We have been to Brigitte Bistro twice already and are definitely planning to come back again. The food is excellent, and they also have a very nice wine selection. So far we have tried a few different dishes. For appetizers, we had PÂTÉ EN CROÛTE AUX CHAMPIGNONS D'HIVER and ESCARGOTS AND MARROW BONE. My husband was a huge fan of the marrow bone. He said it was rich in flavor and had a buttery/creamy texture. For entrees, my husband ordered the WAGYU STEAK FRITES BEARNAISE and I got the Moules-frites featuring steamed mussels served with French fries. The Wagyu steak was slightly more cooked than we would have preferred, but other than that, it was juicy and seasoned well. My Moules-frites were AMAZING! The mussels were sweet, tender, and perfectly cooked, and the broth they were served in was absolutely out of this world. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Plus, we got some Della Fattoria bread with our meal, which is always a nice touch. For desserts, we tried: CHOCOLATE FONDANT - Brigitte Sea Salt Caramel Ice Cream: a perfect balance between rich chocolate and sweet, salty caramel. PISTACHIO TIRAMISU TABLE SIDE was the best! It was incredibly creamy, with a rich mascarpone filling and a wonderful pistachio flavor. And ILE FLOTTANTE (FLOATING ISLAND): the meringue practically melted in my mouth. This is the definition of a neighborhood gem. Restaurant is small, so reservations are an absolute must. The parking lot is small - we had to park across the street - not a big deal. We were warmly greeted by Chef Nick and had the most amazing dinner. Even though it was packed on a Friday evening, everyone on staff was super friendly and attentive. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection: French onion soup, escargot with bone marrow, moules frites, and wagyu steak frites. Food is rich - go hungry! I was hesitant about this place because it was French and I'm Italian! Well I was wrong!! We went for our 38th wedding anniversary last night! Greeted and seated right away! The inside is very well decorated and felt very comfortable. The restaurant had an open feeling and you could see the chefs in the kitchen! They have bar seating also! We got lucky because the special was Mussels in an amazing broth served with fries ! My wife had the Scallops and I had the Beef Bourguignon. Both were amazing! My beef was so tender and the broth it was in was amazing! I would have liked a little less broth and maybe some potato's or rice with the dish or polenta! Italian I know!! We popped in recently for dinner and really had a great time. Service was great - very friendly and accommodating! Since it isn't posted on their menu or site, the corkage for 750ml is $35. Not the cheapest in town but fairly reasonable these days. We started with the leek salad and a special appetizer tartiflette, a French Alpine comfort dish that was super rich and satisfying, especially on a cold winter's night! We should've asked the price first but it ended up being $44, which seems really expensive for an appetizer. The leek salad was cool and refreshing with a creamy dressing and some almonds for textural contrast. Highly recommend this if you enjoy alliums! For mains, I opted for the saucisson lyonnaise, which was really tasty with the mustard sauce. Pistachios added some crunch and the dried fruit added some sweetness and acidity. This is a rich, but well-balanced dish... and as you can see from the pics, they are absolutely not shy with the size of the entrees. My wife has the pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon. In retrospect, the tartiflette also had bacon so we should've had something else but still, the pork was incredibly tender, juicy, and well seasoned. The sauce was rich and complex while the apples added the necessary acidity. Overall, the food was just a lot more polished and enjoyable compared to our first trip. Now in terms of price - it's expensive. Two appetizers, two entrees, and one corkage was $200 before tip. This is a bit expensive to visit semi-regularly, so we'll likely come again for a special occasion! read more

Long story short, my wife requested a dining experience at Brigitte for her birthday. We'll let me tell you, it was indeed an experience. First, the steak tartare, that reminded me of the steak tartare that I used to have weekly at the Swiss Center in London back in the 80's. Just like at the Swiss Center, Brigitte also had that made table side for us. Brigitte's steak tartare is so good that I can still taste it just by thinking about it. Second, here came the culinary surprise... THE DUNGENESS CRAB appetizer. Please keep this on the menu, as I will come for this again and again. We should have ordered bread to wipe everything off from this plate. This has got to be one of the best crab dishes I ever tasted. Very popular venue. Definitely need to make reservations. They sat us under the air conditioner which was blowing cold air directly down on our table. I asked to move and fortunately we had an early evening reservation so they could accommodate the request. Our server was very kind and helpful throughout the entire meal. It was hard to tell whether we were being rushed or the bus boy was just obsessive compulsive. He kept appearing every five minutes to ask if we were done. The pro forma visit by the owner was a nice touch but I came for the food. We ordered salmon gravlax which came in a glass jar with elegant platform of bread covered with cucumbers to spread it on. Unfortunately we ran out and had to request the bread service. My guest ordered the duck and I had the scallops. The duck was ample but standard fare. The scallops had a nice sear and cooked to perfection but came in a soup like sauce that lacked flavor or texture. Based on the experience we passed on dessert. The wine list was comprehensive with great French choices at prices reflective of our tariffs. Next time I'll bring the wine. There is plenty of parking around the back you just have to know it's ok to park there. All in all there are better choices in Peteluma for the same price. read more

