This is a diner / cafeteria / fast food place. From the cafeteria lined up to order, you order from the menu board, grab your bottled juice from the ice bucket and take your number to your table. At 7 AM, their help acts like they just woke up. But at least they operate very fast. The food is mediocre. The eggs are freshly scrambled. But the biscuits and gravy is not normal. Their biscuits are not flaky but more like fried crumb cake. Not bad but not what you'd expect. Their gravy however is small quantity and had almost no meat in it. Tastes like it's from a can. I sure wish Cascade Locks had an alternative breakfast location that was open early. read more

After reading the reviews we figured it would be the best place to stop for a bite after a hike. Honestly wasn't THAT impressed. We felt kind of rushed because we got there an hour and a half before they closed, which is plenty of time to order eat and leave before closing. My partner and I shared a beer and ordered the chicken burger and fish and chips... not a lot to say about either of those. Our dogs loved the fries though. read more

We have eaten here for years! It's former name was the Charburger. It is a small town hamburger joint. The cheeseburgers are flame broiled! The fry's are big! They are very good. The milkshakes and soft ice cream are awesome! Ask for a table by the window and you can enjoy the view. We have seen bald Eagles almost every time we have been there. Cafeteria type place. Food is better than cafeteria and yet not by too much. We had the fish and chips. I liked the breading on the the fish. The clam chowder seemed like it may have been out of a can with their spin on it giving it more of a salty, cheese flavor and was very thick. I see rave reviews but am not sure exactly why. It is on the spendier side for the service offered and food served. We bought a whole pie and it was home made there. We are at home and liked it. The view is pretty and it's an easy stop off of I-84. Its def better than the classic, similar places in Troutdale. I don't like to mention names of restaurants in reviews. I would go here versus continuing to Troutdale. I hate giving 3 star reviews and consider them average. 4 star review would mean table service offered and a better price for the food offered. read more

It's a beautiful drive up the gorge and it's a great little spot to relax and enjoy a nice breakfast or lunch. Sunday, I had the corned beef hash and eggs and hubs had an omelet. Pretty cool find by the Gorge, it's cafeteria style, you order from a menu (see photo) & pay the cashier and they bring it to your table. Not a bad seat in the house. For two people, our bill was $24.15. Orange juice was in a bottle and coffee was fresh and you get that on your own. Our ordered was cooked perfect, eggs over easy & medium. First time here but many visits when it was Char Burger. Pretty darn good breakfast. Had the corned beef hash and eggs. VERY tasty. The coffe was not so great which is why I took off a star. I'm not all that into cafeteria setups but the wait staff did get us in and out quickly and efficiently. read more

This place is really great :-) wonderful view of the river and the awesome bridge of the gods. I occasionally drive to the Falls area and crossover to the Washington side stopping here first for a nice lunch :-) the salad bar is amazing with lots of good and fresh choices. The last few times I have immensely enjoyed the salmon burger! Very fresh and tasty with not too many fillers. The salmon chowder is definitely worth a try. I enjoy the nostalgic Cafeteria style service. I find the staff very friendly and helpful. After you order they bring your food to your table. Ours came quickly with a smile. read more

This place was a decent place to have a very casual dinner. I had the island burger with fries ( basically a bacon cheeseburger with pineapple on top) and wife had all you can eat salad bar with a cup of chowder, she says it's alright.. bill was about $28 (it is like Denny's). I think that this place is popular for two reasons: 1) it's next to the bridge of gods 2) very few places to eat If it wasn't near a national landmark I don't believe this place would survive.. I'm not sure if the place always had the walk up window. Stopped here because I wanted something more than fast food. When I was there its a limited menu. And they have set times when breakfast ends and lunch starts. We found a nice place to park to the left of the building. We were able to eat having a waterfront view. There is a trail you can walk along to stretch the ol'legs. Unfortunately if you need a bathroom your screwed during the closure. As far as the food it is good and I would eat here again. read more

After a long day hiking we stopped in to grab a bite to eat. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and orderly the restaurant was. The view of the river was amazing! Immediately upon walking you will find the order counter. You grab a tray and order cafeteria style. Upon seeing this I expected the food to be the typical "out of the bag into the fryer" type place, so I thought I'd play it safe and order the salad bar and some onion rings. I was so surprised when what arrived were scratch made battered rings that were delicious. The salad bar was fresh and contained a few scratch made salads like potato salad. I do think for an $8 salad that a few extra toppings would be great, maybe chicken or bacon, or something to pad the cost. Over all I was very pleased and will definitely visit again! read more

