what you WON'T get here is an order of deviled eggs and trout roe plated nicely on a cutting board. what you WILL get here is your momma's good ole homemade brunch done well - REALLY well. bacon, sausage, eggs, griddle items...all classic, all delicious. can't elaborate too much more on these timeless foods that everyone knows, but i will say that: 1. you NEED that large coffee (it's humongous) and 2. the pancakes are seriously THICC. bravo to the staff as well. we annoyingly changed the # of people from 5 to 6 to 7 (oops), and they were nothing but accommodating. didn't even take a sec before they stopped to merge some tables together from opposite sides of the room. i cryyy. tastiness, reliability, and efficiency all for under $10? brighton cafe, u blow my mind. read more

I wanted to like this place so badly that I came back a second time today, after a first terrible experience. Sadly this is just a gross place. The food is average if not subpar, but the place is just plain filthy looking and that's just the main room. Who knows what the kitchen/back of house looks like. I'm guessing they stay in business because the food is dirt cheap, but you're literally dining in a dirty ancient cafeteria that looks like they've never considered putting an ounce of effort into its appearance. Today's experience in particular is one that assures i'll never dine here again. I ordered two sunny side up eggs with a bagel and what I got was raw eggs that were cooked for maybe 20 seconds and barely holding together on the plate. It took me a while, but when I flagged down the waitress I asked that they simply cook it for a while longer. She responds nicely and approaches the chef's window with my plate. I then watch as the chef struggles to get the eggs off of the plate in one piece, probably because they were raw, and instead he threw the plate in the microwave. The photo below is what the eggs looked like after they were given to me the second time. I chose not to eat them and instead ate the stale bagel that tasted like cardboard and left paying for the entire meal. So, the moral of the story is simple: if you're reading this review hoping NOT to get food poisoning, I wouldn't dine at Brighton Cafe anytime soon. read more

Brighton Cafe - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Brighton, Massachusetts

this place is great. they got coffee. they got donuts. and that's all I need out of a breakfast cafe. it's never really that busy and the service is always pretty fast. if you like corned beef hash get it in an egg sandwich with a crossaint. freaking amazing and worth every calorie. not many non-donut shops can do donuts well either and here i've always had a great experience. the chocolate glazed passed my test of standards and I also really enjoy the sugar donut as well. very solid. if you haven't already downloaded the level up app for your smartphone, do that right now. it makes paying 10x easier and the small businesses don't accrue heavy credit card fees. brighton cafe is definitely one of my favorite places to use it at. read more

One of my favorite places to get food in the area! Classic diner fare and great prices. Everyone is always so friendly when I walk in! I love the Big Five breakfast (I always get it with Irish sausage -- one of my favorite things on the menu). I also love their iced coffee and iced tea. read more

Brighton Cafe - Irish Breakfast and Steak tips from Lunch menu - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Brighton, Massachusetts

OK, I love this place. It is a straightforward diner. What you see is what you get. It's CHEAP for the amount of food, and the quality is good enough that I can't complain (too much). If you show up at 10 or 11 a.m., you'll be waiting a bit. Go early and it's so peaceful. The place is open and fairly clean, a little noisy depending on how many people are there. Window seats are best. The potatoes that come with practically every plate are okay (ask them to cook them extra, and sometimes they remember) and the toast comes with completely tasteless butter. But they have plenty of sauces and jams and whatever to fill that void. Coffee is standard diner coffee. Love it. The omelettes are very customizable, and their grilled muffins are great. read more

Great good, good service, awesome prices. Had the Irish breakfast which was wonderful. My daughters had the five and one, which had a great combination of flavors. The hot cakes were nice and fluffy and the Irish sausage was very tasty! Warning it is a hole in wall. read more

The food was excellent and the service was friendly. And the price was extremely reasonable. It was my second time going there and I will definitely return. read more

Affordable, high quality breakfast served by a quick and nice waiting staff. 10/10 recommend

Your convenience corner breakfast place. Asian owned, and food were on point and lotsa locals and students come. Reasonable prices and again, very convenient to all transportation. Parking could be hard to find but it's doable. read more

