My family has been coming here monthly for thirteen years. Some of the members of our family have been coming here for 30 plus years. This place has progressively declined over time. I realize times have changed and it's been challenging for the food service industry since Covid. We all know prices have gone up on just about everything and we accept that. However, we are not willing to accept inconsistent food and mediocre service from employees who expect a large tip when they can't even bring you something as simple as breadsticks or keep your beverages refilled. Loved it all! Spacious seating, excellent service, delicious food. The Brick Oven has been around for a while now and it is a staple of BYU Provo, located right by campus within walking distance. We had a delicious meal, they were able to split our pizzas so we had the option to choose from a variety of flavors. We ordered two pizzas, half "Western Steak" and "Buffalo Chicken" and the other half "Margarita" and "Hawaiian". So many different combinations but yet they all hit a home run! The Western Steak had steak with BBQ sauce, bell peppers, breaded onion straws with bleu cheese crumbles and bacon--the onion rings definitely made it. The others flavors. I'm sure you've heard of before, and if you haven't... you need to get out more, I tell ya. Clean restaurant, perfectly cooked food, great service. Delicious brick oven baked pizza and a to die for salad bar. The salad bar has an extensive selection of fresh veggies, pasta salads, chopped boiled eggs and cubed ham for toppings. The area is kept neat and tidy and displayed in a very appetizing way. Our server Rosalie did an excellent job! She accurately took our orders and checked to see if we were enjoying our meals. She came back several occasions to refill our root beer. She offered a to-go box and a drink refill for the road. Excellent service and delicious food at a locally owned restaurant... You really can't live in Provo and not eat at Brick Oven from time to time. It's fun to do a review on a restaurant that I've been eating it since I was a child. My go to for most of my teenage years was the market room buffet. Growing up in a large family it was pretty much the only way to guarantee that everyone will be full. These days, we love a Hawaiian pizza, sausage pizza or any one of their great pizza combinations. It was my eldest brother's birthday and he picked this place. It has really changed since I was there there maybe over a decade ago. The pasta station looked nice, the salad bar also decent, the service was incredible they were so on the ball. Since there were so many people in our party that they put us all in the big room and there was never a time where someone wasn't checking up on us. I ordered the Chicken Tortellini with Clam Chowder soup for dinner, and would say that I was definitely full from the meal. To start off with, the clam chowder was thick and had a lot of flavour in it. The garlic bread was also very soft and buttery. However, for the Chicken Tortellini, there weren't many big pieces of chicken. I also felt as if the cheese flavour was overpowering the whole dish. 1st time at this location. They let call ahead to get on wait list so that is nice. The wait was maybe 5 mins after we got there! Food was good as before. Promptly brought out. Kids were happy with their pizzas. We only got pizza and spinach dip -- that's what we always get. We did not get salad / soup bar but I did notice you had to put on a disposable glove when you got your food from there. However.... Most businesses do not let you wait inside until your table is called due to pandemic but this place didn't seem to care about that. Tons of people as soon as u enter and try to make your way to the host stand! I was shocked by this. The tables were not socially distanced in the area we were seated. We guessed they thought that it was not necessary since the booths were high (like walls). But it was packed since it was a Saturday night. We haven't been to Brick Oven in years and we were craving their Market Buffet, especially the pasta bar. Long story short, It did not live up to my memory of it. We may have gone on a bad day and a bad time. It was 7:30 on a Friday night so maybe that's part of it. Here was our experience...First off, there was no Mizithra cheese on the night we went. Not sure if that is always the case now but that's like my favorite cheese to put on pasta. Then it got worse..They ran out of meatballs and sausage. I got one meatball and no sausages. Yes, there are lots of other things to eat at the Market Buffet but those are my main reason to get the pasta bar. I felt like the price should have been discounted or something. I generally don't leave reviews, but I was so disappointed with my experience here. While we were waiting to get sat the worker that ended up serving us was standing with the greeters, complaining about her "needy" tables. We were already annoyed when we realized this waitress, Natalia would be serving us. She made it clear the whole time that she didn't care that much about our experience and was only interested in the tip. Even when she seemed to be being nice which happened to be when she brought the bill, it felt extremely inauthentic. I want to know when Brick Oven changed the cheese they use on their pizzas. I have lived on Provo 50 years loving Brick Oven but about 2-3 years ago they change the cheese they use or maybe they changed more then just the