Absolutely amazing!! Michelin guide was started based on whether a place is worth the detour and let me tell you, this is a destination! It is THE best French restaurant in the entire Bay Area and worth leaving the San Francisco for. Everything was delicious starting with lyonnaise salad that's large enough for 4 people. The steak tartare is made right in front of you and it is so tasty and fresh. The beef bourguignon is the best I've ever had!! We're all still dreaming about it weeks after. The portions are large and you'll be happy with leftovers. Trust me! The price is so reasonable for the quality and quantity you get anywhere in the Bay Area. Don't skip the dessert even if you're full! For dessert who doesn't love a pistachio tiramisu that is made table side but my favorite is still the classic floating island, which is a classic French dessert of baked meringue floating in a pool of custard, or crème anglaise. We got 2 desserts for 4 and it was plenty to share. The space is so cute in a remodeled gas station corner. It's modern without being stuffy. The service is on point and warm and I saw a number of the patrons hugging the wait staff and owner. Ambiance - slightly on the lounge side Service - on a scale of 1 to 10 my server, Hassan, gets a 12! ‍ Why? His answers to my questions helped me choose - my salad choice of white asparagus with shavings of green asparagus and a dressing medium/lightt dressing that had a cool flavor of mustard seeds. - my choice of Waygu beef with Bernaise sauce. He asked if I wanted it medium-rare and I said hello no I want it rare and he high-fived me! - the white wine ought to be paired for the salad - the red wine that ought to be paired with the Waygu beef. He opened a new bottle at the table. Then he gave me a taste and I choked. Too raw! He poured a bit more and I was swirling but getting anywhere, so he jumped out and got a much larger wine glass and it a few minutes of aeration later it was quite nice. I don't remember ever getting that solution from anywhere I've been in the US or the rest of the world! His advice on the dessert is how he got the "12" rating. It was something that had "floating" in the name. The heart of it was a very light meringue that I've never tasted. Normally meringue tastes like cardboard to me. This version just knocked my culinary socks off! My wife had chosen to order the scallops and loved it. Whew... it WAS Mother's Day after all! We pulled in to the very small front parking lot which was already full shortly after opening. We stopped and were considering what to do when one of the owners came out to help and informed us that we could park in the adjacent lot. Very observant and helpful of him to do that for us. When we were seated another owner came by and shook our hands saying "Welcome Home!" They are genuinely happy and thankful for their customers and we could tell. The food: Délicieux! When looking for a restaurant this evening I came across Brigitte Bistro. This is by far is the worst and oddest restaurant that my husband and I have ever dined at. When reading the one star reviews they all echoed exactly what occurred when we at there Valentine's Day 2026. * The wait staff was very surly and did not fill water glasses or attend to finished plates. Tried to bring dinner entrees and cram them on the already space challenged table. * The owner kept coming by the table and butting in on our private conversations. * My husband got the beef bourguignon which honestly was very good. It ended up being both our meals after the dish I ordered , the lamb shank arrived tasting very salty and very tough. I know my lamb shanks as it is my favorite when cooked correctly. It should fall off the bone and not taste of heavy salt. It was uneatable. We were just going to put it to the side and deal with it after we shared my husband's dish. The owner though came marching over and demanded to know if something was wrong. We politely told him it was too salty and was hard to cut. Holy Smokes !! He yelled at me and said, No it is not! I simply said, yes it is. He made a big production of taking the plate and March through the restaurant yelling and slammed it down in the counter. After that we just wanted to get the hell out of there! We paid and went right to the car. Mind you we still tipped 20% as we did enjoy the beef dish. The owner came charging out to our car and I was in the drivers seat. I did not wish to roll down the window but did. He wanted to shake my hand. I did not want to shake his hand when we came into the restaurant (guess I was lucky that he did not hug me. He