Overall the food is decent. Been hear a couple of times with my biggest complaint is the food was either cold or barely warm. The best place on the Columbia River Gorge to host an event! My wife and I used their lower level indoor/outdoor venue for our Rehearsal Dinner. Ashley was great to work with and was able to accommodate our large party. The service provided was the perfect mix of professional and personal! The servers even helped with placing our decorations in the best places possible. The food was delicious and dessert exceeded our expectations. There aren't many eats around this area, but this place isn't too bad. We stayed at the nearby Best Western during a trip so we ate here quite a bit. There is always seating and the view is really nice. Breakfast is okay here. As a Best Western guest, you get complimentary breakfast items from one part of their menu. I wish I could have had an omelette but it wasn't included in the complimentary breakfast. I mostly had eggs, hash browns, and toast. They have other options such as bagel, muffin, scone, or oatmeal. I think the best thing we got was the biscuit that was slathered in gravy, pretty surprising. The salad bar is decent - not amazing, but not horrible either. Their fried seafood dishes aren't bad. We tried their fried seafood platter that had shrimp, fish, and scallops. All were decent - it's hard to mess something up when it's deep fried honestly. I can definitely appreciate that you can replace the fries with a salad from the bar. Makes for a much healthier meal. Don't get their chicken sandwich though. Ciabatta bread was sad and untoasted. Chicken was very hard and dry unfortunately. Salmon dish was pretty good though! Pies and bars are pretty yummy. I had their Marion berry bar a la mode. It was definitely on the sweeter side, but it was tasty for sure especially since they heated it for me. Sure this spot is really more for the view than the food, but it'll do. read more

Receiving five stars for its position within it's limited category of semi fast foods. It does not attempt to be gourmet, it does not attempt to be fancy. It is fairly basic food ordered at a counter. What it does have is a wonderful view of the Columbia River Gorge. You can sit by the window look out and see a spectacular view of The Columbia River at the base of the bridge of the Gods. A very nice staff with quick service. This place is worth the stop as you drive up the gorge. read more

From the way this place looks from the outside, most would probably say "meh" and keep driving. It was formerly a Char Burger, and yes, inside it looks just like a former Char Burger. It's a cafeteria-style set up: get a tray, order at the grill, get a number, and pay at the register, take your giant plastic Coke glass to the fountain for your drink. Lots of burgers & hot dogs, sandwiches, salads, soup, chili, & "baskets" of fish & chips, chicken strips, onion rings, and pulled pork nachos. Nothing special or fine dining about the restaurant. After 5pm you can order salmon dinners, pizza, and steak. Bridgeside also has a pretty extensive breakfast menu if you're staying in the area and crave solid comfort food. Always a deal before a nice hike or pack back trip. I had the Turkey BLT ($9.95): real roasted turkey breast, pepper bacon, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, & mayo on sourdough bread, served with fries but I substituted onion rings. My husband had the Reuben ($9.95): corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, housemade 1,000 Island dressing on grilled marble rye. Both were good. Solid diner food BUT It's the breathtaking views of the Columbia River that suckered us in. You also can't get closer to The Bridge of The Gods unless you're driving over it. The dining room is huge, open, and everything is clean. They have a cute little gift shop and small bakery in front, nice size private parking lot too. Definitely worth a stop if you want a burger, brew, and views. read more

The service was amazing and food was great and decent for the price. It was pretty average with any other restaurant we have been to but had to stop by this place because of the steller views we've seen on Yelp. Parking was plentiful and easy to find next to the Hotel. Every came out delicious. Limited seating because of Covid but you follow all protocol like any other restaurant but one thing I'll mention nobody else does which caught me off guard..their isn't service outside altgough seating is available only to go for now and your on your own qnd you order up front first and receive your food to the table after a lil later. Just thought I would mention, and their little cozy gift shop next door was precious! Highly recomend for an affordable lunch with fantastic views as you can see a couple shots I took from our table so people can get a good look. read more

Sunday, 8/8/2021, 7am The view was pretty spectacular. You get in a cafeteria type of line and pay at the end. We had "breakfast" here as we had a coupon from our hotel at the Best Western next door. We were given a choice of continental (boiled egg, cold muffin and orange or apple), or nothing as they were out of everything else that was supposed to be on the breakfast menu. We could have paid $12 for pancakes or eggs, but offering a free breakfast from our hotel was quite misleading. I had to ask for water, muffin was ice cold. Really, for $250/night, mc donalds breakfast would have been better. read more

Best Clam chowder EVER! I have been a hardcore Mo's fan for a long time but this place is head and shoulders above them. Very thick and tasty. I also had the fish and chips which were also fantastic. They hand bread them right here. Even though the fish and fries were deep fried I didn't walk away with an oily feeling in my mouth. Very clean. If you are passing thru, you must stop. We plan on making this a regular destination from Portland. The chowder alone is worth the drive. read more