cheese. I used to love their pizza then I noticed the change and it is just average pizza at best now. Everyone I ask says the same thing. They also changed their ranch dressing and not for the better. Remember it used to have a light tint of green color and tasted much better. Now it tastes like some bulk commercial ranch dressing every average dinner uses. Decided to give them another go this trip through Utah. Not much has changed. Still a solid 3 stars. I can only review the pizza, root beer, and garlic bread. Good amount of toppings on pizza. Again, the dough tastes like it has been frozen before. Wife likes their root beer because it's not very carbonated. I like a more carbonated root beer. Flavor is good on the root beer, though. The main reason we go there is we had our second date there many years ago. Was the pizza better then because it was a second date and anything might taste good then? DISGUSTING!!! What has happened to an old favorite!! Ended up there with the thought of some tasty deep dish baked lasagne. It was AWFUL!! Layers of brown (burnt) cheese, topped with brown(dead) noodles mixed with over cooked mushy noodles. No exaggeration! The manager promised a fresh cut of lasagne just coming out of the oven! We received two free kids meal vouchers for our kids getting student of the week at school so we decided to take the family out to dinner. We got there a little after 4 pm to beat the dinner crowd. Our server was absolutely awful from the start; not friendly, very short and snappy, seemed almost as if we were burdening her. We ordered our food and the server made it aware that the voucher only covered $5.99 of the kids meal, which is a bit silly if you ask me. My husband and I did the market buffet, soup was tasteless, the spinach in my salad was had black residue which meant it was either old and/or not properly prepared and washed. The pasta was under cooked, and again the sauces were tasteless. For paying $14.99 per person I expected a least some sort of mediocre food but we left very unhappy and unsatisfied. First, my husbands name is Jeff, not Jack. When we arrived for dinner on a Saturday night the waiting area was packed and we were told it would be a 25 minute wait. About 15-20 minutes in we repeatedly heard the name Jack being called. My husband went up to ask if they were calling Jeff and they said no. About 30 min after getting there I checked in with them again and was told they called our name, Jack, multiple times on accident. Although this was slightly irritating they made up for it by immediately seating us. Shortly after being seated we ordered an 8" garlic chicken, 10" bbq chicken pineapple, breadsticks, and root beer. It was more than enough food. The breadsticks were bigger than expected and so I was only able to eat half of the 8" pizza. The garlic chicken was alright, the chicken had a slight leftover taste. Fun fact: the slight green tint to the ranch sauce is due to food coloring. They used to put a lot of cilantro in the ranch and that would give it a natural green look. They more recently updated the recipe and now add coloring to it to give it the same look people are used to. My husband thought the bbq chicken pineapple was good but I wasn't a fan, bbq sauce + pineapple is not my favorite combo. What I did like was how cheesy the pizza was. The root beer was great! I have visited brick oven with my family for years and I always felt like the food was good, the service was great, and the experience was wonderful. Unfortunately, today I can say I will probably never be returning. Our order was wrong in several areas. The pizza we ordered had green peppers on it and even though we try to pick them off, it's still had plenty of green pepper flavor. One of the calzones we ordered came with chicken and garlic white sauce. We asked for a side of the garlic white sauce to go with it and they brought out marinara sauce. When we asked for the garlic white sauce they said they would have to make it and it would be a while. About 15 minutes later they brought us a side of cold ranch dressing. When we told him it was a side of cool Ranch they brought us another side of cold sauce. We asked them again and they brought us a side of sauce they said they had warmed up (in the microwave) but it looks like melted mint chip ice cream (t was green colored). I dropped over $100 for a group of five of us and still left a decent tip. I know these kids are trying but really this place seems like it has gone downhill. read more

The air conditioner here works great. - Their bow tie pasta with alfredo is a great combination. - As far as the Heaps sampler goes, the alfredo and Italiano options were the best slices we sampled. - The pizza tastes much better than it looks. - With the buffet choices, you can eat your heart out at a decent price. Cons: - The fruit at the salad bar was fermented to the point of being alcoholic! - The chocolate mousse was very rich and delicious until I tasted something else from the salad bar that got mixed into the mousse at some point, that was horrible. - The staff serving the pizza for the Heaps Sampler was over eager to get us farther along in our meal by constantly asking us in a slightly judgmental fashion if we were ready to move onto dessert and get outta the restaurant. Undercooked, not very flavorful, and it looked like something you would get from skate land or a trampoline park. The customer service was very very good and made up for the food.
