It was not a busy afternoon and yet our glasses sat empty multiple times and so we had to continually waive down our waitress who was hanging out at the front counter with the hostess. Really understand how a business can have an off day or two and wanted to avoid writing such a review. However Bricks has left no choice due to their actions. My wife and I have had a few bad experiences at Bricks, including getting food poisoning in the years past. Unfortunately a friend, not knowing that, gave me a gift card at bricks for helping him move out of state last January. Thought, maybe we will try it again, but now.. in Aug.. the realization is that anytime we thought about going out to eat.. we simply did not want to go to Bricks with bad past experiences including service So finally went in to see what could be done with the gift card. Really wanted my friends online purchase to be refunded, but would have been ok with most any solution. Unfortunately, after going in twice trying to be extremely friendly and explaining "don't want to put down a small local business, but we just simply will not be using this gift card" and being promised communication from management, once even by a day "supervisor".. there was absolutely no attempt to get in contact. Finally, 3rd attempt, again.. explaining "don't want to publicly complain about a local small business" (being a long time business owner myself).. I received an answer. "Eat here, or simply let us keep the full value of the gift card without rendering service, no other option" I can't begin to explain the lack of professionalism.. as mentioned, there were several options that would not have cost them a dime, but not only do they try to duck communication but in the end, they were rude and simply had no desire to "make this right".. again.. at no cost to them. They preferred to maintain an unsatisfied customer. Terrible business with, some, terrible and rude people. read more

Brick's Eat & Drink is a cute cafe for lunch. LOVE, LOVE THE ARTWORK in this restaurant. This is my family's 1st time in Placerville and we were on the Historic Main Street. What a eye appealing town. I wanted to roam the streets to see The shops. We were going through the town to get to our river rafting trip and we had some extra time before we needed to meet up w/our raft. So we had lunch. We were sat right away. Our order: I had the Tuscan Chicken sandwhich that was excellent. EVERTHING IN THIS SANDWICH IS MY FAVORITE. Chicken, pesto sauce, provolone cheese, grilled onions & bell peppers and sun dried tomatoes. YUMMY!!! And the crunch roll just added another dimension to the sandwich. My tots was the perfect addition. Really enjoyed it. My husband had the Pastrami Rueben which he said was good. The marbled rye was light and the Pastrami was juicy. My son had a basic burger Which he thought the patty was properly seasoned. The fries were a little soggy. No dessert due to our time constraints. TIP: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE TIME TO SPEND WONDERING AROUND. The artist is a photographer that has a gallery down the street from Brick. Wish we had more time to explore the town. I've been going to Brick's for years. It's been one of my favorite places to eat in Placerville. It is not the same anymore. The service is no longer good. I was there tonight and a huge furry dog was allowed in and it was not a service dog. The dog ended up throwing up all over the floor behind us. Let me tell you, I don't want to ever go back there again. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. It's really a shame and too bad. read more

My siblings and I came here for lunch. They offer outdoor and indoor seating. It is a popular spot on the weekends. My sister ordered the Strawberry Fields and it was strong and delicious. I ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad and it was well dressed and the perfect amount of croutons and chicken. My siblings ordered the Darcy Burger and the Bo Peep Burger with fries. They both thought their burgers were good and the fries were so amazing! Marin was our server and she was super sweet and attentive. Great spot for eats and drinks. read more

Great go-to spot for coworkers and I. Place gets pretty packed depending on time of day. Decent selection of drinks. Last one I tried was their Pomergranite Linen-- delicious and crisp. They have an ever changing selection of draft microbrews which they'll have signage for in the middle of the restaurant. Ciders are good, went with the zombie killer one time and it was great. Tried the Tuscan chicken sando one time and the apple chicken salad another time (that I can remember). The chicken sandwich was suuuper good. The sundried tomatoes and pesto really made it. On a perfectly crunchy Dutch crunch roll. The apple chicken salad was absolutely perfect for a hot 100 degree day. It's blood orange vinaigrette was a-mazing. I came in to watch the NCAA women's basketball final. I was "quieted" down by a male bartender for cursing. I was sitting at a barstool at the "bar" and he informed me that it was a family restaurant. Meanwhile I was at the bar, watching sports as a woman and enjoying myself using adult language, there were no children present. For me, it felt like a direct assault on me living as a normal human adult in America. The question is, if I were a man, would I have got the same response from him? What do y'all think I like this restaurant? I've been here many times, but have never experienced the hostility that I did this Sunday. read more

