Pancake bigger than the plate!

If you're looking for good traditional southern breakfast come here. Small and quaint interior with fun retro decor. Food seemed like old school high cholesterol love like grandma used to make. Dishes were so good our entire group loved it and portions big for price. The fountain drinks were a bit flat. Thank you for this yummy surprise while visiting Suffolk!

Bacon and eggs.

Above and beyond nice people! Everybody says hello and asks how you are doing. I ordered some eggs and bacon with coffee. My mom ordered the Ferris wheel with hash browns and added onions. I'm on a low carb kick so no toast for me. The breakfast was delicious and the music was nicely playing in the background.

Quaint little cafe in downtown Suffolk. Been wanting to try this place for awhile. 80s theme / memorabilia and a simple straight forward menu. Prices are reasonable and portions are decent. I did feel the biscuit and gravy was a bit on the high side for two smaller biscuits but they tasted really good. I paid $15 for the biscuit & gravy platter with shredded hash browns, a side English muffin and an orange juice. Service was super friendly, appeared that the wife ran the front of the house while the husband ran the kitchen. She was super friendly.

A cozy southern breakfast and lunch place in downtown Suffolk, specializing in dishes with linguiça, a Portuguese sausage: hamburgers, eggs, and served hot dog style. They also serve excellent coffee, which our excellent server made sure didn't run out! Owned by a proud veteran...

I was looking for a place to eat and relied on the listed hours, only to arrive and find a note stating the restaurant was closed despite the maps still showing it as open. On top of that, there was a sign making an unnecessary political statement, which only added to the disappointment. It's unfortunate that the owners felt the need to bring politics into the dining experience, as it creates an unwelcoming atmosphere. Overall, I'm giving 1 star due to the inaccurate business hours and the off-putting environment. On top of that, I do not get to freely express myself giving the review, that the owners or whomever feel the need to message me on the side to comment on my review right after it was posted. Very odd, very UNPROFESSIONAL but oh well, just proves my (and many others) point of view.

Pancake, hash browns, fried eggs with sausage, and biscuits and gravy.

The food is good. The biscuits and gravy was fantastic. I'm a big fan of pancakes, but this one did not satisfy at all - it was thick and heavy, I prefer light and fluffy. Others in my party liked it. Everything else was really good. Loved the laid back, small town, "when you're here, you're family" atmosphere. That took us from 4 to 5 stars.

Edited to add: as far as politics goes, why not try having a conversation with them? They used to work in the government etc and they know a thing or two. Very nice people. Don't let the media tell you who to like before meeting them. My sons and I came in for the first time Wednesday and we will be back any chance we get. The food was delicious and the family staff was so warm, welcoming, and loving to every customer they had. It felt like a true hometown cafe. Great people and great food. Thank you guys!

Fantastic little "hole in the wall" place to eat. Cheap, but very good, eats! Server was fantastic! Could tell locals frequent this place.

Best place in town to get breakfast. My generation would call it a mom and pop store. I like to go in every week at least once

I have been going for the past year, and they are consistent every time. Recently we went as a family. The vibe was amazing as usual. Warm, welcoming, and effortlessly charming. The staff? Always incredible. They're genuinely friendly, super attentive, and their recommendations never miss. Now the FOOD. We ordered a mix of sweet and savory, and every single item delivered: The peach pecan streusel crêpe was pure comfort warm, buttery, and perfectly balanced with that sweet, nutty crunch. I usually get extra caramel drizzle. The French toast crêpe. Imagine your favorite brunch classic leveled up into something soft, rich, and absolutely indulgent. The Nutella and banana crêpe is a crowd pleaser, especially for kids. It's creamy, chocolatey, and just the right amount of sweetness. The turkey, goat cheese, and avocado panini brought the savory side. The flavor was great, and came with kettle chips. The drinks were just as fun and unique. The butterfly pea flower lemonade, was not only refreshing but visually stunning. We also got the mango soda and a blueberry soda, both bursting with flavor and kid approved. Everything about Café Davina just hits right. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere, the people. It's one of those places where you walk in and immediately feel good, and then leave already planning your next visit. If you're looking for amazing crêpes, a cozy vibe, and consistently great service. This place is it!

The vibe just feels overwhelming instead of welcoming. The coffee has also gone downhill severely. It doesn't taste the same as it used to, and the quality just isn't there anymore. One positive was that I was offered a sample of the pressed juices, which I appreciated. That was a nice touch and good customer service. The ambiance is very, very, very dark and not really cozy. It feels more bare than inviting. There are only tables and chairs and a single couch, but the couch isn't facing the TV and there aren't any lounge chairs. If you're sitting on the couch trying to have a conversation with a friend, you basically have to turn sideways the whole time, which isn't comfortable at all. The layout just doesn't feel thought out for relaxing or hanging out. Overall, the atmosphere could definitely use some improvement to make it more comfortable and welcoming.