Stopped in after a long red eye flight. Burnt eggs with a steak that was more rubbery than a wetsuit and a burnt omelette. Donut was dry and stale but we ate it because we were hungry. The place is grubby and the food was awful. If I could give negative stars I would. read more

Easily the best breakfast in Brighton. The staff is always friendly and prompt, and I've never waited longer than 10 minutes for the (delicious) food. Not only is it delicious, it's also super cheap. My boyfriend and I stop here at least a couple times a month and have never been disappointed. It can get a little busy on a Saturday morning/afternoon due to all of the college kids, but you'll never have to wait more than 5 minutes for a table. Long story short, this place is amazing. read more

yummy breakfast sandwiches at the best price in town with the best family running the place. 10/10 no notes

Terrible service!!! I ordered pancake with fruits on it. After 20 minutes of delay, they brought it in package with no fruits. When I asked that I also paid for fruits and want the pancake on the plate - they just moved it onto the plate and brought some jelly instead of fresh strawberries I asked to top it with. After paying for all that I just left the order as it is and left the cafe. Never again! read more

Is this a place to bring someone for a fancy brunch date? No. Is this a place to get cheap, quick, filling breakfast? Absolutely. Brighton Cafe is the definition of no-frills. It's a local diner that caters to everyone (mainly college students on a tight budget - guilty). Their food is quick and delicious. For less than $10, you can fill yourself up until dinner. They offer a breakfast special called The Big Five. 1 pancake, 1 piece of french toast, 1 egg, 1 choice of meat, 1 order of home fries (order them well done; trust me). $6.95. That's all. On top of that, they have all of your typical breakfast offerings, fresh pastries, and some lunch items. Don't be surprised if you walk in on an early Saturday morning and see people eating buffalo chicken tenders. They've developed a cult following for good reason. It's also worth mentioning that their coffee is always hot and fresh. I don't know what they do, but I could drink it by the gallon. Pair that with one or two of their $.85 donuts and you have a breakfast for less than $5. I will never stop coming here. read more

Extremely pleasant, food is simple yet really good for a dinner, I love the onion rings and the pastrami is great. Prices really cant be beat, the servers are very good but dont bother you any more than strictly necessary, perfect for when you are nursing a hangover. read more

I take breakfast VERY seriously, and this place has completely won my heart. 1. It's wicked cheap. This is the most important reason and therefore, #1. You can't afford NOT to eat here. 2. The iced coffee should win an award. Dunks and Starbucks dream about making iced coffee this good. I would hop on the green line willingly and happily just to grab an ice coffee from here, and have done so in the past. 3. THE BANANA PANCAKES. You need them in your life. They make them with huge chunks of banana in the center. Game-changer. 4. The #5 has perfect portions. ONE pancake, ONE piece of french toast, and just enough hash browns, eggs and sausage (or whatever your brekkie meat preference is) to cure your hangover but not make you vom. I think this could be described as a "glowing" review, but I will say that one time, and only one time, we waited for 15 minutes before the waitress paid attention to us. And yes, it hurt my feelings. But a one-time fluke is not enough to deduct a star from this review. The Brighton Cafe and I are involved, and that's how I intend it to stay. Go there this weekend, I'll be at the corner table. read more

What a cozy little cafe/diner right here in Brighton. It was walking distance from my brother in laws house and he said it would be a solid spot for breakfast and lunch. Typical diner menu, prices were extremely affordable. Since it was the day after Xmas the place was wide open and we were seated immediately. I could see this place getting slammed with business, I know there is a lot of students in the area and their menu is super affordable. I ordered the Steak and Eggs which also came with choice of toast and home fries, all for $9.50, solid deal! The portion was huge for under $10. Solid 4 stars for value, portion, and expectation. read more

