonnaise and the goat cheese and pear salad. All of them were delicious and great to have a bit of this and that... For entrees we had the steak frites, the lamb shank, the scallops, the duck, and the special tonight, mussels and frites.Every one of them was so well prepared. As we are a sharing family we all got to try several, and I'm not sure what was my favorite. It was so hard to choose. For dessert, we did the chocolate fondant, the crème brûlée, and the tiramisu. Again, we shared a lot of spoons. I can say the present on all three was excellent. The service throughout the evening was friendly and professional. My son had a nonalcoholic beer my daughter-in-law enjoyed the viognier and I had a French Chenin Blanc and a GSM with my duck. The wines were very well chosen (and that is from someone with an extensive home cellar). The restaurant is small and a bit crowded but that seems to add to the charm. The seating was uncomfortable, the food was very very salty and the portions were small. I ordered the special and they did not tell me the price, It was fillet mignon, it was a tiny piece of meat, maybe 1 1/2 ounces at the most and I couldnt even finish it because it was so salty. Brigitte Bistro is an absolute gem. If you went to the bistro in Paris, you would be thrilled. From the warm, genuine hug greeting from the Chef, Nick Ronan, to the ambiance, food, and service, it is one of finest French bistros in the Bay area. I had the best steak frites ever with the absolute best Bernaise sauce I have ever had. When our French waiter asked if I wanted my steak medium rare, I said "no, bleau!" He said he had just the steak for me. It was perfect. My wife and I shared the Lyonnaise salad. It was a bit different as had escarole instead of frisse and had tomatoes in it. It was absolutely delicious. My wife had the halibut that was outstanding. We had a lovely bottle of Provence Rose'. Oh yes, special shout out to the best frites ever. I cannot wait to go back. Nick Ronan is a delightful host/chef. It turned out he didn't have a record of our reservation and he made us very comfortable and secured a table for us within 15 minutes. As for the food, however, I have to disagree with most of the other reviews. My wife and I shared the leek salad and I ordered the scallops with leeks fondue, purple cauliflower puree, creme fraiche and garlic butter sauce. In both cases the delicacy of the scallops and the leeks in the salad were overwhelmed with sauces. I feel he is overdoing the surrounding elements at the risk of losing the flavour of the underlying dish. My wife had the sea bass and again the fish was fine but too much rich stuff on the plate. Finally the place is very noisy (i guess that's to be expected in a bistro). I really wish Nick success and if he moves a bit toward nouvelle cuisine we'd love to come back. read more