We have come here for years. It is one of our favorite places to eat. However, it was probably our last this weekend. I happened to look over at the cooks, and realized not only was no one wearing gloves, but the employee who was putting the burgers in the baskets was not wearing gloves. Right when I looked back there, that employee turned and coughed in his hand, and then went back to putting the burgers in the baskets. It was beyond disgusting. Service is surprisingly fast even when they're slammed. Its a good place with a pretty view to enjoy basic fare. The salad bar is decent, and they have a few beers there.(some decent microbrews). I always seem to end up there as a waypoint on a motorcycle ride and its fine for that. A little bit of a break from the skeezy dive biker bars is nice. Ive had the Reuben sandwich and a hamburger there and they were both good solid meals. The view of the bridge of the gods and the river is nice, and you can buy fresh fish to take home from the native american guys out in the parking lot. Bridgeside (formerly known as Char Burger) is much more than just a burger joint. But, they do serve up a delicious burger and fries. When you visit Bridgeside, you not only are served up delicious food, but the environment is nice also. On the walls, they have Western and Native American artifacts. But, the real experience is the the gorgeous view of the Columbia River as well as the Bridge of the Gods. read more

We had been on a long trip decided to stop and eat at this very picturesque restaurant, right next to the gorge and the bridge amazing. I first went to the restroom and it was so disgusting! There was urine all over the seat and on the floor of one and one was broken so that left one and it was nauseating. The worst part though was the food. My husband ordered an IPA (I know nothing about beer) he said it was a Lager. He also ordered fish and chips and I ordered the fish basket. We both received a basket of frozen things that may or may not have come from the ocean. They did not give them time to defrost before frying them. They were totally dry inside and full of grease. We were both of the opinion that we would get some good seafood, but our mistake by not checking first. At least they have the view goin for them read more

This is the classic Gorge restaurant... it's casual, but I think it's better than most roadside family restaurants. Burgers, fries, salads, grilled cheese, Bar B Q, pizza, sandwiches, desserts... and beyond. They also do breakfast. 7 days a week. This place has a nice open feel to it, and the views are cool. I usually find myself here after a backpacking trip up on Benson Plateau or some other Gorge trail. They also have a gift shop with baked goods! Bridgeside is a great restaurant! They make wonderful juicy grilled hamburgers! My husband and I stopped in on Sunday(June 15th) and found their dining room open. We were able to sit at a table with a good vie of the Colombia river. We enjoyed watching the sailboats and the Stern Wheeler. Also there were Seals on the river looking catch Salmon. We have always liked this restaurant and are glad it continues to delight with great food and wonderful river views! read more

Truly the view made the meal. My wife got the Italian Sub and she really enjoyed it. A nice blend of meats and heat with Mama lil's peppers. My salmon burger was good in creation. A decent flavor profile, but in creation it failed because the salmon patty was overdone and dry. And that is truly a shame. The fries that came with our meal were nicely done. The staff as always was very pleasant. With covid restrictions in place the restaurant is only half full when packed so the protocols are followed easily. I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again, but I would stay with the more traditional menu items which are their strong point. read more

Been coming here FOREVER. I remember coming as a child (40 years ago!), when it was still the Char-Burger, being terrified of the big wooden carved Native Americans. So many cool things to look at and the covered wagon in the middle. Much of that is gone now... The change in ownership hasn't brought any improvements, at least as far as the food is concerned - I don't recall the food EVER being good. But after a long sweaty hike, it'll make a turd, if you know what I mean. The view is incredible, service and food is just mediocre. Since Thunder Island has come to town, there are better options. One thing I still enjoy after all these years and it still tastes great is the cookies in the gift shop! Especially the oatmeal cookie sandwich with cream cheese frosting! I hate to give a bad review but by doing this hopefully it'll give them a chance to improve on things. If not for the friendliness, wonderful service and hard working staff I almost gave them a 1 star rating. First, I ordered a cup of tomato soup. It was room temperature. Then I tried the marion berry pie with ice cream. The dough was under cook. The coffee was watered down too. I was so disappointed. It's a nice place to grab some food after a day of hike. This place is pretty awesome. Good home style cooking with a killer view of the river and trees. You order your food at the counter and they bring it to you. I got the salmon chowder and the cornbread and a slice of marionberry pie to share. The salmon chowder was delicious. Nice change from usual clam chowder I eat. The cornbread was the star. It was crumbly and buttery and corny and slightly sweet. Smeared with salted butter and paired with the chowder, it was delicious. The marionberry is native to Oregon so I got that pie. There's a lot of variety on display when you first go in. The pie was sweet and just slightly tart. Very yummy too This is a nice place to stop by for a meal after exploring the beautiful nature of Oregon. read more

This is a gem! The best place we have eaten at between Portland and Pendleton! They make most of their sauces & dressings in house, the breads & buns are delicious, yummy thick cut pepper bacon, crispy golden fries, salad bar with homemade potato salad & coleslaw. This place ROCKS. And to top it off, the view is amazing. We stopped on our way to Pendleton & on the way back. Yummy. read more