We stopped in here during a road trip. Atmosphere is of an old burger joint. Interior is basic and kept reasonably clean. Overall, the burger was pretty basic. Ok, but nothing fancy. The fries were good, but again, nothing to write home about. One thing I can say is that they had great pie! If nothing else. stop in a get a piece of pie on your way by. I LOVE Cascade Locks; it's the most beautiful, picturesque town in the Gorge. So, this particular Saturday, 9/22/18, I decided to stop by a restaurant I'd bypassed many years. And if I had known I'd be treated so horribly and disrespectfully, I would have NEVER crossed that restaurant's threshold! The experience was one of the worst I've ever had since relocating to Portland, OR. For these reasons you don't deserve one star: the food was disgusting - an overcooked hamburger, an uncomfortable cashier that seemed disgusted by the thought of touching me when she returned credit card to my hand, a rude waitress that went around to every table asking them if they needed anything, while deliberately ignoring me, glaring unfriendly staff, and a manager that made "I'm sorry" excuses. It was awful to experience this! If Bridgeside Restaurant is uncomfortable with people of color maybe you should provide mandatory Diversity Training. All African American Black men are not thugs! I am an independent Agent that should be judged by the content of my character, not by your hangups and small town mentality. Learn to treat people with courtesy and respect! It was denigrating to be treated like that in front of a packed restaurant. I will continue to frequent Thunder Island Brewing Company; simply, it is a better restaurant, also on the Columbia River, and staff know how to treat all of their customers equally, with professional respect. read more

Cold hash browns (like from the refrigerator cold), cold omelette (the cheese on top wasn't fully melted). Bad to mediocre place at best.

This place has a great view, there is a lot of seating, and the decorations inside are early American-settle themed. In my opinion the food was overpriced for the quantity, the flavor was good yet the sides where burnt. There where only 4 families in the hole restaurant so the cooks had no reason to overcook the meals. We've visited this cafe from California on two occasions and enjoyed some form of marionberry baked goodness offered by the Bridgeside each time. The view here is amazing and patrons can enjoy the view from cozy bench table seating. The second time we were here, we accidentally left a knitted hat behind (one that my mother adores and bought from Taiwan). Unfortunately, we didn't realize we had lost it until we had moved onto Seattle, but we called the restaurant in hopes they found and held onto it. The service here was impeccable! Not only did they hold onto it for us, but they also shipped the hat back to our California residence and we received it within a week. We were so happy and impressed with the service, this turned out to be the highlight of our entire trip! Thank you so much!! read more

What a disappointment. We used to love the Charburger and the friendly cafeteria style dining with great views. They renovated and it feels like a funeral hall. If you'd like to eat on the patio in summer, which is by far the best spot anywhere in Cascade Locks, you better be prepared to tote all of your food and drink all the way down 50 steep cement steps. They won't let you access those from indoors. The tables are dirty and covered in debris, it is very unkempt. Then you get to to bus your table and carry everything back up the steps, around the building and through the double front doors, which are awkward to negotiate with a tray. Really inconvenient, not ADA compliant by any stretch, and really a missed opportunity on the part of Bridgeside. Put a 3 piece string band out there, some white table cloths and charge $30 for brunch. Also, the worst coffee I've ever had in my life. read more

The food was fresh. The service was great. The view made me homesick for the town I grew up in. The highlight, besides the most amazing onion rings I've ever had, was the house made bbq sauce. Seriously, bottle that stuff up and sell it. Even if I'm the only person buying it, I promise I'll pay your bills with my orders. Looking for place for breakfast in cute town of Cascade Locks. Found this gem right on the river. Great healthy breakfast and lunch menu. Omlets, pancakes, biscuit and gravy, fresh fruit, yogart + much much. You walk up to counter to order and pay and they bring your order to your table. Impressed they had organic ketchup & mustard on the tables. Wish they had an espresso bar, but great food. Also cute good shop, and candy counter with delicious fudge. read more

Stopped by on the way home from a Spokane trip for lunch. It's a walk up to order eating establishment. We split an order of fish and chips rather than a sandwich or burger. The food was ok, but nothing extraordinary. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The place was clean and the view was great. I chose this restaurant for a burger because the reviews and ratings said it would be good. It was not. It was bland, overcooked, small for the price. The onion rings could have been good but they were very overcooked. The fountain drinks had a wierd fizzy flavorless taste. The staff were fine. Nothing exceptional but fine.