Since I moved to Allston in 1999, I've watched my standards for food, dry cleaning, apartments, dates-- pretty much everything--gradually, and now sharply, decline. God help me if I ever give that dirty roast beef joint on the corner of Harvard and Brighton Avenues a five-star review, extolling the subtle but flavorful blend of grease, salt, and unwashed hands. Sadly, I feel that day coming. Brighton Cafe is a place to go for a Sunday afternoon breakfast when you don't want to be home, don't want to go far, every place else has stopped serving breakfast and you really want pancakes and coffee. The food is mediocre but the prices are reasonable so I guess you get what you pay for. The service is OK (I always have a book) and my fellow diners are a mix of students and locals. This afternoon, I wasn't too happy to see a guy sleeping at a table in the back--I think he might have worked there. Even for a greasy spoon, I expect a baseline level of professionalism. Brighton Cafe looks like a family business and college for the kiddies doesn't come cheap. I guess I'm happy to help the next generation get enough education to realize that they'll be better off punching someone else's clock rather than slaving for the family. read more

Now that I've moved to Brookline, this has become a go-to breakfast spot on the weekends. The prices are dirt cheap ($4 for two eggs, potatoes and toast!), the dishes are good quality, and the service is friendly. This diner is the kind of pleasant, no-frills experience that everyone should have in their neighborhood. Occasionally there can be a wait to get seated (it is a popular spot), but it's relatively fast food so the tables turn quickly. Pro tip: Get a smoothie here; they are freaking delicious. read more

It's a diner, it seems like most of the other reviews were expecting something different, but what you'll get is just that, diner food. I like it okay here. Quick service, decent breakfast, friendly staff, and *very* affordable. The iced coffee is really delicious (read: full of sugar) and they make a killer grilled cheese. If you live in the, its definitely worth becoming your weekend spot to grab a quick breakfast. If you're looking for something more sophisticated, head to coolidge for Zaftigs. read more

First: someone please clean this place. Second: No butter means no butter.. please do not glop it on my toast and when I send it back, don't pout! I mean it. Third: Why would you close at noon on a Saturday?!!! Fourth: Why are you closed when I get home from work on a weekday? Fifth: When are you *actually* open? Sixth (oh, gosh, I really hate math): What's with all the plasticware? Why can't my water be in a glass? Why is it in one of those fake-glass looking red or blue cups that I used in sleepaway camp? Seventh: How do you not have any soup, ever? read more

Michelin star cuisine it's not, and the decor certainly leaves something to be desired. HOWEVER -- the food is good, the family that runs the place is friendly, and their coffee is delicious. I live right around the corner, and I usually find myself here a few days a week, even if it's just to grab a cup of coffee and a blueberry muffin before getting on the T. Favorites include the Greek omelet with extra feta and the french toast. They reason they get five stars is because of the PHENOMENAL price/performance ratio this place has. You get what is an objectively good quality of product and service at a price point that makes you feel like you should be washing a dish or two after your meal or at least bussing your own table. Another big plus: no one looks at you twice if you come in at 11am on a Saturday looking like you rolled out of bed into yesterday's outfit and zombie-walked straight out the door! read more

Yes... I call this place "Breakfast All Day" - they have a massive sign in front of the building with this written on it, that is actually bigger than the sign with the restaurant name on it. Great b-fast place. Relatively cheap, fast service, delivers the basics, and good good. No frills here, but thats what great breakfast places are all about. People actually show up in their PJs - awesome. Only bad thing is the parking - ugh it takes forever to find a spot. Everything around it is basically res-only. This place is the perfect hang-over killer on a saturday or sunday whenever you wake your ass up. read more

My boyfriend and I like to have Sunday brunch at this cafe. The French toast is delicious and their home fries are my guilty pleasure! Only complaint I have is the service. No one acknowledges you when you walk in. We have to try to flag down a server to let them know we would like to be put in queue to be seated. There is always a long wait and there is no place to stand inside and wait where you won't be in the way of customers trying to exit the restaurant. I've had to speak up a couple of times when someone that came in after us was being seated before us...they don't even pay attention to that. The waitresses offer poor customer service, never look happy and are a bit unkempt. But if service isn't your top priority and you're looking for a place to have a tasty breakfast, this is your place! read more

Pretty good. It's your standard greasy spoon diner, now free with undergraduates. Having moved across the river from Cambridge, everything has it's Cambridge counterpart. This one is not as good as good as Mass Ave restaurant, but it's even closer than that was to my new home. It's always good to have a place you can roll out of bed and go to. read more