was throwing his arms around everyone all night that walked in!) and I certainly did not want to speak nor touch him again when we finally got free of there. Chef Nick Ronan says,"Welcome Home" when you arrive. I love that. The tables are comfy and eclectic. I started with the Pate en croute au champignions d'hiver, which is chicken, duck, pork, winter mushrooms, with pistachio pate in a pastry dough. It comes with a small salad and a whole grain mustard that pairs beautifully with it. Then I ordered the Humboldt Fog Goat Cheese gem lettuce with shaved pear salad and for the entree the seared scallops with purple cauliflower puree, salsify chips, leek fondant and a creme fraiche, garlic butter sauce. Where Paris meets Petaluma and my stomach starts speaking fluent French After a full day of wine tasting and a few too many "let's get a bottle" moments, my wife (the refined palate behind every good decision I pretend was mine) made a reservation at Brigitte Bistro. We'd heard this place was small, intimate, and buzzing with energy, so naturally I assumed I'd be the loudest one there. I was wrong. The place was packed and buzzing like a beehive with an espresso machine. We walked in, and I was hit with the sound of laughter, clinking glasses, and the unmistakable aroma of melted cheese doing its life's work. The vibe? Chic, open kitchen, a little noisy, full of happy people... basically the culinary equivalent of a really good group hug. We were seated smack in the center of the room, a perfect vantage point for people-watching, food-watching, and wondering if I should've worn pants with more give. We started with a round of wine. I went red (because beef was incoming), and my wife, ever the elegant strategist, went white. Her glass smelled like crushed citrus and confidence. Mine had notes of ripe plum, old oak, and a whisper of "you're gonna need bread for this." First course: * ONION SOUP GRATINÉE: A crock of rich, caramelized onion broth, bubbling with molten Gruyère, and cradling buttery croutons. One bite in, and I swear I heard the Eiffel Tower whisper, "Welcome home, mon ami." * LEEK SPECIAL: My wife's starter was a plate of leeks lounging in a luxurious cream sauce. Light, savory, and herbaceous. She said it tasted like springtime. Main event: * BEEF BOURGUIGNON: Folks, if love had a flavor, it would be this. A tender pile of slow-braised beef soaking in a velvety red wine-port broth, balanced with sweet pearl onions, earthy beech mushrooms, and baby carrots that had clearly been raised with care. All of it spooned over a dreamy parsnip purée. It didn't just hit the spot, it bought the spot a drink, told it it was beautiful, and waltzed it across the room. I briefly considered licking the bowl, but I didn't want to make my wife reevaluate her life choices. We were tempted by dessert, especially the PISTACHIO TIRAMISU TABLE SIDE, which came with its own floor show, but we decided to let the meal end on a high note. Besides, I didn't want to risk unbuttoning my pants in a place this classy. Next time, dessert is happening. Probably twice. Final notes: Service was stellar. Pacing was perfect. The ambiance was warm and romantic but still lively. My wife was glowing. I might've teared up, or maybe that was the onion soup. Either way, we left full, happy, and already scheming our return. The food was mostly very good. The service was sub par. The environment was smokey and loud. The owner is very friendly and passionate about his craft, which I respect. When I sent back my fish for being overly salty he told me that they don't add salt, only lemon zest. This was such an obvious lie, I considered it insulting. The wine list was well curated, and all the wine I tasted were delicious. The meat and cheese appetizer was huge and incredible quality. Excellent pairings on this board. Especially the Humboldt Fog and Honeycomb. The server forgot to put in our order for French onion soup, which is not only my favorite, it's also one thing I've heard was particularly good at this restaurant, so I was really looking forward to it. I felt an enormous letdown when we waited for 35 mins between our appetizer before our entrees came out with no soup. There was no quality check to see how our dinner was. Instead I waited for 15 mins till someone came by to ask me if I wanted a box for the salty fish I didn't eat. I can tell the owner cares about his business and he tried very hard to be nice about it. I appreciate his efforts, but this was an anniversary dinner for my wife and I. It left me thoroughly disappointed. I would go back and give them another shot, but honestly, given the embarrassing wealth of great restaurants in town, I'm not sure I will return any time soon. read more

Oh La La‼‼‼ Having grown up in French-speaking Montreal, I do find great & AFFORDABLE French cuisines are hard to come by. THE go-to benchmark dish for me is: the French Onion Soup (Soupe à l'oignon française) with lots of fromage gruyère Crispy toasted baguette pieces inside, that's French soup food at its best! The escargots were delicious, along with lots of other genuine French yummies. However, THE best part is the Chef Owner who's always there to greet the customers in an open kitchen format. And on an average of $55-$80/person along with a Petaluma scenic backdrop, what can be more romantic. read more