I love this area of the city - feels a little small town/a little suburban. I have the coffee passport and was excited to try this new-to-me spot. Mudita sits just off Ocean View Ave practically on the beach. On this visit, there was ample street parking, but I dare say it is tricky on weekends and during the summer. It is in a pedestrian-friendly area, which is a plus, so it's easy to walk to. They do make a point to remind you not to park in the lot belonging to the adjacent shopping center or risk being towed. When I stopped in, it was empty except for one table. I let them know this was my first visit and the staff was happy to tell me about seasonal specials. They have a variety of teas and coffees. I do wish they had a sample of their food menu where they take orders. I didn't notice it until I picked up my drink, so I'll have to return when I have more time to peruse it. For my first visit, I wanted to try a seasonal special drink and opted for the Vietnamese Egg Coffee. It was described as an Americano style drink with egg custard foam. They offer decaf which is a plus so I selected this. It was ready in about 5 mins and was absolutely delicious. The only downside was the size. I wasn't expecting an espresso sized beverage for the price, but probably because I'm used to a Starbucks Americano which is bigger (even for a tall) and has slightly more hot water. The flavor was impressive and I much prefer the espresso Mudita uses! Overall, a great experience. I don't often venture out to OV, but I'll definitely stop back in when in the area!

It is served on their waffle-like bun with bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato and their special sauce. It is terrific. I wish the bacon was not the microwave thin stuff but the vegetables make it crunchy and juicy. I also wish the business would consider creating a similar item using their delicious sausage. It could be called The LETS. (smile)

4.5 Stopped in for…read morelunch around 12:00 PM on a Friday. Street parking only. I didn't notice any meters, but I could imagine parking being tougher during a big event. Not local, so just something to be aware of. First impression is strong. Specials, awards, and a "Top 25 Burger in the U.S. (2021)" recognition are clearly displayed when you walk in. Prices are surprisingly reasonable for the quality and ambition of the food. The interior is well thought out. Heavy gold-and-black design with light brown accent chairs gives it a polished, upscale feel without being flashy. Leather seating is in great shape, and the tall ceilings paired with black vertical boards make the space feel larger than it is. Lighting is excellent, especially considering there are very few windows. Music is smooth and casual, though to some it could be turned down just a notch. The kitchen is semi-open behind a half wall, which adds to the experience early on as cooking smells build anticipation. Toward the end of my visit, the space did get slightly smoky. I arrived to an empty restaurant, but by the time I left there were around 20-25 people dining. Service was a highlight. Randy showed exceptional hospitality and checked in consistently without hovering. Food hit the table in about six minutes, which is impressive, even considering I was the only guest at first. I ordered the Major Way burger with sautéed onions, bacon, and their house drip sauce. The patty came out piping hot with a great exterior sear, though the interior flavor relies heavily on the sauce. The onions were almost cold, which stood out against the hot patty. The sauce is excellent, creamy with a light spice, and it absolutely carries the burger. Without it, the burger would feel underwhelming by comparison. The bun could benefit from toasting, as the bun struggled to hold everything together. Lettuce and tomato were fresh and crisp. If ordering to go, I'd recommend getting the buns on the side. Traditional wings were done right. Crispy outside, moist inside, and good-sized whole wings. They're essentially well-executed fried chicken wings. While very good, I feel like some seasoning may be burning off in the fryer. I'd love to compare these to their sticky or "everything" wings. Colossal shrimp was excellent. Great batter, excellent house sauce, and perfectly cooked with real texture. The seasoning shines here without tasting burnt. The fries were standout. Easily some of the best I've had in a while. Skinny, twice-fried, fresh-cut potatoes with a (I think) honey BBQ dusting. I intentionally ordered a smaller portion so the photo isn't portioned to size. House-made fruit punch was fantastic. Sweet, clean, and refreshing without that artificial coating you get from bottled drinks. I also appreciate their use of paper bowls and plates instead of styrofoam. The restaurant was clean top to bottom, including the bathrooms, which is always a strong indicator of good management. Overall, this place punches well above its weight. In a larger city, food at this level would easily cost 2.5-5x more. If you're spending lunch money at major fast-food chains nearby, redirect it here. You'll leave full and without that post-fast-food regret.