I love Brighton Cafe. Is it the cutest breakfast/brunch place in Boston? Nope. Do they have the most eclectic eggs benny you've ever seen? Certainly not. BUT are their simple breakfast meals, sandwiches, and omelets cheap and solid? YES. In a city where two eggs, meat, and potatoes will normally cost you $10+, this place will give it to you for $4. $6 Greek omelet with toast and potatoes? Yes please! Breakfast sandwich on the run to the T? You got it! They have found the way to my heart: cheap, filling food and friendly, quick service. read more

I'm a big fan of Brighton Cafe, and I'll be very sad to have to say goodbye to this place when my girlfriend moves out of Brighton. This was always my go-to place for a nice flavored ice coffee before heading to catch the Green Line. Their coffee is always really tasty, and fairly priced. The food is actually delicious and flavorful as well, especially the breakfast sandwiches. Considering this is one of the best priced breakfast/brunch spots I've found in the city, you wouldn't expect the best quality, but that isn't the case. Kudos to Brighton Cafe for not skimping on quality, while still keeping things affordable. read more

This is a very basic diner, not a cafe. It's inexpensive and right by the Washington Street T stop on the green line so perfect if you want to head downtown afterwards. Whenever I'm in Brighton I normally stop here for a quick coffee and croissant and then head into Boston by the green line. You could probably make a more culinary inspired meal in your own kitchen but I'm a fan of the unbeatable prices and the food also comes out quick. A great option for mornings you are either hungover or running late and need a quick bite. read more

I have lived less than one block away from this place for over a year, and Sunday was the first time we ventured inside. Now that has to say something about it. The place is fine. Serviceable. It's bright inside, and chilly every time the door opens. The entire place seems to be run by an Asian family. They could be a little friendlier. My BF and I spent our entire breakfast talking about small changes they could make so they have a line out the door on Saturdays and Sundays like the Breakfast Club in Allston. Maybe some music, a paint job, some more original breakfast offerings. I felt like if I ordered an omlette, it would have nacho cheese in it. The food was fine. The homefries had a tabasco-y flavor to them that was actually kind of nice. My egg sandwich tasted like one I would have made, except the bacon was even more delicious. That's what made this place stand out - the bacon. I wonder if you could go in and just order a few slices. There's one of those auto-espresso machine thingies that makes a passable latte. Anyway. In the future, I probably won't remember to go here. Breakfast club is yummier and with more options. Or Cafe Nation, my perennial favorite. read more

This diner-esque brunch place is at the intersection of Washington St. and Comm Ave., right where the T stop is. I live right down Washington Street and would pick up a breakfast sandwich and an iced coffee on my way to the T. The owners seem to be a friendly Vietnamese family who are efficient in their order-taking. I've been there a few times now, and they seem to remember what the regulars always order. I've only had breakfast sandwiches (ham/sausage, egg, and cheese on English muffins), so I can't speak much more than that. However, those sandwiches are absolutely delicious! Freshly prepared (which might take just a teeny bit longer than I'd like - I usually see two inbound trains pass by before my sandwich is ready), the egg is a wholesome well-done, instead of the powdered eggs that other cafes would sometime offer (Starbucks jumped to mind). But of course, this is a full-service restaurant, so the expectations should be as such. The iced coffee is absolutely delicious. I've always ordered with half amount of sugar with cream, which is not too sweet and just the right amount of caffeine for 7am in the morning. I saw in the reviews for Mirror Cafe on Chestnut Hill Ave. and Washington St. that it is owned by the same owners as Brighton Cafe - which would explain the same efficiency and deliciousness. The price is really fair as well ($4+ for breakfast sandwich with small iced coffee; $9+ for a combination breakfast with medium iced coffee). Both places are worth waking up 10 minutes earlier before work to grab a bite to eat! Note that it closes by 4pm on most days. read more