This historic building, made mostly of bricks, has a cozy, contemporary pub-like atmosphere with warm and friendly servers. It's the perfect place for a casual date night or family get togethers. We started our meal with cocktails and the fried green tomato appetizer. The drinks were well mixed and the fried green tomatoes had a tasty breaded crust. For dinner, we ordered the Reuben sandwich, shrimp pesto tortellini, and the fish and chips. Everything was delicious. The fish was a generous portion with outstanding crunch and flavor. For dessert, we shared a slice of delicious cake. Overall, it was a wonderful meal and dining experience. The bill was a bit of a shock since we've been getting used to HH deals at other establishments. I think Brick's HH is limited to only 3-4 pm M-F. read more

We had Christmas eve dinner there! The food was excellent and our server, Carver, was superb! My only complaint is that it was freezing in there! We looked around and everyone had on jackets, hats and scarves. We actually made a game out of it. A party would walk in and take off their coats. The grilled cheese with fried green tomatoes is amazing if you want to skip the appetizers. This sandwich was the perfect comfort food. My current favorite is the Mamarosa dish, this amazing meal includes filet mignon tips mixed in a creamy Vodka Alfredo marinara sauce...I'm salivating just writing about it. I saved half of it for lunch the next day, and wow, it was just as amazing as I remembered. This is a must try! Not feeling like eating heavy? The Roberto is a great vegetarian sandwich. In it, egg plant, roasted red peppers, broccoli, alfalfa spouts, and Swiss cheese. I took a bite of this, and it was yummy. Most importantly, my boyfriend loved it. Update on likely food poisoning from Tuscan Chicken sandwich. Wife and I shared a Tuscan Chicken Sandwich-she started feeling ill almost immediately. Barely made it to the parking structure before considerable vomiting. Was sick all that night with diarrhea and vomiting. I had minor symptoms. When we examined the inside of the sandwich the chicken looked rather odd-just small little funny shaped pieces of what was probably chicken. the menu described the sandwich as being a grilled chicken breast. It was definitely not a chicken breast. I contacted the restaurant and they responded and said they appreciated being notified and said to send a copy of the receipt and that they would refund the cost of the sandwich. I sent a photo of the receipt. It has been about 3 weeks and haven't heard a word from them since. read more

My boyfriend loves this place, so he suggested we come here for a date night. There was a wait as I don't think there are loads of upscale options in Placerville. After about 15 minutes we are seated, it was a pub style feel, pub style seating and menu. He got the burger with sweet potato planks, I got the Cobb salad, and we both got craft beer. Everything was really good, for me Cobb salad is hit or miss at most places depending on the level of ingredients they use, and quality/quantity. This was a huge salad, lots of fresh ingredients, and a large variety of Additions. Oh his burger was pretty stacked, again with a fresh ingredients, and the sweet potato planks were a lovely addition. Definitely recommend. read more

If I could leave a review on Fb I would. Would I came in with my family on Sunday and ate a early dinner before heading back out of town. The waitress was very rude. We ordered and got an appetizer the artichoke spinach dip was not very good at all. My wife got a salad and soup my son got the cheese burger kids meal. I had fish and chips. It was so greasy that the fries couldn't be eaten because the fish was so greasy it made them soggy and left oil all over my plate. One peace of fish had bones in it. And to top it off I have been sick since Sunday night. And the only other thing I ate on Sunday was was breakfast we made at home and no else got sick. Sprig of rosemary actually added some flavor. - Darcy Burger with Garlic Fries: Burger was okay. Garlic fries were weird and dry. - Crab Cake Sandwich with Fries: On the plus side, the crab cakes were made with real crab meat. Tomatoes felt old and mealy. Fries were not the best -- kids wouldn't eat them. - Spinach and Artichoke Dip: Dip was really thick. The top was hot, but middle was lukewarm, borderline cold. It came with a lot of chips. We met my daughter & husband from ID. Here on Saturday. Bricks definitely lives up to its great reputation! She ordered the crabcake sandwhiches. It looked all fresh & she immensely. He had a cheeseburger /fries which was enjoyed by my son-in-law. Friend had the French onion soup & garlic bread. He is a huge lover of French onion soup & is normally a bit critical. He raved about how much he enjoyed it! I had a Caesar salad w/large side of grilled shrimp. The salad was awesome. Beautifully made. The huge butterflied shrimp was out of this world juicy, flavorful & fantastic! Daughter & I both had Tequilla Sunrises which where made just as I requested and where very good. Our server was 5 STAR I wish I had requested her name. She knew when to come us, everything was just taken care of Perfectly!! The inside is casual, open (lots of nice large windows) brick interior, a separation of full bar area & seating. 3 very viewable TVS. I will definitely be back for the rib eye meal!