This place was really just okay. I love coffee and WiFi as much as the next person, but this was far more generic than I thought it would be. I mean, diners should have some character. And I'm used to the cookie-cutter look of Brighton, especially by the T, so I was hoping for a little bit of something special. Well, notsomuch. This place is serviceable if you're starving. Otherwise, I would rather make an omelette at home and brew my own coffee. It's way more worth the money. read more

Simply put, Brighton Cafe is great. Its just what you would expect from looking at it. The place is pretty plain, and there are definitely no frills on the decor. But thats okay, because you know what youre getting into when you go in...a greasy spoon diner, that serves a decent breakfast, and a price that cant be beat. A friend and I visited for an early breakfast while doing laundry across the street, and were able to eat our fill for under 15 bucks. I havent been for anything besides an early breakfast/hangover cure, and it fits the bill. The service is a little slow, but its all function and when youre hungover, sitting in a quiet restaurant and can eat a bunch of eggs and homefries for under 5 bucks, what else can you ask for? Brighton cafe is what it looks like, so dont go there looking for anything fancy. But it sure serves its purpose well. Check it out! read more

For a small breakfast place, what they offer is really good. You can customize your omelettes and it is reasonably prices. They even have a few lunch options on the menu. I do see myself come back when I am in the area. read more

Pros: Extremely cheap. Price comparable to pack of hard candy. Extremely fast. Bathroom on the premises && they let me use it free of charge. Cons: May well have been plastic. I could make a better BLT than that with only ingredients that you can find at CVS. When I removed the crappy tomato and the one string of lettuce, I was left with only wonder bread and bacon, which did not constitute an actual sandwich. I will acknowledge that this location could be convenient for some people. It was this convenience that lured me into this place in the first place. Two stars to allow for the fact that I literally only tried the one item, so my future mileage could vary if I were ever to come back, which I coincidentally am not. read more

If I were only judging the food, I would have given Brighton Cafe four stars, but the service there is pretty slow, and forget about it if it's busy... you'll be there a while. But the people who work there never give any attitude and the food is delicious! Brighton Cafe is one of the few places around Boston that serves breakfast all day. Aside from fruit cups, plan on a nice, greasy meal! I've never had anything other than their breakfast food, but it's always been perfect. The greatest thing about Brighton Cafe is that you can order your food to go! So if you're just a little too hung over or you just want to eat your breakfast in front of the TV for Saturday morning cartoons, you can pop in and get an order of pancakes or waffles or whatever to go and enjoy wherever! Being a coffee addict, my favorite thing from the cafe is their ice coffee. Because there's a serious lack of Dunkin' Donuts around this area, Brighton Cafe is a great alternative, though sometimes their coffee can be a little too creamy. When it comes down to the wire, Brighton Cafe is cheap and delicious, just don't count on good service. read more

Cold, wet, and feet throbbing, I headed here today for a belly-filling lunch the day after quite possibly the best party I've ever been to. Just to be clear, I'm not knocking the food; my cheeseburger and fries were awesome and kick-ass and filling. I'm giving Brighton Cafe three stars instead of four purely for service reasons. The waitress did come over fairly quickly and got us our food and drinks in reasonable time, but I'm puzzled over their denying us soda refills for no apparent reason, with no accompanying explanation why. The service just felt very brisk and rude. The food and the admittedly low prices were well worth the visit, though. read more

This place is awesome! My boyfriend and i just moved here from Texas and this is one of the more affordable places that we have found locally. While the place could probably use a spring cleaning, the iced coffee is pretty great and the food is pretty decent. We like to split a number 5 (eggs, bacon, one piece of french toast, and one pancake) and get two medium iced coffees and we still come out around $10! One HUGE downside: they close at 4PM :( read more

Went here for the first time this morning and I absolutely love it already! After a night of moderate drinking, there's nothing quite like some eggs and homefries to make everything okay. The food is simple and cheap, two eggs, homefries, and toast only cost $3.50!! And when I say the food is simple, I mean simple. Very typical basic breakfast fare: eggs, some omelets, breakfast sandwiches, you get the point. Don't expect an eggs benny and bloody mary, because you won't find that here. The service was quick and friendly, and they didn't mind that my friends and I sat at the table long after our check had been paid! read more
